Nah. The movie took the realistic approach to life. It's not a matter of who deserves it more, rather, it's a matter of how resourceful you can be if/when life throws you a lemonade.. The dude had his chance to get away, but came back for the girl, and never made it out alive again. He blew it. Life threw him a lemonade, but he didn't know what to do with it.

Bottom line, it's a solid survival-themed horror movie. There are plot holes, but they're few and far between. Deserves more than the 6.5 you gave it. Should be 7.5.
