Rheinmetall is looking to establish a Development Centre in South Africa to develop munitions for various international clients and is currently in talks with a potential launch customer. The purpose of the Rheinmetall Development Centre is to develop munitions ranging from grenades, mortars and artillery shells to rockets and other munitions. “We have requirements to develop ammunition from various users,” Rheinmetall Denel CEO Norbert Schulze said in explaining the idea behind the centre. Schulze said it was somewhat difficult at present to get export licenses out of Germany and much more supportive for defence businesses through South Africa’s National Conventional Arms Control Committee (NCACC), making South Africa a better choice for such a facility. He added that there were many benefits to having the facility in South Africa, such as the development of new technology, the ability to use ranges like Alkantpan and the Overberg Test Range and the development of skills. The Centre would benefit both Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM) and other Rheinmetall companies as well as local universities. |

Nigeria On The Precipice: Why It Has Failed To Defeat Boko Haram And What Must Be Done Now! By Dr. Ijabla Raymond Nigeria is a regional power and has taken part in many successful peacekeeping missions in Africa and around the world. Unfortunately, this giant is now confronted with a type of problem that it seems incapable of solving on its own. Only last week, a Channel 4 Dispatches documentary entitled “Nigeria’s Hidden War” revealed damning footages of unprofessional behaviour and gross human rights abuses by Nigerian soldiers in their attempt to contain BH. Their methods were indistinguishable from those employed by BH and have been rightly condemned by Amnesty International. Quite why the largest army in Africa with its impressive record of successful international peacekeeping missions cannot defeat a domestic terrorist organisation is everybody’s guess. Why was this organisation even allowed to grow when it could have been nipped in the bud? The failure of the army to defeat BH has been attributed to corruption, unprofessionalism, under-resourcefulness, lack of equipment, poor motivation, the deliberate crippling of the military by successive military governments to prevent coups, and the infiltration of the army’s rank and file by BH sympathisers and saboteurs. But there is a more important reason - poor understanding of BH's mission or a denial of it. http://saharareporters.com/2014/08/27/nigeria-precipice-why-it-has-failed-defeat-boko-haram-and-what-must-be-done-now-dr-ijabla |
TACTICAL DELAY BY THE NIGERIAN SOLDIERS AS WAS WITH TACTICAL RETREAT The Nigerian military is in the process of constituting a trial panel to try over 100 soldiers said to have exhibited “acts of cowardice” and “disobeyed deployment directives” in Maiduguri on Saturday, reliable military insiders have told PREMIUM TIMES. The soldiers were among several hundred troops being deployed from the army’s 7th Division in Maiduguri to locations in Damboa and Gwoza for major operations planned to significantly rout the extremist Boko Haram sect from the areas. “But as we were about to depart, some of the soldiers began to behave funny,” a witness said. “They were acting in ways that were delaying the movement. This was a movement that had been timed and we had to arrive locations at a time that should coincide with other operational arrangements. And then these guys were slowing us down.” The witness said at a point, the commander of the troop became fed up with the antics of the “lazy soldiers” and he immediately ordered that they be disarmed, stripped of their uniforms and dropped from the operation. The rest of the detachment then continued the journey, our sources said. Other witnesses corroborated these disclosures. - See more at: https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/166859-exclusive-nigerian-military-to-court-martial-over-100-soldiers-for-cowardice.html#sthash.AME59MT8.dpuf |

Boko Haram Militants Relocating From Sambisa To Captured Territories In Northeastern Nigeria Eyewitnesses in the villages near Sambisa forest told SaharaReporters that the insurgents had been moving their families and possibly many of their abductees to safer grounds in towns captured in recent weeks. llagers living near Sambisa forest in Borno State have reported seeing a large number of Boko Haram militants leaving the wooded redoubt yesterday morning and moving towards southern Borno. A security source, who spoke to SaharaReporters, confirmed the account of the villagers. He said Nigeria’s intelligence agents were aware that members of the deadly sect, who had been holed up in a thick forest the size of Western Virginia in the United States, seemed to be relocating to the large swath of territory they have captured in recent daring attacks. |
AN ARMY ON THE RAMPAGE KILLING CIVILLIANS WITH IMPUNITY Corruption and gross, malicious ineptitude of the fourth republic has taken its toll on the Nigerian security department, the last remaining, touted vestige of decency in the nation. It can no longer be denied that the military and entire security network of the nation right up to the office of national security, ONSA and ministry of defense has been compromised. In September last year, PremiumTimes and SaharaReporters broke a story about a security massacre of innocent citizens squatting in a building in Apo area, Abuja. The Nigerian forces had reportedly simply fired upon squatting civilians who they were reportedly trying to evict from the building. The security department claimed it was a battle with terrorists and that guns were found. Their claims were all later proven to be lies and this month the Nigerian Human Rights (NHRC) indicted the Directorate of State Security, DSS of murder. Prior to this, there had been several reports and serious complaints by human right associations and concerned citizens that the military was killing as many or more innocent civilians than the terrorists were, as it battled Boko Haram in the north. There were and still are many complaints of the military actually withdrawing forces to permit Boko Haram terror attacks, including in the killing of distinguished army veteran, General Muhammed Shuwa in 2012, in whose case it was reported by PM News that soldiers actually watched as he was killed. http://saharareporters.com/2014/04/17/national-security-nigeria%E2%80%99s-military-being-compromised |

