An old friend from secondary school days called last night to check on me after very long time. He is neither PDP nor APC. Just a Nigerian who wants good life, but somehow he doesn’t like PMB.

While our convo was going on, one way or other, politics sha came in. I was trying to make him see reasons why PMB deserves a second term for consolidation, he quickly cut in.

Osquare, forget that thing. Nothing has changed since this your Buhari came to power. He continued. In fact, things are going from bad to worse. Nothing is changing for good. Bla bla bla.

He is very argumentative person and so am i. In order not to make him regret why he called to check on me, I didn’t allow the conversations to degenerate into big argument. So, I quietly agreed with him that he is right, nothing has changed. We left that topic.

We continued our conversation, talking about classmates, parties, picnics, concerts, miming competitions, press & social clubs etc. All those social stuffs we enjoyed in the 90s during secondary school days.

Suddenly, I remembered that the last time we spoke about 3yrs ago, he told me how bad security situation in Nigeria was because of boko haram attack in Abuja. He divulged how himself & other church members had to get scanned with bomb detector before they were allowed into church for sunday service. He confirmed it was that bad.

So I used style to ask him; Bros, in your church, are they still scanning church members before they go inside the church every sunday?? I’m sure he already forgot he told me earlier “Nothing has Changed” in Nigeria since Buhari came to power.

He laughingly responded: ah Nooooo that was then ooh. Things have changed now. Security has improved in Abuja so there is no need for that anymore. People no longer fear boko haram attack like before.

With a slight tone, I said; ah we thank God for PMB oh, at least one thing has changed under him. He bursted into laughter . “Osquare you’re a bad guy”. He muttered........

You see, there are many Nigerians like my friend living here in Nigeria. The change they enjoy means nothing to them until you slap it on their faces.

Bombings were being carried our at will right in our nations capital Abuja by boko haram extremists.

For those who have forgotten here are a few.

1) October 2010 Abuja bombings. The October 2010 Abuja car bombings, also referred to as the 2010 Nigeria Independence Day attacks that killed 12.

2) The 2011 Abuja car bomb explosion on Friday, at the UN building that killed at least 21 people.

3) Nyanya bombing s that killed at least 88 people and injured over 200.

These pictures below shows where we are coming from. Christians & Muslims got scanned before they were allowed into their places of worship. HandBags & headscarfs got checked with bomb detector. We were all criminals and suspected boko haram members and were all treated as one until cleared by the scan.

We will never go back there. 2023 is where we are heading but NEVER under PDP ever again.
