Politics / Re: Ayoola Babalola Invited By DSS Over Articles On Sowore, Tinubu, APC by TmKonzept: 6:37pm On Dec 31, 2019
etrange:
I want Tinubu to be investigated. I am not a good fan of PMB. However, one would need to read the contents to know if the arrest is justified or not. Some of the titles up there are not any bit tactful. That's not journalism but partisanship.

Journalism is not about publicising your opinion on papers that are supposedly meant to be neutral. However, a good writer can always express his opinion either by tactfully presenting it as a reflection of other people's take or galvanizing it with empirical information such that his message would be received without creating room for any harassment.

"President Buhari does not believe in Nigeria" is a terrible title that appears far more opinionated than factual; this is regardless of how true it may be. A better title would have been "Presidents Buhari's loopsided appointments cast a shadow of doubt on his one-Nigeria mantra". Here, the number of Northerners heading different MDAs could serve as the backing empirical evidence. Besides, this title comes off as an expression of doubt and not a statement of fact thus protecting the writer. Another better title would be "President Buhari does not believe in Nigeria - Internet users". Here the writer would be presenting his case as an opinion of others and could easily fetch numerous online posts to back it up if push comes to shove.

Journalism requires tact and mind games. The students may not have these skills yet but the supervising lecturer whom I suppose is from the department of Mass Communication should have known better.

Poor guys...

Please pay no heed to this tyranny enabler, he's obviously ignorant about what the basic tenets of journalism are. There is nothing wrong with the titles of those op-eds. News firms in saner clime use harsher headlines without no harrassment from secret police.

Education / NANS Releases Full Report On Fuoye Crisis, Bans Fayemi And Wife From Schools by TmKonzept: 10:57pm On Oct 04, 2019
NANS Released Full Report On Fuoye Crisis, Ban Fayemi and Wife From Schools, Requests For 20 Million Naira For Slain And Injured Students.

NANS REPORT ON THE GRIEVIOUS KILLING OF STUDENTS AT FEDERAL UNIVERSITY, OYE-EKITI.

PREAMBLE:
After three months of darkness, students of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti resolved to stage a protest against the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, the disco in charge of that area.
The protest was called at the instance of the students who massively mobilized themselves to express their displeasure and was led by the Students Union Government.
In the early hours of 9th September, 2019, the students had mobilized themselves and gathered at the Ifaki-Ikole-Omuo highway to draw attention to their plight with presence of police officers drawn from divisions under the Police Command, Ekiti State.

The protest ended peacefully around noon and the students dispersed.
Soon after, the convoy of the wife of Ekiti State Governor drove into town and were received by jubilant party members, motorcycle riders and community leaders to the venue of the program Erelu Bisi Fayemi had scheduled to attend at Oye Ekiti.

Prior to her arrival, the security team attached to Erelu Bisi Fayemi had been copiously briefed on the protest embarked upon by the students necessitating delay for 2hours.

Upon arrival at the venue of the program, the CSO to the State Government invited the Student Union President of FUOYE for a possible dialogue.
Honouring the invitation, facilitated by a Military personnel (attached to a military check point), an armed Counter Terrorism Unit officer, attached to the Wife of the Governor of Ekiti State approached with a slap and assaulted the Student Union President.
Reportedly, this happened in the presence of the CSO, the Military personnel, FUOYE students and indigenes of Oye Ekiti community who got infuriated by the assault on the Student Union President.

OUR FACT FINDING REVEALS THE FOLLOWING;
*That the students protest of 9th September, 2019 was peaceful.

*That the protest was not targeted at the wife of the governor but the BEDC

*That the students had dispersed before the entrance of Erelu Bisi Fayemi, wife of Ekiti State Governor into Oye community.

*That the people of the community mobilized to welcome the wife of the governor from entrance to the venue of her program without any threat to her person and her entourage

*That the Student Union President was invited from where he had earlier retired to take a rest by the Chief Security Officer to the Ekiti State Governor.

*That an unnamed officer with the Counter Terrorism Unit attached to the Wife of the Governor of Ekiti State did slap and molest the student Union President without any provocation in the presence of the CSO to the governor.

*That the Student Union President left the venue after being pacified by the CSO and the military personnel who had earlier invited him for a meeting with the CSO.

*That due to infuriation by the students and indigenes present during the molestation and assault of the Student Union President by the CTU officer, the atmosphere became tensed and in the ensuing altercations, the wife of the governor abruptly ended her engagement at Oye-Ekiti. Whereas, a simple attention by H.E Erelu Fayemi would have calmed the situation but massive 'force' was deployed by the Counter Terrorism Unit officers attached to Erelu Bisi Fayemi in whisking her away from the venue.

*That the CTU officers employed brute force, shooting sporadically at different directions in a bid to whisk away the Wife of the Governor who was obviously under no threat whatsoever.

*That in the course of shooting sporadically, clear intentions were made by the CTU officers to kill as bullets and tear gas cannisters were fired aiming at harmless students and indigenes.

*That during the shooting, four students were fired, one in the head, another in the hand and the other in the stomach.
*That one indigene was also shot in the buttock while doing legitimate business in his shop

*That while Kehinde Dada died on the spot, Joseph Okonofua was rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti where several operations were performed to save his life by the medical team on hand proved abortive.

