You cannot be paid as a consultant just because you are responsible for just an ailment, haba! consultant for HIV pharm, consultant Kidney nurse, consultant cosmetic cleaner, the whole thing should sound ridiculous to you (Hope you didn't chip in the HIV clause to scare me grin grin) After all doctors manage HIV patients too or your own HIV now have wings?

please If after your sojourn in the realm of HIV, Pharmacy et al, you cannot own a patient, then it is useless to us. NMA has been able to accept that responsibility and Nigerians are glad to give them the Badge and honor to go with.

Your attempt at winning the empathy of 'ordinary' patients has been betrayed by your own subsequent posts. Only the undiscerning will fail to see that you are indeed a Doctor.

That being said, I think one sure way out of this mess is privatization. That way, only those who truly have something to offer, including the doctors themselves; will find their way into any hospital. Only then can we begin to talk about putting the 'PATIENT' first. For now it's just politics and ego at work.

that is why i said enlightenment is a disease, and for people like you living in a power grab society, it becomes a curse. if a president is not performing, he is not performing, yes. but why wont the hausa fulani also own up to this dictum. why dont all ethnicities live by the same standards? you have a president who is not performing and you tel him so. on the other hand, they have a president that is not performing, and they keep mute.

it just means that except aleins come to rule us, they will always perpetuate their born to rule stranglehold on all else while you are living according to universally held principles of civilized conduct

You comments reek of tribal hatred, if everyone shared this same opinion of yours then we would never rise up from the deep mess we are in.

apache77: interesting...
enlightenment is a disease..
education is good, but can become a curse in a power grab society..

the north or will i say hausa-fulani are united in their cause to get back power at all means and their battle cry is- this president is not performing, so lets kick him out. so lets assume he is not performing and enlightened southerners who have seen that he is not performing all want him out too, joining their northern cohorts.

but lets turn the tables- you have a northern president who is not performing- no hausa fulani will raise a whimper. they will all unite behind their non performing President and support him to the death. apart from a few disenting voices, no major resistnace against his rule will come up- much the way the amaechi's and others have ganged against their fellwo southerner.

herein lies the tragedy of power politics in Nigeria and why the north have ruled over the south for many years- and why they will continue to ride roughshod over the south many years after GEJ is gone.

discerning southerners hinge their call for GEJ's ouster on non perfromance, a yardstick the northerners will still not meet when in power. so as a southerner- be you yoruba or ijaw- would you prefer to ruled by a non performer northerner or non performing southerner?

and pls dont bring PDP or APC into this

Pally, you need to change your ideas, we are moving beyond that point of short sightedness. If a President is not performing, then he is not performing finito! It doesn't matter what tribe he is. Dont preach this your position to the hungry Nigerian on the street please.

You are one of the very few that has tried to keep this train from derailing. I understand a lot of people are overly excited about the prospect of being contributory writers and in their bid to impress, have ended up making an otherwise interesting storyline rather boring and incoherent.
Please lets jumpstart the engine and get this train moving again.

