Lionel Messi is a real team leader.
Some player i know will want to score the last penalty, just to take all glory for himself but leaders like Lionel Messi will always lead the way.
See how Messi's leg was bloodied during the match by those ultraphysical Colombians yet he carried on as if twas nothing. And nitwits be saying he doesn't have character under pressure.

Martinez is a hit back to back to back! 3 pks saved is no mean feat.

It's obvious Di Maria is our wild card when opposing legs are fading. Dunno if this tactic will work against Brazil though.

Was so disappointed with that Lautaro miss of empty net. Thank God we re through.

I was also impressed by his fluency.

Generally, Europeans are essentially intelligent set of people and avid explorers.. Majority of them can speak more than one major international language.
That's generally right, but some European countries are more predisposed to learning English as a second language than others e.g Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, while some others like Italy and Spain are heavily invested in their local language. You are likely to find more English speakers in Switzerland than in italy which is why I was surprised by Chiesa.

Very unfair comment considering all the efforts Koeman put in to polish the boy to make him the better player we are seeing right now.

Of course Enrique is the better coach but give Koeman credit. I believe Pedri owe his rise to stardom to him.
Admittedly, Pedri has vindicated your staunch support for his continued selection by Koeman last season. Tis unfortunate that likeable enthusiastic Puig had to suffer for that but it is what it is.

Most non English European countries offer English as a second language to be taught in schools and some are made polyglots by their parents from childhood, Mbappe can speak I think at least 2 languages
Thanks, I suspected this was the case as well.

Lol
Did you watch Xavi speak after match during his days at Barcelona?

Even now.... Fans are shocked when he granted his last interview about Messi staying in English.
Well, I've never seen Xavi speak English. But at least he's been around for a while and might have learnt it out of necessity for his coaching career. I'm just surprised about Chiesa. Looks like he's known how to speak it for a while and considering how young he is, he might have learnt it from School.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by ThierryJay: 11:12pm On Jul 06, 2021
Pls, anyone knows where Chiesa learnt to speak English so fluently?

I honestly wasn't disappointed. The penalty was definitely gonna be a shutty one considering that not many of them are penalty takers. Glad they put on a good fight during regular time.
True, they gave Italy a rude reality check.

If anything was gonna be their bad luck, it had to be the connection with those trophyless lots.
Well, in retrospect, no one actually expected Spain to do so well at this tournament. So in a way, they over achieved and should hold their heads high.

Congrats to Italy. To be honest once it got to penalties, i knew there was only going to be one winner.

Italy get advantage for this P.K o. Spanish team are soft kickers.

Modified: I said it. Soft kicks will be Spain's downfall in P.Ks

Allow them to talk grin grin every sane person that isn't a Cule knows Busquets is a finished man
Finished man that a treble winning coach is playing for 120 minutes against the supposedly best side in the tournament? Based on your comment, one of you or Enrique is clueless. Enrique is in the Semis so I think the answer is obvious.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by ThierryJay: 9:59pm On Jul 06, 2021
I'm really impressed by Spain so far. I always knew they were going to hog possession but didnt expect they'd also be this incisive enough to create dangerous opportunities behind the Italian backline. Busquets, Pedri and Olmo have been key to this strategy.

Spain basically starved Italy of many counter attacking opportunities using possession and have made Italy look ordinary which is no mean feat. Bravo.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by ThierryJay: 8:27pm On Jul 06, 2021
@Firstbornwds - While there may be some truth to age impacting on CR's free-kick prowess, I believe that cannot be the sole contributor simply because Juninho and Pirlo in their old years were still scoring several free-kicks using the knuckle ball technique. In fact Juninho scored up to 30 free-kicks after the age of 30 with many of them knuckle balled styled. With Juninho, any free kick within 40 yards was a danger to the opponent.

I swear. I remember the day he came to my church in Surulere back in like 98...see how girls were going Gaga...even in church. I was like, WTF. The guy was a sex symbol for real.
Lol, in fact, it made me aware that some girls like a guy to have big firm bumbum, cos that part of him was always a positive raving point by the ladies to the point of my annoyance.

Congrats to RMD, Nollywood's first true loverman before the likes of Ramsey Nouah and Emeka Ike.

I remember the way girls used to fawn all over him in the 90s like he was some Michael Jackson.

Even at 60, his looks' still killing it madly. Wouldn't mind those kind of genes for maself.

He made it to theatre week. He left because the judges claimed they didn't perform well as group.
Oh okay. Didnt know that as I did not see him in any of the groups even though I was looking out for him. I mean look at that brilliant rendition of Adele's one and only he did back then. Only Kingdom can better that level of vocal performance in this seasons idols.

You're very correct.Naomi and Dapo did amazingly n the judge had to make a choice .Meanwhile ,I feel that those 3 guys -Kitay, Easter n Naomi are cheats ,lol as they have been to other great competition and went as far as first runner up (Kitay project fame and Naomi - first runner Idol)even Easter was a winner of one singing competition
Lol it's true. But since they didnt win before they re legit cheats. grin

Funny enough, there was also one guy called Obed who was a former project fame and the Voice 2016 contestant. The guys vocals is quite unique. I was shocked to see him audition during the first stage of this current Idols and even more shocked that he didnt even make it to theatre week. I mean this is a veteran Ajala travels of singing competitions.

Abeg Francis is very overrated. His voice cracks alot when he sings. He just has a unique Baritone. Abeg don't compare him to those guys you mentioned. He isn't at their level. Only Kingdom is The Voice material
I dont think he is overrated. I think he is just not consistent. Sometimes he sounds spectacular case in point the Sam Smith rendition of writing on the wall, other times he is just ordinary. It's about the consistency for me. Though I agree he is not as good as any of the Voice top 5

And bro dont take this too personal. It's all about preference.

I am quite glad with how things turned out so far. Nigerian idols proving again to be more credible than the sham called the voice Nigeria
Even with Idols greater credibility, it still doesn't match the Voice in terms of contestant quality. As it stands, the last two left, Kingdom and Francis are the only Idols contestants who can hold a candle vocally to Esther, Naomi, Dapo, Kitay and Anuoluwa. No other Idols contestants can compete talentwise with these five from Voice.

Even Nurse Tosin from Voice is vocally better than Akunna, Idols number 3.
