londoner: Obama was heavy handed in putting Nigeria on the list in the first place. How many of the other countries on the list would be there on th e back ofjust one citizen, trained and indoctrinated AWAY from their country had attempted to bomb a US plane?
The standards are certainly different when it comes to Nigeria. Obama does this in discrimination of a country which is as much Christian as it is Muslim. We do have a religious faction issue in Nigeria, but it has always been directed inward. Obama was far too eager to label us as a nation of over 140 million on the back of the actions of a singular person. When a Ghanaian was involved in the failed 7/7 bombing in london, did the UK put Ghana as a country on such a list? Would it not have seemed heavy handed if they had?
They should not forget that it was a Nigerian Muslim who also tried to warn them so that this would never have happened in the first place, doesn't that count at all? They are discouraging people from coming forward if all that ensues is a punishment.
He may be the president of the USA, but I think this was a bad decision. Just like his predecessor started a war based on fiction. I think he just wants an excuse to move away from nigeria for oil and replace her with other countries. As for the ultimatum, its vjust foolish, what can they do about it? MINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!agathamari: has anyone actualy read the article in question cause by the resopnces here im gonna say no
The State Department lists four countries as those that sponsor terror: Cuba, Sudan, Syria and Iran. (these are the terrorist countries)
The other 10 countries of interest are Afghanistan, Algeria, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia and Yemen (these countries do not support terrorism but the state department has concerns about the Al-Qaeda affiliates operating whithin said countries. nigeria has an al-qaeda cell as well as a "taliban" cell. get rid of these people and get off the list. very simple)
Passengers from other countries could still face enhanced security for other reasons.
http://www.cnn.com/2010/TRAVEL/01/03/tsa.measures/index.html where is the f'cking cell lemme mobilise for them bombing taliban in Nigeria? i hope not in Lagos |

Secretz: If USA have really labelled us a terrorist state, I think that's a bit far fetched, but I think they have every right to have concerns over our security measures or lack of. maybe our President should come up with a list too with USA included we should label them axis of evil and unfriendly states and warn our citizens to stop patronising these states as we wouldnt be able to guarantee their safety if anythn happens to them i trust the BBC and CNN to propagate that kinda measure to the extent it will get the right audience in the US if that doesnt work, then whatever they subject our citizens to will be meted out to them here in good measure, pressed down and shaken together |

The key here is BEFORE interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (ITDA). After you pay what you owe, you have NOTHING left and are actually owing MORE than you started with.
Utd makes more earnings but it's earnings cannot currently meet it's interest obligations, while Arsenal more than meets it's interest obligations and is actually reducing it's debt.
If I make 20m EBITDA but have ITDA of 30m, it is worse than making 10m EBITDA and having ITDA of 5m, because I have a net profit after all is said and done. so does anyone has any info on the 2 clubs PBT? lets leave EBITDA for PBT since that can lead to some ambiguity? and besides i tot i saw something like UTDs EBITDA to be around 240m? is that correct? if thats correct, then how can and EBITDA of 245m be insufficient for ITDA of less than 100m things dont tie up here, i need figures ooo |

United have not made any loss since The Glazers took over in 2005. Stop fibbing, there's a big difference between RFJV and Man Utd. RFJV was set up when the Glazers took over. It's income balance from the start was £800 million(debt). cool do u have anythin on that? |

otawa: There is no basis whatsoever for USA to include Nigeria in any list.
On this one, Mr Obama and his cronies got it very very wrong.
After 7days, we should use exact same measures on any AMERICANS visiting Nigeria.
The Nigerians going to USA if you dont like being 'unclothed-search, stay at home and develop your country. gbam!! u wanna visit Nigeria? let them lie face down while the mopol search them hehehehehe vagabonds agathamari: you have got to be kidding me, they still think this has only to do with the plane incident and not all the other crap that is going on? out of all the countries on the list less then 1/4 have been involved in acts of terrorism onboard planes or other forms of international transportation. nigeria isnt even listed as a terrorist country, it is a country of intrest. so is cuba, when was the last time they were viewed as terrorist? 1960? for crying out loud what is this ultimatum? after 7 days what is the government going to do? whine some more? act like adults, speak to the us government and find out exactly why they are placed on the list and see what can be done to change the issue. whining is not going to help nigerias image, it is only going to make it worse. the government has to stand up and take responsibility for the countries issues (the militants in the south, the religious fighting in the north, the tribal conflicts, the al-qaeda/taliban wannabes, the kidnappings, the corruption, the drug trafficing, the 419 issues) untill things change the way the world views nigeria wont change. havent the politicians ever heard the story of the boy who cried wolf. nigeria is crying wolf and noone cares to hear it anymore. it is only a matter of time before the wolf (coruption/greed/bigotry) devowers the country. what has that got to do with 9ja being an axis of evil? i tot there are countries who are not on that list whose macro economic problems are more than greater than 9jas wht has 419ing got to do with being labelled a terror zone? cos a one foiled attempt by one mofo its better to cry wolf sometimes than act like a zombie/asslicker. |

