President Tinubu today remains the most successful politician in Nigeria, regardless of whatever metrics anyone chooses to use. That kind of success is not an accident. It is a lifetime of strategy, structure, timing, and the discipline to think beyond the next election.

Tinubu has little left to prove in the ordinary sense. He has power, he has means, and he has reached the final peak that Nigerian politicians spend their whole lives chasing. At this point, the presidency is no longer about survival for him. It is about legacy, and it is about how history will describe the choices he made when he had the full authority to make them.

Governor Ademola Adeleke sits in his own humble yet similar space, respectfully limited to Osun State. Adeleke is blessed, and he comes from a blessed family. If he were not Governor of Osun State, his life would not become miserable. He would not lack comfort. He would not become invisible. That matters because it changes the psychology of leadership. That, more than the noise of daily politics, is what often separates the leader who wants to build from the leader who only wants to hold. It is about service, legacy and passion for Adeleke.

Providence placed Tinubu and Adeleke in different political parties, yet their relationship has often appeared calm, gracious, and practical. It is the kind of relationship that does not need daily loud announcements to prove that it exists. There is a maturity that comes when two politicians are secure in themselves. When two leaders are secure, cooperation becomes easier. That is why the idea that there is some deep conflict between President Tinubu and Governor Adeleke has always sounded more like gossip than reality. Even where interests differ, the tone has not been poisonous.

It is also easy to see why a functional relationship would exist. Tinubu is governing Nigeria, and Osun is part of Nigeria. Adeleke is governing Osun, and the federal government remains the biggest lever of opportunity for any state government, whether people admit it publicly or not. The mature approach is to cooperate where cooperation benefits the people, and to compete only where competition is unavoidable. That is what leadership looks like when it is not driven by insecurity.

At the emergence of President Tinubu, Governor Ademola Adeleke was one of the few governors who mobilised support for the President’s preferred candidates for Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, at a time when many governors were still calculating their distance from the new centre. He did not join the silent sabotage or the cautious indifference that often greets such contests. He rallied the Osun caucus in the National Assembly and mobilised support for the President’s leadership choices in both chambers. The President had to commend and appreciate Governor Adeleke. He also, without being asked, mobilised the same caucus to give massive support for Oyetola’s nomination as a minister, unsolicited.

In a system where the battle for principal officers can become the first real test of presidential authority, that kind of support is not a small gesture. It is loyalty without noise, cooperation without condition, and politics played with the understanding that stability at the centre can translate into opportunity for the state. This is who Adeleke is, a man with a heart of love.

Yet the problem with politics is that every sweet relationship attracts bitter spectators. The more a governor appears comfortable with a president, the more some people around the president begin to fear displacement. The more a governor appears welcomed at the centre, the more some actors within the centre begin to worry about who will become irrelevant if that welcome becomes permanent. That is how internal politics works. It is not always about ideology. It is often about who will be the recognised pillar, who will be ignored, and who will lose control of the local structure that gives them oxygen.

This is where Wike and Oyetola become important characters in this story, not necessarily as villains, but as examples of a similar temperament. Both men are ministers in Tinubu’s government. Both men carry political histories that still pull at them like unfinished business. Unfinished business has a way of turning public service into personal struggle.

Wike is the kind of politician who does not merely disagree, he confronts. He does not merely compete, he seeks dominance. He is a man of energy and nerve, and even his critics admit that he can mobilise. He is also a man who often makes every environment feel like a battlefield. As Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, he holds one of the loudest offices in the country. The danger with that kind of temperament is not that it lacks ability. The danger is that it tends to interpret every disagreement as a war, and when politics becomes permanent war, peace starts to look like weakness.