SOUTH AFRICA DID TEST A NUCLEAR DEVICE ...A study released Tuesday by opponents of South Africa's apartheid system asserts that a 1979 "double flash of light" detected by a U.S. intelligence satellite in the South Atlantic was a nuclear explosion. The study suggests the alleged test was carried out by South Africa The 29-page report, released by Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.) and the Washington Office on Africa, a private church- and union-based lobbying group, accused the Administration of President Jimmy Carter of engaging at the time in a cover-up by casting doubt that the mystery flashes were actually caused by a nuclear device. The report, written by Ronald Walters, a Howard University political science professor, said evidence was provided indicating that the flashes were not a natural phenomenon. He said the evidence came in part from tests showing high levels of radioactivity in the thyroids of Australian sheep soon after the flashes were spotted by the U.S. satellite, the Vela. |

Ninety-eight percent of all 6 000 parts of the AHRLAC aircraft were designed and produced locally by the engineering team, says Paramount Group. The aircraft, a global first, addresses a key industry need by performing the combined tasks that previously required four separately configured planes. It integrates designs from attack helicopters, surveillance platforms and reconnaissance aircraft, with ability to carry surveillance, weapons, radar and electronic warfare systems. This has brought advanced operational solutions, historically requiring more costly aircraft or complex unmanned aerial surveillance systems. Paramount Group Executive Chairperson, Ivor Ichikowitz, says: "AHRLAC is a home-grown, world-class capability that will enable developing countries and advanced nations to strengthen and diversify their security infrastructure. It offers the global industry a new, very cost-effective and multi-role solution that will change the way global air forces procure and structure their air fleets. AHRLAC is a solution shaped for today's modern threats like insurgencies, piracy, poaching and terrorism." SubmitHRLAC is a groundbreaking example of what Africa is capable of producing and will be a key solution to bolster Africa's capability to deal with its security issues. However, AHRLAC is not only a solution for Africa, but for defence forces around the world, whether from developing countries or from nations with advanced and sophisticated defence capabilities. |
A high-level Nigerian security source told SaharaReporters that Nigeria’s intelligence agencies have received “credible reports that Boko Haram has developed an ambitious plan to overwhelm and take over Kano, Kaduna, Niger, Kogi and Nasarawa states.” The source said the Islamist terrorist group plans to carry out its design by intensifying its bombings and choosing locations that would yield high casualty figures. “Their move is to encircle [Nigeria’s capital city of] Abuja and increase the level of political instability in the country,” our source revealed. The high-level intelligence agent disclosed that the shape of the terror group’s plans have emerged from the confessions of some Boko Haram insurgents who were captured recently. “We have also acquired a lot of information about their [Boko Haram’s] plans through our interrogation of Aminu Sadiq Oguche.” Mr. Oguche, who was recently extradited to Nigeria from Sudan, is accused of masterminding some of the recent high-profile bomb blasts in Nigeria, including explosions at a bus station in Abuja that claimed more than 100 lives. In addition, security agents have gleaned “significant and useful intelligence” from interrogating one Mohammed Zakari, described as “the chief butcher” of Boko Haram. Mr. Zakari was recently arrested in Bauchi, capital of Bauchi State. http://saharareporters.com/2014/07/31/boko-haram-working-seize-kano-kaduna-niger-kogi-and-nasarawa-states%E2%80%94says-intelligence |