The holding company owes the debt, but that debt (£514m) is secured against Carrington, OT, players, commercial contracts and so on. So in that sense, Utd holds the debt willy nilly. did you see the indicative term sheet? ill try to read sha The structure is simple - the 'senior' debt of 500m+ is owed to banks at 2-5%, the rest to hedge funds at 14.25%. The holding company is unable to make all the interest payments and thus rolls part of the interest into principal, which then gets charged a higher interest rate of 14% thus balooning the debt lets see if sauron has materials for me to read; then we can ascertain the debt/value ration hes talked about like u said an enterprise value of 1.8 billion with debt/mez of 650 million looks less favourable to arsenals 1.2billion valuation and 300m debt make i read first b4 una misinform us for here o |

asha 80: After ultimatum what next? This is a time to use our heads rather than being unneccesarily emotional about it.Has nigeria developed itself to the extent that it can withstand bans? You trust asians?Have you dealt with them before? If you want nigeria to become north korea be my guest. what have u said? time to use our head by sucking up? hehehehehe thats a solid way to use our heads abi? ure right on target! what bans are you talking about? so when you decide to severe ties as a result of a diplomatic logjam, u get banned? interesting! lemme break it down- Nigeria, Nigerians should reject in its total entirety an attempt at blacklisting us is that clear now? it has got nothing to do with our leaders or the perception about us its about me and you and if they insist we are an axis of evil, then since evil and light cannot walk in unison, we can part ways and encourage ties with those knocking on our doors thats my point in simple english are we clear; ill be glad if u can throw more light on how to use our heads like you mentioned debosky: When there is no president what do you expect?
If a president was on the ground to give firm assurances that this was a one off and to actually deal on the same level with the US president this wouldn't have happened. The patently weak leadership offered by the country has led to this action by the US.
Mark can scream himself hoarse - Obama would be facing an almighty climb down if he took Nigeria off the list after this and the US press would savage him so there's no chance of this happening. valid point we have no President and its a shame debosky: This pointless ultimatum will do nothing - it does not come from the head of state and is simply a man seeking relevance in the absence of the real leader of the country.
The so called leaders do not even have the guts to cut off ties with the US, so don't expect that to happen.
The only sensible thing to do is to subject flights from the US to similar screening in Nigeria. That is what Brazil did when the US insisted on fingerprinting all flights from Brazil - it did the same thing to all US visitors. |

debosky: Spambot - i'll get it reported.
to summarize - Arsenal's holding company are making a profit - i.e paying off it's loans as and when due with something left over. Utd's holding company are making a loss.
A bond is still a debt, regardless of who owes it.
Furthermore, I have every reason to doubt the debt to value ratio of forbes - If Utd is worth $1.8bn and owes £650m, and Arsenal is worth $1.2bn and owes ~£300m (debt of ~£400m and cash reserves of ~£100m) then that Forbes ratio is definitely faulty somewhere or massively outdated.
Utd makes more revenue - there is no doubt about that, and the income before taxes and interest and co is still greater, BUT once you take out taxes and the massive interest payments that Utd need to make, what you end up with is a LOSS. Arsenal on the other hand, after paying all it owes ends up with a PROFIT.
There is no clearer measure than that right there. lets get something straight manchester UTD is worth 1.8billion -yeah who is oweing 650? Manchester United or the holding coy that bought into UTD? if its the holding coy, then it boils down to how the debt is structured structuring is key here and its not usually 2+2=4 i guess ill try to read more about this debt thing and give a more informed and accurate position on this as at now, im just picking on ur arguments to make judgements |

But the repayments and the interest rate won't be as ambiguous as what the Glazers copped in 2005. With JP Morgan Chase or other investment banks - there's light at the end of the tunnel. how? JP Morgan would probably add to ur misery they aint father xmas whatever they do/give is at a cost and wont necesarily reduce the debt. Re-engineering debt doesnt mean ure moving away from your debt but probably prolonging the day of evil assuming all will be well and the evil days will never come ceteris paribus The bond issue being weighed up by the club would help it pay back some of its existing debt to banks, hedge funds and other financial institutions, which are estimated at about £700m. . . . . .This is the FACT!!!! its all re-engineering; UTD would prefer the bonds cos they are cheaper to service but hey, we are still in debt thats the fact!! Forbes n Deloitte. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forbes'_list_of_the_most_valuable_football_clubs Examine that table carefully and tell me United's debt is anywhere near CRISIS. Look at the operating income posted by United in comparison with other useless clubs in the EPL. Level pass level, Debo. Arsenal n United are not on the same level. the premise on which our debt repayment is based is sound. UTD is one of the biggest sporting franchy and i dont expect this money making machine to grind to a halt; but the prevalent economic scenario in europe/UK is the biggest threat UTD need all cash to maintain the present cashflow in the midst of dwindling economic fortunes in the world. Thats the truth of the matter Assets are the KEY. Without your assets, you wouldn't have secured the loans in the first place. Despite United's unprecedented debt, they are still ranked the number 1 club in the world. So much for this debt nonsense. assets are key cashflow is king! all are in our favour; i agree 100% |
