WebmastersRe: Website Review by timmy(m): 4:56pm On Jul 25, 2006
@My2cents, for all reasons, i don't like that site at all, its so ugly, It doesnt even speak for it self, guy with all your critiques ild have expected a far better design from you.

My Verdicts
1. you tittle says "Home page | Akwa Ibom, " Home Page what, who care if it the kitchen page, why not just simply welcome them, it sounds like shocked,

2. " News/Articles | Calendar of Events " the styles are not like others, its already showing the vlink styles, when i havnt even visited the pages (very immature)

3. Even though you used a template method to duplicate pages, i guess the contents of the contact page is too short to have a bookmark [back to the top] on it. huh

4. Your banner sucks

5. for some unknown reasons, i feel you don't know how to customize you anchor tags at active state <a> because the blue looks to me as my browser default for active links, when i changed my default link color in my browser, its affected you active links, lets wonder why, (you got bad css problems ?, i could send you links tongue)

6. Your text sizes arent consistent, considering the fact that your breadcrumbs are way smaller than your body texts

7. Just laff at my comments grin

Somtimes i get to wonder what someppl think about money making, goosh!! a brother wants to know if he'ld make it in web, and you are giving him advertising advices, do you know how expensive these things are? the best he can do as regards that is to get a snippet ad on dailies and the dont always do too much, with respect to the fact that he is even just starting,

My advice is that you start with freelancing for a while, get better and then blow big, You must start to crawl before you run, else yould fall. No matter how much ad's you make, or support you get, wink
WebmastersRe: The Best Way To Bill Your Client For Your Website Design Jobs by timmy(m): 1:09am On Jul 25, 2006
@smartsoft, see why i dont like crappy advices, they suck, see the share truth is this, you dont or cant value your skills yet, just charge at you wish, you know what you can do and what it would take you, the fact about freelancers is that they can do a 200k job for 30k and still feel okay somehow, just keep charging what you can mention, someday yould break even and charge better, evry body has got the problem, so its not just you, even the likes of woo-interactive bid site for 4.5million and still lost to a higher bidder for 6.5 million and i got paid 250k for a subsidiary of the same comapy

The site was supposed to be a 4 site portal (6.5M / 4 ) ie each site was over 1M and they were all crapp and full of copy and paste (www.ubagroup.com) man i hate that site with a badbelly pation angry

@Zogo, dont even thin about it, web presence providing sucks, and you might regret coming into it, dont mind all those post above mine, they wont tell you the truth, see, yould get so frustrated that if you have no other income source, you might consider sucide, but if you manage to scale through like a few of ** then you just might be smiling to the banks very regularly, grin

WebmastersRe: How To Convince A Hotel To Let Me Design Their Website by timmy(m): 12:34am On Jul 25, 2006
@smartsoft is it by force to do web, they said theld call you when they are intresed, abeg face school joo, PM me the hotel name maybe i could help you steal the job (joking), but really man, whats the need for a hotel to have a site in nija sef, cos most ppl who lounge dont always make pre-reservations. i feel its just a waste of money on there part. Pity them and let them settle, Wait till we have a rich tourism culture around here. Im sure thell want your sercies then. Meanwhile you can got in anytime to watch CNN. Just bone joo.

Im sure they see you as a freelancer they cant trust with their money. If your had a better packaged uche, maybe thel have considerd further, But really you do somfin cheap for them rather than the free offer Kazey is Givin, tell dem yuld give dem email services and two pages for as cheap as 20,000, a least that one would make you pay skima for your domain and yu do the hosting for free on your plan.

grin

@Kazey, i dont fink that free thingy works around here ohh!!

loungr:
Yes oo my Ajax tutor taught me, but lets not forget am a self taught programmer
man go learn much much more

and from what I can gather you hav avoided talking about your 934 pages,
theres no need talking about what you wont understand

You seem to not recognize that AJAX can have a major influence on your design process and hence make it more complex which is kind of what am trying to say.
what you are trying to say? OMG!! then you must have a very bad way of saying it

But you wouln't know since the Wikipedia article you read didn't cover that topic.
now i know your souce  grin

and can you pls tell me what the extension of a page "develope" with ajax is

im guessing index.ajx (LMAO!!) grin grin
WebmastersRe: Web Design Job - I Need A Web Designer Of The Highest Calibre by timmy(m): 2:32pm On Jul 22, 2006
see why i  don't like posting on threads like this, whats ajax got to do with this now, all this guys who just claim to know and they don't know jack, who says you build sites with ajax,  OMG!! see whats your name sef, abeg go learn more.

