An Ibadan-based herbalist, Mutiu Rafiu, yesterday narrated to the Oyo State Police Command how he lied to his wife, Medinat, that the twins of an Islamic cleric in Ibadan, Alhaji Taofeek Azeez, popularly called Akeugbagold, whom he and six other suspects had kidnapped and he had brought home, were children of his friends. Rafiu said he told Medinat that the friend and his wife recently separated and were yet to decide who between them would take custody of the children. The suspect, who confessed during a press conference in Ibadan, yesterday to conspiring with some other persons to kidnap the twins, pleaded that his wife be exonerated from the crime, saying she was innocent. Akeugbagold, who is the immediate past Chairman of the Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board (Muslim Wing), had announced the abduction of his twins, a boy and a girl aged 28 months, via his facebook page on Sunday April 26, 2020. A video of the twins’ mother crying that she suffered delayed childbirth for 12 years before she got pregnant with the twins and begging the kidnappers to release them, had also gone viral. Also paraded as one of the suspected kidnappers was Opeyemi Oyeleye, who had been a personal aide to the father of the kidnapped twins. Opeleye, who the police described as the mastermind of the crime, said he was not part of the abduction process at the initial stage but could not avert it when his fellow suspects later told him about it. He further said he thought he could mediate between the kidnappers and the parents of the twins but couldn’t do so before the police arrested him as part of the syndicate. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Shina Olukolu, who paraded the suspects at the Command’s headquarters in Ibadan, said the police arrested the suspects with substantial parts of the ransom collected from the twins’ parents, and recovered the gun allegedly used for the operation, two operational vehicles and one motorcycle from them. Olukolu tagged the arrest of the suspected seven armed robbers cum kidnappers as a syndicate that had been terrorising members of the public in the Ibadan metropolis and other parts of Oyo State. He said the suspects attacked Mrs Akeugbagold before abducting the twins. “The criminal assailants demanded for a ransom of N50 million before the two abducted babies would be released. “As soon as the incident was reported at the Ojoo police station and was later transferred to the AKS Eleyele/SARS office Dugbe, Ibadan, a team of AKS/SARS operatives swung into action and concerted efforts were intensified to rescue the abducted babies and arrest the perpetrators of the heinous crime. “The twins were released unhurt eight days later after their father had parted with an alleged sum of N4m as ransom to the hoodlums. “Consequent upon this, the investigating team embarked on painstaking investigation and traversed several states, including Adamawa and Sokoto, and in the process arrested Rilwan Taiwo, Rafiu Mutiu, Olumide Ajala, Fatai Akanji, Bashiru Mohammed, Opeyemi Oyeleye and Rafiu Modinat, the only female member of the gang detailed to take care of the babies in captivity, in connection with the crime. “Exhibits found on them are one locally made single barrel gun, eight cartridges, two Micra cars, an unregistered TVS motorcycle and a cash sum of N2,863,000,” the police Commissioner said See more here-- https://www.talkpalsforum.com/index.php?topic=28.msg59#msg59 |
Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has reacted to the cancelled presidential broadcast on COVID-19, earlier scheduled for today, Monday May 18. The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 had on Sunday said Buhari would on Monday (today) address the nation on the next steps to take in the fight against Coronavirus. But in a statement obtained by Igbere TV Monday afternoon, presidential spokesman, Mr. Femi Adesina, said there was no planned broadcast for today. Adesina, however, said the PTF would, during its usual press briefings later in the day, update the nation on the next steps, as the president had already been briefed. Reacting, the IPOB leader said “the Zoo Nigeria has fallen”, as according to him, “Buhari is dead”, “Jubril gone”, with the Aso Villa empty and vice-president Yemi Osinbajo allegedly missing. He said Michael Jiang, Managing Director of CCECC, a Chinese company in Nigeria, was smart to have heeded his warning not to broadcast a “concocted” tape of a “dead Buhari.” “Micheal Jiang is a very smart man for heeding my warning this morning not to disgrace himself and China by broadcasting any concocted audio/video tape of a dead Buhari. Anything he does I will expose to the whole world and the Zoo will be ridiculed.” Kanu maintained that Biafra freedom is month’s away from being actualized, and not years. “We miscreants have collapsed the zoo,” the IPOB leader added. “If they change their mind and decide to air their sham tonight, we IPOB shall be waiting to eat them alive,” he said, adding, “Aisha Buhari’s boyfriend is shy.” More-- https://www.talkpalsforum.com/index.php?topic=27.0 |

