Politics › Re: 4 Major Achievement Of The Buhari Administration by Timibabaj(m): 6:06pm On Jul 19, 2018 |
Buhari has done great Chi12baby: National security
The President ran his political campaigns on the restoration of national security.
Today, the 14 local government areas have not only been reclaimed by the military, there is also free movement in the areas.
Perhaps, one piece of cheery news that excited the government was the rescue of one of the 219 Chibok schools girls, Amina Ali, abducted by Boko Haram two years ago.
Anti-corruption war
The fight against corruption defines Buhari’s administration.
The APC government has given the anti-corruption agencies, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, and the judiciary, the liberty to fully launch offensives against corruption and its agents.
This has seen high profile cases with suspects such as a former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki, a former Chief of the Air Staff, Alex Badeh, with the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, the PDP, amongst others connected with the $2.1 arms deal.
No one would ever believe that a Nigerian court would be trying a sitting Senate President who is a chieftain of the ruling party.
Economy and governance
The 2016 budget has provided a road map and appropriate monetary templates for the economy under Buhari.
As the economy is down, efforts are being made to diversify it by investing hugely in agriculture.
Other policies undertaken by the government include the reintroduction of the Treasury Single Account, TSA, where all public funds are channelled into one bank account.
The introduction of Bank Verification Number, BVN, to detect ghost workers amongst others.
There is also the introduction of social welfare packages to help low income Earners.
National image
This is one area Buhari has got a passmark by his assessors.
But the president, upon his assumption of office, undertook some foreign trips within and outside Africa to re-establish Nigeria’s position in the global arena and solicit support for Nigeria and Africa.
The visits saw him go to France, South Africa, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Germany where he attended the G7 summit. |

Obj is not alright Okonsyourguy: You know you're not doing well as a Nigerian leader if OBJ doesn't knock you. He slandered the late Yar'Adua and Jonathan for wanting to chart different progressive courses in their stewardship to Nigerians, it's Buhari's turn to get criticized. It's okay for Obasanjo to criticize Buhari but the manner he has gone about it is rather suspicious.
Is Obasanjo threatened or envious Buhari's achievements will eclipse his 8-year sojourn in Aso Rock and dislogde is dodgy legacy? The game is up for OBJ, Nigerians know his callous ways now. Buhari has won this good vs evil battle already, so OBJ can rest in his Otta Library/mansion. Buhari is doing his job well and good results are speaking for him. Sai Baba!!!

It's always nice to see public office holders hold themselves accountable. I believe this is one trait that has become common since Buhari took over and it really commendable. Babayero212: In this same Nigeria that people are always in a hurry to contest for another tenure, here we have a Rep willing to step down because he just does not want to taint his reputation. The corrupt reputation we have ascribed to politicians all around.
Hon. Abubakar Chika Adamu is this different Nigerian willing to go to these lengths to protect his reputation. According to him, he has not taken money for some thing not open.
He even openly stated his salary and his allowance.
Why am I writing this though? I think what he is doing is great but why leave now? Why leave when he can stay and make changes to what he does not want.
Imagine if Buhari leaves the seat simply because people do not think he is doing a great job?
Buhari is holding it down and correcting things and that is what Hon. Abubakar Chika Adamu should do in my opinion really.
Why go when you can stay and make a change? Your thoughts though? |

