@healthserve your points are noted. I will ignore the assertion that you tried to insinuate, I was painting a gloom pix for the OP. The decision is his, which was my first line. Thanks for the positivity

healthserve:

Three months to know whatever chaos he's imagine is purely mental/psychological and differs from reality. Its fear that binds people Sir

Are you kidding me ? Three months ?? Three months would be like Three weeks for a new Aussie just come. OP seat with your family and consider all your options, and . do not underestimate the time you will need to settle. There's a waiting list for almost everything in Sydney: accommodation, education etc

healthserve:

Its easy. Travel alone, after three months you'll get yourself settled in and then send for them

You call this Skepticism for a married man with 3 kids ? He isnt a bloke just fresh out of school or a bachelor just starting out. A number of happily married families in Naija move over and get found out because of assumptions, leading to depression and desperation. The state provides no support for someone without a PR/Citizen. You already have got the potential from your posts and I see no reason why a company in Sydney shouldnt be able to pay at least 120k AUD.

healthserve:
What matters is doing what one wants to do. When skepticisms start coming into the picture, one convinces oneself to not carry out a preplanned action. There's always a way if we thrust forward with our actions. I feel its 85% go, to me personally o.

You asked for candid advice. Here it is, from, as close to Sydney as possible. The decision is ultimately yours and would suggest you should take any suggestion you get from anyone as relative if you wanna chart your part. On only 85K AUD a yr, You will just be `there` with a family of 5 . Your minimum living requirement for a family of that size is 72 m2 -90 m2 and for Suburbs as far as 20 km from the CBD will set you back around 3k a month. Your income after tax will hover around 5.2 - 5.5k a month, so a huge chunk is gone. your kids are quite young except they all stay at home, becos you will be unable to afford pre-school which the cheapest is about 40AUD a day per child. Kids start pry school by 5, and without a PR you won't also get `free` pry education. Electricity, Gas, Transport and Internet costs are substantial in Sydney so are Consumer goods and groceries when you factor kids needs. it also difficult for me to see if how you would add comfort in covering all your bills let alone having any disposable income every month. So ensure you do a proper plan. It's only a livable income though. Sydney is not a city where one of the parents work. You both have to, FAST. I mean ASAP.

dubaiprince:
Please i need a candid advice. I am married with three kids (5,3 and 1). I stay in Lagos and my salary is about 10 million per annum with bright chances this will increase yearly in terms of salary reviews and promotions as I work with a big four. In short, I can currently afford to send my kids to good schools and take care of my family's basic needs (2 cars and have a building project ongoing). Would it be advisable to take a job offer in Australia (most likely sydney) for 80 to 85k AUD per annum pre-tax and live comfortably there with my family?
From my findings on quora, it's looking like it may not be a wise decision to take the Australian offer but I need advice from Nigerians that currently stay in Australia on this forum.

Guys, we all keep talking about how much taxes reduces all your incomes and all that, but i would like to say, no matter how much you are taxed, you can still make good income. I attached a screen shot of the week i earned my highest pay this year, and as you can see, i was charged a lot in taxes, but i still made good money that week. Though i made Imagine getting $2222 in a week. Like i said, its hard work, because i dont get much sleep, but then again i wasn't getting much sleep in Nigeria because of stress, PHCN, noise from generators and security. I earned quite a lot that week also because, 2 of the days in that week were STAT days (holiday) and i worked on that day.
So guys, taxes are not scary at all, the more you earn, the more you get taxed, but the point there 'THE MORE YOU EARN'. Just to point out, this was my pay for that week.

I salute your doggedness and determination. Its the key to success but you need to try and find a balance. You worked a freaking 120 hrs in a week from this your screenshot. How many hrs dey 7 days ? Guy you dey sleep so ? Out of 3.6 cash, they took 1.4 , thats about 40% and thats high. Am also seeing everyone wants your money but not knowing your hustle is x3 , aint certainly not the norm. Keep up the diligence and the hardwork

Hello House Please i need advice from you guys.

I am currently a holder of a critical skill permit and also employed. One thing is that my area of employment is not same as my field of training.

I completed an honours program in Geophysics in SA and after my honours I applied for a critical skill visa and was issued a 1 year visa.

The conditions for renewal of the visa was for me to register with my professional body and also get an employment contract within the 1 year.

Now i have applied for the professional body and was given a letter which says i have applied. I am also currently employed as a software developer (PHP Developer specifically).