*That several others were injured, rushed to different hospitals for medical care.
*That one of the victims hit by a canister fired by an armed officer of the CTU was immediately referred to Lagos State Teaching Hospital and currently paralyzed.

*That many of the students and indigenes sustained bullet wounds and varying degrees of injuries some of whom have received treatment and recuperating.

*That both Kehinde Dada and Joseph Okonofua felled by CTU officers attached to Erelu Bisi Fayemi has been buried in Usi-Ekiti, Ekiti State and Ewu, Edo State respectively without any autopsy conducted to them.

THE UNFORTUNATE DENIAL
Despite the murder of two promising students during her political visitation to Oye-Ekiti, the wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi rushed to the media upon hearing that casualties have been recorded as a result of her security attaché unprofessionalism, overzealousness and barbarism to allege that the students attacked her convoy and that she only escaped through the grace of God.

Again, the Ekiti State Government hurriedly, without verification and due diligence, through the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Culture, Mr. Muyiwa Olumilua laboriously attempted to pull the wool off the eyes of the public by dishing out dishonest views in respect to what transpired; all were aimed at covering up the stark reality of their misdeed.
Painful however, the subtle plans to negate the occurrence and paint a picture of political attack were soon distorted by on the spot video recordings of the brutality.

While many believed that Police officers at the Ekiti State Command precipitated the crisis, NANS investigation revealed that the CTU officers attached to the wife of Ekiti State Governor is not under the control of the Police command.

Whereas, Ekiti State is not listed amongst states under threats of terrorist attack, attaching multitude of CTU officers to an individual is nonetheless viewed by Nigerian students and Ekiti citizens as an abuse of power.

That every attempt has been made by the government and agents in collaboration with the State government at suppressing the truth, intimidating those who spoke against the barbarism and breaking the ranks of the student leadership, her structural organs and active members.
Suffice to say that efforts are still ongoing by the agents of Ekiti State government to declassify genuine efforts by the NANS leadership in seeking justice.

THE KAYODE FAYEMI BROADCAST
There's no gainsaying the fact that Governor John Kayode Fayemi in his broadcast was humane, though an afterthought, He nonetheless failed to acknowledge the pains of the people and families, communities and the University community, NANS and Nigerian students by apologizing on behalf of his wife for the unfortunate brutality on harmless citizens.

Much as the Governor laboured to impress the public with his crafted thoughts, the message failed to situate the reality of the sad occurrence leading to the death of two promising students of FUOYE with his outright emphasis that Erelu Bisi Fayemi, his wife was the victim of the unfortunate brutality. We out of curiosity ask, who was brutal?

INTERVENTION AND VERIFICATION

In response to the call by Nigerians demanding justice for the murdered FUOYE students, the Global President of NANS Danielson Bamidele Akpan led a delegation to Ekiti State on the 15th of September, 2019 to assess the situation.

Until arrival, no remorse was shown by any of the actors in the unfortunate incident. Students were indiscriminately arrested and detained at the Ekiti State Police Command beyond the rightful 24hrs permitted by the law. It took the intervention of the delegation to secure the release of those in detention and retrieve the impounded 'Aluta vehicle' belonging to the Students' Union Government of FUOYE.
The wife of the governor/the Ekiti State government had rather alleged that the students attacked the convoy on that fateful day.
Amongst other places where investigations were covertly done, the leadership in keeping to #JUSTICEFORFUOYE interacted with the following:
The State Security Service, Ekiti State Command, The Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, Royal Highnesses both at Oye-Ekiti and Usi-Ekiti, The SUG President and executive members of FUOYE, The NANS JCC leadership in Ekiti State, former leaders of NANS in Ekiti State and South Western Nigeria, Parents and families of the murdered students (Kehinde Dada and Joseph Okonofua), indigenes of Oye, Ikole and Usi-Ekiti, Management and Board of Federal Medical Center, Ido-Ekiti, Management and Staff of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, The SA Youth and Student to the Governor of Ekiti State amongst others.
These interactions were quite revealing, enriching and as well informative.

DEMANDS:
*That it is incumbent as a 'moral duty' on the wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi to make available the list of Counter Terrorism Unit officers attached to her person and office.

* That Erelu Bisi Fayemi should tell the entire public why she moves in a convoy of CTU officers instead of Special Protection Unit officers designated for the protection of VIP's such as her likes.

*That an apology letter be written by Erelu Bisi Fayemi; published in at least 5 national dailies, 6 television stations with wide coverage and 12 radio stations spread across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria and 20 online news medium.

*That the Ekiti State Government should without delay retract statements credited to the Commissioner of Information, Orientation and culture claiming that the wife of the governor and her convoy were attacked by FUOYE students.

*That beyond condolence visits paid to families of Kehinde Dada and Joseph Okonofua, practical effort should be made by the state government to deliberately assuage the grieving families through;
1. Employment into the state civil service at least 2 members of each of the families of the deceased students deemed employable.
2. Immortalization of the slained students.
3. Immediate release of CTU officers attached to the wife of the Ekiti State Governor for prosecution in accordance to the laws.
4. That a judicial commission of inquiry involving all stakeholders including the students, members of the host communities and the deceased families be set up immediately to unravel the cause of the incident with a view to forestalling future occurrence.
5. The Ekiti State Government should immediately pay the gratuity and pension of the parents of Kehinde Dada which they have not paid for Seven Years after retirement.
6. That all the medical bills of the survivors be paid with Twenty million Naira (N20m) each as compensation.
*That the Ekiti State Government should as a matter of urgency provide transformers to communities hosting the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti to facilitate regular supply of electricity.
That the Benin Electricity Distribution Company should show efficiency and ensure supply of electricity to the campuses of FUOYE both at Oye-Ekiti and Ikole-Ekiti and other communities where the students reside.