Oyetola operates in a different way, quieter, less theatrical, and less crude in public posture, yet he is a weaker, “China” version of Wike. He has a permanent interest in the Osun governorship seat. The truth is that Osun politics is not kind to politicians who have been rejected at the ballot and then appear determined to return through a proxy, as though the voters never spoke. Whatever anyone thinks about the last Osun transition, the memory is there. In politics, memory is power. A politician can be respected in Abuja and still struggle to be loved at home. Oyetola can hold federal office and still face the reality that Osun voters have moved on emotionally.

This is why the idea of Adeleke joining the APC became a battle of survival for Oyetola. On paper, it would look like a strategic merger of state popularity and federal alignment, and it would come with a development argument that is easy to sell. President Tinubu would have welcomed Adeleke into the APC gracefully. Still, it would have raised the one question that nobody can avoid in Osun. Who leads the house. Politics is ultimately about where authority sits.

If Adeleke had crossed over and become the leader of the party in Osun, it would have shifted the internal balance of the APC in a way some people would experience as humiliation. The resistance would not be philosophical. It would be territorial. It would be about who becomes irrelevant. That is the kind of politics that produces bitterness in private and sabotage in public. For Oyetola, the APC would rather lose Osun State than allow him to share his authority or lose control of the party structure.

Omisore exposed that Oyetola called for rescue when he heard Governor Ademola Adeleke was in talks with the Presidency. Oyetola wants to remain the absolute leader in Osun State, and for him, peace, harmony, and progress become secondary. This is cantankerous, like a small Wike. The difference is that Wike comes with capacity, while Oyetola does not.

What often ruins politics is not ambition. Ambition is normal. The ruinous spirit is bitterness, and the refusal to accept that the world can move forward without you being the central character. Osun people still remember how they voted him out, and in Osun, political memory does not dissolve simply because Abuja has provided a new seat.

What should be appreciated is that Adeleke appears to have listened to the mood at home. The voters of Osun are not children. They have their own pride and their own boundaries. They can support a president and still insist that their governor must remain their governor. That is why any movement that creates the impression of being forced, or being negotiated without the people, will always carry a cost.

So when people try to sell the story of the next Osun State election as Tinubu versus Adeleke, they are missing the real issue. The real issue is not hostility between the president and the governor. They are both fine. The real issue is the discomfort of those who fear what a stronger relationship between them would mean for local power calculations. The two of them can cooperate for development without turning Osun into a hostage of internal party egos.

The quiet strength of Tinubu and Adeleke is that neither of them needs permanent war to feel important. If Nigeria is to improve and Osun is to deepen its progress, the country needs more of that temper, less noise, less bitterness, and more leaders who can cooperate without insecurity, and compete without hatred. That is the real politics beneath the headlines, and it is the politics that will matter when history writes its summary.

Pastor Chris Okafor Surrenders to Police Over Alleged Sexual Assault Claims

Pastor Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, has surrendered to the police following multiple r@pe allegations and other offenses that could disturb public peace, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed. The case has been transferred to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Sylvester Alabi, for further investigation.

Okafor reportedly failed to honour a police invitation on Monday, despite being invited the previous day by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti. Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, stated that after Okafor missed the Monday appointment, he ordered his arrest. Okafor eventually presented himself to authorities on Tuesday.

CP Jimoh explained that the matter had already been under investigation at Zone 2 for approximately three weeks, and as the AIG oversees the zone, the case was handed back to his command. He added that complaints from alleged victims on social media prompted swift action, as ignoring them could compromise law and order.

The controversy began in December 2025 when several allegations emerged online, including claims by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala that Okafor engaged in a long-term s+xual relationship since 2017, broke promises of marriage, shared explicit content, and affected her previous marriage. Following the public outcry, Okafor reportedly apologised to his congregation on December 28, 2025, kneeling at the pulpit to seek forgiveness.

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria is reportedly considering disciplinary action, while Okafor has stepped aside from his pastoral duties. The Lagos State Police Command assured that security for the alleged victims is in place, and investigations at SCID, Panti, and Zone 2 continue.

