TheRareGem1: And this is a wake up call if they block IP addresses from Nigeria for our so called tech gig to come up with our own platform. Okay come up with your own Nigerian Internet platforms and make them go global. You people just talk like it is opening one Iya Bisi shop How is it dumb when the Finance Act 2019 empowers the Federal Government to collect taxes on the Nigerian income of global tech giants with significant economic presence here, even if they have not established an office or permanent establishment and are currently not paying taxes in Nigeria. Section 4 of the Finance Act 2019, provides that “the Minister (Finance) may by order (of the President) determine what constitutes the significant economic presence of a company other than a Nigerian company" ? Okay please tell me how the government will collect the tax or determine the revenue stream of an Internet company from Nigeria especially when the company does not sell taxable digital services like apps but adverts. How will they punish offenders? Who are they going to arrest? |

COMPAQ: It is very enforceable. Go to dubai and try to use WhatsApp to call. It will not work! Even with what ever vpn. If I'm not mistaken you can only chat with WhatsApp there, but not call. They use it to ensure visitors buy tourist sim cards which is expensive that they make money from. They certainly found a way to make WhatsApp unusable. How does that generate tax revenue from online companies for Nigeria? |
Business › Re: How FG Will Tax Profits Made By Global Tech/Digital Giants In Nigeria — Osinbajo by Theunbothered: 9:53pm On Jun 27, 2021 |
TheRareGem1: Big tech companies need to start paying tax seriously, especially those that have huge and massive presence in Nigeria and the financial act is crystal clear. It's high time. Bolustical: Watch out for white slaves who will condemn the FG for this good initiative.
How can a private entity keep making money from Nigeria without remitting its taxes?
Can a Nigerian firm try the same abroad without the FBI/IRS breathing on its neck?
The hatred for Buhari has made some of you haters of your country but we move.
This is dumb and unenforceable because many online companies don't have any offices in Nigeria. Even if they did try and enforce it, the companies would just block access from Nigerian IP addresses if the stress from the government is too much. Many of you use the Internet every day yet have no clue how it works. |

Agricaddict: Are northerners really Muslims? We don't get to hear these things in Saudi Arabia where the religion came from In Saudi Arabia they are very big hypocrites. They can behead a woman for not being modest in the streets but their princes have numerous Indian sex slaves and prostitutes. See a Saudi princess walking about looking like a normal human being but poor people must cover themselves in black bed sheets. The religion is really a form of mind control for the poor.

Microwhy: I am also a twitter user with handful of followers but the ban should go on, atleast for now. Until youths realise how dangerous and harmful their way of using twitter could be. No good news is ever coming out of twitter except bashing and banter. Hate and division is been spread and circulated like wildfire. I whole heartedly dislike/hate this government and its policies but Nigerian youths need to realise that Buhari is not Nigeria and there will still be Nigeria after 2023. Please, we should not allow just one single incompetent man to destroy what we've built overtime. What have we built overtime please? Poverty, infrastructure rot, ethnic hatred, corruption and religious fanaticism is what Nigeria is known for. People are being killed by foreign invaders, the government is shielding them, Gumi is advocating for their crimes and citizens have had enough yet you want to blame decades of mismanagement on youths protesting and talking about major issues online. It's the millions of people like you who led Nigeria to be a global disgrace. People who defend rubbish and sit idly by as your future is stolen away from you. If given the chance you will vote Buhari for a third term because you are in love with suffering! |

Over 80% of other legit businesses doing business on Twitter are also present on other social networks especially on Instagram. But why all these propaganda self, I thought VPN is there to save the day. colestephan86: Yes , but same people complaining about the effect of the ban on their businesses didn't speak out when it was being used by enemies of the state to wage war and call for war. It affected me too, but you know I like Water must find a way and move on. If they should ban nairaland one day I really wonder if you would sing the same tune. IamCookie: Your response shows how smart you are tho. Having said that, every political party's aim is to hold onto power . It's better to vote based on candidate? Agreed! What if APC ( "evil party"- your perception) presents a worthy candidate with requisite leadership skills and attitudes in the forthcoming general election, will you vote for him/her ? To say APC is the worst option for Nigeria is arguable, considering past actions of PDP , as a party, thereby bringing about unpalatable reactions during APC led administration. The political process is Nigeria and the orientation of its actors is already faulty. I really don't know what Nigeria, as a country will become in years to come among comity of nations. It's so unfortunate! That's the thing, APC presently can never field an actual progressive candidate. Look at Buhari, who has been a monumental disappointment and look at who they want to replace him with, Tinubu, El-Rufai and even Yahaya Bello. APC members routinely excuse or even support criminal actions of the present administration and Fulani extremists out of ethnic hatred or just so their preferred candidate can take over from Buhari. APC is evil because it's members place the reputation of Buhari and the political ambition of Tinubu over the welfare of Nigerians. They only come back to their senses when the party kicks them out like Dawisu. It was created as an amalgamation of different parties, with no coherent ideology aside from defeating PDP and their neo dictatorship must be stopped at all costs. |

IamCookie: So, which party do you suggest we bring into power ? There are 17 other parties to choose from, the bottom line is that APC is composed of evil characters who's only ideology is holding on to power and making citizens suffer at all costs. It is better to vote based on candidates than parties but as far as I'm concerned the APC in it's current form is the worst option for Nigeria. |

Romance › Re: Guys Get Severe Consequences For Cheating On Women These Days!!! by Theunbothered: 10:08pm On Jun 24, 2021 |
Hillarie: You seem to be well versed in history, I must say. However, correction, polygamy isn't illegal or socially unacceptable as you put it. It's a matter of choice and no one criticizes that. But infidelity? Well, that's a form of betrayal. Polygamy is illegal in most countries, and multiple wives legally not recognised in Nigeria.. Also infidelity is a modern concept. In the past rich men and women were expected to have concubines and multiple partners outside marriage because most of the time they married for political reasons. As long as no children were made most people didn't care and saw it as an issue they dealt with God to resolve. Only after the introduction of romanticism was cheating made out to be a big deal.

Hillarie: Good. I want to believe those other "societies" include Africa, Europe, Asia, America and others. In Nigeria enforced monogamy was unheard of until colonisation. It is only after colonisation and the spread of Christianity that having multiple wives was made illegal and socially unacceptable. |
Romance › Re: Guys Get Severe Consequences For Cheating On Women These Days!!! by Theunbothered: 9:35pm On Jun 24, 2021 |
Hillarie: So you're saying monogamy is an European thing whilst polygamy is African? You're dead wrong, sir. If you want more than one sexual partner, you can always discuss with your partner to see if they are cool with it. Change your religion if you wish to marry many wives! Strict monogamy is a Roman invention, before that societies around the world were polygamous |