*That no attempt should be made at pointing accusations at the Students Union Government of FUOYE, any of her executives and or any students in relation to the protest which is entirely not connected with the brute of the overzealous CTU officers attached to Erelu Bisi Fayemi.

*That the IGP should as a matter of urgency reconstitute the Police Students Relations Committee who can interface and nip in the bud the incessant killing of innocent Nigerian students by trigger happy Police officers and create a student’s friendly police.

*That the Police authorities should bar police officers such as SARS, CTU e.t.c other than the regular police from meddling in student matters especially on campuses or communities hosting students.

*That the NANS hereby places a ban on the wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi and her spouse from entering, attending or participating in any activity(ies) on any campus of any Tertiary Institution in Nigeria pending the resolution of all issues in contention.
*That NANS demands that all of these demands are met before 10th October, 2019.

Education / Trouble Brews In NANS As President Refused To Vacate Office Despite Tenure’s Exp by TmKonzept: 8:56pm On Sep 13, 2019
Trouble Brews In NANS As President Refused To Vacate Office Despite Tenure’s Expiration

Trouble seems to be brewing in the National Body of the National Association of Nigeria Student as the President, Bamidele Danielson refused to call for a convention where a new executive will be elected, despite expiration of tenure. Remember on the 10th of August 2018, at the end of NANS election, which took place in Abuja, Comrade Danielson Bamidele Akpan was declared the winner of the election after polling a total number of 104 votes out of 272 delegates that participated in the exercise.

Stakeholders in the Student’s movement has declared the act unconstitutional and illegal and urged the president who tenure has expire since two months ago to call for a convention with immediate alacrity.

NANS Constitution otherwise known as Charter of Demand says the tenure of any NANS Government is One Year, the convention that will usher in a new government should be conducted annually, constitution again stated it that “annual” means a year after the previous convention.

The vagrant abuse of this constitutional provision is one of the reasons why people considered NANS as a conglomeration of vagabonds, herd of outcasts, temple of nuisance and an arena of lawlessness. The association is no longer been guided by the constitution that was made by heroes of the struggle in 1982, they rather rely on tradition that encourages impunity and rascality.

Speaking on the development, a former National Officer of NANS Said:
“On the 10th of July, 2018, the unity convention that brought President Bamidele Danielson led government was conducted in Abuja, today is 10th of July 2019, exactly a year, they have not even thought of a commencing a transition process. As at today, no date for pre-convention, no date for convention, yet, some persons believe that it is a tradition in NANS that illegality and unconstitutional dealings should be perpetuated! Yet again, the same set of people want Nigeria to be better. What is wrong is wrong, what is illegal is illegal, in a sane society, what is unconstitutionally done can never be traditionally justified, we should not continue toeing the ignoble path that has earned us a great ignominy and pathetic opprobrium. Nigerian students and Nigeria at large have lost hope in NANS and we cannot continue the macabre dance that has dragged the organization in the mud of mockery over years, as a vocalist of concerned Nigerian Students, we appeal to cadres in NANS to change the tide of history, we cannot continue to place tradition above constitution, it is called impunity, we also appeal to fellow students to stand up and right the wrong, the time is now and we are the generation. Just like President Buhari said some years ago, we should be the carriers of change we want to see, CHANGE BEGINS WITH NANS”..

Politics / Nigerian Activist Puts Up Obituary Anticipating Death In Hands Of Security Agent by TmKonzept: 10:02pm On Sep 12, 2019
A human rights activist, Ayomide Oluwaremilekun Oseni, has uploaded what he described as his obituary picture on social media.
Oseni said it was necessary to do so in anticipation that he might die in the hands of President Muhammadu Buhari-sanctioned security agents who would likely want to prevent the proposed September 18 #RevolutionNow open-air symposium slated to hold in Nigeria and other places.
The Nigerian activist was arrested last August and remained in detention for almost two weeks for staging a one-man protest at the National Stadium in Surulere.

“In case Muhammadu Buhari, @MBuhari decides to kill us again on September 18, 2019, and I die…This is my obituary picture, I died a revolutionist…#RevolutionNow #FreeSowore #RevolutionIsNow #RevolutionProtest,” he tweeted @Daddy_aoo.

Education / Punch Lied! Protesting Fuoye Students Did Not Attacked Bisi Fayemi's Convoy-nans by TmKonzept: 12:23pm On Sep 11, 2019

The Vice President of the National Association of Nigeria Student, Ojo Raymond has refuted the claim by Punch Newspaper that Bisi Fayemi Escape Death in the hand of protesting Fuoye Student.

See release below:

It is very embarrassing and a slap on the consciousness of Nigerian students to read of an unfortunate but distorted fact about the incidence that occured today at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti. Let it be made known that the Police officers attached to the wife of the Governor of Ekiti State Mrs Bisi Fayemi and the management of FUOYE unleased terror on the Students’ community which led to the death and significant injuries on students.

