The Federal Republic of Nigeria and the United Kingdom have signed an agreement providing for the transfer of prisoners between the two countries.

The agreement would allow Nigerians who commit crimes in the United Kingdom, and Britons who commit crimes in Nigeria, to serve their sentences in their own country, where they can be properly prepared for release into the community in which they would live following their release.

Speaking at the signing ceremony in Abuja, British Justice Minister, Jeremy Wright, said that removing foreign national offenders is a key priority for the British Government, and the Prisoner Transfer Agreement signed with the Nigerian Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke, plays a significant role in supporting the mutual agreement.

Nigeria and the United Kingdom have in place, Prisoner Transfer Arrangements with a number of other countries.

A special joint committee of Nigerian and British officials will oversee the implementation of the agreement, as the first set of prisoners will be transferred under the agreement before the end of 2014.

SUSPECTED members of the Boko Haram sect on Friday blew up the prison in Gwoza Local Government, setting free all the prisoners.

Saturday Tribune learnt that a civilian around the emir’s palace, where the prison is located, was killed by the gunmen while they were freeing the prisoners.

However, an official confirmation of the actual number of casualties could not be obtained in Maiduguri, as the Commissioner of Police, Yuguda Abdullahi, could not be reached on his telephone line. Also, attempts to get prison officials in Maiduguri to know the specific number of prisoners that escaped did not yield results.

Residents however, told the Saturday Tribune on telephone that the gunmen attacked the prison between 7.00 p.m. and freed all the prisoners.

“We were just coming out of the mosque when we heard the sound of heavy explosion and gunfire around the palace. We all ran to our homes only to come out this morning and learn that the Boko Haram group came and blew the prison and freed all the prisoners,” Malam Isah Yawulbi said.

Tophisticated weaponsophisticated weaponshe Nigerian Army have found different sophisticated weapons in the home of Honourable Hussein Dei Dei, a CPC Lawmaker from Kaduna state and Grassroots Organizer of the Proposed Merged Party, the All progressive Congress (APC).

Six AK 47 assault rifles and some ammunition and bomb making devices were found following raid by Nigerian troops in his home near Dalet barrack in Kawo area of Kaduna city.

A press statement from Nigeria army’s division 1 internal security force led by Brigadier General TC Ude said the raid was carried out on Tuesday March 5th 2013 at about 5.30pm following intelligence report in the area.
The statement also revealed that two men, two women and five children were arrested during the operation.
Apart from six AK 47 assault rifles the military listed the following items were recovered:
1] One light Machine Gun.
2] One teargas Launcher.
3] Twenty Seven Loaded and Seventeen empty AK 47 magazines.
4] One FN Rifle Magazine.
5] Five Sub-Machine Gun Magazines.
6] Four Pistols Magazines.
7] One loaded Light-Machine Gun Magazine.
8] Two Hundred and Seventy Five (275) rounds of 7.62 mm (NATO Ammunition).

AHEAD of the March 4 Presidential Election in Kenya, Raila Odinga, one of the presidential aspirants, has sent emissaries to Nigeria, ostensibly, for spiritual assistance.

Odinga, Saturday, sent a two-man emissaries to the world headquarters of a spiritual organisation, the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, based in Calabar, Nigeria, to court Leader Olumba Olumba Obu’s spiritual support and favour to enable him win the race.

Led by a priest, resident in Kenya, Joseph Abeng, the delegation was received inside the worship hall of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, by Leader Obu, who is reported to have influential presence and following in that country.

Joseph Abeng said Odinga has a lot of respect for the leader of the spiritual organisation and believes that his prayers, which had helped him previously, could also work in his favour during the presidential election in his country.

Abeng said Odinga, who is facing stiff opposition from one of the leading candidates, Uhuru Kenyatta, the son of the founder of modern Kenya, asked him to appeal to His Olumba Obu to similarly pray and work for him the way he did for Barack Obama of the United States of America.

ibiso1986: I don't know if u guys have experienced something pressing on ur neck or leaning on ur back while half asleep or about to go to sleep. This is something I've experienced countless times.. Cos wen it usually happens, breathing tends to pause for a while and speech seizes.. The pressing tends to get worse when I pray in my mind.. Thus the pressing stops(always pray at night) and I won't be able to see any person in the room. I feel it can cause death since it has to do with breathing. Is it really a ghost or just my imagination. Feel free to comment cos I know of many people that have experienced it as well
