Thanks bro. I won't worry myself then till I arrive. Spouse is a full time student with valid documentation to proof it. Thanks once again.

T

If you already have a visitors visa, you can travel as a visitor. Once you are in the country as a visitor, apply for your open work permit inland. You will be advised how and where to do your medicals by CIC. Also, write a letter you would want a visitor record for the kids. I know its issued at POE's but you will be advised how to get that.

You really dont have anything to worry about as long as your TRV is valid.

You should have applied for your OPW from Nigeria. It would have saved you all the worries. But you will get it as long as your spouse is enrolled full time in a designated learning institution, has a valid study permit and you can show this.

Hello Tee12345,

May God bless you my brother. I was already confused when maternal said it's not possible because I read something like that in CIC website.

Pls how do I go about the visitor's record for my son n daughter and is it adviceable we all do our medicals before leaving so as not to delay my Open work permit when applying inland.

Thanks in anticipation of a positive response.

I am a lady though.Thanks once again.....very relieved.

Regards,
T.

tee12345:

This is how it works bro. As a spouse of a foreign student in Canada, you are eligible for a OWP. However, at time of application, you must demonstrate your spouse is enrolled as a full time student in a designated learning institution.

Now that you have a visit visa, when you get to any Canada POE, do not say you want a work permit. Let the CBSA officer process you and your kids as visitors. If you ask for a work permit, even though you are eligible, you might be suspected as having not expressed true intention when you applied for the visit visa OUTLAND. You don't want that wahala trust me.

when you have been landed in Canada with your kids, you can now apply for an open work permit INLAND without having to leave the country. Its perfectly legal and it will be approved if you can paragraph 1 of this response. INLAND applications arr processed quickly too.

yes your 4yr old will be allowed to attend school without study permit. However, you might require a visitor record for that.

Thank you maternal. However, it is stated in cic website that a spouse of a full time student can apply for an open work permit.

Where i want clarity is - can i still apply for OWP since the coop duration is a mandatory session towards the completion of my spouse education.

Regards,
T.

maternal:

A visiting visa is just for VISITING. You won't get a work permit. While I don't think Canada would like to educate your child with tax payers money, I believe by law every child has a right to attend school to the high school level. You may get away with that one.

Hello all,

Myself and my two kids have just gotten our visas processed in 6 working days.

Please i just want to know if i can apply in canada for open work permit on arrival as my spouse is currently studying there and would be on coop work permit from May.

I want to know if my son who is 4years can also school without study permit. I will enrol the little one in creche once i am able to get a job.

Anyone with valuable input should please shed some light to my question for clarity purpose.

Kindly advice because the tot of going to the school alone is already giving me sleepless nights.

Funny enough, Ive not said Lasu is much of a great school, I had issues there, so I myself know how pathetic it is..
But then with the new system, getting a transcript is fast and easy. Shikena

Ha saxywale, mehn dat amount is not looking sexy at all.....toddler. How much i go come pay from infant till toddler.

na wa ooo, this canny biz no be small tin o. We are really enjoying in naija sha. Buh am sure they start school from 4years tho cos paying double that amount aint goin to be funny at all o.

saxywale:
the one my toddler attends cost $880/month full time and part time is $480/month. The poster might need to work around that figure.

It would vary according to location and reputation of the daycare. Home care givers may or may not be a cheaper option.

I am yet to find a cheap daycare or caregiver though.

Chrigo,

Believe me! I knw an agent in nija who collected 50k to get admission for a Lambton fellow. I knw wot am saying.

D amt is nt even d issue but Lambton shd nt ask pips to pay tru agents.....its very wrong. All admission process shd be strictly btw 2 parties Lambton n d aspiring student. A 3rd party is nt needed!
ChriGo: ...just came online...lovelydamsel is right...its just for admission...not visa purpose....they only charge N8000 ($50) on that not N50,000.....
