The Nigerian Communications
Commission(NCC) last week in
Abuja officially kicked off the
registration of mobile phone
users in Nigeria,stating that the
ongoing efforts by the operators
have got only 12 million out of
89 million mobile phone users in
the country registered. It said the
flag off exercise performed by
the Executive Vice Chairman of
the commission,Dr Eugene
Juwah,was symbolic of its
readiness to commence the
registration of all existing SIM
cards in the country over a
period of six months. He said
that after six months,no
unregistered SIM card would be
used in Nigeria.
The Commission said that the
uniqueness of the NCC-
implemented SIM registration
was that all the lines owned by
the subscribers can be registered
at the same spot against the
current practice whereby
subscribers go from one
operator to another to register
their SIMs. The accredited
registration companies are also
expected to deploy staff across
the nooks and crannies of the
country during the period.
Registration centres may not be
available on all the designated
spots across the country from
the flag off date but are expected
to grow in the course of the
registration exercise.
NCC said at the registration
centres,subscribers would be
required to provide any one of
the following items of
Identification: National Identity
Card, International Passport,
Drivers license. Or authentication
letter with passport photographs
riggode by traditional ruler/
community leader,in the case of
rural areas. Biometric
information of subscribers like
finger prints and digital
photographs are to be taken and
registration is free.

Many at times,we may have seen this problem occur on our blackberry devices and we begin to panic,now i want to tell you that when next this happens,keep your mind at rest as it is just a temporary problem which can be fixed in minutes. This usually occurs when you leave your blackberry device for a pretty long time then when you come back to it,you find out that a white screen with some sort of error code is in the middle. This is known as the white screen of death(WSOD). The white screen is mainly caused by memory leaks on the device and the white screen can simply be fixed BY REMOVING THE BATTERY AND LEAVING IT FOR A MINUTE OR TWO THEN REPLACE IT BACK. By doing this,you clear some memory which could lead to overload. To prevent this kind of thing from happening again,the best way to do it is to let the battery run down before charging it as the white screen of death is usually caused by the link between the battery and the memory.