President Muhammadu Buhari has given the anti-corruption agencies the order to immediately commence full investigation into the activities of three of the ministers serving under him after receiving petitions from civil society and members of the public. According to an impeccable source who is privy to the matter, the letter to this effect was issued penultimate week ago. The agency concerned has swung into action and has commenced the of the ministers. Barring any last-minute changes in the investigation, the affected persons are to be invited this week for interrogation, according to the impeccable source. The agencies involved- the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, confirmed toThe Street Journal that they have received directives from the president to conduct a thorough investigation on the activities of the ministers. However, they added that it’s not a new thing. “It’s not a new thing for us to be directed by Mr President to investigate petitions from members of the public. Investigation does not mean they are guilty. You are aware of the Position of Mr President on the ongoing war against corruption. There is no sacred cow in the record of President Buhari on the fight against corruption and that is the Position of our chairman,” the source said. When The Street Journal pressed our source further, he said, “we have gone far and you will hear from us soon, that’s the only thing that I can tell you for now” Meanwhile, the Federal Government has submitted the list of food vendors engaged in the school feeding programme to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) and the State Security Service, self-styled as the Department of State Services, DSS. The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar-Farouk, said the government is spending N4,200 per household as a monthly COVID-19 intervention for 3,131,971 households, totaling N13,154,278,200. The People Democratic Party, PDP has described “the use of innocent school children as cover to steal and funnel not less than N679 million daily to private purses as sacrilegious, wicked and completely unpardonable”, “it is now clear that the APC-led administration’s school feeding programme has always been a scam, the claims to feed school children even when schools are closed are colossal racketeering taken too far.” However, the Spokesperson of the ruling Party, All Progressives Congress, APC in his response, accused the opposition party of suffering from post-colossal defeat trauma handed to them by the APC. “They always feel that the way they squandered Nigeria’s resources during the sixteen years they ruled Nigeria will still be the order of the day. “They missed it big time. President Muhammadu Buhari has been in public service for almost 37 years without being accused of stealing one kobo from the public office, a record that makes him unique in this country and Africa in general,” he said More https://www.talkpalsforum.com/index.php?topic=26 |
Dr. Doyin Okupe, one time spokesman for former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has revealed the medications he took to survival his bouts of coronavirus. He, a medical doctor himself however, warned against self medication, especially since there could be many with underlying conditions that may trigger complications. For emphasis, he put it in capital letters thus: “I MUST WARN HERE THAT IF YOU HAVE CARDIAC ARRHYTHMIAS , YOU WILL NEED TO CONSULT YOUR PHYSICIAN BEFORE YOU TAKE HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE. I DID.” Below is his submission: “Hydroxychloroquine, 400mg daily for 2days. Thereafter 400mg daily for three days. Azithromycin 500mg daily for 10 days. Zinc sulphate 100mg daily till today Vitamin C 1200 mg daily till now. I had malaria while on admission. I was effectively treated with an anti malaria. I also developed cough after about a week and was effectively treated by fairly large dose of Augmentine for 7 days. I must say that there is no universal medical consensus on a specific treatment regime for covid19. Also most of the drugs being used in different centres worldwide are not backed by any detailed or extensive research work anywhere in the world. Most scientific works and studies currently going on have limited scientific acceptability either because the samples used are too scanty, sometimes as low as 40 to 60, or because controls do not exists. It will take another 4 to 6 months before results of credible works are available. However the humongous nature of the global emergency make it impossible for countries not to explore experimental drugs that show any possibility or potential to contain the virus. In my own case I commenced treatment with the hydroxychloroquine regime four days to my isolation. This was because I read extensively on various options of treatment for covid 19 and I followed the global debate on the pros and cons of the treatment. With my medical background and consultations locally with colleagues I already made up my mind that the chloroquine regime was so far the most promising. I ordered for the drugs just in case someone close or even I should unfortunately pick up the virus. I MUST WARN HERE THAT IF YOU HAVE CARDIAC ARRHYTHMIAS , YOU WILL NEED TO CONSULT YOUR PHYSICIAN BEFORE YOU TAKE HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE. I DID. So I was advised to use 200mg twice daily instead of 400mg twice daily for two days. Before the arrival of the results of the swab tests, I put my wife and I on the treatment. My low grade fever disappeared completely and my wife’s bone pains too. Personally I believe the chloroquine combination which is the official treatment regime in Ogun state actually works. Lagos uses anti viral drugs and they also get good results. However the scientific truth we know about treatment for viral infection is that