It is a widely known fact that the students of the University were protesting against poor and epileptic power supply in Oye and Ikole before they were attacked by the Police officers attached to the wife of the Governor of Ekiti State.

The manner in which the Police officers attached to the governor’s wife executed the purposeful mayhem on students showed lack of empathy, feelings of humaness and poor mental soundness of many Nigerian police officers.

Contrary to the fat lie circulated around by the Punch Newspaper, that the wife of the Governor was held down in the protest, she was never held down in the protest. Her trip was just a coincidence with the protest of the students. As a responsive woman and mother at the corridors of power, it is expected of her to come down to sympathise with the mass of students by addressing them and making a promise to press their demands to the government, instead one of her police orderlies alighted from the vehicle and slapped the Union President. This singular action which is a violation of right to dignity of human person spurred the students to demand for a peaceful explanation from the Police officer who slapped the president. While this was on, it is expected of the first Lady to intervene and broker peace rather other police officers attached to her responded by shooting sporadically at students without even considering the fact that the students were unarmed and, without giving any regard for the rules of engagement. Unfortunately, a student, Dada Kehinde Abiodun, a Part 1 student of the Department of Crop Science and Horticulture was killed while some were severly injured and are receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Ido.

It is however with smelly-bitterness that I read the press statement of the Vice Chancellor of FUOYE ordering for the immediate suspension of the Students’ Union which itself is another violation of freedom of association and assembly. This action clearly show that the management lack the capacity to maintain decorum in the University and also lacks leadership capacity in times of crisis. The Vice Chancellor decided to leave leprosy by treating eczema.

The National leadership of NANS hereby emphatically state that FUOYE management has no justification whatsoever to suspend the Union, and, we equally use this medium to caution the University management to desist from any act of victimisation on student. This is because because, their initial action has shown that they would go to any length to collaborate with the agents of the State to frustrate Students’ agitations.

We demand the immediate arrest and procecution of the Police officer that shot the student and other officers involved by the Inspector General of Police.

We demand that the University Management, rescind its decision on its purported suspension of the student union.

We demand that adequate compensation be given to the family of the student that was lost during the protest and also injured students should be taken care off.

We demand for the immediate restoration of power supply to the student communities .

Signed

Politics / Arewa Youth Vanguard’s BOT Chairman Withdraw Support For APC And Buhari, States by TmKonzept: 11:02pm On Sep 10, 2019

Abubakar Ismail Kankara, Board of Trustee Chairman of Arewa Youth Vanguard has in a facebook post withdraw his support for the ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC) and the incumbent president , Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.

Below are his reasons for doing so:

[b]Why I dump APC withdraw my support for Buhari

Read with wisdom not hatred.

I was a bonified member of the ruling All progressive Congress ( APC ) and a cure buharist.

I legally join APC because I believe PDP has failed in some extent, I needed to see something different. In respect to that, I joyfully joins other Nigerians in struggle for a better change.

As we all know , APC comes with different song and crowded dancing supporters who believes buhari is a messier and every decampy is a saint.

Nigeria has been govern by greedy leaders since inception of democracy, I don’t want to say all but looking at the higher percentage of those likes, majority will be a point to failure.

All of a sudden, buhari comes with good records while serving as a military personnel even though he throws the first democratic government of late shagari and there was an economic crash for the months he rule but he has no records of corruption of any kinds.

To cut the story short.
I support buhari and APC because I needed the below projects as always promise by buhari and all members of the party.

1-Accurate security
2-Infrastructural and technological development
3- Human capital development
4-Advance economy, Productivity, Reliability and employment
5- Standard education
6- Stable electricity power supply
7- A free corrupt Nation.
8- Agricultural advancement

I believe someone just remember things I did not listed while someone shake heads and beeb a reminder while someone will see it otherwise.
But do not forget to remember my entitled as a human and an adult who has a right to choose and follow a part of any interest.

Out of the above listed, let me shade more lights and highlight some because I know i can’t say it all.

Adquate Security
We are all living witness about the current security challenges, expecially in the northern part of the country. Many have loose thier hard earned money, families where been displaced, many are now homeless, uncountable numbers of children’s are now ophans and no hopes for further or better life. The APC and Buhari lead Administration keep mutes, as he presidents Muhammadu Buhari hardly speaks or sends condolences or condemned such attacked.

I remember vidivly, how Goodluck ebele Johnathan handle Boko – Haram sects during his administration. We all condemned him and point the insecurity straight to his personality. Thou he makes attempt by declaring States of emergency in the most terrorize states, but we fight him and massively voted him out. If that alone can be a reason to hate Goodluck ebele Johnathan then it can purely be a reason for me to withdraw my support for PMB and APC

Infrastructural and technological development
Yesterday was far better than today, judging by the condition of our roads alone not to talk about other things. You may wonder who was clamoring and promising Nigerians good roads and blaming blaming the then government.
There is no any complete projects but I see PMB commissioning uncomplicated projects which is not expected from him also.

free corrupt Nation.
Buhari was clean before now, but after he won the 2015 elections I began to notice something different in him, there was actually nothing but whichunting oppositions directly in the name of fighting corruption.
I have seen series of corrupt cases under his watch in his then carbinet but non of them were prosecutes for any reason, I’ve seen some cases where the EFCC closes cases of corrupt charges to those who decamp to APC bearly close to 2019 elections.
For now that I’ve seen someone who’s been charge and declered currupt by court as a minister didn’t I have reason to withdraw my support?

