Brother, can I have your email address please?

meritdee:
Hi pals,

This information is for those planning to change status from F1 to GC after or during their study.

* Yes, marriage works but don't do it because of paper. You don't want anyone to make you feel indebted to them for the rest of your life. And most importantly, avoid marriage fraud.

* If you're confident in finding a company to file H1B for you and certain about job security. Go for it!

* The third is a route that many Nigerians with highly sought-after skills aren't taking advantage of. This is the self-petition Employment-Based (2nd preference) National Interest Waiver (EB2-NIW). With an advanced degree (Masters), verifiable work experience (references), the ability to research and spot an area where your skill would add value to the US economy (find a problem and propose a solution), then 10 years GC could be yours. Being an author of published research article(s) in your area of interest is an added advantage but not required.

The additional criteria(critical), which the petitioner would write in the form of a justification letter, are listed below. (AKA, the three prongs)
* The proposed endeavor must have both substantial merit and national(US) importance.
* You are well-positioned to advance the proposed endeavor. (You have the skills required)
* It would be beneficial to the United States to waive the requirements of a job offer and thus the labor certification.

Your problem definition and proposed solution = the Proposed Endeavor

More information can be found here ---> https://www.uscis.gov/working-in-the-united-states/permanent-workers/employment-based-immigration-second-preference-eb-2

I may have to write and share a detailed process with samples via a dropbox link later. However, anyone who is interested in the third option can find detailed processes and samples online with little research.

I wish everyone success.

Harvard University
Stanford University
MIT
Princeton University

I'm just messing with you. Use Google, apply to schools based on your profile and research interest...

Why is everyone fighting today on this trend? I see fairheart & TWoods own and now you and this other guy.

Remember, we disagree to agree sometimes. I'm not taking sides, I don't see any wrong in fairheart trying to help someone settle down. Remember, the ISO or graduate coordinator can't be available every time especially when the person's flight arrives at midnight. However, TWoods is right, there are thousands of resources available to new students to help them settle by the school, we should encourage people to use them first and they can look for backup ( which was what fairheart was trying to do).

Guys, let have a drink together someday or in the future.

Just curious to know if your appointment is still as rescheduled or?

Omoxrist:

It’s still visible after 3 days of getting the mail and it’s still scheduled. I booked B1/B2… not F visa

You are allowed to have $10k and any more than this must be declared.

You can use your Nigerian sim for WhatsApp in the US if it is MTN. The call might not be possible but text messages will keep entering the phone. I don't know of other networks.

Hemstone:
Please how best can I access my funds in the USA?
1. Domiciliary account with dollar card (which banker are the best considering services and daily limit)
2. Is their others means apart from the dollar card?
3. How much cash can I carry on me while traveling that won't be an issue at the airport or port of entry?

Also, how do I use my Nigerian sim card number for WhatsApp abroad?

Thanks a lot

I think the answer is NO!

Thecvbankng:
Please I'd like to confirm if one can use IELTS (general training type) to apply for academic programs. Do majority of institutions (US) insist on the academic IELTS or the general training type can suffice.

Thank you

That was from personal experience. You might wake up one day to check your appointment or go to the appointment and you will be told it has been canceled.

In some minutes, the appointment will no longer be visible on your profile. Just reshcedule your appointment right away...

Omoxrist:
Hello Everyone,

I got a mail two days ago stating that the B1/B2 visa appointment has been canceled; but on checking my account with CGI online account, I realized the appointment was still showing scheduled on my dashboard, even till the time I'm typing this, the appointment is still very active and scheduled.
Has anyone gotten a similar email but still seeing "scheduled" online? Should I cancel the former appointment myself and reschedule or just go for the interview as scheduled?

Just curious to know why you didn't renew your passport in the US and apply for US visa in Mexico or Canada?

Queenneomakanu:
Hello everyone! Congratulations to all who have been awarded visas and for we intending ones!
My question please:
I am a 3rd year PhD student currently in naija to renew my passport with my family. Please does family size affect visa approval? We are a family of six. Also, any transcripts from F1 students who applied with their families would be very highly appreciated. Thank you! @Fairheart thanks for all you do!
Thanks in advance for all the responses!

I have searched the internet but I wasn't getting enough info. Please help a sister out if you are currently doing nursing or about to. Thanks in advance!
