izzou: I don't see how this question can have a specific answer
If the strikers score 10 goals, and the defenders and GK concede 10 goals, the match isn't won
Like I said, if we go buy your logic, a defender cannot be the man of the match or even win an award This will be my last reply to you on this debate. I don't think you understand me when I say you should look at the context of the discussion at hand. A defender winning Ballon D'or (individual award) has nothing to do with a team winning UCL (team trophy). Someone said that without VVD, Liverpool won't win UCL and I'm here trying to correct that comment, pointing out other aspects of Liverpool's game that gave them success e.g their full backs who supply large chunk of assists in the past 2 seasons, their attackers who have been prolific in front of goal, the way the team has blended having played together for like 4 seasons, the world class 'keeper they signed etc... It's not just VVD that changed Liverpool but a host of reasons so no one should peddle this lie of "if not VVD..." Whether he wins Ballon D'or or not is not my concern. The teams success is what I am talking about. Thank you. |

So if a team wins a trophy, a defender cannot be recognized because he didn't score goals that brought the victory?
Who win matches for teams? Defenders or strikers? |

I feel VVD is over hyped, but from your comment, no defender on earth should be considered for an award Context. Individual award is different from team trophy. I was talking about Liverpool's UCL win. |

A40: This hype dey turn my belle. No Mané or Salah who are winning league and CL Golden Boots but VVD alone whose Liverpool has not kept clean sheet this season What people don't understand is that CS cannot win you a match. As a defender, the highest VVD can do is marshal the defence to be watertight. But if you keep the whole CS in this world and your strikers don't score, you can't win the match. Even for the CS sef, we see influential signings made in that defense department. So why only VVD? |

I gave you the number of goals and total matches for each. I have done half of the job. You should ask your apari friend, raumdeuter, pushng you, to help you with minutes played.
Use your hand to sign your dismissal. Judge for yourself their goals per game ratio in debut season. Look at how wonderful Drogba's stat shit on Morata!

You wouldn't tell us in how many number of matches those goals were recorded by each striker. If not for digz, i would have ignored you. Actually minutes played will give us a better picture of their performance. I don't know how to pull out the combine number of minutes played for both of them but I know that in Drogba's 26 apps, he came on as a sub in 0 matches but in Morata's 31 apps, he came on as a sub in 7 matches. Mind you, I'm in no way comparing Morata to Drogba. That would be foolish of me. But I'm comparing their debut seasons for Chelsea because of your first comment shading Morata because of Tammy's stats. Drogba didn't perform better than Tammy, did he? Morata is not the only number 9 in Chelsea to underperform in his debut season. @ the bolded, why can't I mention both in the same sentence based on their debut season? League goals... Drogba 10 goals, Morata 11 goals. Why can't I mention them in the same sentence? Calling Morata the worst striker in Chelsea's history just shows how recently you started following Chelsea. Emaprince: Mehn...Abraham is a blunt striker abeg.
He has no imposing presence at all..hence, defenders tend to relax while facing Chelsea. I mean defenders in big teams though.
Against these top dogs, Abraham disappears completely. He does next to nothing in big games. He only shines against small teams with average defenders..yet his goals aren't always difficult or spectacular types.
Many of the unexpected goals by drogba and coastal can never be scored by tammy. That Kantes goal wouldn't have hit the back of the net if Abraham was the man on the ball. He would have easily been brushed aside.
This is a tall dude that poses no aerial threat. He wins no aerial duel. Very poor hold up play. You can't give him the ball outside the box and expect any magic from him.
Abeg make next week come so they can give us small team make the mugu shine. You are making a very big mistake by making this comparison. A big one. The Drogba you are talking of sef, how many goals did he score in his first season for Chelsea? 16 goals in 41 apps. Tammy is on 10 goals in 13 apps so far. Make una free this guy joor. |

nihilistjnr: The same people that backed Morata, are here again.
We say forget the goals, because we know he should be doing a lot better.
For me, Oshimen in this team would have scored more
Let's be honest with ourselves - Man City played only 1 centre back today.
Their back 4 consisted of an error prone centre back, a 34 year old midfielder, and an injury-pronr left back who has played just 30 games in almost 3 years
Man city had just 1 cleansheet I'm the last 6 games before today. This is the same team that Norwich beat while scoring 3 goals.
It's not like we were playing against Classic AC Milan, yet somehow Tammy was completely, utterly, and hopelessly lost against John Stones of all people How many goals did Aguero scored against Tomori of all people? And why should I "forget Tammy's goals"? Isn't it what he is there for, to score goals? Why should I forget it? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by timbros(m): 9:25pm On Nov 23, 2019 |
All these people criticizing Abraham sha...
What do you mean by "forget the goals"? Why are strikers in the pitch? To defend goals? So maybe we should start rating Abraham by clearance, interceptions etc?
If he is benefitting from the system he finds himself in, why the complain? Or make Lampard change system wey dey give Abraham, Pulisic, Kante goals?
If Lampard's system is giving formerly non scoring players goals, is it not for the good of the team? If Abraham no score now, na still we go talk pass.
Make una chill abeg. If the system suits Tammy, it's for the team's good. Who cares if his goals are solo, pile driver or bullet header? How many solo goals people like Van Nistlerooy or Inzaghi score for them careers? How many outside 18 shot?
You guys are forgetting that this guy is just 20 yrs (abi 21?). First season as the sole top 9 for a big club. He is still learning abeg.
Fact is that Abraham (and the whole team) is exceeding our expectations so far this season.
So make una calm down. |
