His younger brother Don Etiebet, the former minister of petroleum is still alive. He is the one appointed. Retract this, please. |

Politics › Charles Aniagwu: Wike Didn’t Respect Zoning In Rivers in 2015, Ayu Won’t Resign by tinsel(op): 1:44pm On Sep 23, 2022 |
Charles Aniagwu, spokesman of the PDP presidential campaign council, says Nyesom Wike rejected zoning of PDP governorship ticket in Rivers in 2015.
Aniagwu said this during an interview on Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), on Friday. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been in crisis since the election of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar as the standard bearer of the party.
It got worse when Wike, whom many thought would be chosen as the party’s vice-presidential candidate, was ignored by Atiku for feanyi Okowa, governor of Delta Speaking on the crisis rocking the party, Aniagwu said Wike cannot compare the zoning formular in the PDP with that of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) because the last person to become president in the party, Goodluck Jonathan, was from the south.
“In 2015, let’s not forget, Amaechi was leaving office. Amaechi is from the same place as Wike. You didn’t say let’s us move to the waterside. What Wike said then that I recall was that you need to, first of all, have the power before you begin to respect zoning. That the party in Rivers was not in power because Amaechi has moved to APC. That PDP cannot be talking about zoning when they were not in power in Rivers,” Aniagwu said.
“In Nigeria today, PDP is not in power. Besides, the last president from the party was Goodluck Jonathan from the south. Are you using Buhari of APC to zone in PDP when we are operating different constitutions? Those are some of the issues that I like my brother to answer.”
Aniagwu asked aggrieved members of the party to respect the decision of the national executive council (NEC) of the party which passed a vote of confidence on the national chairman.
“The NEC of the party met and said they had examined these issues and Ayu says if the party asks me to go in the NEC I will go. The NEC of the party met, and this is democracy, and say no we are giving you people a vote of confidence to be able to work because you have done well in Osun. These same members of the party who said they are party members don’t have respect for the party and does not even want to respect the decision of the NEC.
“But we are pleading with them. The reason why we are pleading is that Atiku wants to run with everybody on board. What you are demanding what is the problem of this timeline. In six months, this election would have been done and dusted and then everything you want to change can change. You will say in one meeting you are not talking about appointment but you are talking about elected people. In one meeting, you will sit down you will balkanise your constitution, you will rape your constitution and you want to be the doctor to perform a surgery.” https://www.thecable.ng/pdp-campaign-spokesman-wike-didnt-respect-zoning-in-rivers-ayu-wont-resign/amp

Chidibe212: I have read series of topics on the certificates submitted by Peter Obi and shared by INEC.
Please I want to ask, does the certificates published by INEC disqualify Peter Obi from contesting for the Presidential race?
If yes, then INEC should disqualify him. If no, the why the saga coming in like a flood just to discredit a potential presidential aspirant?
I have also read a story here on nairaland were a guy that graduated with PASS in a Nigerian university went schooling abroad and graduate with a FIRST CLASS. Does this determine how WISE he is?
What really is the fuss about Peter Obi's certificates submitted by INEC? The least of Certificate that is required by INEC that can be submitted by an aspirant is SSCE/GCE which amongst others Peter Obi submitted. If para venture that Peter Obi submitted his acquired credentials I don't think it will contain the column created by INEC.
Nevertheless, if the published certificate by INEC disqualifies Obi then so be it. If not then try and vote who you know and believe will change Nigeria to a great country envied by others.
Vote wisely in February 2023 OP, the real question is why did somebody with a degree certificate submitted only secondary school certificate? Don't you think there is more to this? |

OP, this is altered. Peter made a third class. And I am sure you did it on your own to campaign here. I left Nsukka the same year with Peter. If you want I can screen the convocation book showing a list of graduates and ranks by courses. But no need for that. And also need to alter his grade. It is childish. The point he is a graduate and whether one has first-class or pass does not determine how successful one will be in life. It was even by God's Grace he graduated. He spent more time outside the school doing business. |

