Responsible can mean different things to different people but on the basic front, if he a man can't provide for himself then why bring a child into the world? Nigerian government doesn't provide benefits/support for children so what r u on abt bruv?

I do understand that he must have been a little careless about protecting himself and his girlfriend from an 'unwanted' pregnancy. But, and I speak from situations I've witnessed, there are men who only were able to work a lot out for themselves when they impregnated a girl. They found in themselves, zeal and potentials they never thought was there and made use of it right away.

The mere thought that he has two extra people to take care of can drive him into tapping out knowledge and ideas that he never had. Some situations are bad but they always bring out the best in us and this one is not an exception.

Beacause since you protest now and can't see any good in what we do, I suppose at first you'll be clueless and too tolerant. Then when the members start taking you for granted, you'll start to act harsh. From cold to hot.

We're not protesting, we're simply showing you what's right or wrong in our best opinion and the least you can do is come out and defend your decisions. Instead of defending your actions, which should be expected of a leader (moderator in this setting) in a society (forum in this context), all we get is a ban, although I have never personally got into a fight with any mod but I have seen people get banned for it. If a mod is challenged or protested against, such mod should come out and defend their actions and not the protester getting banned. That is outrightly autocratic. I understand it's a private website and the owner can choose to do whatever with it but we are right to expect some equality here.

A good leadership is one that listens and tries to let the follower see its point of actions and decisions to a point where the follower is convinced not sanction the follower if the leadership's concept is not understood or challenged.

To be a warm (balanced temperature) mod, you must realize that being in charge comports making decisions. The members are the least people to like them. The well being of the forum as a whole comes first before any whims from members.

I don't understand the supposed warmness of a moderator coming not making the people like them. Are you telling me there aren't mods on this forum that people like? Of course there are and that's because they have mixed up with the people and act like one of them instead of riding on that superiority horse.

Why shouldn't I be able to express my view on a forum because I'm afraid of being banned? If I can't express how I feel wholly, why is it an interactive 'community'? Would it have made any difference if we were being charged a fee? I don't have any issue against any moderator but I have an issue with some moderators' power control and lousy ego.

^^^ Why would we be worse in your position? I'd like an explanation to that.

You want to start something, right? [/quote]Education might not be a single determining factor but it sure is very important and can't be overruled. I could care less about their level of education (Obama and Bush) but sure they had some education - one that can be proven.

This could all be traced back to the colonial era, if you remember quite alright, the way in which the yoruba's accepted the white men was far more open handed than the hausa and igbo ethnic group did. That is why the yoruba people are more advanced in western education, but for the igbo's they were more interested in selling their farm produce to make enough money to meet ends need and some of them travelled to lagos to look for unskilled jobs from there they started doing business that involves farm produce from lagos to the east and it moved from generation to generation, For the hausa's I can't say much, but I know the are more business minded than the yoruba's. That being said the igbo's are more business mined than any other ethnic group.

Isn't it ironic that a tribe that claims to be very educated has only produced OBJ and Late Adedibu as national leaders?

If you want to start an argument now over these, you're most likely to fail. Because first of all, I will ask you to name where in the world don't people get in fights, and where in the world don't people attack each other. It only makes it interesting. . . just drop it right there and don't take it any further because I have an issue with every point you've made and I have two motions to prove each of them wrong.

As harsh as it may sound, I think it's possible for anyone who's not used to the rules to delete their account but I understand we would want a common ground where we are all equal considering that this was supposed to be a genuinely purposed Nigerian website.

^^^ Unfortunately no! I have said it many times before that NL is autocratic. I can't do what annoys the mod but they can do what annoys me, right? It's funny how a lot of people come on here and talk trash at leaders when they, in fact, have mismanaged whatever power they have placed on them. You can imagine some of these moderators acting like they are demigods because they can ban and unban and it makes me wonder what they'd have done if they were president or governors.

You can't bring a child into the world to come suffer. deed is already done so tie your laces and get with the job hunting so you can provide a good home for your family.

Do you know how many men didn't have their financial end figured before having a child? Only if you knew, you won't have tagged him irresponsible, besides, I suppose you should know what being 'responsible' means. A lot of parents have the financial means to take care of their children but does that make them all responsible? No! Redefine your comment and be clearer and more dignified.

A lot of Nigerians in the west bring up topics that actually have very little relevance to the country and in the wrong sections too

Topics like marrying outside your "race", finding the meaning of your "blackness" etc are irrelevant in the Nigerian context  and other topics that are a lot more offensive topics about foreigners and ethnicities in Naija should have been locked and deleted

And how do you know this isn't relevant? Do you know everything and what is wrong about knowing a lot more? In case you don't know, when a thread is started on Nairaland, the ideas are diversified and a lot of other things are talked about on the thread - facts that may not have been heard somewhere. In as much as some would like not to admit it, NL is a learning terrain somehow. . . you learn something new everyday and it's a fun place to be - you don't have to be always uptight about everything.