Standard education
Our schools have turn to jungle for smokers, the structures have been delapidated , teachers and lecturers are hungry over delayed salary. University polytechnic and other taciary institution always on strike.
Billions are wasted and stealing in the name of school feeding , school fees were skyrocket above what an ordinary citizen can afford. Isn’t this a reason also?

Stable electricity power supply.
Nigerians have never experienced total blackout until Buhari administration come on board .
The power generation was drastically bad to an extent Nigeria witness zero Megawatt.
I remember a very shameful and disgrace episode where a minister under PMB took to medea and boldly make a claim that Nigerians enjoy 24hrs power supply while 80percent of Nigerians sleeps in dark Despite paying higher bills to the electricity distribution companies or whatever they are called.

At a time frame let me drop my pain here but I believe I’ve answered people asking the reason why I quit APC and withdraw my support for PMB. This isn’t all but I choose to say a little.
Thanks for reading

Education / Police Invites NANS Over Seven Days Ultimatum Given To South Africa Firms by TmKonzept: 10:10pm On Sep 10, 2019

Leadership of the National Association Of Nigeria Student (NANS) has been invited to the force headquarter over a threat -that all South African Companies should leave Nigeria before Seven Days- issued by the student body last week in response to xenophobic attacks.

A meeting held between the IGP, Federal Republic of Nigeria and NANS ended on a mutual note. The meeting X-rayed NANS involvement so far in the Xenophobia struggle as well as both Nigerian and South Africans government’s efforts at reaching lasting solutions. While the IGP appreciated the peacefulness of NANS agitation for an end to Xenophobic attacks on African nationals especially Nigerians.

A petition submitted by the South African High Commission was responded to by the NANS leadership. The NANS President took time to debunk the fallacies and fears expressed by the South African High Commission and gave evidences of actions taken so far.

The president also reiterated on behalf of the students movement that no violence has been recorded so far in their actions and none will be encouraged as we go even further.
He also asserted that they are morally higher than the South Africans hence their resolve to press for freedom, dignity and respect for all Nigerians, Africans and the businesses they own in South Africa without violence against their persons and businesses.

The IGP advised that the students movement should operate within the ambit of the law and he assured the Police authorities of their commitment to the struggle through consistent global advocacy for the defence of all Nigerians in South Africans.

The President of NANS, Comr. Danielson Akpan, GCNS was accompanied by the Comr. Yinka Dada, JP, former NANS President, Comr. Eugene Okoloise, NANS VP National Affairs 2000/01, Comr. Ekemini Inyang Ex-Officio 1 among others.

Politics / Ondo Women Protest Topless, Demand Sowore’s Release by TmKonzept: 11:16pm On Aug 30, 2019
In a unanimous decision, women in their numbers came together to demand for Omoyele Sowore release, somewhere in south-western part of Nigeria, the age group where ranging from 50 to 90 years old. They maintain that they were aggrieved after repeatedly hearing on radio, that application challenging his detention was rejected by justice N.E MAHA.
They were chanting release our son, as it was obvious in the inscriptions of some of the play card they were carrying.

However, some conservative scholars' have argued that the action of this old women may not have a pronounced effect now, but certainly ,a flaccid paralysis, confusion, elephantiasis and demise may come along with it in a short while, In midst of those who conspired against him and their children...

The old women strongly believed, Sowore omoyele who has contributed so much to the aspect being ignored by the government, such as, schools, pipe borne water and others, is not a criminal/terrorist and also warned against framing him up with heinous criminal charges. FreeSoworenow they say is the antidote for this action!

Education / Ui Lifts Ban On Student Union Activities After Two Years by TmKonzept: 10:39pm On Aug 30, 2019

The management of the University of Ibadan (UI) has lifted the ban on Students Union activities.

Remember that the School proscribed its Students Union activities After a protest over non issuance of I.D Card and other issues on May 30 2017

According to the claims of the authorities, the union was proscribed due to the misdemeanours of the union leaders.

It also accused the Ojo Aderemi-led administration of disrupting academic activities by leading a protest against the non-issuance of identity (ID) cards and ‘unruly behaviour’ of the president.

Before now, the management had rejected demands to reinstate the union, with the vice-chancellor, Idowu Olayinka, saying in 2018 that it was not yet time to do so.

He added that the union could not be reinstated when the university calendar was yet to be stable.

Reinstatement
The school had intended to make the official announcement of the reinstatement on Monday, a reliable source at the university senate said.

However, speaking with this correspondent on Friday evening, Mr Olayinka confirmed the development.

He said the senate met on Friday and lifted the suspension on students union activities.

Also, the school spokesperson, Tunji Oladejo, said that the university is ready to conduct leadership training after the election.

“We are ready to work with the crop of new leaders so as to move the university forward,” he said.

Fates of Suspended Unionists who took part in the protest is still unknown.

Politics / “the Buhari I Know Will Not Release Sowore” – Frederick Odorige by TmKonzept: 11:16pm On Aug 26, 2019

The Global Coordinator of Nigerians in Diaspora under the aegis of Global Coalition for Security and Democracy in Nigeria (GCSDN) Frederick Odorige has, in his daily Op-ed expressed his view on the arbitrary incaceration of Former Presidential candidate of African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore

Read his views below:

The Retired Muhammadu Buhari that I know will not release Omoyele Sowore. He will harden his heart like Pharaoh until something happens. Left with Buhari, Sowore will be in detention as long as Buhari will be in office.