Insurgents of the Islamist terror group, Boko Haram, today made further advances in territorial grab by once more taking over Gamboru-Ngala, a key township on the border between Nigeria and Cameroon. Today’s attack by a heavily armed contingent of the terror sect marked the second time Boko Haram fighters targeted and seized parts of the town. In the latest operation, the insurgents first attacked and sacked an army barrack in Ngala before proceeding to Gamboru about three kilometers away. The sect took over the town without resistance from Nigerian troops. In a response to the attacks, the Nigerian Air Force jet later dropped a massive bomb in the middle of Gamboru after hovering for several minutes in the air. The jet then left while the militants began a house-to-house raid in Gamboru. A contingent of Nigerian troops was later seen massing close to a bridge earlier destroyed by insurgents during their first attack on Gamboru. A security source told SaharaReporters that Boko Haram desperately wants to seize full control of Gamboru-Ngala because the extensive area offers great strategic advantages. “If they completely capture the township, Boko Haram will be able to use it to transact economic and military business,” said the source. He further explained, “The township will enable them [to] freely move arms into Nigeria in order to fortify their control of the seized territories they have declared an Islamic Caliphate.” http://saharareporters.com/2014/08/25/boko-haram-recaptures-gamboru-ngala-nigerian-cameroonian-border |
NIGERIAN ARMY SAVED BY CAMEROON....HAIL CAMEROON HAIL CAMEROON Cameroonian officials have confirmed that at least 480 Nigerian soldiers are now in the protective custody of the neighboring country’s gendarmes after they crossed into Cameroon earlier today to escape from Boko Haram insurgents who have launched a massive offensive. Cameroonian gendarmes had disarmed the Nigerian soldiers, officials from the West African nation told a correspondent of the Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) today. The fleeing soldiers are being held in an undisclosed school inside Cameroon, according to senior Cameroonian officials who spoke to the BBC. Earlier today, SaharaReporters had reported that Boko Haram militants took over a Nigerian army base in Ngala, Borno State, before proceeding to attack the town of Gamboru on the Nigerian-Cameroon border. The insurgents retook the town which they had attacked and seized several weeks ago. Nigerian troops had subsequently used aerial bombardment and ground attacks to wrest Gamboru back from the Islamist insurgents. Our security sources had disclosed that the militants faced no resistance from Nigerian troops during their massive attacks on Ngala-Gamboru today. Instead, the Nigerian soldiers were so overwhelmed that they fled across the border in large numbers and into the waiting hands of Cameroonian soldiers who instantly disarmed them. http://saharareporters.com/2014/08/25/close-500-nigerian-soldiers-flee-cameroon-avoid-confrontation-boko-haram |
THIS IS INDICTMENT TO THE SO CALLED INTELLIGENCE CAPACITY OF THE NIGERIAN SECURITY FORCES Only recently over 200 members of Boko Haram sect were alleged to have moved to one of the nation’s neighbouring countries, Cameroon and kidnapped the wife of the Deputy Prime Minister, Amadou Ali. Few days after the abduction, the Cameroonian Army in a successful operation, rescued the abducted deputy Prime Minister’s wife. The quick rescue came on the heels of over 200 Female students of Government Secondary Schoool, Chibok, Borno that have been held captive for 110 days now. With no arrest of those behind the kidnap of Chibok girls and no rescue of the girls by our security agencies, Saturday Vanguard sought to know what the action in Cameroun tells of our security agencies. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/08/rescue-cameroon-ministers-wife-nigerian-military-proved-impotent/#sthash.GAvlfwfb.dpuf |
This viDeo confirms that Nigerian army was chased by BH and civillians who were fleeing attest to the fact that they were joined by NIGERIAN COWARDS ARMY ABout 480 government soldiers, who had previously fled into Cameroon after heavy fighting with Boko Haram insurgents are currently being repatriated to Nigeria by Cameroonian Authorities. As previously reported by an AP news article, civilians fleeing into Cameroon gave accounts of being joined by Nigerian soldiers who were retreating from heavy fighting with Boko Haram insurgents in the border town of Gamboru. Embarrassed By Escape Of 480 Troops To Cameroon, Nigeria's Military Claims "Tactical Maneuver". A SaharaReporters source has revealed that’s the troops re entered Nigeria on a longer route through Adamawa state, rather than Borno state, after being transported in a long convoy under tight security escort. The source said a long convoy transporting the troops entered Nigeria through a longer route from Adamawa state, rather than Borno state, and will soon join their units to continue operations against the Boko Haram militant fighters. A security source based in the Maidugiri had previously informed SaharaReporters that Boko Haram sought to control the expansive areas of the Gamboru-Ngala for the strategic location and vibrant commercial infrastructure conducive for establishment of an Islamic caliphate. http://saharareporters.com/2014/08/26/cameroon-repatriates-480-absconding-nigerian-soldiers |
