Sheikh Muhammad Khalid, the Chief Imam of Apo Legislator’s Quarter’s Jumat Mosque has cancelled the special i’tikaaf prayer normally observed by Muslims during the last 10 days of Ramadan in that Mosque.
I’tikaaf is an optional special prayer offered my Muslims during the last 10 days of Ramadan.

During that period, a Muslim is required to retire to the Mosque and remain in seclusion solely with the intention of offering prayers and supplication to Allah.

Khalid announced the cancellation of the prayer in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Wednesday.

He said the move had become necessary following increased insecurity in the country.
He added that ``everyone can testify to the fact that insecurity is becoming higher; bombings have become the order of the day in the North, especially in the North Eastern part of the country.

``We need to join hands with government to do whatever we can possibly do in our capability to tackle it headlong.
``However, it is a very difficult task to tackle because of the faceless nature of the Boko Haram members that have been terrorising Nigeria.’’

Khalid then urged other Imams not to allow the special prayer in their Mosques so as not to jeopardise the security of potential participants.
He said that allowing people to gather in the Mosque for the special prayer was not safe and called for attitudinal change by Nigerians in order to move the country forward.

He urged the Federal Government to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youths to avoid restiveness, stressing that ``providing employment for the youths will take them off the streets.

``Taking the youths off the streets will go a long way in reducing crimes and criminality in the country.’’

The Imam said security was a collective responsibility and should not be left in the hands of government alone.
He advised security agencies to intensify their intelligence gathering to enable them to overcome the activities of insurgency in the country.
He said ``security agents should be able to know the flash points in the areas affected by insurgency and how to overpower them.

``Knowing the flashpoints will go a long way in making security agency’s task easier and more effective.’’ (NAN)

Ahead of his inauguration as Kaduna state governor, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai on Wednesday announced the appointments of key officials in his incoming government.

El-Rufai, in a statement he personally signed in Kaduna, named Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal as Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

The statement further said that Malam Salisu Suleiman has been appointed Principal Private Secretary, while Mr. Abu Musa Sheyin will serve as Private Secretary to Mr. Barnabas Yusuf Bala, the deputy governor-elect.

The Governor-elect also announced the appointment of Hon. Bala Yunusa as deputy Chief Of Staff (Legislative Affairs) and Samuel Aruwan as his Special Assistant, Media

The appointments take effect from Friday, 29 May 2015.

Lawal, a former lecturer, served as Chief of Staff when El-Rufai was minister of the FCT. He was a director in the Nasir El-Rufai Campaign Organization and currently chairs the Kaduna State APC Transition Committee. Lawal had previously taught in the defunct College of Advance Studies, (CAS) now Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, and at the Administrative College of Nigeria (ASCON), Badagry, Lagos.

Suleiman, the incoming PPS, holds a Ph.D in Public Policy. He has worked in the public sector and the academia.

Sheyin is a former secretary and acting chairman of Jemaa Local Government, among other positions he has held in the public service.

Yunusa, a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, worked in the Kaduna State APC Campaign Council and is serving on a sub-committee of the Transition Committee.

Aruwan worked as spokesman of the Kaduna State APC Campaign Council in the 2015 elections. He began formal media practice in LEADERSHIP Newspapers, rising to chief of its Kaduna Bureau. Until his appointment, he was heading the Kaduna bureau of the Blueprint Newspapers Limited.

Meanwhile, the governor-elect has wished the appointees success in their new assignments.

In August 1975, after General Murtala Mohammed took power that year, he appointed Buhari as Governor of the North-Eastern State, to oversee social, economic and political improvements in the state.

In February 1976, the North Eastern state was divided by the Military Government into Bauchi, Borno and Gongola states. In August 1991, Yobe state was created from Borno state, while Gongola state was split into two states, Taraba and Adamawa. In October 1996, Gombe State was created from Bauchi State.

Divorce rates have increased first and foremost as a result of:
1. Not fulfilling the rights and duties of Allah,
2. Transgressing the boundaries set by Him(SWT).

And so Allah punishes a person or a married couple by causing destablisation within the marital relationship.


Divorce rates are also on the increase as a result of:
1. After one or both of the spouses began treating the rights and obligations of each other and their children lightly.
2. Parents getting involved with the affairs of their married children, where they shouldn’t be getting involved.
3. Divorce is increasing due to gambling, consuming intoxicants such as alcohol and illicit drugs.
4. Divorce continues to rise as result of engagement in unlawful matters: mixed weddings, music and singing, not adhering to the correct Islamic apparel, purchasing houses and cars through riba (usury and interest), in addition to insuring them through prohibited means.

5. Divorce continues to rise as more and more Muslims are refraining from paying zakaat, and due to their neglect and abandonment of Salaat, which the scholars of Islam said is one of the fundamental contributing factors towards divorce.

5. Divorce is increasing as result of not lowering the gaze from looking at the opposite gender that Allah commanded not to be looked at, whether this happens on the streets, in shopping centers, watching television, on the internet, or other places.
