InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by Timmi: 8:34pm On Jan 07, 2008
To all, use the following posted January 4, 2008 as a guide in the coming weeks.

Concerning FCMB, a study of the chart for the past one year shows the following:
1. It seems each high reached is 1.50 points higher than the other high;
2. Expects new high on this run to be at 22; then a new low to follow at 20 in approximately two weeks;
3. And expect a new high to be reached at 23.50+ in about six weeks.

UBA versus OCEANIC

For long time investors, I will put my money in OCEANIC because of the following reasons:
1. Their chart look incanningly similar;
2. EPS 1.81/1.23 - UBA/Oceanic
3. PE 23.47/24.45
4. Outstanding shares 11.29/11.6 billion
5. 2007 Turnover 109.5/74.93 represents 1.22%/1.68% growth over previous year
6 2007 Profit after tax 21.44/17.54 which represnts 20%/23% of turnover
7. From the above data, if both maintains similar profit growth of 20%/23% of turnover and turnover growth of 1.22/1.68 over 2007;
Expect profit after tax in 2008 to be projected at 26.72/28.95 billion.
In conclusion, in a year's time, Oceanic would have a trunover of 125.88 billion as compared with UBA of 133.59 billion and Oceanc would have declare a higher profit after tax; currently the share price of UBA is 49.99 while Oceanic is 36.13 and still dropping. FOR LONG TERM INVESTORS I WILL PUT MY MONEY IN OCEANIC AND KEEP BUYING MORE AS THE PRICE CONTINUE DECLINING.

My two cent's (or should I say kobo) comment.

@ Easimony

I think UBA went to the market around he same time as Oceanic and their share is yet to be added to the outstanding share as well.

PoliticsRe: Iyabo Obasanjo In Contract Scandal by Timmi: 4:24pm On Dec 20, 2007
Granted that Senator Iyabo's actions in this transaction is deplorable and she should not have been involved in this type of deal; which she readily acknowledged herself.  We should be careful not to transfer the hatred that we collectively have towards her father to her.  The real culprit is Chief Awofisayo who went and recruit a company that has no experience in the power sector to bid and won, and then out of greediness tried to scheme the company out of the contract.

The real issue really is the tendency of us Nigerians to always associate ourselves with foreign companies to the detriment of the indigenous ones, even those foreign ones that have no iota of experience in the project, and then we clothe them with our connection to get the contract.  I am not against using expatriates to gain a competitive advantage, but for crying out loud, use a company that is well versed and experienced in the project.  The bane of our problem and I have witnessed this time and time again, is that we will bring someone/company  that has no experience, confer on them an expatriate status and get a shoddy job done, paid them below the premium cost of the contract so as to pocket more money as "gains".  That my friends is the greediness of the Nigerian factor.

Notice that I use "we" in this response, all Nigerians have this same mindset.

The EFCC act that was cited above, if read and understood correctly states ", any person who by any false pretence, and with intent to defraud, "  The key interpretation is the intent to defraud, yes Senator Iyabo impersonates another person, hence false pretence; however, it doesn't appear that she or her company did it with the intent to defraud.  Both companies enter into a contract to bid and both of them misrepresented themselves; Shneider did not posses the required experience to perform the contract, and Akila also misrepresented the facts surrounding the ownership of their company.  The Court or the arbitration panel should be the one to rule on this.

I believe M. Sheneider is just playing to the gallery on this one and trying to tap into the sentiments that most Nigerians have for the person of Obasanjo and not on the merit of their case.  We need to be careful not to join with them in this naked dance at the market place.

FamilyRe: Married and Engaged Members Thread by Timmi: 8:15pm On Sep 27, 2007
This is an interesting thread. Having being married for 26-years so far and making love with the same woman for 27-years, I believe I have something to offer. The secret to lasting and enjoyable marriage is PRAYER. There will be disagreements, some loud some quiet, even to the point of having the children involved. But, the resolution is to know that the disagreement is about personal issues and not about the union. Feelings have to be separated and understood that they are just feelings and those do change. Love does not change.

In addtion, Love is long-suffering, literally, there will be "suffering" in love, but if put in proper perspective and understanding, then Love endures all. Love your wife/husband for who he/she is and not who you want the person to be. If you cannot do that, then marraige will suffer. Trust, inspite of. Put jealous in its proper place, we are only jealous for/over the people that we love. Learn to laugh, even in the midst of argument and disagreement. Don't sleep over disagreements/fights, rather resolve to end all fights the same day. By all means, do not share your marital problems with anyone, especially friends. Enjoy each other's company. Don't let work or friends get in the way of having a date with each other. No matter how long you have been married, still go out on a date once a week. Lastly, but not the least, Enjoy Sex, that is the glue, don't deny each other the enjoyment of sex, and don't you this as a tool.

@ Seun, do you know that the fact that you exist proves that there is God?. Think about it.
