Politics / Borno: Mohammed Wakil Inaugurates Jonathan Campaign Committee by theshadyexpress(m): 5:09pm On Jan 19, 2015
The Coordinator of Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation for Borno State, Hon Mohammed Wakil on Sunday launched the Borno state committee for the re- election of President Goodluck Jonathan, declaring that the President has been very fair to the northern region.

Addressing party leaders and members of the committee at a meeting in Maiduguri, the coordinator affirmed that the North had good share of federal appointments and developmental projects, asserting that “the region should support the president’s re- election”.

“Mr president has accorded the North sufficient respect in the governance of this nation. We are not deprived of our rights in whatever ways. As at today, northerners occupy sensitive positions in the administration. The president trusts us and I believe we should trust him by voting massively for his re- election”, Wakil who is also the Minister of State for Power said.

He noted that the North East region was well favoured in various sectors of the economy, citing the power sector where he said the zone was lifted from neglect to full presidential attention.

He listed projects executed by the administration to include Maiduguri 330/132kV substation; 33 kva transformer for Maiduguri; new transformer for old Baga station; Gombe – Yola 330kV single circuit Transmission Line; Yola – Jalingo 330kV Single Circuit Transmission Line; Gombe -Damaturu – Maiduguri 330kV Single Circuit Transmission Line; Line Bay Extension at Gombe, Yola and Damaturu ;132/33/11 kV, 60MVA Substation at Jalingo.

Others listed by the coordinator include Reinforcement of old
Maiduguri substation with 1x60MVATransformer;Completion of 40MW
Kashimbilla Hydropower project; Construted and Completed 1x30MVA Substations at Mayo Belwa, Mubi, and Gombi in Adamawa State; Connection of Gombe State University Kashere to 33kv line; Construction of 30MW Dandinkowa Hydropower Plant in Gombe State on Concession; Connection of major towns and villages to the National Grid under the Federal Government National Rural Electrification Programme.

On insurgency, the Coordinator said the administration was re- equipping the military and mobilising international support, assuring that the insurgency would be defeated at all cost.

He commended the President for setting up the Victim Support Fund, the presidential committee on distribution of relief materials and the Presidential initiative on North-East

Politics / Osinbajo Contradicts APC, Buhari’s Promise Of 3 Million Jobs Annually by theshadyexpress(m): 7:45am On Jan 17, 2015
The Presidential and vice-presidential candidates of Nigeria’s largest opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo may have contradicted themselves on the job creation policy of their party.

This is because APC had in its Christmas message to Nigerians issued in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, promised the nation that it would create 3million year in, year out.
The APC statement in its eight paragraph, said ”Our eight pledges for a better Nigeria, which are highlights of our manifesto, form the core of our social contract with Nigeria. During our first term in office, we pledge to create 3 million new jobs a year through public works programmes and by shifting the economy towards value-added production will be our primary economic target.”

Similarly, on last Tuesday, APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, assured that he would create 3 million jobs every year to tackle unemployment and also jail corrupt politicians.‎

Buhari at a rally in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to Umana Umana as APC governorship candidate in the state, also stated that “When we come into power, anyone who steals Nigerian money will end up in Kirikiri Maximum Prisons. We are going to make sure that Nigeria’s wealth belongs only to Nigerians.”‎

Buhari’s interesting promise of 3 million jobs every year, is half of what United States President Barack Obama has created in six years of his presidency.

However, APC vice presidential candidate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has at least on two occasions contradicted the “3 million” statement.

According to him, APC plans to introduce a social security scheme for every elderly or disabled Nigerian, just as he promised that its government will provide “720,000 jobs in its first year”.

Osinbajo stated this last Thursday in Benin City when he met with the people of Edo State where reeled out APC’s social and economic programmes.

Addressing a large crowd at Imaguero College Hall, Osinbajo said, “For the first time in the history of Africa, we are introducing a social security scheme. It means the elderly who are poor and the disabled will be given stipends.

“Now the reason why that is important is because our country has continued to be one of the poorest 35 countries in the world despite our resources. We have 110 million people who are extremely poor, so we need to lift people out of poverty,” said the Professor of Law.

Osinbajo added that the APC will ensure that state governments will, with the backing of the Federal Government that has 52% of the revenue control, employ 20,000 young persons per state acting as an emergency relief.

A day earlier (last Wednesday) at the Osogbo City Stadium, Osun state, Osinbajo made the same statement.