Buhari has no respect for the rule of law. He has no respect for the Nigerian constitution either. He strongly believes that he is above the law. He disrespected 5 court orders to release Sambo Dasuki. He disobeyed several court orders to release Nnamdi Kanu. He disobeyed 5 courts to release El-Zakzaky. He even disobeyed the order of the ECOWAS court. Buhari’s brain is filled with the years of military decrees. Once a soldier, always a soldier! A leopard does not change its spots. The worst attack against democracy is to vote ex-military officers as President, Governor or Legislator in Nigeria.

The only time Buhari respected court orders was when he manipulated the court to proscribe IPOB and Shiite muslims as terrorist groups. I do not upport the division of Nigeria but I strongly condemn the claim that IPOB is a terrorist group. Buhari’s mother died when he was in detention after the overthrow by Babaginda. He was not permitted to attend her burial ceremony. Therefore, anybody could be detained under Buhari against the rule of law. In his mind, he continually reasons “where was the law when IBB detained me?”

People like Ahmed Tinubu and others that Sowore exposed through his publications will further egg Buhari not to release him. That was the same way some members of the House of Representatives encouraged Buhari not to release El- Zakzaky; against court ruling.

Either of three things could happen. One, the tribunal could remove Buhari from Office and order the swearing in of Abubakar Atiku as president. Deep thinking predicts that Atiku could release Sowore to gain the support of the people.

If Buhari is removed, the military may not want to respect the order of the tribunal or court because they are loyal to Buhari. Crises!

They could form an interim government with the President of the Supreme court as interim President as it happened after the Egyptian revolution. He is Buhari’s lackey.

Two, Buhari could go the Abacha way and the mourning period could be manipulated in such a way that the Senate president could come on board while Sowore remains in detention because Osinbajo will be surreptitiously side-lined.

Three, Nigerians could react beyond words if the court extends the detention of Sowore. The reaction of Nigerians could catapult the real revolution which will be beyond Sowore. This will be greatly assisted by Nigerians in diaspora as they continue to boo and humiliate Nigerian politicians and their children abroad. The real pressure group will start from abroad because the humiliation will extend to the children of Nigerian politicians schooling abroad.

The Inspector General of Police and Shehu Garba spokesperson to Buhari had insinuated through the media, that our movement known as the Global Coalition for Security and Democracy in Nigeria is a veritable platform aiding the revolution in Nigeria. This shows that the government believes that Nigerians at home have conditioned themselves to romance with hardship, unemployment and insecurity.

The international humiliation of politicians and their children abroad will reach feverish height. The names and schools attended by their children abroad are reportedly being compiled. Nigerian politicians use their children schooling abroad to launder money from Nigeria.

For Sowore to be released by the voices of the Nigerian people, something will happen that will provoke Nigerians equally. We are getting to that level. Sowore’s freedom is in our hands as superintended by God. Chains fell when Herod’s soldiers were asleep. We must switch to anger mode and remain there. In doing so, Sowore will not only be free, but many other issues hindering our national progress will be forcefully addressed.

This can only happen if we put aside our basins of fufu like Mama Revolution of Oshogbo. That fufu basin of tribalism, regionalism and religion must be cast away.

The “questioning” of Ekweremadu in Germany precipitated by IPOB has raised our consciousness and we must maintain the momentum. Hate or like them, Sowore and Kanu have carved positive niches for themselves. They brought new consciousness and surrendered themselves for political freedom based on individual belief. I strongly prefer restructuring to the disintegration of our beloved country. Respect my opinion as I respect yours. If not for greedy politicians, we are too blessed to complain.

Though our famous artistes and Nollywood actors have selfishly remained silent, this freedom is here and we must have confidence in the victory ahead. We must stay focused, determined and resolute. If not revolution, then what?

When we succeed and they read our story tomorrow, our children will not believe that we passed through these roads of thorns.

Hallelluyah is an heavenly language.

MAJOR DEADLINE DEALS IN THE ENGLAND PREMIER LEAGUE
Many unexpected deals took place in the England premier league this summer which saw a lot of players leaving their team for another either on a permanent deal or on a basis of loan contract. However, few days to the start of the tournament, some transfers were surprisingly made between clubs and we at TMKONZEPT have made a list of the major deals among the deadline Transactions.

Ryan Sessegnon - Fulham to Tottenham - £25m

[/img]

Per the announcement, Sessegnon has agreed a six-year deal with the north London club after making 35 Premier League appearances for Fulham last term.
The teenager was the first player from outside of the top division to be nominated for PFA Young Player of the Year award in 2017-18.
Sessegnon has spent much of his short career at left-back, but the progressive nature of his game has seen him feature up the field in the attack. He is expected to develop as a forward.
The player finished joint-top scorer on three goals at the 2017 European Under-19 Championship, with England winning the tournament for the first time.
Expectations were high for Sessegnon last term, and with Fulham breaking the bank on signings, the winger was expected to shine.
However, the prodigy only found the back of the net twice during the Premier League campaign, providing six assists. Fulham were relegated after a poor season, but Sessegnon is still young and expected to have a successful career

Andy Carroll - West Ham to Newcastle - undisclosed

Striker Carroll – who has played nine times for England, scoring two goals – joined West Ham on a season-long loan from Liverpool in August 2012 and the switch was made permanent the following summer in a £15m deal (€17m).
The 30-year-old’s time with the Hammers has been significantly disrupted by injuries, and he made only 12 Premier League appearances in 2018-19. Carroll’s overall record for the club is 33 goals in 126 league matches.