Okafor’s surrender comes as a direct response to the police’s arrest order and growing public pressure over the allegations.

The statement has since triggered widespread reactions on social media, with Nigerians expressing divergent views on the former leader’s hardline stance. In a statement released on Saturday and signed by its Executive Director, Comrade Taiwo Omoniyi Otitolaye, ATI said the appointment represents a monumental setback for governance and sends a dangerous signal that allegations of corruption, illegal mining, and terrorism sponsorship no longer matter in Nigeria’s corridors of power.

ATI accused President Tinubu of providing what it termed presidential cover for Yahaya Bello, whom it described as facing serious allegations that should disqualify him from any public or party role.

“With this appointment, Tinubu has effectively provided presidential cover for an alleged terrorist sponsor and backing for Bello's illegal mining activities. ATI views this move as a proactive demonstration to the international community that Tinubu's government has 100% tolerance for corruption, illegal mining, and terrorism,” the statement said.

The group warned that the decision undermines public trust and further erodes Nigeria’s already battered international image.

ATI listed what it called Bello’s “dirty record,” noting that the former governor is currently facing trial over the alleged diversion of more than ₦80 billion in Kogi State funds during his eight years in office.

The organisation also referenced allegations of political violence during Bello’s tenure, including the killing of opposition figures, and pointed to his alleged links with controversial cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, whose engagements with armed groups have sparked national outrage in the past.

"He is known to have sponsored political killings as a sitting governor, including the brutal murder of a People's Democratic Party (PDP) women leader who was set ablaze and burnt to death in her home.

"Bello's connections to Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a known ally of terrorists in Nigeria, are a matter of public record."

ATI said Bello’s appointment raises troubling questions about President Tinubu’s priorities and moral compass.

According to the group, "Is Bello the type of character Tinubu prefers in a reconciliation committee?

"Is he telling the international community that corruption, illegal mining, and terrorism allegations are irrelevant? Must Tinubu sacrifice integrity for his 2027 presidential ambition?

"The people of Kogi State, who suffered under Bello's brutal rule, are watching Tinubu's dangerous dance steps with trepidation."

According to ATI, the people of Kogi State, who endured what it described as a brutal and despotic administration, are watching the development with fear and anger.

The anti-corruption group further argued that appointing Bello to a sensitive party committee undermines the work of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“How can the President of Nigeria appoint a corrupt fugitive, accused of stealing N80 billion, to a reconciliation committee?, ” ATI asked, describing the move as “a gangrenous sore” on Nigeria’s anti-corruption efforts.

ATI also linked the security challenges and illegal mining activities in parts of Kogi State to alleged alliances involving Bello, referencing Sheikh Gumi’s 2021 visit to Kogi West Senatorial Districts, where he publicly praised the former governor.

According to ATI, that visit foreshadowed an influx of armed groups and illegal miners into the area, worsening insecurity and economic exploitation.

"Gumi's visit to Kogi West Senatorial Districts in 2021, where he praised Bello, was a harbinger of the terrorism and illegal mining that has ravaged the area. ATI links Gumi's visit to Bello's plan for illegal gold mining and the influx of terrorists fleeing military attacks in the North West."

ATI called for the immediate removal of Yahaya Bello from the APC reconciliation committee and urged law enforcement agencies to pursue all allegations against him without political interference.

“Nigeria deserves better than leaders who place power above principle and impunity above justice,” the group added.

Wike-led PDP Faction Appoints Caretaker Committee for Oyo State

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Barrister Nyesom Wike has appointed a 17-member Caretaker Committee for Oyo State, effective December 24, 2025.

Professor Abdulrahman Akinoso has been named Chairman, while Dr. Biola Olanipekun serves as Secretary.

The committee's primary responsibility is to oversee the party's affairs in Oyo State for a period not exceeding 30 days, as stipulated in Section 21(2) (a-b) of the party's constitution.