Addressing a crowd at the end of a 10-kilometre walk tagged “Walk for Change Nigeria,” Osinbajo lamented the massive youth unemployment in the country, saying a Buhari-led APC government would tackle this.

“We will provide 20,000 jobs in each of the states of Nigeria when we are elected. We will revive our agricultural sector by providing a ready-made market for farmers and encourage them, as the government will be purchasing their farm produce,” Osinbajo promised.

Politics / Rochas We Know: Owerri Crowd Screams No To “will You Vote For Buhari?” Question by theshadyexpress(m): 9:05am On Jan 15, 2015
he Presidential Campaign Rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held Monday in Owerri witnessed Mild Drama as a top chieftain and member Board of Trustees of the APC Chief Ogbonnaya Onu addressed the crowd on the podium to solicit support for General Muhammadu Buhari.

Chief Onu while addressing the crowd gathered at Inyanyanwu stadium on the need for Ibos to support the Buhari candidacy, asked the audience: “Will you vote for Buhari?” and the crowd chorused “NO”. Embarrassed by the response from the crowd, Chief Onu modified the question asking the crowd if they will vote for Rochas Okorocha to which they responded positively.

The Owerri rally was was monitored live by TheWhistle via Channels Television and in attendance were top chieftains of the Party; Buhari’s running mate, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, former CPC national chairman Tony Momoh, Senator Bukola Saraki, Southeast zonal coordinator of the campaign, Senator Chris Ngige, other members‎ of the campaign council.

Politics / Tolu Ebun: Meet Nigeria’s Most Beautiful Political Aspirant by theshadyexpress(m): 6:50pm On Jan 12, 2015
The Nigerian political sphere is dominated by older citizens and that is why one young lady’s ambition has caught the attentions of many.

Tolu Ebun is a pretty young lady who is contesting for the House of Representatives seat of the  Shomolu Federal Constituency  of Lagos State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Not much is known about the aspirant but she is currently one of the trending topics on Twitter with many vowing to vote for her due to her extreme good looks.

Mrs. Ebun won the PDP primaries...

http://www.news247.com.ng/news/tolu-ebun-meet-nigerias-most-beautiful-political-aspirant

More info:

Trending at No.8 is a name that relatively unheard of, well in politics. She is new to a majority of Nigerians. But I can tell you, she isn’t anymore.

Her full names are Tolulope Ebun and to all those guys on twitter, she is a ‘MRS’, meaning she is married.

As I would normally do, I have done my research. Information on her is scarce. By the look of it, she isn’t active on social media as she is yet to have a Twitter handle. COULD SOMEONE INFORM HER TO GET ONE STRAIGHTAWAY.

I guess she must be active on ground to have won the right to represent PDP in Shomolu Federal Constituency where she won the PDP primaries for House of Represents with 24 votes in the election held at the PDP secretariat, Pedro. She defeated Ayokunle Abimbola, Adenike Shobajo, Adebowale Adesegun and Adelani Adeniyi.

Tolu Ebun said that she was happy at her victory. “I thank God for giving me this victory. It will be an opportunity for me to develop youths in my area,” she said. So youths is definitely her focal point. She has to be on Social media for obvious reasons. I can’t see why she doesn’t yet have a presence on Google.

Meanwhile, she will be going up against other candidates such as Wole Diya, younger brother to former Chief of General Staff, Oladipo Diya.

Wole won the primary to represent Shomolu Federal Constituency under APC.

Wole Diya, a former member of the House of Representatives polled 199 votes to defeat Sesan Olanrewaju, who scored 192 votes and Gbenga Abdullahi who got 76 votes.

It should be interesting.

She's currently trending on twitter

I am not defending Buhari. I was just particularly irked because I knew the other ridiculous suggestion likely to come was that Buhari and his clique did the coup just because of Ojukwu, an Ibo Man. I have read even more absurd posts on Nairaland before.

Also the President who was a village dwelling university graduate at the period over simplified what was going on at that time in his rally speech.I am not sure he was reading newspapers regularly in the backwater Yenagoa or Portharcourt suburb he was living then. To say that a "corrective military regime" imprisoned only political enemies was lying to young people at of ignorance. In any case Ojukwu was nobody's enemy in Nigeria at that period.

Shut up,why bring GEJ into these?was it GEJ dat advised ur buhari to steal power and afterwards be scared of his own shadow and start arresting everything dat gives him nightmares?
