I am still surprised at the utter lack of comprehension of Nigerians. What exactly did Senator Sumaila Kawu say that RMAFC did not already disclose considering the actual salary versus the allowances which is not a salary? But in his BBC Hausa interview, Kawu said, “The amount of salary received per month is less than N1 million. If there are cuts, it comes back to about N600,000. In the senate, each senator is given N21 million every month as the cost of running his office.”The Senator practically corroborated what RMAFC said, but we just want to insist that the National Assembly is like a salary windfall for whoever find themselves there. The salary of a Senator is totally different from the allowances that is used to run the office of a Senator. |
Constituted Authority! |
Has he said anything different from what RMFAC has already clarified? |
ChiefOloye:Very sad that billionaires beg. |
Since Peter Obi grew poverty in Anambra while keeping public funds in his own bank to generate profit for his shares, things have fallen apart and no longer at ease.

InifinteXR:You are right if the small country is able to generate income from natural resources that provide for all government spending. Nigerian natural resources income that includes oil, is not even able to provide for 10% of spending that the government need to develop the country beyond our current 3rd world status. |
CodeTemplar:Transportation is a factor of commerce, and commerce will continue to grow economies. |
CodeTemplar: CodeTemplar:How much do the roads all over the country generate for the government? Yet they are still built with money because the transportation of commuters and goods is a necessity of itself. |
It cannot be escaped. Protest or no protest, government must always raise funds to run the country. I will only advise every government to focus on more taxing for the fat cats who cannot even stage a protest in the midst of the luxury they already enjoy. But not too much taxation that prevents their creation of jobs for the ever angry mob. To run campaign as a populist supported by the youth, is not the same reality with taking hard decisions as a leader for the greater good. |
lacasera14:You and I agree that for already rich men to go there, there is something there. That something is influence, more popularity, and more power. Many Governors go there to wait until another opportunity at executive power beckons, either as a principal officer in the National assembly, or as a minister, or head of a government agency or diplomatic embassy, or the Presidency of the country. That place is only a place to wait until another executive role is avaliable. That is why many would gladly leave the National Assembly to take up a ministerial portfolio that is an executive position. Majority of them do not need any money from the Senate. I have once argued that a sincere and poor Nigerian who finds himself at the Senate or HOR, will find that the salary and allowances to be earned, is not enough to cater for the needs it has been allocated for, vis a vis the expectation from Nigerians that their Senator must always have money to give his extended family and his constituency members. |
I have always asserted that there is nothing outrageous about the salary of a Nigerian legislator. While allowances are for the purpose they were allowed. |
lacasera14:How many poor men have become Senators? Is Orji Kalu's lifestyle dependent on Senator Salary or that of the late Ifeanyi Ubah, or Gbenga Daniel? Many of you believe the miseducation and reject the actual education because of your anarchy mindset. |
Peter Obi has always been a curse and a bad omen according to Igbos who experienced his rule in Anambra. An Excellency with a very mediocre and charlatan mindset.