Politics › Tinubu Appoints Yahaya Bello National Youth Coordinator Campaign Council by tinsel(op): 7:02pm On Sep 18, 2022 |
By Olasunkanmi Akoni Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has been appointed as the National Youth Coordinator of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council. The appointment was conveyed in a letter addressed to Bello, signed by the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu. Tinubu, in the letter, stressed that Bello, who was an aspirant in the party’s presidential primaries, held in May 2022, deserved the appointment, owing to his impressive political achievements and the exemplary leadership he had demonstrated as governor of his state and as a party member. The former governor of Lagos State, Tinubu, added that he was confident that the Kogi Governor would do his best in the new responsibility given him so that the party could run an effective, message-driven campaign, which would lead to victory in the 2023 Presidential election. Recall that multitudes of youths and women across the six geo-political zones of Nigeria, had, during the build-up to the APC presidential primary election, demonstrated their strong support for the Kogi Governor, owing to his youth- and women-friendly policies. Party members and analysts have described this appointment as a big boost for the campaign, considering the important place of youths in the 2023 elections and the impressive youth-targeted campaigns Bello conducted before the primary election. The letter, titled, “Appointment as National Youth Coordinator for Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council,” read in part: “By way of this letter, we are pleased to formally convey your appointment as National Youth Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council. “This appointment is fitting and appropriate, given your impressive political achievements and the exemplary leadership you have demonstrated as governor of your state and as a party member. “We are grateful that you have joined our campaign team. We know you will do your utmost in this new responsibility so we conduct an effective, message -driven campaign leading us to victory in the 2023 Presidential election. “Together, not only can we ensure victory for our party in the February 2023 election but we shall also move Nigeria along the path of national greatness by building on the achievements of our party and the President Muhammadu Buhari administration in providing progressive good governance to Nigerians. We wish you God’s speed and guidance. “Congratulations. Please, accept the assurances of our highest respect and regards always.” In his acceptance letter, Bello pledged to deploy all in his capacity, working alongside the Presidential candidate, to ensure victory for APC. “Your Excellency is one great Nigerian I know, who not only exemplifies but abundantly demonstrates, through transformational leadership and good governance, my own aspirations for a Nigeria that is Secure, United and Prosperous,” he stated. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/09/tinubu-appoints-yahaya-bello-national-youth-coordinator-campaign-council/ |

Politics › 10 Days To Campaigns Flag-Off: APC Governors, Ministers Lobby Tinubu by tinsel(op): 2:20pm On Sep 18, 2022 |
Barely 10 days to the commencement of campaigns by political parties fielding presidential and National Assembly candidates in next year’s general elections, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is yet to unveil the full complement of its Presidential Campaign Council.
There had been speculations that the party was playing a waiting game with the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but the latter had, last week, announced its Campaign Council.
Sunday Vanguard checks revealed that high-level internal contestations and horse-trading might have delayed the APC and its standard bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, from concluding on the issue.
It was gathered that some stakeholders, including serving and ex-ministers as well as some members of the National Working Committee (NWC), have floated individual support groups for Tinubu.
In the NWC alone, the Woman Leader is coordinating several women groups, same for the Youth Leader. You have the Minister of State, FCT, Dr Ramatu Tijani Aliyu, who also coordinates a group. Then you have a former minister, Adebayo Shittu, with his own group. When you go across the states, you have some governors and other stakeholders setting up groups,”a party source told Sunday Vanguard at the weekend..
“At the end of the day, all these groups would be subsumed under the Campaign Council but you will need to create roles for their leaders. You need to give them such recognition”.
Another source said the party and Tinubu were being very careful about geographical and religious balancing, hence the slight delay in coming up with a full list of members of the Council.
Meanwhile, sources said some of the former APC presidential aspirants, who come from states where governorship primary elections have not been conducted, were negotiating to be given free hands to pick the governorship candidates of the party in their respective states while others allegedly wanted assurances that they would have a hand in recommending people for critical appointments should Tinubu become President.
There are, however, concerns about a possible battle of wits among some stakeholders. In Kogi, for instance, there is a subtle battle for supremacy between supporters of Governor, Yahaya Bello and leader of the Tinubu Support Group and federal lawmaker, Hon. James Faleke.
Both men fought to become governor of the state in 2015 after the sudden death of the APC governorship candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Audu, who was already coasting home to victory in that year’s state election. While Faleke was Audu’s running mate, Bello was a distant first runner-up in the primary election that produced Audu as an APC candidate. In Enugu, one of those who contested for the APC presidential ticket with Tinubu, former Senate President Ken Nnamani, who leads critical leases of the party in the zone, is not having it rosy with the state Chairman of the party and also the governorship candidate. Although party spokesman, Felix Morka, did not return calls or reply to messages seeking clarifications on the delay in unveiling a full complement of the council, the Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN), said there was no cause for alarm. Keyamo, who is the Director, Media and Public Affairs and Official Spokesperson of the Council, told Sunday Vanguard that the party still has time to finalize work on the composition of the Council.
“There are no issues as I understand it. The party’s leadership and the candidate are just making wide consultations and we still have a good number of days to go”, he stated. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/09/10-days-to-campaigns-flag-off-intrigues-as-apc-govs-ministers-others-lobby-tinubu-for-role/