So i have a letter from SACNASP (South African Council for Natural Science Professional) while my job is in ICT in the Integrated Developers section of critical skill list.

My Boss asked that if i like i can draft a letter and give him to sign as a supporting document towards the renewal of my visa.

I don't know if it will be an issue for someone with a critical skill in Geophysics but practicing software development even though both are in the critical skill list.

Or should i take advantage of the fact that the software product i will be working on has a very tiny aspect which is related to geophysics and draft a letter to accentuate the fact?

Quite sensitive. But you will need to seek official info from the folks at the dhs maybe via a proxy or via an email enquiry. I suspect you might have to re-register with IITPSA. But I do not think this scenario can adversely affect your current permit or access to one if you are due for renewal. Its just a case of you having multi competencies. You are most likely not the first with this scenario so get an official feedback from dhs without necessarily reporting yourself.

Building or buying an average duplex should cost over 20-30million naira or more depending on where you live. Remember if you travel to the US. with non-immigrant visa your first five years might be wasted trying to get your green card. Then the next ten years will be used to get your feet on the ground, then settling down and getting married, now you see the angle I am looking at it from?

I see your basis but this is a terribly ignorant assertion. Its better you modify the subject to include 'My Opinion'. Also note , not everyone jumps around looking for GC on just its basis. Some arrive from nigeria and on day one with a work permit, a lot study and upon graduation are making giant strides in US corporations

Dont bother. Save your money. You will have to let it go and explore BETTER options. SA does not represent the end of the road for any nigerian. Not even in our present state.

Do you have a job offer? Then your account balance is inconsequential instead you will be required to submit a copy of your employment contract

If the pay is good you could go and enjoy your life in Malmo/Copenhagen on the weekends and return back to work on Monday morning, otherwise I don’t see any other workaround.

Well the pay is about 20ksek after tax. Was already on 600k net here in Naija. Do u reckon I would be able to maintain my lifestyle and a size able portion for savings (no 1 priority ).

Karlskrona is a small place located at the dead end of Sweden, I doubt if there are any African stores to shop from. 95% of your staple foods would be from the Swedish stores (potatoes, rice, pork, pasta, chicken, fish and expensive meat)

To get anything meaningful you need to travel all the way to Malmo and that’s like 3hrs30mins. The biggest disadvantage is the geographic proximity of the place to almost nothing, and the long hrs it will take you to get out of the village if social life is your thing.

You shouldn’t expect any fantastic nightlife as you have one nightclub for matured folks and almost no pubs. The beauty of the place is there are many start-up companies and I think over 40 mushroom telcos and incubators.

As for weather you should get a fleece winter jacket, some thermal underwear and original winter shoe laced with fleece material inside preferably Gore-Tex.

Make sure the company has arranged an apartment for you because all over Sweden we have a long wait queue for apartment of around 5yrs in the villages and 10-15yrs in the big cities due to the influx of asylum seekers.

Please check all your employment papers and be sure your company has fulfilled all the immigration requirements. Two important things to avoid deportation if you are on a temp work permit are take out a compulsory 90% vacation days yearly and make sure your company has fixed insurance properly. Please read more on the link below.

Thanks Olaboy1 not so much inspiring I would say especially as you have painted a boring village life scenario. Any workaround with the social life?

if you don't have any skill to offer please go to school. You can come to SA as a skilled professional or student in STEM.

My advise is you book directly with an hotel in SA. don't use proxy. This can be done online with your card and obtain a verifiable booking.

Many thanks. Any hotel recommendations?

@AbujaNIV,

Dear VO,

My wife is the US and is due to return on the 14th next week. She actually had given birth in the US, but the challenge is that there's not enough sufficient time to get a Nigeria VISA for the infant. To allow for VISA application , we need to change the departure dates by at least a few days, but the challenge is that the earliest available flight for emirates out of the US now is 29th. The problem is she was stamped in for 3months to leave the US on the 26th., the only available out is 29th. but by then she would have just been 3 months instead of six like other people

Kindly advise.

It seems this Oshobar or whatever has a penchant for making claims to availability when you know that there's honestly none or do you normally base your availability on number of real house agents you know ? This is Surulere we are talking about . Tread carefully cos you are already lining into the category of claimers who are more interested in a 'reg' fee than the existence of what their adverts are. #done..this..to..me..too