The fact that they're transparent about this is amazing. The Buhari effect Okonsyourguy: The APC has upped their transparency game by announcing the earning of N127million from the purchase of sales to its Osun State governorship candidates in the state's forthcoming polls. 17 aspirants were cleared by the APC to contest at tomorrow’s primary, with each paying N7.5 million to participate in the contest.
Take a minute, reflect and applaud the APC for this reporting. This is accountability, transparency and a veritable way Nigerian political parties could fund their activities and not put their hands in the cookie jar.
If other political parties had been this transparent (and not chop-clean-mouth) since the 4th Republic, who knows where Nigeria would be now? This is the #BuhariEffect we're talking about. Politics › Re: The 2019 Election And The Preparation. by Timibabaj(m): 2:48pm On Jul 18, 2018 |
Looking forward to next year. Buhari has my vote Chi12baby: The 2019 general election is scheduled to be conducted early in 2019.
To ensure that adequate arrangements are made for free and fair elections, it has become necessary to appropriate funds to enable the relevant agencies to commence preparations.
INEC and the security agencies have accordingly recently submitted their requests.
These have been subjected to the usual budget evaluation. The aggregate cost of the election is estimated at N254,445,322, 600.
“However, in line with the prevailing fiscal constraints, I am proposing that the sum of N164, 104, 792, 065 be provided for through virement or supplementation of the 2018 budget.
I propose that the balance of N78, 340, 530, 535, mostly related to personnel allowances, fuelling and other costs not required until election proper, be provided in their 2019 budget.
The lawmakers had introduced 6,403 projects into the budget amounting to N578bn.
“Accordingly, I invite the distinguished Senate to consider, in the national interest, relocating some of the funds appropriated for the new projects which were inserted into the 2018 budget proposal totalling N 578, 319, 951, 904 to cover the sum of N228, 854, 800, 205 required as noted above.
“A schedule setting out a comprehensive list of these inserted projects is attached to this letter for ease of your consideration. Further to the above, kindly find attached a supplementary budget and virement proposal for your consideration.
Buhari promised to do everything possible to ensure that the 2019 general elections are free, fair and peaceful.
He said all hands were on deck to forestall the violence that characterised the 2011 elections which necessitated investigations by the International Criminal court at Hague.
Scores of Nigerians were killed in parts of the country in the wake of the violence that broke out after the 2011 elections. |
Politics › Buhari's Demonstration Of Intentional Leadership by Timibabaj(op): 12:18pm On Jul 18, 2018 |
It is expected of every leader to be intentional in their manners and ways because if you want to experience significant progress toward your goal, you need to be intentional about the work you are doing every day. Intentional living has been said to be the art of making our own choices before others' choices make us. The art of being procreative instead of being reactive in the face of challenges and decisions. Being procreative gives you control and reactive puts you under the control of the one who is several steps ahead of you. Being intentional is a key requirement of good leadership. For President Muhammadu Buhari, the trip to the Netherlands could not have come at a better time. It would afford him the opportunity to demonstrate intentional leadership about the current situation of the country, its security, socio-economic state and human rights records. Youths have a massive role to play in making this country a better place and the best place to make this impact from the House of Assembly and Senate House. I agree with you. Babayero212: Can we sit down and analyse something that will help us as youths in this country?
How is it that we want to sort out the problem in Nigeria by using a top to bottom approach since it is well related to the political landscape and terrain that is peculiar to Nigeria?
Trying to sort out the political problem with that top-bottom will not work in Nigerian politics.
Sincerely, I would have thought that all these Young politicians coming out now would have chosen the easier battle and moved up from there.
Imagine a Young and very vibrant youth joining the ranks of the Federal House of Reps or even the Senate
Imagine the ease with which they will use and fight against oppressive laws that might hinder their chances of becoming the President. Once they enter those places of power, they can then move up and with persistence, make changes to laws that will favor them.
I am just surprised that all they do, is to keep fighting for the top position when they can still be quite relevant from the bottom locations then prove their mettle there.
Their followers should really talk to them about fighting a wasted lost battle even from the onset.
Anyway, what are your thoughts on this? |

Saraki has never had good intentions forAPC Okonsyourguy: It appears Jay-Z's line in the Blueprint II, "when the grass is cut, the snakes will show..." has come to play in the drama between the APC and R-APC. Senator representing Nassarawa West, Abdullahi Adamu, has accused the senate president, Bukola Saraki, of being the main man (the green snake in the green grass) behind the rapacious R-APC faction of the ruling APC.
Are you surprised though? Saraki has managed to undermine President Buhari every single chance he could get; arbitrary budget delays and padding, refusal to support the anti-corruption campaign and a host of other funny acts. No one has frustrated President Buhari's intentions of bringing corruption down to its knees more than the sly Saraki since May 2015.
Thank you, Senator Adamu, for confirming what most Nigerians already know. The question now is what's Saraki's next move after the grass covering his shenanigans has been cut? |