|
Sapasenator:If education is expensive, try ignorance. Now they will pay dearly for their ignorance. |
In Olamide's voice, Governor Ambode ko f'osi. |
Imagine being married to this kind of person instead of remaining single. |
I talk am say our electricity generation capacity has refused to surge forward beyond the 4000MW that the Obasanjo 2nd term administration kept announcing. 17years later, we are talking about 3500MW. Nigeria we hail thee. As the anthem don kuku return, we are returning to the past, rather than make progress. |
seunmsg:Everything just falling in place when you pursue your own glory. Unlike those who pursue vengeance and are waiting for sweet poison like this fellow below on another Nairaland topic. Ojiofor: |
Greenvaiper:Tears of a misinformed loser. What could be the consequence of the next in line to assume what is a traditional step up? Yes, the President is Yoruba. What can you do about it that you did not already do to prevent it that ended in failure? |
Ok. Kekere-Ekun about to become Nla-Ekun. |
NaMe4:Exactly! |
DMerciful:It is like this Igbo boy did not get the memo where Peter Obi that he worships, confirmed that President Tinubu was elected and holds the mandate of the people? Technically over kor, technically started nii. Demystified that Nigerians protested like every regime before his own also experienced? God help this people and their mental handicap. Inadvertently admitting that despite his daily lamentations on Nairaland, he secretly held Tinubu to the highest esteem beyond any other President or politician. |
Dpharisee:Yes they have moved on to the new agenda for sweet revenge in 2027, since sweet revenge in 2023 did not materialize. How can a whole tribe be playing politics with the sole intention of vengeance? Are you not ashamed of this? |
Ojiofor:The sweet Igbos wanted to taste in 2023, but Tinubu proved to be unstoppable and left you a bitter taste for the agony? Una still dey wait to taste it in 2027, even if you have to be a servant in PDP that you have been serving since 1999? What if Tinubu still proves to be unstoppable in 2027? Will PDP finally zone their presidential ticket to SouthEast for 2031, or are Igbos in perpetual servitude to PDP without deserving any shot at the presidential ticket of the party? You want to copy the SouthWest to play sophisticated politics you did not originate? OK, ooooo. Make your attempt at copy copy no turn to domesticated slave for the Igbo people. Be original and quit looking to avenge a delusional wrong done to you. Instead, pursue your own glory like Tinubu and the SouthWest pursued their own glory that millions of Igbos plus the Northern Mafia could not stop. Even Jonathan and the non-Igbo SouthSouth have since moved on and are happy and at peace, but Igbos have embraced the grief and agony as though it is their DNA. It is quite obvious that you want more of this grief and agony. |
Who did not know that Tinubu was destined for great political leadership? Even those against him today, knew that he was destined for great accomplishments.
|
OP does not even know that these are the SouthAfricans whose Dutch and French Huguenot ancestors formed the country, before the British then came later to forcefully colonize both the Blacks and the Dutch/French Whites, and then brought along Indians to come work for the British colonial service. You never hear of Apartheid? Simply put, na dem get the country. They were the ones who kept the Blacks in the Soweto township ghetto, while they were living a luxury life in Sun City and the likes. They are as original a SouthAfrican, just as the English and French are Canadians, or just as the English, French, Dutch, Irish, and Scots are Americans, or just as the Portuguese are Brazilians. They discovered where "primitive" people were existing and chased them deep into the jungle, while they built up a country of their own in the good terrain and still included the jungle and the jungle people, then started to kill the jungle people to take more land and built the countries you all know today that the jungle people could never have built. USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, South Africa. Same origin of nationhood. |
This guy thinks he can hide under his father's image and be saying any rubbish he likes? He will be arrested and chained to the floor of the DSS cell and his father will beg and beg, yet he will continue to share the same cell with Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu will teach him Igbo and he will teach Kanu Fulani. Maybe that will help rehabilitate Kanu a little, since he is now claiming to be a peaceful person, only his tribalism is still pending cure. |
Ikaeniyan0:Let us hope so. Only a mad man would see progress and choose otherwise. I am certain that even the worst tribalist, would still be able to acknowledge effort and results they benefit from. No be statistics we go chop, like Tinubu said. Let us feel the impact. |
lyndire:I think so too. The military has demonstrated maturity and professionalism in handling the political crises caused by the resignation of the run-away Prime Minister. The only difference with the Nigerian situation is that we have not had a sit tight leader that needs to be booted out of power by the people, unlike the one ruling in Bangladesh for 15years. People get to vote every 4years, with a presidential term limit of 2 terms. Those who have lost election should learn to wait for another 4years. |
LegendHero:If President Tinubu cannot add 1000MW for every year in office, then it would be a very big failure on his part. |
kettykin:It is a very shameful matter. Like we are just refusing to solve this electric power issue, just like our national refineries. |