Members of the committee include Hon. Ali Hammed Okesola, Hon. Kabiru Adesokan, and Comrade Akinloye Oyeniyi, among others.

In a statement, National Organising Secretary Hon. Umar M. Bature congratulated the appointed members and charged them with the task of ensuring the party's smooth operation in Oyo State.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has ordered the prosecution of popular TikTok streamer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, following a road traffic crash linked to distracted driving.

The Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, raised concerns over what he described as a growing trend of reckless road use among celebrities, content creators and social media influencers, warning that such behaviour endangers lives and weakens national road safety efforts.

The directive followed a widely circulated video showing Peller engaging in a live video stream while driving, an act that reportedly resulted in a crash.

In a statement signed by the corps spokesperson, Olusegun Ogungbemide, Mohammed described the incident as unlawful and dangerous, noting that it could have led to loss of lives.

He said the incident “serves as a grim reminder that fame does not confer immunity from the law, nor does it excuse dangerous behaviour on public roads.”

Mohammed stated that “live streaming, content creation, recording or engaging in any activity that distracts a driver while driving is a direct violation of established road traffic regulations and poses grave danger not only to the driver but to other innocent road users.”

He added that such actions undermine efforts aimed at reducing road traffic crashes and fatalities across the country.

Consequently, the corps marshal directed the Lagos State Sector Commander of the FRSC to commence prosecution against the individual involved.

According to him, the charges would include “reckless driving, use of phone while driving, and distracted driving, in accordance with extant traffic laws.”

Mohammed also called on professional bodies within the entertainment industry to take responsibility for the conduct of their members.

He urged actors’ guilds, entertainment associations, influencer networks and content creator communities to rein in their members and promote responsible behaviour on Nigerian roads.

Noting the influence celebrities wield, especially among young Nigerians, he warned that they “must be seen as ambassadors of safety, not symbols of recklessness.”

Issuing a warning on enforcement, Mohammed said the FRSC “will not hesitate to apply the full weight of the law against any individual, celebrity or otherwise, found engaging in distracted or reckless driving.”

He stressed that “no social media content, online trend or momentary clout is worth a human life.”

He further reminded motorists that “public roads are not studios, stages or streaming platforms,” describing them as shared spaces governed by laws designed to preserve lives.

Mohammed encouraged Nigerians to report dangerous driving behaviours and support collective efforts to make roads safer.

The FRSC reaffirmed its commitment to safer highways, stating that road safety remains a shared responsibility requiring discipline, restraint and respect for the law by all road users, without exception.

The governor stated, “I joined the Accord Party more than a month ago precisely November 6th as a platform to seek re-election in 2026. This was after weeks of consultation and deliberations with stakeholders and opinion leaders."

Adeleke said the decision was driven by the need to sustain the reforms and service delivery already acknowledged locally and internationally.

“Stakeholders and residents of Osun state are aware of why we are taking this important decision. He described Accord as a natural home for his government’s people-focused agenda and commended the party’s philosophy.

“Since I joined the party more than a month ago, I have been fascinated by the philosophy of this great party. The focus on people's welfare should always be at the heart of public leadership. The primary essence of a government is the welfare and well-being of the people," he said.

Declaring his new political allegiance, he said: “In accordance with the will of our stakeholders and to accord deep respect for the wishes of Osun people, I hereby accordingly declare for the Accord Party”.

King Wasiu has officially entered the race to become the next Awujale of Ijebu Land.

King Wasiu Ayinde Declares Interest in Awujale Throne

Music Czar, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has formally declared interest in the vacant throne of the Awujale of Ijebuland.

Wasiu made this is known in a letter of intent written to the Chairman of the Funsengbuwa Ruling House.

As contained in the letter dated 3rd of December, the fuji icon notified the ruling house of his intention to be considered for the vacant stool as he declared himself a bonafide son of the ruling house, tracing his ancestry to the Oba Jadiara lineage.