ultimately what eventually works is the innate capability of the immune system of individual patients. It is the immunity level that eventually decides the course of the infection in each individual. That is why age and coexisting comobidity factors, like obesity, hypertension and diabetes or renal diseases are crucial to survival and wellbeing of infected patients. This is what gives younger people better prospects with the virus. Hence for those who are not sick, you should ingest immune boosting drugs and preparations . Like zinc SULPHATE, immunace, RELOAD and similar immunity enhancing drugs. I also took copious amount of ginger, garlic, tumeric and lemon. In kaduna I am told that they add dongoyaro leaves to the above mixture and drink liberally. As a tip also, it is known that when the virus first gains access to the body it stays in the nasal cavity and the throat for two to three days. In this position the virus itself is vulnerable. It does naturally in temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius. If at this stage you can consume large quantities of hot water with lemon frequently, you can abort the attack. The good news is that 90 to 95% of infected people will recover and some even without hospitalization. My Advice. Pursue personal safety at whatever cost. Stay at home. Dont visit and dont recieve visitors. Family or friends. Check drivers maids and aides. Since it may be difficult to gauge their compliance, either reduce to the barest minimum or do without. Those that must stay must be made to be resident and movements restricted. Maintain physical distancing if you must go out. Comply with the hygiene protocols as recommended by NCDC. All these inconveniences will probably be over by July or latest August 2023. So we can all endure. In the meantime, fortify yourself daily with immune boosters. At the slightest sign of trouble, fever, catarrh and or cough get help instantly . More https://www.talkpalsforum.com/index.php?topic=11.0

Why I cried when I graduated with First Class Degree — Oshunniyi, UNILAG graduate In an interview with Punch Correspondent, UNILAG first class graduate has explained why she cried when she graduated with first-class. Are you striving to be the best in whatever you do? Then the interview with Sarah Oshunniyi a UNILAG first class graduate will probably motivate and inspire you. Little intro: Sarah Oshunniyi is a First class graduate from the Department of Philosophy, University of Lagos (UNILAG). Her dream was to graduate with first class and yes she did. She graduated with 4.53CGPA. She is a 20-year-old pretty girl. Below is her interview with TUNDE AJAJA; To have graduated from university at 20 means you gained admission at a relatively young age, what fond memories of your early years do you still have? My childhood was a lot of fun; my family travelled a lot so I got to go on adventures and visit new places with my family. One of my fondest memories was actually a trip to Disney World at a time when I was finally big enough to go on the rides in Magic kingdom. I had so much fun. Would you say you are in your dream profession? Growing up, I wanted to be both a doctor – like my aunt and uncle – and a lawyer, like my dad. I chose law and there is a story behind it, which I would share with you. I talked a lot as a child and was always ready to defend others (laughs). I thought (and still think) lawyers are superheroes, always jumping in and saving the day when someone is in trouble. I wanted to help people, I wanted to understand the laws of the land and use them to ensure people get justice. And I saw myself as a judge one day. However, I failed my diploma examination into the Department of Law. Why did you opt for a diploma? I passed the West African Senior School Certificate Examination once and passed the post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination but I was too young to enter the university, so I put in for the diploma programme. You once said you had the worst result you could imagine, how? The required result to enter for law was AAA or AAB. Yours truly got BBD (laughs). I believe I was too complacent in my approach to academic work at that time. I was overconfident but unwilling to put in the needed work. The way it worked was that the system would automatically place you in another department. So, I was offered philosophy. Were you okay with it or did you try to retake the examination? My dad wanted me to retake the examination, but for some weird reasons, I refused. I started questioning myself, wondering if law was what I really wanted to do and if I was ready to give the number of years I would need to become a lawyer. So, I decided to try this new course and see where it would take me, after all, I knew I could always go back to study law with philosophy as my first degree. There is an age-long perception among students that philosophers believe there is no God and that seems to dissuade some of them from choosing the course, what’s your thought on this? There are a lot of misconceptions about philosophy, especially in Nigerian society, primarily because philosophy equips you with critical and logical skills. It makes you question things and shakes the foundation of what you think you know, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Your beliefs and opinions could change after it or become much stronger. What part of the course did you find most interesting? There were a lot of courses that were interesting, but