For your info, ajax don't build site, it don't design site, its an hybrid of existing technologies and it has existed ever since,  but its just taking a news trendy phase,  is an hybrid of javascript(im assuming you know what that it), and xml (though not always) even if you have to use ajax, it wont generate you pages for you, you either have to use an external file or use you dynamic recordset filters to display your contents

To lecture you better, what ajax does "mainly" is to eliminate re-loading of pages as in kill the F5 function and add some shakara to your pages, making them more interactive, using an asynchronous request to the server with th epower of almighty javascript,

loungr:
Well if you 934 pages consist of

<html><head>
<title>Page 1</title>
Yea this is page one
<head></html>
and please don't forget to go back to your basic HTML basics, creating contents outside the <body>  tag is a very bad way to design, im sure your ajax tutor must have told you that  grin
WebmastersRe: Please Review Our Website At Wetinbe.com by timmy(m): 2:13pm On Jul 22, 2006
not impressive, to my personal standars, do somting far much better, that design wont make the site grow beyond the demo stage it is , (just my personal verdict, no hard fellings)
WebmastersRe: Web Design Job - I Need A Web Designer Of The Highest Calibre by timmy(m): 4:43pm On Jul 21, 2006
@loungr, guntavibes, my2cents, seee this guys tellin me or maybeasking me if im running a template, LOLZ well im done with the era of throwing back words so ild just keep ease, well just incase you should know, the whole 934 pages are pure html as in each page was touched, static html im making the dynamic version soon but all the pages were touched, i didnt even use any ssi's at all and only the homepage runs anyform of .js files all others are pure html, and pls tell me what two page website would cost more than a 934 page site if its not ant installer file.

and meanwhile you guys should not ask me for the url cos i aint showing it, and to the guy who think it took me 2 years LOLZ again , well it took about emmmmm, say two months aprox, abeg anyone who wants to get a breakthrough should stop flaunting portfolios for a two page design wich im sure is cheap and static cos form specs the guy is promising more (from my experience [4 active design years] clients who promsie you more even before you deliver or start the job are always those ready to pay less for a good job)

you guys should keep up, grin cheesy grin cheesy
WebmastersRe: Web Design Job - I Need A Web Designer Of The Highest Calibre by timmy(m): 7:14pm On Jul 17, 2006
ROTFLMAO grin cheesy grin, see web boy flying their portfolio in the air, lolz
you guys should keep it up jare, its really cool to see that guys are really eager to do a TWO (2) page web,

Hell!! no, man my advice for al you is to seek more challenging jobs abeg, i just finished a 934 page website now, goosh my click finger aches,

well, jokes apart im thinking of outscourcing my 10 page web jobs any one intrested (sure they all are, if the could list so much for a two page job)

WebmastersRe: What Does A Web Developer Earn In Nigeria? by timmy(m): 7:51pm On Jul 15, 2006
well your request is abstract and really theres no fixed price on salaries around here (Nigeria) except in the mega industries, (bankin, telecom, oil).
in the web-firms around here, prices are based on company strenght, companies like Tavia tech, woo and more-advice still pay there guys at a range of 20-70,000 a month, so i guess it depends on how much you can afford and how much skills that can fetch you grin
EducationRe: Covenant University by timmy(m): 7:16pm On Jun 16, 2006
Waoo!! this thread had grown out from the last time i saw it,
Let me start like this, i was opportuned to work/live in covenant university for a little bit over a month. and i tell you, what i saw (see) is way beyond wonders. The school is awesome. The facillities are uptpdate. I worked with the enitre school from the vice chancellor, registrar and all deans, hod's and lectures even non academic staffs, so i have a total feel of the background processes that go on.

Lets start with the compound, the flowery is international, paris standard, the school is so fine, well cared for and kept every day, the buildings are off the hook, strong and beautiful structures. The students are all well mannerd and dressed, the hostel (from outside, anyways) are splendid, the hospitality and method of delivery is cool, You all should not complain, because i felt their vision and i understand very well where and what they intend to achieve.

and now the the main issue, the foods(cafeteria) is four star hotel rated,  i grew freasher and fatter  ;Dfrom eating their , you can visit their newly developed website, to get a view of the school,  the idea is to have an online prescence that tells you what you need to know rather than ask why 250,000 should be paid,  From all i saw, the money is VERY WELL justified, all their lectures are top skilld prefessional, you can view all staff CV from the website

http://www.covenantuniversity.com/index.html

lets know your comment on the site  wink
