shame about the Nigeria loss but come on i'm sure you had fun today. Since this was your first visit, you should have gone into the park and had fun with the snow.

Even if the people you came to visit are poor, the park is free and it's a nice place to come across people of all kinds, just stay away from the likes of fatliar, i beleieve he was right about his name probably wants to do the torso in the thames rubbish all over again.

Thanks segedo u answered th question. If you find a way to enter legally it's unwise to leave without securing something here and my project is almost complete. Only a maximum of three years to go. End of 2006 was good hoping this will link up to 2007 and the rest is sorted. If you read other posts of mine, you'll realise i hate it here and i speak for a lot of people. They (we) just have to plan it or else you'll lose on both sides.

Easy you idiot i was trying to kill two birds with one stone. She will get an account opened for her and the person also has another record of introducing a new customer to the company. If she wants to open an account and doesn't get anything say she is opening or she has opened. She shouldn'e release her money. Of all the wys to cheat people out of their money. You think it will be opening an account that one will make money.

At leaset you'll open the account first.

Nairaland GeneralRe: The Nigerian Police Force: How do you view them? by tinard(m): 3:58pm On Dec 02, 2006
I forgot to mention that the police were dealing with a member of the OPC when we arived at the scene because his motorcycle had a defective headlight. They were about to take it in when we arrived at the scene. The OPC member was still beeging for his bike not to be taken in when the constable suddenly said "what did you say". We kept moving and then he said "you there, i said come back here". Since we were the only ones on the street apart from the OPC guy, the police themselves and ourselves, we had to turn back.

I called a policeman aside and started chatting to him about the problem. My mate went to the constable and started having a chat that i just came from a village and never dealt with the police before so he was trying to explain something to me that i was naive and didn't know about the town, so he was teaching me about the authorities in the big city. The constable - i forgot to tell you was drunk - was pissed off and started getting aggravated. My mate kept trying to persuade him to understand his viewpoint. Meanwhile the OPC was still being dealt with by another police officer and the one i was chatting to made a signal to his superior to highlight there was a problem futher down. The constable just dismissed his attempt to get his attention. This meant my mate had to come up with the full story.

He explained and he said all he meant by the statement was that they were going along the same direction and that they will eventually offer their assistance. He mad a mistake of saying "seargent, please i'm sorry, we are on our way to call the man's family to the crime scene and maybe they can drive him down to the hospital". The constable just went mad as if being drunk wasn't enough. You are calling me a seargent, i went to the university, studied for five years, came out with an upper class bla bla bla bla bla, u students are full of shit, you have no respect, ". He called another one out to lock my mate and said he was taking him in. By this time, the OPC had failed to negotiate and his motorcycle was almost inside the van. My mate started begging the police locking him by his belt to please release him and help in persuading the constable to let him go. I was doing the same with the one i'd being talking to all night.

The constable checked his gun to see if it was loaded. He cocked it, pointed it at me then about three quarter way up and took a shot. Damn that thing almost deafened me because it was unexpected and uncalled for. My mate eyed me to start moving away since i was free. I couldn't leave without him so i was still negotiating. He started getting pissed at me but i still wasn't going anywhere. He eventually got free as the constable was loading his gun once more. By this time, all lights went off and not even a squirrel was on the street. I had even tost sight of my OPC guy. All i knew waht there four police men outside the van and four inside the car. My mate started off behind kiosks into a residents courtyard. I followed him but noticed the constable had finished loading and was cocking his gun. I ran behind him.

I was sure we couldn't stay in this courtyard and made for the back of the house. Behind the house was a fence that was twice as tall as i was. Thank God that i wasn't such a good boy in the previous life i let behind before i left Nigeria. He asked if i could make it or needed a hand. I said i was ok and made my way over the fence. You could hear the van in the courtyard as we lept over the fence. We ran like hell till we got to our residence. Luckily, the injured's residence was just a few blocks away from my mate's residence, so we were going in the same direction anyway. When we arrived, he ran inside, locked the door, changed, but lights on, music and washed his hands and face. I refused to do anything except take off my shirt. The next morning, we found out the passenger at the back died of head injuries. The driver liver lived to tell the tale.
Nairaland GeneralRe: The Nigerian Police Force: How do you view them? by tinard(m): 3:25pm On Dec 02, 2006
Here's a short story about one of many incidents with the plice. This one happened during my visit to Nigeria last summer.

I was at OAU in Ife visiting some friends and we all went out for fun. We had a nice day in town and wanted to return to university. A friend of mine was having trouble with the bus conductor and they were dealing with their problems when a car sommersaulted in the air three times as i recalled. I went straight there to assist. There were two male passengers they wee both drunk. The passenger at the back of the car came flying out of the car head first. Th car landed on its drivers side so the driver was stuck.