I particularly loved the philosophy of Karl Marx. As a philosopher, what amazes you most about life? Life is constantly changing, nothing stays the same. What we think we know today could change tomorrow. Our scientific positions, political stance, or the best ways of doing things could all become ancient, irrelevant, and insignificant. The status quo is constantly being challenged. When you were a child, were there times your parents coerced you into reading? My parents have always driven us to do our best and be our best in anything we find ourselves doing. It is from that background that I keep pushing myself forward. I have always loved to see the pride on their faces when I do well. You once said you almost gave up on graduating with a first-class degree, what happened? I was frustrated. I had decided to do my best in philosophy because I didn’t want to fail again. So, after putting in more work than I ever did, I expected to see the reward, but I didn’t. Instead, it was shoved in my face that my best wasn’t good enough. I felt the system was against me, yet I just could not fail again. After the frustration, what was the turning point? Before my final year, I was given the opportunity to work as an intern at Emerging Africa Capital Group, under the direct supervision of Mrs Toyin F. Sanni, a leading industry player. It was that internship that showed me that hard and smart work would eventually give results. It may not seem like you’re progressing but you are. This gave me hope; I also had overwhelming support from my family members, who continued to call me a first-class graduate even when I was getting strong second-class upper grade results. Specifically, from what you learnt during your internship, what did you start doing differently? Smart work is hard work plus a little creativity. I had to stop copying other people’s methods; I found my own approach to succeeding in school. I had to do things my own way. Could you capture your reaction the day you checked your result and realised you would eventually graduate with a first-class degree? I was in my room when I got the call from a friend that most of the results were out and I had A’s in all of them. I didn’t believe the person. I mean; I couldn’t have possibly got so many A’s from a department that would hardly give A’s in final year. This was my final semester! It’s simply not possible. Those were my thoughts. Then, I checked it myself and there it was; seven A’s, including in my project, and one B. I didn’t even know when I went on my knees and started crying. I must note that it was really hard for me. The reward for the hard and smart work I put in was delayed but it eventually came. I couldn’t go out all the time, I couldn’t skip classes unless I was really tired and I had reading goals I set for myself every day. I also had to distance myself from some of my close friends, whose values didn’t align with mine. But overall, I owe it all to God, because He gave me the drive for success; He gave me the people that helped me along the way, and He gave me the spirit of excellence and a family full of support. On average, what was your study schedule like? I made sure I slept well at night. I never did overnight reading as we called it because I maximised the daytime. In my early years, I spent quality time in the library and anytime I didn’t have lectures, I would be there from 8am to 4pm. It became my sanctuary, but in my final year, I spent more time in my room reading and working on my project. How would you have felt if you had not graduated with a first-class degree? I ask myself this often; I think I would have felt very bad, considering that I was 0.4 points away from having a first-class degree before I eventually made it. Meanwhile, my parents, friends, extended family members and my Emerging Africa Capital Group family were a great inspiration. Were you involved in other school activities or was it all about your academic work? I wasn’t so much into other activities but I really admired people who got involved in school politics and other things. I would say I was fairly social; I believe there should be a balance in everything we do. What was your typical day like at the time? Wake up and get ready for class, then go to the library in-between classes and read up what was taught in class earlier. After class, I’d go straight to my room, eat and read everything I jotted down in class. Then watch a movie and sleep. At my leisure, I loved reading, seeing movies and visiting new restaurants. What would you consider as the most extreme thing you did for education? Changing my circle of friends would be the most extreme. It wasn’t easy, because these were people I had known for years. But I had to do it for my progress and sanity. What were your most memorable moments in school? My saddest moments in school were the times I checked my results in my early years, because my hopes would be really high and then they would be dashed. My happiest moments were my final weeks in school. Some people believe that being in a relationship as an undergraduate is a distraction, what was your experience? I believe people should achieve a balance in everything; school life, work life and personal life. But I was also strongly dedicated to education. I was in school for one purpose, which was to succeed. That was my top priority and I couldn’t afford any distraction. What are your aspirations? As opposed to the abstract nature of the course I studied; I