How can the Hausa-Fulani succeed in subduing and dominating the large and capable Yoruba or Igbo – not to talk of all the nationalities of Nigeria? Talking about domination and trying to achieve it has only bred hostility, crookedness, and instability in our country.

Recently, the elder statesman, Alhaji Maitama Sule, lamented that the people of the Arewa North are suffering serious discrimination today in Nigeria, and leaders of the Arewa Youth went out protesting about the same thing – and Yoruba people are crying out about the same too. Is it not absurd that we have created a system that makes it possible for such major segments of Nigeria as Arewa North and the Yoruba Southwest to be marginalized and discriminated against by anybody controlling the FG? How can our self-respecting nationalities love to continue to belong to a country that is disrespectful and mismanaged like that?
The FG’s obstruction to development is hurting all parts of our country. For instance, our Northern Region saw a great deal of development and progress under the Regional leadership of the late Sir Ahmadu Belo.

Following a recent string of bombings in Nigeria's northeast, security operatives today say that they have arrested a girl in Kano State with explosives attached to her body.







Suicide bomber arrested in Kano State




The girl, Zahra'u Babban Gida, claims she was abducted from Bauchi State. The girl, whose age has not been disclosed, alleges that she was unconscious until today, when she was released by her kidnappers and strapped to an explosive vest.

Babban Gida was arrested opposite Kantin-Kwari textile market, the scene of a major explosion two weeks ago, in which two female suicide bombers detonated explosives, killing many.

Kano State Commissioner of Police Alhaji Tashid Aderile Shinaba says officers arrested the girl based on suspicion of her movements. She was later taken to headquarters for investigation, where the police were joined by operatives of the State Security Service.

State Security Service Director Bassey Etan assured Kano State residents to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

Hong Kong crash sparks money grab
People left their cars to scramble for cash on a busy road in Hong Kong



Hong Kong police have appealed to the public to return millions of dollars taken after a van transporting HK$525m ($68m; £44m) crashed on a major road.

About HK$35m ($4.5m; £3m) worth of banknotes were left strewn across the tarmac after the road accident.

Witnesses said dozens of people rushed to pocket the cash before armed police arrived to secure the area.

Some HK$20m was retrieved and police warned that failure to return the rest would be "a very serious crime".

The incident happened at lunchtime on one of Hong Kong's busiest roads in the Wan Chai district on Hong Kong Island, causing major disruption as people abandoned their cars to collect the notes.

One witness told the South China Morning Post that she saw a "regular looking Hong Kong lady" take at least 10 bundles before leaving the scene.

"She had an armful of bricks of cash - it was as much as she could carry. She just disappeared into the depths of Wan Chai," the witness said.

Speaking shortly afterwards, police superintendent Wan Siu-hong called on those who had picked up any money to hand it over to police as soon as possible.

"If he or she keeps the money for [their] own use, [they] may commit an offence of theft which is a very serious crime under ordinance," he told reporters.

He said police had launched an inquiry into the cause of the accident, adding that they "cannot rule out any possibilities at this moment".
