Becareful people, agents are here to deceive people. At least Sanwo olu was there in the hospital to see the victims. And we can see the rage both the protesters and hoodlums took on the cuty. The question is does that look like people weren't killed and injured. My own prayer is, the blood of the innocent must speak and would never end. Judgement awaits us all. Nigeria would never stand if this continues. #restructing is the answer. #Endsars.

This is what happens when you open schools prematurely.

The second wave of the outbreak started when school children returned to school, contracted the virus and went back home to spread it.
What is this one talking about. At least a move was taken. Did we ever do a lockdown in Nigeria? If not God that intervened. We don't even test? Even when we do it would take more than how many days for the result to come out. These people moved on! Let's not forget that's the step to actually move on when resolving a pandemic. As the cases re-emerge, you shut down EFFECTIVELY for a little time period. Then open quickly and gradually.

Till today it is so shocking how our so-called men of God and "Papa", "Daddy" have degenerated into blockade to good information and National progress. How can a person of his status make such naive statement. I don't want to believe he was serious about it.

I am seeing some comment talking about how COVID-19 is false and not real. If by chance you come across someone who has lost a loved one to COVID-19, I hope you will make such heartless statement in front of them. NDDC and the masses are clueless as to the rate of spread and infections we currently have today but from observation African continent seem to have low death rate and alot of people seem to be asymptomatic and just suffer light fever, cough and headache. Suggestion could be that it could be
1. Young population in Africa
2. Natural immunization e.g Malaria and some illness could have created the immunity.
Till Today, there is no explanation why Africa has different reaction to COVID-19 but it doesn't justify the statament "COVID-19 is not real". Perhaps if Africa has heavy medical research facility, we could have conducted our own research and find out things for our self and who knows we could discover something amazing which others wouldn't but sadly we don't.

First of all I can’t believe some of the comments am reading up there. Some of you don’t even read up or follow stories as regards this pandemic, many still believe this virus is a hoax. If you are going to risk your life, all fine and good but don’t risk that of your kids, even if you don’t care about your life, what about the elderly people around you.
Who told you that it's only on schools, the Virus would spread, nobody is saying is a hoax or anything, but the disease has come to stay a while, and not going anytime soon, should the schools be the closed for ever? The nation's that are still saying no school for now, their kids are doing online classes, which 90% of Nigerian students aren't doing. Do you know the devastating effects of locking down education for a year or more. I'm not saying resume so we all go due there. But put things in place to ensure safe reopening and do a staggered opening, so as to control population, since our schools are overcrowded.

When you think you know too much, you later realize you know nothing.
Donald Trump announced the reopening of schools in America, yet parents refused to send their children to school.
I watched the governor of New York live on Fox news, he said New York will not reopen schools not until the virus is under control.
These are still arrogant steps to tell you that so many scholars don't believe in the pandemic.
The truth is that if we get to a worst hit state, we don't even have the facilities to fight the virus.
Apart from Lagos State, how many states in Nigeria have more than 3 isolation center?
In all of those isolation center's how many respirators do they have?
Don't joke with the life of our children.
So you think as they are at home the virus won't spead or their parents that are going out to to make money are not bringing the virus home or what are you trying to say in essence.

fratermathy:
There is no doubt that there are genuine reasons why schools should be closed in Nigeria. In fact, I agree with many of the arguments that people have made to defend this. However, there are many factors that must be considered before we conclude the matter. I'll just itemise them:

1. Covid-19 has no cure or vaccine and even if one comes up tomorrow, it'll realistically take more than 3 years to reach up to 30% of the Nigerian population. Corona is here to stay. There's no future utopia where the virus magically disappears. It won't go away next year so postponing resumption of schools means postponing the inevitable. In fact, by next year, for instance, the cases may be in the millions in Nigeria. Will schools be closed forever? Or you think our insensitive government will perform some magic?

2. Social distancing doesn't work in Nigeria. I don't know about your location but in mine, people go about their normal lives and there's nothing anyone can do about it. The children are still playing with their mates every day. Parents go to work and markets and may likely import the virus to their homes.

3. Children still go to churches or mosques (which are open in most places). Religious and social gatherings are known super spreaders of the virus.

4. So far, children are nowhere near vulnerable as far as Covid-19 is concerned. While this argument can be upended, it is a strong factor nonetheless. Children are not so much in danger as their teachers and the teachers are mature enough to protect themselves adequately.

5. Students in public schools in remote and riverine areas are struggling and therefore may face certain learning challenges if they stay out of school for too long. Many may lose interest in schools altogether. I have been to these places and I know how averse they are to education. Many simply go to school because their mates are going. Should they stay home for long periods, they may likely never resume whenever schools open (which, going by the logic of some concerns, can take more than 2 years).

6. Private school teachers have not been paid for months because, unlike the public sector, they have to work before they are paid. Furthermore, many of them have been organising lessons for miserly wages (this also contradicts why schools should be closed). Indeed, many of those who want schools to remain closed have means of educating their children effectively, forgetting the fisherman's child in Oporoza who either goes to school or hunts for bait worms.

7. Once again, corona is here to stay. There are many workarounds that can be easily adopted to curtail populated classrooms. We must either accept the reality of Covid-19 or simply all remain at home - no markets, malls, churches, mosques, work etc because no one is better or worse than schools as far as the virus is concerned. If you can afford homeschooling or online learning for your children, you should definitely go for it. However, what is good for Bernard is not necessarily good for Benetutukayo and it is nobody's fault that we have an irresponsible government that can't provide adequate infrastructure for times like this.

I am a realist in matters like this but there are factors that policy makers must consider even if schools must remain closed. Until the factors are appropriately pictured, we may be doing more harm due to our inability to see the wider picture. There are reasons why the lockdown didn't last in Nigeria. These are the same reasons why schools can't remain closed indefinitely.
The guy that composed this, you head get oil. You have said it all.

They just want school to open because of money.

They are putting themselves before the children.

They are risking getting the deadly virus because of ordinary 30k abi 50k.

May Corona locate all them bitches
Whoever wrote this, something has gone wrong with you. Do you think the children where they are haven't contacted the virus? They go to play, their parents return from work, do they practice social distancing in thier homes? You lock down schools, yet nothing is on ground to ensure life's return to normal. You lock down schools and abandone the teachers in private schools? Countries that have been hit hard with this disease, are opening. Can't we live and manage with it, since it's going to be with us for a while?

When no pastor was offering to heal covid 19 people, you unbelievers were running your mouth nonstop. Now someone is offering to do it, and you are still running your mouth.
Gifts of healing is a gift that not every believer has and it’s obvious this man has it working to some effect in his ministry.
What does it take to be positive about his words, rather than negative and abusing him. People with the virus are desperate and will rather prefer free prayer that can heal them than drugs with side effects and who knows what else.
Sometimes let’s do some deep thinking before we type.
Honestly, God bless who ever wrote this.. The thing tire me sef, we all know there are free thinkers everywhere, but you must not comment about every little thing said about religion on social media platforms.
