The thing is , they don't really value technical midfielders in England. No matter the talk, they will always want to rate Lampard or Gerrard .

The only people that rates Scholes are mainly Man utd fans(Out of loyalty) and outsiders/people outside England. Those people outside, especially countries that play good football not kick and rush are the ones that see and appreciatethe technicality of Paul scholes. The mumu English fans no Sabi football that much, they don't see you as a good midfielder if you don't play 1000 shots per game from 30 yards

The English National team Is so used to the kick and rush type of football, such that any normal footballer that plays proper football will look odd in it. Na Gerrard and Lampard fit their style, so I won't really talk about it much

All these are Shalayes. Scholes was the definition of bad for England. He was useless even before Gerrard and lampard became mainstay for England and shamelessly retired in 2004. Ferdinand and Terry only started 15games together for England and they never shipped in goals anyhow. They conceded only 2goals through out the 2006 world cup. All what I said is on point. Players retire from international football for a lot of reasons and most of the times, being bad is always not the issue but it is mostly personal. Vardy retired from England not because he was bad but for personal reasons, Someone like Ighalo retired for other reasons too which does not include been bad. I'm sure guys like you will come back and use it in future arguments just to make baseless point by linking their early international football retirements to being bad.

Scholes dictate the tempo of games, ....spraying long and short passes.... Opening defence with thru pass.....also skilful.

Gerrard and Lampard as a midfield duo, is rubbish...

Even in their clubs , the coaches knows better than putting them in Defensive midfield, cos they don't have the positional discipline of the likes of Carrick, Scholes , Mikel etc .

The thing is England FA never got it right in terms of recruiting the right coaches for the team during that golden era of players they had. They were consistently recruiting idiots that lacked ideas as the national team coaches. Gerrard and lampards penalty padded goal scoring stats in their clubs didn't help those coaches either. They were so fixated on having those two play together , forgetting that they are like for like sub for eachother, thereby the experiment was failing consistently. It was the same problem they had playing Terry and Ferdinand together in defence, when they are both the same styled players thereby shipping in goals anyhow.

Gerrard and Lampard are just a better version of Ross Barkely . they only know how to run and run with the ball in midfield and with little ingenuity. when everywhere is blocked, they can't improvise, they will just result in wayward shooting evrytime. that is why those two usually record a very high number of shots per game.