Danny Drinkwater - Chelsea to Burnley - loan

[/img]

Drinkwater, who won the premier league title with Leicester City in 2015-16, joined Chelsea for £35m in 2017.

David Luiz - Chelsea to Arsenal - £8m

Politics / 19 Days After Dss Fails To Release Detained Oau Activist, Transfers Him To Abuja by TmKonzept: 10:45pm On Aug 24, 2019

The Department Of State Security (DSS), Oshogbo division, has transferred Olawale Adebayo (Mandate) to Abuja during this week after 19 days of unlawful detention, Tmkonzept can confirm.

It should be recalled that Tmkonzept reported earlier that Olawale Adebayo is one of the #RevolutionNow protesters that was arrested in Oshogbo on the 5th of August. He was arrested alongside three other students of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), a UniOsun lecturer, and two members of the Take It Back Movement. However, other arrested protesters were released few days after the arrest but the DSS have chosen to keep Mandate in detention for reasons best known to them.

Efforts made by several authorities and persons to secure his release are being frustrated by the DSS. In a related development the DSS has also refused to allow anyone see him, including his lawyer. However, his co-detainee who shared same confinement with him and was released two weeks ago confirmed that Mandate was not in a good state of health before he left the cell, he further stated that Mandate has been subjected to varying degrees of torture by the hard-wired security operatives.

In another development, a source who chose to speak under anonymity has revealed that the prolonged detention of Mandate might be linked to the strategic clampdown of the university management on campus activists – with Mandate being a prominent one. The source further stated that Mandate’s prolonged detention is being influenced by certain power brokers in the University’s helm of affairs. Already, the strategic victimisation of campus activists through portal deactivation, unlawful arrests, detention and arraignment with the aid of external forces such as DSS and the judiciary is a trend synonymous with the Ogunbodede-led administration.

Although, the university has denied influencing the detention and arraignment of the protesting students in a news published on OAUkilonshele on Monday, but, the circular earlier released on August 5 by the Dean Of Students’ Affairs, Prof. Aransi, gives a contrast to such denial. The circular which reads on the fourth paragraph; “Any student involved in the protest would have himself/herself to blame.

One then would begin to wonder how the university can affirmatively state that students protesting outside it’s jurisdiction would have themselves to blame if does not already have an unholy alliance with the security operatives and the judiciary.

Trends

On March 21, 2018, the Vice-chancellor orchestrated the arrest of five students, through the campus security, for protesting against his eviction order at Moremi hall, and subsequently they were detained in Koshere prison for seven days with stringent bail conditions. However, after an outpour of public criticism, he denied involvement in their arrest, the university even went further to state that the students were directly arrested by the policemen, when video evidences showed the arrest was done by campus security operatives who later handed them over to the police force for arraignment and disciplinary actions.

The kill-and-deny approach can be said to be another strategic tactics of the university management to victimise campus activists.

Legal perspective

The Constitution of Nigeria stipulates that a suspect should not be detained for more than forty-eight hours without trial, however, Mandate has been held in detention for over 19 days without a court trial. Recently, the DSS lawyer had tried to dissuade Mandate’s lawyer from filing a court order for his bail, stating that the DSS would not honour such bail. Already, the DSS has built a reputation of disregarding court orders.

A Lagos-based lawyer, Ayo Ademiluyi Esq, has condemned the prolonged detention of Mandate as a gross violation of his fundamental human rights. ‘In the first instance, he has spent excessive days in Oshogbo’s cell, his transfer to Abuja is an infringement on his natural liberty and a further testament that the Buhari-led administration has no respect for democratic rights’, Ayo Ademiluyi said.

As at the time of filing this report, all efforts to reach the DSS Oshogbo division and the authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University proved abortive.

The coming week would make it exactly three weeks that Mandate has been held in detention without any trial. A media campaign has been launched by several bodies with the hashtag: #FreeMandate

When their mosque inside Awo cafe was invaded by ever militant Awoite, then we discovered up to 13 pregnant ladies who are students and some nursing mothers, we never had an idea of what goes on around that hub before that day. It has to involve the DSS of the school to gain entrance into their hub inside Awo Cafe that day.

Education / Unilag Student Activist Olorunfemi Remains Suspended After Seven Semesters by TmKonzept: 1:49pm On Aug 16, 2019

Adeyeye was suspended for four semesters in 2016 by the disciplinary panel of the institution over his Facebook page exposing the unpleasant academic condition of the school to the public.

See the critique that got him suspended:
https://www.nairaland.com/3310038/adeyeye-olorunfemi-rusticated-unilag-facebook

The management of the University of Lagos has failed to reinstate Femi Adeyeye, a student union activist, after serving a suspension for seven academic semesters.

Adeyeye was suspended for four semesters by the disciplinary panel of the institution over his Facebook page exposing the unpleasant academic condition of the school to the public.

