dopeJemi: I am not here to troll sir, unless you are telling me nihilist and airmark are trolling too
back to what we were saying
you don't buy a striker for 70m to just be a team player, juventus knew what they were getting with higuain, Chelsea knew what they wanted with lukaku, Barca knew what they wanted with Suarez same as PSG with Neymar
you can't overlook Costa's contribution just because mitchy scored the goal that won you the league, Morata wasn't bought to wait for others to score and then score some goals that will earn you important points, he was bought to score goals, whether important or not, just keep scoring For you to pick only the 2020 example in my post tells me you are here just to troll. Have Morata flopped yet? Have Neymar succeeded in PSG yet? Have Lukaku repeated his 25 goal haul in United yet? This is just a Community Shield match! Why all the attack? And talking about the price tag, 70m for a striker TODAY is ordinary. The market is highly inflated now so nobody should attach Morata's price tag as the reason why he should be scoring hat trick in every match. Defenders go for 50m+ now. Why not a striker? |

Nihilstjnr: If we ask you how Morata won the league for Madrid as a Benchwarmer, you will start floundering again....
The fact simply remains that Dragba had a far far better supporting cast around him to share the goal scoring burden. Who will share scoring burden here with Hazard out?
For the last 3 seasons, Costa has been our highest goal scorer, followed by Hazard. Costa is gone. Hazard is injured. We've now spent 70m on a Costa replacement, but you're saying that Morata does not even need to match his predecessor. Who do you think will make up the Shortfall of goals? Kante?
Is this logic that difficult to follow? Morata won 13 points for Madrid, only behind Ronaldo. Minus that 13 points from Madrid's 93 points and let's see how they will be Champions. If Drogba had a supporting cast, you should be worried why Morata doesn't have now. Let the whole team improve and support Morata instead of expecting 20+ goals from Morata. |

airmark: Nihilist had answered you, yet you won't reason stuffs out. The mou's squad then boast of great attackers who could score goals on their own. Goals win matches, we cant rely on hazard who we know is not high scoring attacker. That is a big gamble, that no sensible coach will rely on.
Morata's goals won real madrid titles, just as cahill's goals won us epl. Did ronaldo score the same number of goals hazard scored last season? Was morata the one responsible for ronaldo's 25 goals last term or high number of goals he had been scoring all these years? You are not making any point at all. Good. Now you're talking. So we should be discussing about how our entire strike force should improve their goal scoring output not just Morata. Hazard - Morata - Pedro can be a devastating attack line if they all improve in their goal stat. We have one of the best (if not the best) in the assist chart, Fabregas. If we can play that attack and somehow fit Fabregas in our midfield, I don't see why that trio won't give us 45 50 goals. Drogba didn't score much but he has players to share the goal scoring job with. The same way we should be looking at other players in the current squad to score more and not depend only on Morata's goals for trophies. |

dopeJemi: Mitchy's goal won Chelsea the league last season though, there would have been no league to win if Costa and Hazard didn't do their part, if your wing man Hazard can hit double digits, why shouldn't your 70m pound striker score 20+ goals

Nihilstjnr: I don't think you even know what your talking about. Drogba at Chelsea was playing with Balon Do'r and WPOTY podium finalist, UEFA midfielder of the year, African Footballer or the Year, UEFA defender of the year and so on...
He was not playing with Kante, Alonso or Victor Moses.
Drogba's team could afford to share the goal scoring burden...This team can't.
I don't understand how it's not immediately obvious.
I mean you're the same dude who was arguing that Costa's goals won something for us...but now Morata doesn't need to?
Be consistent mehn... The question is, did Drogba our target man score 20+ goals for us to win titles? Why must Airmark continue his 20+ goals line everytime? Yes Costa's goals won us titles, so does Morata's goals in Madrid. It must not be 20+ goals. Stop misunderstanding me bros. I said Costa's goals won us titles and I still stand by that. Morata's goals won Madrid a title last season too. So yes, goals win titles. BUT IT MUST NOT BE 20+ GOALS. Wetin hard to understand there? |