He held over the course of five decades committed himself to the promotion of Ijebu and Yoruba culture through his music.

K1 also highlighted his other accomplishments and title, including his installaton as Mayegun of Yorubaland and the national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON).

The letter read;

“I, Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Adewale Olasunkanmi Omogbolahan Anifowoshe, MON, hereby formally notify the Fusengbuwa Ruling House of my intention to be considered for the vacant stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland, subject strictly to the provisions of Ijebu customary law and the Ogun State Chieftaincy Laws.

“I was born on 3rd March, 1957, and I am a bonafide son of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Agunsebi Quarters, tracing my ancestry to the Oba Jadiara lineage, which qualifies me to present myself for consideration in accordance with established tradition.

“I have devoted over five decades to the promotion of Ijebu, Yoruba, and Nigerian culture through music and cultural enterprise.

“In the course of my service, I have received various traditional and national honours, including my installation as Mayegun of Yorubaland (2020).

“The national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger – MON (2022).

“I was conferred as Olori Omo-Oba and Otunba Afidipotemole of Akile ljebu (2023) by the late Awujale.”

Wasiu Ayinde’s declaration of interest in the throne is coming five months after the demise of Oba Sikiru Adetona.

BREAKING: FCT Administration Under Minister Wike Restates Ban On Smart Phones, Says Only 'Torch Light Phones' Allowed During Work Hours

The directive, contained in a circular with reference number FCT/DLA/259/III dated 28th November 2025, was addressed to all Heads of Division, Sections, Units, and staff of the Department of Land Administration and the Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS).

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has issued a new directive prohibiting the use of smartphones and other smart devices by staff members on Grade Level 14 and below within office premises during working hours, SaharaReporters has learnt.

The directive, contained in a circular with reference number FCT/DLA/259/III dated 28th November 2025, was addressed to all Heads of Division, Sections, Units, and staff of the Department of Land Administration and the Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS).

Signed by Amaka Ezike, Assistant Director (Administration), on behalf of the Acting Director of Administration, the circular announces full enforcement of the ban beginning Monday, December 1, 2025.

According to the document obtained by SaharaReporters, the restriction covers smartphones, smartwatches, and all internet-enabled gadgets, which staff will no longer be allowed to use or possess within office premises during working hours.

"To implement the directive, management has provided secure storage cabinets where affected officers are expected to deposit their devices upon arrival. These gadgets will only be accessible during official break periods," the circular stated.

The memo also recalls the staff general meeting of November 18, 2025, where workers reportedly agreed that only basic ‘torchlight’ phones without internet capability would be permitted for essential communication during office hours.

Management staff have been directed to enforce the policy among their subordinates and ensure strict compliance.

The statement read, "I am directed to inform all Staff of the Department of Land Administration and Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS) on Grade Level 14 and below that Enforcement of No-Use of Smart Phones, Smart Watches, Smart Gadgets etc, within Office premises during working hours will commence on Monday, 1st December, 2025.

"However, there are provisions for secured cabinets where Officers could drop their smart phones and other gadgets for safe keeping and could only be accessed during their break time.

"In view of the foregoing, all affected Staff are hereby reminded of our collective resolution during the Staff general meeting held on Thursday, 18th November, 2025 that only torch light phones without any internet facilities will be allowed for the purpose of useful communication during office hours.

"Affected Officers are hereby advised to comply strictly with this directive for any violation will attract appropriate disciplinary action.

"Management Staff are enjoined to bring the content of this circular to their subordinates and ensure strict compliance," Ezike added.

Sahara Reporters had in the first week of November reported that Wike ordered a sweeping ban on the use of mobile phones by staff of the Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS) and the Department of Land Administration.

The controversial directive, contained in an internal memo sighted by SaharaReporters, targets all officers on Salary Grade Level 14 and below, forbidding them from entering office premises with their mobile phones beginning Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

The memo was issued by the Head of AGIS, Chijioke Nwankwoeze.
