Abagworo: I agree with you 100% but the use of the phrase "by far" is too extreme. It is better you simply use "the most populous". Anambra is the 2nd smallest State in landmass and that makes its population density higher than all States except Lagos which is the smallest. Imo is the 3rd smallest and is also the 3rd most densely populated.

The total population of Anambrians by my estimate should be around 16million while Imo is around 13million worldwide. In terms of residence Anambra might be around 5million to 5.5million people while Imo is between 4.5million to 4.8million people.
grin The first time abaworo is making sense since joining Nairaland!

Politics › Re: Nigeria's 121 Million Mobile Phone Subscribers Live On $1 A Day? by thewarrior72: 10:45pm On Nov 28, 2013
Pukkah: Is the benchmark of $1 or $1.25 per day the issue or the fact that millions of Nigerians are swimming in poverty?

According to the Statistician General of Nigeria, 93.9% of Nigerians considered themselves to be poor. shocked shocked

According to the same man, poverty rate stood at 69% in 2010. According to this report, about 112million Nigerians lived below poverty level.

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/02/93-9-nigerians-considered-themselves-to-be-poor-nbs/

Clearly, owning a mobile phone or buying a bottle of beer is not the yardstick for measuring poverty.
Considered is different from actually been poor.,Me I considerd myself poor, but I don't live on one 1$ a day!!
Politics › Re: Nigeria's 121 Million Mobile Phone Subscribers Live On $1 A Day? by thewarrior72: 10:35pm On Nov 28, 2013
I subscribe to the op's opinion, one dollar can't afford average plate of food.
For instance, 1$=170, Average plate of food is 200 to 250 so where did they get this 1% dollar myth.
For once, I had never believed that 1$ bullshit

egift: Keep up the hatred coming. Will you have a problem with a Christian-Christian ticket? When it is time to get competent hands to lead Nigeria to greatness and kick out the Ogogoro, APC will do the needful smiley
Actually, Christian Christian ticket should be encouraged. I & u knew that there are no Christian fanatics or extremist in Nigeria that would want to Christianise Nigeria grin

egift: Sounds good BUT cannot win the Presidency.

I will go for Buhari/Fashola any day. Buhari majority of the North if they can get the Northern elites to back it. While the SW will back Fashola. With a little from MB, SS and SE - it is a landslide.

The SE can be given the Senate and SS a top slot too. It is possible to pull this off.

JulianBond007: I totally agree with you Odum! There are more of Anambra people migrating outside their state than any other southeastern state which makes them lesser in population. The highest population is between Enugu and Imo.

lorretta u: Apology accepted smiley

Women aren't meant to discuss this

Why? I'd like to learn why
Nothing much, but if u are truly nwa-afo igbo, u should know that the issue of OSU in some part of igboland is a very delicate matter& it's not a public domain discussion& in thesame vain it isn't a matter for women to delve into.

As I said earlier, let us forget it, it does not exist anymore.
And remember it's now illegal& abominable to use that word in real life conversation in igboland.

Spirit1: Osu has been abolished in Igbo land by whohuh? What have you been drinking?..where have you been?? Go and read some history on Micheal Okpara who purportedly "abolished" Osu and other caste system in Igbo land. I am not advocating that people should be treated differently but "it is what it is" when it comes to Osu in Igboland. Be mindful that the Igbos are not the only group of people with a caste system. Indians have a well established caste system worse than Igbos.

Truckpusher: You can actually lie to everyone ,but certainly not to your heart because the very lie you tell people originates from your heart. undecided

Go google up things and see the systemic application of your shameful culture, infact somebody in this thread actually said that she jokingly brought up the issue before her people and that she was seriously rebuked .

Denying the obvious is as shameless as those that carry out such barbaric acts in this 21st century.
undecidedWould u rather believe what outsiders told u ,than a report of an insider.
As write this, the Osu balderdash had been abolished in igboland, especially Anambra state

lorretta u: I was told that an osu is one who has been sacrificed to the gods (for one reason or another) or anyone who ran into a shrine for protection in case of danger or hot pursuit. Automatically becomes OSU,hence belongs to the gods and cannot mingle with free people, marry them or live with them
All his offspring is Osu and cannot relate to a free person (diala) even into the thousandth generation sad

Many igbos still practise this. My people can dig and dig into the past to make sure the bride or groom isn't of OSU lineage. Even The great grandchildren of the old OSUs aren't marriageable by free people. They believe it has grave consequences (barreness, death illness etc)

Me thinks *bladerdash*

Afam4eva: From my understanding, an OSU is a descendant of those that were sacrificed to the gods and the only way you'll know an Osu is if you're told. It's not written on the forehead. I've never seen an Osu in my life and invariably have not seen the discrimination people keep talking about. Though i heard there are communities that are wholly Osu people.
undecided I will advice u stop commenting on that, that's not the topic of this thread