am very interested in the world of finance. More specifically, I’m interested in investment banking. That’s the industry where I will like to work. Is there anything you would have loved to do as a student that you could not? I would have loved the opportunity to travel more. Due to the structure of the school calendar, travelling during summer wasn’t possible and I wasn’t going to skip classes nor miss tests just because I wanted to see the world. There’s time for everything. What advice do you have for students, both the incoming ones and those already in school, on how to have excellent results? Don’t let the system discourage you. Don’t just work hard, work smart. Find your most suitable approach to studying, never be afraid to ask for help and help others too. From my own experience, I found that no one likes to see that their best efforts weren’t good enough, but what you do after that is very important. Do you give up or do you put in the needed extra effort? I decided to look for more techniques and smarter ways to get ahead of the system. I changed my writing styles during assignments and examinations; I read widely, more than what I needed for my examinations just to have broad knowledge; I was never afraid to ask for help and if I didn’t understand something in class, I’d ask a friend to explain. I could say I got more critical and creative in my approach. Students can learn a thing or two from these. https://free./620772964723243?view=permalink&id=1885376791596181&refid=28&ref=opera_speed_dial_freefb&_ft_=qid.6826590141827894321%3Amf_story_key.7780461252437656029%3Agroup_id.620772964723243%3Atop_level_post_id.1885376791596181%3Acontent_owner_id_new.100008429191758%3Asrc.22%3Astory_location.5%3Aview_time.1589439351%3Afilter.h_nor&__tn__=%2As-R |
The newly appointed Chief of Staff to the President (CoS), Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, yesterday declared he was picked for the job because President Muhammadu Buhari needs his competence and loyalty to succeed. Asked what Nigerians should expect from him as Chief of Staff, Gambari told reporters at the Presidential Villa in Abuja: “We have not started. I’ll have to find out. I don’t report directly to the nation, I report to the president.” He said he would be offering his “loyalty, competence and support” to the president, adding that as the chief of staff, his guiding principle would be “to serve the president to the best of my ability.” Buhari formerly announced Gambari as the chief of staff shortly before the commencement of the resumed Federal Executive Council (FEC). During the session, a moment of silence was observed in honour of some deceased members of FEC at various times including a former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, the late Chief Richard Akinjide and the late Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari. Gambari, Nigeria’s former permanent representative to the United Nations (UN) arrived at the Villa at 10:40 a.m. and was received by senior presidency officials including the director of protocol, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed and the permanent secretary, State House, Mallam Tijani Umar. Also present were the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs (Office of the Vice President) Amb. Abdullahi Gwari and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Mallam Garba Shehu. Reactions, meanwhile, have been trailing the appointment of Gambari, with the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu saying: “At this time when the entire world is combating the coronavirus pandemic and the economic consequences thereof, Prof. Gambari’s expertise and international reputation will help Nigeria galvanise national, regional and international efforts and resources to contain this viral menace and advance Nigeria’s interests on other important matters.” The All Progressives Congress (APC) in a statement affirmed: “Indeed, Prof. Gambari ticks all the boxes as a round peg in a round hole. The APC is confident that Gambari, a prince of Ilorin Emirate, will bring to bear his scholarly intellect, international network, professional and administrative experience in ensuring the smooth running of the office of the president and support the government to provide good governance and successfully deliver the Next Level programmes for the benefit of Nigerians.” Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said he had no doubt that the “appointment is a major win for the presidency and the nation as a whole, especially coming at a time when Nigeria is confronting a major challenge with global outlook.” He added: “The choice of Prof. Gambari as successor to the late Mallam Abba Kyari is commendable. Gambari is not just an academic or a diplomat; he is a fine gentleman, a decent Nigerian who epitomises the Nigerian dream.” On his part, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq said: “The appointment is clearly fit for purpose and is deserving for our own Prof. Gambari whose record of service as a diplomat and global statesman is unblemished.” AbdulRazaq, who is the governor of Gambari’s home state, prayed to God to protect the CoS on the “delicate national assignment.” Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello noted: “Just as the late Chief of Staff Abba Kyari played a prominent role in the success of the Buhari administration, your coming in to fill the vacuum will further add more colour to the administration’s achievements.” Bello’s Yobe State counterpart, Mai Mala Buni said he was optimistic that Gambari would deploy his wealth of experience to bring good governance to bear on the Buhari administration. According to a former national secretary of the Labour Party and constitutional lawyer, Dr Kayode Ajulo, “Prof. Gambari is a core technocrat with robust wealth of experience. We expect nothing else than those lofty ideas on good governance as being promoted by the UN and the Prof. Gambari-Albright Commission.” He further prayed that the “appointment comes with the much-needed additional expertise and sanity in the country’s seat of power.” The Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE) also praised the choice of the new CoS, saying: “YCE is convinced that the appointment of Prof. Gambari is indicative of President Buhari’s determination to run a people-centered progressive administration that will command the respect of the international community.” The Joint Action Committee of Northern Youths Association (JACOM) noted: “We have no doubt in our minds that his huge experience as a seasoned diplomat, his wisdom and guidance, will help the administration strive to much greater heights in delivering the dividends of democracy to ordinary Nigerians, especially the teeming youth of this great country.” But the opposition group, the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), said it was welcoming the appointment with caution. “We shall watch him closely as he resumes duty at the Presidential Villa. We shall hold him responsible for all his actions and judge him by them,” the coalition said. Explaining its cautious stance, CUPP said it “is not unaware of the fact that Prof. Gambari is a die-hard agent of the late military dictator, Sani Abacha, and did everything on earth to defend the numerous atrocities of the Abacha regime while serving as General Abacha’s UN representative, including supporting the evil execution of the late activist, Ken Saro Wiwa, and the annulment of June 12 election.” It added: “In the meantime, the CUPP is calling on Prof. Gambari to use the experience he has garnered on the global stage for years to assist the country and to pull out his boss, the president, from the deep pit of incompetence where he has sunk. “We remind him that with his new appointment, he has been placed in a strategic position to help re-direct the nation from the path of destruction which his boss has been moving it to.” Also, a former deputy national publicity secretary of the APC, Timi Frank, urged Gambari not to toe what he termed “the usual path of Villa cabal.” “I urge you on behalf of Nigerians to bring your wealth of experience and fatherly disposition to unite the country as you carry on your duties as the chief of staff to the president. “It is a fact that you are not the president but I believe you can influence people-oriented policies in order to ameliorate the hardship in the country. Be the people’s chief of staff More here https://www.talkpalsforum.com/index.php?topic=92.0 |

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has asked herdsmen who sneaked into Bomadi Council Area, Delta State, to leave the area in peace, saying riverine communities did not want their trouble. Chairman of CAN, Bomadi chapter, Snr Apostle Sunday Ekeremor, stated this when CAN Local Monitoring Team on compliance of partial lifting of church services ran on them in the course of duty, yesterday. He said, “we are saying in strong terms that they should leave this place in peace because we have heard them causing problems in Uwheru Kingdom, Abraka, Delta North and other places. "We never knew they are in this bush; we do not want them here because our women and children go to their farms and fishing camps both night and day. “I called on the Bomadi CDC leadership to ask them to leave in peace because we don’t want the atrocities we have been hearing about them to come to this place.” https://www.talkpalsforum.com/index.php?topic=83.0

United States President, Donald Trump has declared that he was not happy with China. He made the declaration amid new allegations against the world’s most populous country. On Monday, journalists at a press conference held at the Rose Garden asked Trump to react to The New York Times’ claim. The newspaper reported that the White House would soon accuse Beijing of trying to steal research on vaccines for the new coronavirus via hackers. Trump declined to confirm or dismiss the news. His response was: “I am not happy with China. What else is new with China?” The American leader added that he was “not interested” in reopening talks on a trade deal with China. Trump announced that he would study how the first phase is being implemented by Beijing. “Let’s see if they live up to the deal that they signed, okay?” he said. The U.S. and China signed a massive deal in January. From indications, coronavirus isn’t stopping the two countries from implementing the deal. In April, China ordered more than 30 million tonnes of crops from America. This purchase is to protect itself from supply chain disruptions caused by the pandemic. China will add nearly 10 million tonnes of soybeans, 20 million tonnes of corn, and 1 million tonnes of cotton to reserves. “We made a great trade deal where they buy $250 billion. And they’re paying tariffs. They paid us tens of billions of dollars,” Trump recently stated More here. https://www.talkpalsforum.com/index.php?topic=82.msg119#msg119 Join this forum |
