Last season when we drew 2-2 to relegation bound teams like Sheffield united and Burnley,I specifically said conceding multiple of one goal shouldn't be a problem to a team of Chelsea standard against such teams because we are expected to score more than they can score us,which made me to bring in some examples of teams who have had to come back from two goals down to win on multiple occasions after conceding unexpectedly. Man city vs. Aston villa on the last day of 3 seasons ago should come in mind.

If they can score 2,you can score 3 or 4 and ask our managers to build on such mindset instead of hoping we adopt Mourinho's 2004 game approach in big 2024. I was ridiculed,insulted, and asked if the game was basketball?

Surprisingly,the team did what was expected for any team to do when in such situations. Accepting that you have conceded but you can also score more, and we did just that in the most beautiful fashion and i am yet to see Port-Harcourt second born timbros and his people to ask why we should conceded a goal to fucking Tottenham like they always ask last season, when they always expect us to just go into a match hoping not to concede and score one goal as if mistakes doesn't happen in football that can make you concede even without anybody's fault. I guess the L hits very hard this time .


Anyways,to cut this long story short,i will advise all those one who are quick to insult and denigrate other people's opinions here like @Leyqute to ask questions rather than trying to be mad like he was trying to do yesterday.

In the Sheffield and Burnley matches you are refering to, can you please for a second focus on Chelsea's defence for a moment. I didn't say forget about the attack entirely. Just for a moment, forget the attack and focus on Chelsea's defence.... If you can do that, I'll be grateful...

Burnley has the worst attack in the division. They had a red card. Have you asked yourself how on earth Chelsea's defence concede 2 goals against such atrocious team? Not one fortunate goal o, but 2. Two! Infact once Chelsea score a goal, all the Burnley 10 men will CONFIDENTLY COME OUT and equalise. Not once, but twice!

And you want me to turn a blind eye on such defenders? No nah! Its very wrong. How can you allow the worst attack in the division down to ten men to attack you at will and score goals whenever they like?

Why must the defence swear that they will concede two or more goals per match no matter who the opponent was? Were you not here when they were on that run of surely surely conceding two goals or more per match?

Please show me a season Chelsea conceded 63 league goals after 38 matches. Sixty three! And you want me to be happy with such defence.

What is this about Chelsea not coming back from 2 goals down to win a match? This is how you have been shouting upandan about German coach and Ancelotti, abi how were you saying that again?

I never wanted Sancho NOT because I don't like him as a bad player, but because I see him as a luxury signing. Out squad was already bloated. We have got Neto. We are looking how to trim the squad down so I don't see a need for Sancho.

But as a Chelsea fan, anybody that dons the Blue jersey gets my support instantly. I am humble enough to admit that Sancho is an improvement to the team.

I am NOT like you who is not a Chelsea fan, rather players fan. Select who to support and who to hate.

If there is a way to sign Sancho permanently, I am all for it.

Airmark, Popizaino and even Nihilistjnr think that my saying our bigger issue is at the back means that I don't want a better striker for us than Jackson.

When my point has always been that even if you sign Haaland today, as long as you keep making comical errors at the back, you will keep throwing points away.

If you look at my posts for a while now you'll see I've been highlighting four positions where we need to strengthen more: CB, GK, LW and ST.

But their own na to dey shout outscore outscore every day like say na basketball we dey play.

Chelsea has always been known for defensive steel. We won the UCL conceding just 4 bloody goals and still hold the record for least goals conceded in a PL season. Go anc and check how many goals we scored in those seasons.

It is obvious here.

Fix the errors at the back by getting at least one more quality CB and definitely a GK (or hope Jorgensen comes good).

With the dysfunctional striker we still have outscored everybody in the division bar none. Even at that, get a good LW to keep Sancho on his toes, and get another CF who's a different profile to Jackson.

If you score 5 goals in a match and concede 6, will you praise your attack for scoring 5 in a match or will you blame you defense for conceding 6?

Conversely,if you concede just 1 goal but scored zero, will you praise your defense for being tight enough to concede "just" 1 goal or will you blame your attack for not being able to score any?

While our attack need massive improvement to convert chances created, our defense also need to tighten up. Individual errors in defense have cost us a lot this season. So yes, defense is also our problem.

In 2004/05 when Mourinho broke the record of least goals conceded in the league, we scored 72 goals. Arsenal in second scored 87..... The amount of 1-0 matches we played that season was uncountable.

2020/21 when Tuchel won us UCL, we conceded just 4 goals all campaign. 4 goals in 13 matches!

Make una no dey underrate the importance of defense in football.

How about you look at it this other way... We have scored more goals (35) than Man Utd (24) and West ham (33) but they are higher in the table than us. If just scoring goals is the answer, then they should be below us because statistically, our attack is better.

While scoring more goals is important, conceding less is also important. There is no major or minor in both. Balance it out and we are good to go.

You can't go into a match believing you will win when your defenders make individual errors all over the place and you concede needless goals everywhere.

Mourinho came into Chelsea in 2004 and suddenly Geremi became solid. Terry became a rock. Lampard already have the talent but he became much much more better. Joe Cole became a terrorist. Even soft Glenn Johnson deliver wenever he was called upon..... All these are players Mourinho met in Chelsea. So apart from his signings, he still improved the players he met in the club.

Chelsea issue is not just attack.

I even recommended a tactically sound coach who can change things with the personnel on ground because improvement is not only about buy this player or buy that player....

They make it look like you MUST be either on the attack OR defence side of the divide. Once you think defence is the MAJOR problem, it automatically means you are very okay with he attack. You don't want anything to be touched in the attack.

On a serious note, it’s all down to preference and few considerable metrics like longevity, consistency, stats, personal honors, etc.

But then, I believe just like the other folks, that Salah is way more complete and decorated than the rest for EPL.

For me personally, I can't pick any one until an official criteria is brought out then we make a decision based on that. But if you point a gun to my head to choose, it's between Shearer and Salah... Henry and Rooney very close behind.

The bolded is all the more reason why Shearer should be in the conversation. Scoring such number of goals with Blackburn and Newcastle, imagine what he would have done with a Man United or an Arsenal of that time.

Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer are firmly in this conversation.

You can't underestimate what Shearer did with two "not so biggest names" in EPL.

Rooney was Ronaldo's twin terrorist. He lasted more than Ronaldo in EPL. So if Ronaldo is mentioned, why not Rooney?
