So Chelsea was chasing the quadruple pre Bradford match, but now they are no longer chasing the treble? grin People can be so funny.

Btw that DVD is up for editing too.

Honours usually considered to contribute to a treble are the top-tier domestic league competition, primary domestic cup competition and most prestigious continental cup competition

Only jesters would say Liverpool won a treble in 2001

This is a 2010 article on previous treble winners no one remembered Liverpool

http://www.espnfc.com/story/788735/the-treble-club-previous-winners

Below is what UEFA call the treble. Only ignorant Chelsea fans would think Carling cup is a treble

What useless cup? Capital one cup? What a laugh!

For the record, winning cup and the Epl title and the Champions league trophy, gets you the treble. Capital one cup is a joke! grin
grin grin

Chai, na wa for people o.

Have you guys for a sec thought what that word treble means? You might want to check your dictionary for the meaning. Other words for treble are threefold, triple.

Please o, what can any three cups that a team wins be refered to as?

A certain Liverpool team led by Gerard Houllier won the treble in 2001. If una no tell me here the 3 cups dem win that year, make una no bother to quote me again. Case closed.

Barça have so far failed big tests this season? Apart from losing to Real Madrid way back in October, Barça has won all their big matches. PSG was dully dispatched in December and a first group spot grabbed. Atletico that spanked Real Madrid a hiding the other day, was expertly negotiated not once but thrice in as many days. This is the same Atletico that I'm sure you Chelsea fans all know too well. grin

Manchester City of course, would provide a sterner test but happily for us, they're not in a good run of form themselves. But we on the other hand, are the most inform team in Europe right now. An in-form Messi and Neymar and Suarez, easily eclipses whatever attack anyone can offer anywhere in Europe. A scintillating mixture of an amazing counter attacking football and an always stellar possession football makes them all the more dangerous. cheesy Chelsea can offer some stubborn defence but we all saw how it was brutally exposed by a rampart Spurs side. grin

We peaked too soon? What a misguided statement! Let me tell you that the sole objectives of fitness trainers in any club, is to plan that the players could peak in the business end of the season, which of course is from January to April. If you couldn't perform well during this period in the season, you cannot win any trophy. If you are a Real Madrid that played their best football when nothing was astake, then you peaked too soon. Barring any significant injury to key players, we're very much well poised to win an historic treble. grin Not even a Chelsea side that have blown hot and cold this season can lay claim to finishing with a treble, having been embarrassed out of the FA cup by some minnows.
Really? Chelsea can't win a treble this season? Wow! Tell me something I don't know.

IMO Psg losing Cabaye and Moura should be a piece of goodnews for us.

One provides them with viable options on the attacking third whilst the other is a threat in the middle of the park.

Marquinhos is another name. I've been watching this dude for a while and I must tell you this, the lad has taken his game to the next level.

If their manager decides to go extreme with tactics against us. We might just see Marquinhos pairing with Thiago Silva at the back whilst Luiz gets shunted to the midfield to provide the needed physicality and to carry out major dirty jobs which includes policing Cesc - our attacking hub.

I dunno but anytime cech is on da field we ar always in control of the game, dude didn't even make two saves against swansea nd newcastle combined, and today he made that crazy save with that little bit of luck cos he never knew where the ball was going. .... for a debut season, he is having a better one than de gea
Watch the replay again. He knew where the ball was going hence his outstretched leg. If you listened to his interview after the match, you will know he knew exactly what he was doing.

That save is a contender for save of the season...

De Gea made a similar point blank save against Burnley too.

Now take my advice and walk back home with three points. Break hazard's leg, he is due for injury break. Do so to fabregas and matic , then you can be sure of much goals and three full points in ur bag. City failed us, don't fail us also.
Bro that's so so unsportsmanlike for you to wish injury for your fellow man. Football apart, do you know the physical and psychological pains one goes through when injured? Read you comment again and think deeply on what you just wrote. Are you a sadist?

I remember our last game against Man Utd at Stamford Bridge in 05/06 season. Rooney got injured in that match. You need to see how everyone in stadium, both Chelsea and Man Utd fans, stood up clapping for him when he is stretchered off. That's sportsmanship.

I don't know which club you support but wishing a player injury is taking it to the extreme.

That would be my utmost wish to keep a clean sheet. But I'm being realistic here. The is Everton we are playing. If you have been following our encounters against Everton, you will see it's always a slim win for us. Sometimes draw. Also Lukaku will work extra hard to prove a point in Stamford Bridge so I'm expecting him to score....I'm just curious to see how he will celebrate if he scores.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Chelsea FC, The United Nations Of Football! by timbros(op): 11:40am On Feb 11, 2015
As a Chelsea trivia buff, one question which intrigued me as the Blues closed in on the signing of Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina during the January transfer window was about the number of different nationalities who have played for the club.

The number that I got from a reliable informant was 40. However, if Cuadrado makes his Chelsea debut at Villa Park this weekend, he would become the first Colombian to play for our first team, bringing that number up to 41.

From what I understand, the number reflects the countries that those Chelsea players have represented rather than the place where they were born. So Frank Sinclair, who was born and raised in London, is classified as Jamaican after playing for the Reggae Boyz at the 1998 World Cup, while Australia-born Tony Dorigo is considered English after pulling on the Three Lions shirt at the 1990 World Cup.

It doesn’t include players who have not made the first team like James and Phil Younghusband, who were turning out for Chelsea reserves while representing the Philippines at international level, or Bertrand Traore, currently on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, who recently played for Burkina Faso at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Indeed, Cuadrado is not even the first Colombian to have joined the Blues as Under-20 star Joao Rodriguez was signed by the club back in 2013 but has yet to play for Chelsea and is now on loan at Portuguese top flight side Vitoria.

Now you can break down that number whichever you see fit and come to your own conclusions but what I find pertinent is that in terms of playing personnel alone, Chelsea Football Club can be looked on as something akin to a United Nations of football.

In our current first team, we have players of 12 different nationalities (English, Czech, Serbian, Brazilian, Spanish, French, Dutch, Belgian, Ivorian, Nigerian, Danish and Colombian) who are under a Portuguese manager. However, if you go deeper, you’ll find even more evidence of the club’s international scope when it comes to players.

On loan right now, we have Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu, who scored two goals including a stunning curler in his country’s recent 3-0 quarter-final win over Guinea in the Africa Cup of Nations, Chilean winger Cristian Cuevas and Mexican midfielder Ulises Davila.

And in the Chelsea Academy, you will find exciting young prospects from Somalia (Mukhtar Ali), Poland (Hubert Adamczyk), Ecuador (Josimar Quintero) and Brunei (Faiq Bolkiah) playing for our under-18s and under-21s.

I don’t expect all of them to make it to the first team or to become club legends but it is heartening for me to know as an international supporter that talented players of many different nationalities are being given their opportunity by Chelsea Football Club.

The sustained success we have enjoyed at Stamford Bridge since our FA Cup triumph in 1997 means the Blues now have a huge international following. And given the large international make-up of our players, we can all be proud as Chelsea fans to say that we all support a truly global football institution.