All cars slowed down at this point and drove right through. None rolled down their window to even check anything they were just slow to protect their tyres. All public transport guys disappeared and were no where to be found. The few i saw were unready to help insisting they needed 5 student ids. The best i could do was 2 and that was including an offer to pay them #15000 for a ten minute ride to the gate of the hospital. All dclined insisting the police will take more than that and they could even be done for murder.

We ended up getting the driver out of the car and he was actually ok enough to talk but he was injured badly. Broke his arm amongst other things. There was a lot of broken beer bottles mostly gulder on the floor and some were even still untouched. After a lot of negotiations with no result, we decided to visit the mans home for assistance apparently it was only about ten minutes away on foot. So we asked the okada drivers to assist in sending the message across quickly. This was a night when you could have sold up to ten motorcycles on ebay or even given them away as most of the motorcycles were left with their keys and others were just left there with no driver in sight.

In other not to get in more trouble, we decided to walk down to the address of the driver. On our way, we saw the police van. It had eight policemen in there including a police constable( don't know what they are called in naija). Being an amateur and the fact that i hadn't been to Nigeria in about five years i opened my gob and asked one of my mates if we should tell the police what was going on. At least, the problem can be resolved quicker that way. He whispered to "in this country, you don't tell the police what to do, you could get in trouble for it. If they keep moving, they will eventually see it down the road and there, they can deal with it or do whatever they want to do. Let's keep walking" He said.

Call 08023140359 and ask for Bazil. He'll help you open an account He did it for me and said he'll help any body abroad as well. However you do need #50000 but you can withdraw everything immediately. The company just has rules that you need at least that amount. Howevee, it is also the only bank that will allow you to withdraw everything to the last kobo in any one day.

First-time buyers will have to fork out a cool million pounds to get a foothold on the property ladder in less than 20 years, data showed on Monday.

Full story at http://uk.news.yahoo.com/06112006/325/million-pound-starter-home-2024.html

We've seen graduates rushing to the British embassy and wasting all their savings in the hope of getting into England and getting a job. Now the unemployment level in England stands at 1.6 million people - the highest for six years which is about 5.2%. Adding to the problem is the issue of the rising property market over the past few months. It keeps rising and it is forecasted to keep rising as a result of the forthcoming Olympics amongst other factors. We already heard about those that arrive and end up cleaning roads and other dirty jobs.

Do not get me wrong there is no problem in doing these jobs, it is the matter of can these job sustain the frequent increse in expense in England especially London. London has just recently overtaken Tokyo as the world's most expensive city with the rise in rent, mortgage, and other cost of living. I don't even want to get into the tax system because that in itself is enough to make you hate the country.

Furthermore, this upsurge in unemployment is set to increase hen Bulgaria and Romania citizens are allowed to walk into the country starting on the first of next year. When Poland joined it was estimated 400000 would come into the country in the first 3 years this figure had already quadrupled in the first two years.

As Nigerians we pride ourselves in owning properties and other long term assets. If the average graduate earning £24000 with most earning btw £16k and £21k, and the average house price in London is set at over £200k, with most graduates having over £20k of debt at time of graduation, how will these graduate ever get on the property ladder?

True that. His death will fuel a civil war in Iraq the sunni muslims are warning already. They will definitely try to avert the sentence but tat will never happen. Therefore the sooner the death sentence is carried out the sooner the whole world will go back to normal. As for the terrorism even without the capture or killing of saddam that was bound to continue.

Osama if you are still out there and you are not dead as rumour carried out. They are coming for you.
Foreign AffairsRe: Saddam Hussein Sentenced To Death By Hanging by tinard(m): 9:10pm On Nov 05, 2006
This was all just stupid. You knew he would be sentenced to death immediately he was captured. I would have prefered a better sentence because this will all finish in a days work.

Death by hanging - 5mins
Electric chair - 30mins
Life imprisonment- 10years
Chaining him him to be flogged by the public everyday - Priceless
CareerRe: Should I Return To Nigeria To Work? by tinard(m): 12:01pm On Nov 04, 2006
Nice one Honey pot bless you. I understand we shouldn't care about where the guy goes to uni and that's why i continued my advise but to take threads seriously every one has to at least have a hint of truth in what they are posting.

I've never been a big fan of the country and never will be and i talk to these guys and it's amazing how old they are, the things they know and have experienced, you can also see them as security staffs and parking attendants.

I just recently convinced a family member who hated me so much because he wanted to come over here and it seemed as though i didn't want to help him when i kept saying he should get a good job after his degree and in a few years he'll be able to visit then he'll see for himself why the place is not as sacred as all Nigerians believe. Now he has a job at one of the top banks in Nigeria and he'll be visiting the country next year.

