my bad, i assumed it was a one-off thing, from your post i gather its a stage by stage affair right?

all i knw na say dem bin go dubai go write the exam and one failed and had to retake it in ghana or somefink(she passed on the 2nd try), but most of them have been out of school for at most 2yrs, so i'm guessing they'd be at the initial stages, they're all either in investment houses or banks.
ure right
3 stages
dubai, London or Ghana and sometimes Jo'bourg

i know someone who went to cairo tho

Nigeria are already looking at having a society and also thinking of having an exam center in Lagos or Abuja. when the CFA chaps came in August, they met with the  BGL,KPMG, Vetiva, Diamond capital, ARM, Afribank Capital, SEC, CAPE and some other peeps in order to see how we can have our own society and start writing exams here.

Now we have a budding society with about 19-20 charterholders, according to them  b4 we can have a full fledged one, we need between 40-50 charterholders. I think in 3-4 years, we shd achieve this

@tbk

i have my facts right.
Mind you i work in an Inv Bank in one of the countries you call developed countries and i have looked at the profiles of some of the finance guys in top management
None of them has a CFA . about 20% have an MBA and the rest have just good old Bsc but they have many years of experience
Just look around you. Check the profiles of the CEO's of  some of the top companies and lets compare notes.

Yes i am a CFA candidate and my only reason for doing it is to get a fast track introduction to finance i don't intend to be a financial analyst

I understand where you are coming from though CFA gives you a no holds barred introduction to finance but i feel most of the information in there can be learned from experience or in a very good finance book. Having the designation doesn't prove anything other than you have been able to pass some 3 tricky exams
Candy what facts are u talking about? lets share
whats the name of your coy? my coy is rated top 8 in the world tho im in Nigeria.

i agree with u some top dawgs are not into CFA- i met with the MD of Citibank Nigeria and he was like CFA is not his thing. Okumagba, Chuka of Vetiva too are not CFA charterholders. Its like tht in the devloped countries too but my point is CFA isnt about financial statement analysis, but about Finance in its total entirety. Its just like ICAN for accountants. You dont have to have a ICAN fellow to be an accountant do you?
some are trained in the UNi, some got their training through working with some audit companies, and blah blah

its like that in fnance too. but, for those who werent trained in finance from UNI and would like to enter Finance, the only recognized way apart from getting experiential learning working with finance related companies is CFA

with CFA, you have all to rule the world of finance.

the last time i wrote CFA in London, u need to come and see the number of people who came to write. The CFA people could not cope and had logistics problem coordinating the exam. yeah, i mean in the streets of London. (the membership is blowing up and u berra hop on the train grin)

thts ma point