However, three semesters after the initial four-semester served, Adeyeye has yet to be accepted into the institution, with the school management blocking his access to his student portal

Adeyeye revealed that he had written several letters to the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Director of Academic Affairs and Centre for Information Technology and Systems (C.I.T.S) on the continuous deactivation of his student portal.

Adeyeye, in a statement, detailed the event that led to the revocation of his studentship by the UNILAG management.

He said, “It will be recalled that on April 6,7 and 8 of 2016, students at the University of Lagos embarked on protests, placing on the table of the management demands as ”basic” as adequate power supply, water for bathing, drinking and cooking for survival.
“This came after several appeals at the management led by Prof. Rahman Bello (who is now under questioning for misappropriation and gross abuse of office) for better welfarism. The welfare situation was as bad as students buying bags of sachet water to bathe and most females became regular customers at perfumes shops

“Instead of addressing the issue, the Senate brought in armed-to-the-teeth police officers to chase students out of the campus. The violence meted on students by the poorly trained officers left many injured.

“The campus was eventually shut down and the Students’ Union suspended illegally. It was at the heat of these events, I was invited to a panel and thereafter suspended unjustly for four semesters for writing an article on my Facebook timeline.

“Till this moment, my student portal remains under lock and key and there has not been any hope towards activating it from those in charge due to reasons unknown to both me and members of the public who have been following the whole sage. The internet has almost all these events of repression and torture documented but I would, in this statement, highlight some in a chronological pattern.”

Femi Adeyeye and Prof. Wole Soyinka

Adeyeye also lamented the repression of students’ rights and ban of students’ union of a tertiary institution in the country positing that the move was made to gag students against speaking and demanding for their rights from the institution.
He said, “Till this moment, students still live in fear and lack on their campuses- from issues of insecurity to poor welfare. The issues raised remain unattended to by the authorities.

“What needs to be saved is the Nigerian educational system that has been led by characters who are bereft of ideas on administration, management, conflict resolution and even scholarship. These deficiencies, inadequacies and inabilities have had a lot of effects on the total build-up of young people of my generation.
“It is also noteworthy that the attacks on freedom of association by the Management cannot be allowed to stand

Politics / Revolutionnow Members Visits Brutalized Old Woman by TmKonzept: 3:52pm On Aug 13, 2019

Madam Sariyu, also known as Iya Onifufu who was brutalised by DSS operatives for joining the Revolutionnow protest wad visited by members of the Coalition for revolution CORE, Dunsin Samuel, recounts their team visitation ordeal as thus:

The Trip To Iya Onifufu’s House:

Following the viral news report of the 70-year old Fufu seller who joined the # RevolutionNow protest and was brutalised by security operatives, we embarked on a journey to her house in Osogbo and we got to her street at around 10am, but couldn’t get to her house till 10:30am due to the bad road network. Our arrival at her house was greeted by a warm reception and hospitality.
Mama Sariyu however gave a very long narrative and insight about her life, struggles and reason for joining the protest.
When asked why she joined the protest, she said she joined the protest because she heard the protesters talking about the suffering of Nigeria and she couldn’t pretend she was not also suffering. Especially, when she heard someone talking about unemployment and she has unemployed children who couldn’t get job after graduating for several years.
She said she has been a good lover of education from childhood, and despite the fact that she witnessed the Awolowo’s free education era, her dreams never materialised because her father was against girl-child education. He believed the result of sending a female to school is unwanted pregnancy.
Then, she was introduced to Fufu sales at a very young age when Awolowo was the premier of the western-region and she has remained in the Fufu-hawking business for several decades till present. When asked the highest profit she has made in a day, she said N2000 and that was when the Nigerian economy was good, however, since the recent downturn in the Nigerian economy, her gains have fluctuated between N800-N1000. An amount she expends in the same day due to daily needs. Owing to the competitive fufu sales in Osogbo, she wakes up as early 5am to start the mixing of raw cassava with her hearthen and crude implements (which she showed us). Then, she sets for sale at around 10am and does not return until 5pm due to the many distant locations she has to reach before making maximum sales. She cited locations like Okefia, Olaiya Junction and many other locations in Osogbo.
When asked about why she doesn’t have a bed, she said she used to have one before it got burnt in a fire accident that happened over 10 years ago. And since then she has been managing an hand-sewn cement-nylon as mat.
We asked to enter her room and she agreed, however, the room could barely contain the five of us due to the small-size and we could barely take quality pictures because it had only just a small window outlet. However, we took pictures of her dark asbestos which is a remain of the fire accident. She lives in a mud house with no power supply for 15 years.
When asked what Mama thinks about how a good society should be, Mama said a good society should have good roads, regular power supply, employment opportunities, and most importantly, accessible education. Mama said she had always wished for a government of the masses- just like Awolowo did in his days. And not just ‘JeguduJera’ in her own words.
The AAC/TIB Osun coordinators with Barrister Alfred Adegoke also paid a courtesy visit to her and further educated her about the inter-class war between the ruling Nigerian elites and the suffering masses, hence, she should not be swayed by bogus gifts or donations from the thieving political class. And she affirmed her stance to always identify with the oppressed and expressed interest to always participate in subsequent revolutionary programmes and protests if notified.
P.S: Mama doesn’t have an account number but efforts are ongoing to create one on Wednesday after the Sallah break. And the details of the account would be communicated afterwards for uniformity of donations. Also, Mama said she is more interested in seeing that her children become employed before her death.