Please check well before you decide to come into the country it's not all as rosy as it is always proposed. If anyone tries to get you in illegally then definitely reject that because it's not as easy as it used to be to get all the things you need to get a job, NHS number and the lot and at the end of the day if you are caught by the old bill, you go to prison for a year. It' not worth the hassle.
CareerRe: Should I Return To Nigeria To Work? by tinard(m): 5:15am On Nov 04, 2006
Constantin you are a Arrow you don't go to LSE. There's no need to lie just as for advise if you needed it. Don't try and lie your way through life you won't get anywhere.

Truth is you are a sad teenager who thinks it will be funny to do something like this. You have a girlfriend not to talk of Irish girl. Your parents aren't rich or nothing. As far as I'm concerned you don't live in the UK and you've never been there.

Please only post relevant things. Anyone else who wants a good advise regarding the topic hope we answered the questions. Taxes in England are massive. Amass wealth and return to your homeland. You'll never be rich working for someone else. Truth is even it you are getting paid a million pounds a year you are still only getting paid a small percentage of your worth. That's why your employer can pay you that much. Think about it how much have you made for your employer to be able to pay you a million quid a year.

You never answered my questions and you fell for the course i chose for you.

Thanks donzman and all the others that have contributed to this thread. As explained earlier plans are underway and hopefully it will open in the new year.

@ khali u said get in touch but left no mode of contact

@helma where in Lagos what do you offer and ho good was the first few months.

Plans will move faster once i visit this xmas and see Nigerians at their busiest time of the year. All i need to know now is Nigeria's take on the environment. Every country is trying to go green and this is having a massive effect on supermarkets. What's Nigeria doing to supermarkets or is it same old same old?

By the way do you have a facebook address?
CareerRe: Should I Return To Nigeria To Work? by tinard(m): 3:39pm On Oct 30, 2006
Hi don't know if we've actually met or seen each other before because i study at LSE as well. My advise will e to leave the country and move to the states or another European country if you can work something out with Saatchi if you can be transfered over there. Come on, how long have you been at LSE for you not to know the resources available at your feet. why do you think ppl cry to get into the uni every year. Talk to the ACS{Arican Carribean society}. Go to careers advice in Tower 3.

Having not finished your major also means you'll be able to apply to other companies. I know other companies will be will and you don't have to go to just consulting, your course is good enough to get you a lot of jobs and with the uni you are in and if your results are satisfactory you've got to try it.

I need to stop babbling and really come up with my two cents. I can't stand the tax system in the country and since it is one of the things i deal with every day and i'm also a victim of the system, my advise is to leave and try another country. Even with a £30000 salary in a year, you only get about £1800 a month if you have student loan to pay, this reduces. If you've got bank loan, overdraft, credit cards like most students have to pay, this is even worse unless you have a rich parent or your girlfriend is rich.

As you know, this salary will not get you a mortgage unless you girl also earns about the same as you do and then you'll have to move out of london into zones 4, 5 or 6. So no chance to get on the property larder, the income is not enough to pay for everything in a month if you are the only earner, what are your options. WORK IN THE CITY LIKE OTHER LSE STUDENTS?, MOVE TO THE US OR ANOTHER EUROPEAN COUNTRY?, STAY HERE AND ROT? MOVE TO NIGERIA NOW AND ALSO ROT?,

Well now you have options i think it will be wise to think about all of them carefully. I'm also planning to move to Nigeria but first you need to have a back u plan here just in case it all doesn't go down as well as it is expected in Nigeria. So in essence what am i saying. Strike a deal with either Saatchi or another company, use the resources at your feet to guide you and talk to ppl. I'm a very timid guy myself so if you don't talk to a lot of ppl then do the research on the net. It's all in the LSE careers service page. Talk to your personal tutor and other professors. Do not let any of these guys fool you. As a consultant, you won't be doing anything for the first few years, so you will be at their beck and all for the first few years until you are well established probably take a few exams and then you'll also start getting promotions and the lot.

Promotions also aren't what they all say it is so many haven't risen in all the years they've been there. it's not coz they don't want to it is because there is no available position. the working hours are also longer than they all say it is plus i'm sure after a few years in london {5 if you only came to do ur ug and pg}, you are sick of smelling another guys armpit in the tube.

I remember that when i started this thread, i was talking about how kids are so scared of their parents that they never tell them anything. We have now established that most of us were beaten and also that some will like to take this approach on their kids.

Now the question is have you ever had a problem with your uncle, auntie, teacher etc that you couldn't relate this to your parents probably not because you thought they'll beat you but just out of fear.

Are you scared of your parents OR were you scared of your parents? Will you use the same approach if or when you have kids? Is this approach of beating the kids and on asking why they've been beaten, you reply JUST IN CASE a good approach or does it just compound the fear?

Personally i've been planning for a while now but still haven't found ppl who can do it. You also need to carry extra fuel and food with you. Also change a few pounds or nairas to each country you'll be passing through's currency. You don't want any surprises. A doctor will be a bad idea just be a first aider.