Griffon: Telegraph are running a report that the board has promised Conte three more signings.
Aurier, Van Dijk and Drinkwater are the players shortlisted already.
Now IMHO, the arrival of Dijk should see Azpi moved to the RWB on a permanent basis. We already have to many Centre-halfs and it's getting crowded over there.
With Azpi and Moses at the RWB, there won't be any need to bring in Aurier, who looks pretty much like Costa 0.2, rather his funds should get us another LWB, a competition for the feeble Alonso.
Drinkwater would count as homegrown talent and he knows the league well too. I won't mind having him, that our midfield needs anything that can trap the ball and tackle humans, just incase Kante shuts down.
One LWB, one CB and one CM, and we are good.
Your thoughts. I'll still take Aurier. He is an attacking RB that can play RWB very well. Azpilicueta is versatile. He can compete with Alonso in the LWB position. Assuming all those signings come in, I will play Aurier and Azpilicueta in the WB positions and slot Van Dijk in RCB. |

airmark: Zola said morata would not fit into our style, that we should buy a striker that will hit the ground running. Fast forward, before morata played his first game, conte was already saying kane was his ideal striker, that morata needed time to adapt. If you cant see sense in what zola said and the reality on ground now, it's not my problem.
That pep has always been struggling with his defensive setups, doesn't make him dumb in other aspect of coaching a team. So if zola failed as an all-round coach in average teams, that doesn't mean he won't have a good knowledge of the type of attackers that will gel in a big team. Di matteo won us ucl, but last year he was hired and fired by aston villa within 4 months. So if matteo airs his views now, you will ask him to shut it.
Meanwhile, Zola was a chelsea attacker and a great one at that. So from experience, what he had said for now, is spot on. We are not even sure if morata was conte's first choice. If he was and he is telling us he needs time to adapt, then i have overrated him as a coach. Then the board may be right dragging foot to rush and sign more spineless players suggested by him. Let's be more intelligent in our convo. Thank you. Di Matteo won us UCL. Zola haven't even managed us not to talk of delivering us any trophy. I know who I will listen to between Di Matteo and Zola. Evidence have proved repeatedly that Pep is overrated. It is interesting you never said anything about my Drogba example. |

Nihilstjnr: I hate Inconsistency There is no iota of inconsistency in my posts. If Morata score 20+ goals per season the better for all of us BUT 20+ goals shouldn't just be the criteria to judge him. Drogba's numbers have proved that we don't need a 20+ goal striker to lift trophies. Mind you, Morata's goals won Madrid their last trophy. It must not be 20+ goals. Aside Ronaldo, Morata won Madrid most points last season. |

Airmark abeg which Zola are you shouting up and down here? Is it the Zola I know? The Zola that literally resigned from Birmingham job after just 24 matches as coach? The Zola that inherited Birmingham in 7th position but left after just 2 wins in 24 matches and in 21st position? Is it the Zola that have coached 5 teams but couldn't stay beyond 2 years in a team?
Is this the Zola that we should listen to instead of Conte?
Bros it is one thing to be a legend as a player but yet an all together different thing to make it in the tactical world of coaches. Ask Maradona.
You keep shouting 20+ goals everywhere, mentioning Drogba along the line. Have you forgotten how Drogba's Chelsea career started? Chelsea won the league in his first season but how many league goals did he score? Just 10 goals! His second season, Chelsea retained the title. How many league goals did Drogba score? Just 12 goals! It was only in Drogba's third season did he hit the ground running, scoring 20 league goals (which by the way is one of only 2 times Drogba score 20 or more league goals in his Chelsea career.)
Drogba is our legend no doubt about that. But looking at the numbers, you will find out that criticising Morata at this point is just plain hating.
Free the guy. We didn't need Drogba's 20+ goals to win EPL titles because we play as a team. The same way, we don't need Morata to score 20+ goals to win EPL titles.
Drogba got his first 20 league goal in a season in his 3rd year is like Morata getting his in the year 2020. So calm down.
Thank you. |

Why shouldn't we compare them? Spot kick is spot kick. Was Courtious forced to play penalty? When he volunteered to play in first 5, he is very confident that he will score.