rhymz: You are not getting the point here young man, that is the problem with an average Nigerian youngstar, many lack the ability to be holistic and thorough in their analysis of processes. I don't get excited by the mere thoughts of prospects and positive thoughts alone, there is a thing in business called contingencies i.e in simple terms, plan B, a method of controlling a process or at least stopping a situation from getting worse.
I operate a Poultry farm myself and trust me, the experiences you get from practice is nothing similar to what your instructor teaches you. For instance, for poultry experiences, there are diseases occassioned by wheather change that can kill all your birds in a matter of days, what happens then? Do you go to them and explain to them that all your birds just died like that? Who will believe you? Is it that idiot they call Prince Momoh that is so full of himself that he feels he has seen it all?
Let me give you another instance, my Uncle bought 2000 fingerlings and put in his pond, after like 2wks, palm fruits from a palm tree close to the fish ponds fell into the pond and guess what? They all died? Till as I write, my Uncle and the owner of the palm tree are at it threatening fire and brimstone. Imagine such eventualities happening to a person that has only borrowed a loan to do all these things only to face these kind of stuff, you run into troubles. This goes beyond whether you signed knowing fully well the consequencies, if actually it is a government programme to help empower this people, then it should not be set up in a way that benefactors are susceptible to falling into debts and troubles just in a bid to avail themselves the opportunities. You are just starting out, don't start acting like you have got it all figured out wait until you are able to start making profits and pay off the debt. Close to 500 people attend this programme, can they boast and say in every of the batches close to 90% of these people succed? And you know what happens when you donllt succeed? You become a helpless debtor. That is where contingencie would have helped to address. You guys need to stop getting unecccessarily excited, I have been in this business long enough to know that it is not black and white as sold to you learners.
When they want to get high on positivism the play videos of benefactors that have gotten the loan and kick start the business, they dont tell you if the person has been able to make profits, pay off the loan and still remain in business, do they?
Starting off does not mean you have succeeded my dear, anyone can start those agro businesses longevity is the true test of success. Besides, it is most likely that very few were even able to kick start the business what about the majority that couldn't? They unwittingly fall into a vicious cycle of debt. Then the next thing, their guarantors become agents of harrassment and government intimidation. Abeg relax jor, they need to be sincere with what they hope to achieve with the scheme, with the way it is presently constituted, they are turning more youngstars to debtors than they are helping to become self reliant. If you dou t me, tell them to publish their success and failure rates, you will be shocked to your marrow how these guys are getting people into debts in the guise of rendering help.

Rhymz, I'm really struggling to get your angle here. Except you want this 'loan' to become a 'grant' I think you may be expecting too much from the lender in terms of contingencies. Contingencies (like you call them) do happen even though we hope they don't,and when they do the lender may just be benevolent enough to restructure the loan to facilitate easier repayment, but it doesn't take away the fact that you owe some money. The risks here are quite high though, especially as most of the loan beneficiaries are first timers. I empathise with the op as he has not received the money yet but a Loan is a loan and good enough it is interest free.

Look men!!

I love Innoson Motors. That man is a true rep of what an Igbo Man can do if he sets his mind to something.

My only issue with Innoson is that his prices are ridiculous. Why would you be selling chinese cars which we all know its depreciation speed for the same price as a superior Korean, Japanese or even German car?!

Thats why you are more likely to see a Tata vehicle than see an Innosson car.

It would do you a lot more good if you learnt to look on the brighter side of things. Don't just run down other people's efforts just because you can. Good news though is that your pessimism alone cannot hurt the Innoson business one bit. Again I'd appreciate if you could show some proof the vehicles I see in these pictures are actually chinese products. Facs and figures dude, facts and figures!

His marketing strategy needs to change.

Reduce the price and add up to 3 year warranty or 100,000km (whichever comes first). Attract people with what you have to offer rather than rely of the government to give him some sort of monopoly on car sales in Nigeria..

Politics / Re: Lagos Won't Allow Other States Number Plates by tmontee: 11:08am On Oct 04, 2012
Delafruita:
A person who has chosen to make a living via transportation should be ready to obey the laws of that section.for example,if a person operates a bus on a personal basis and decides to convrt it to commercial purpose, the law states he must change the plate number to the red-coloured commercial plate number.is that double registration?for those who live in lagos and have fallen victim of the one chance menace,we appreciate this law.the lagos state government has sanitised and is still sanitising the transportation sector.almost all vehicles in lagos are now in the database due to the electronic vehicle license renewal system.this will definitely aid in fighting crime.besides it makes absolutely no sense to purchase a vehicle in lagos, register it in plateau and then use the vehicle in lagos.many of those vehicles never even visit the states their registration was done in.lagos state is showing us how it should be done and in my opinion, this should become the standard.vehicles should be registered in the states where the owner is resident

I quite agree with you. People should learn to look at the bigger picture, when all commercially operated vehicles are captured in the database it is easier to fight crime. People who have fallen victim to these charlatans before would appreciate this better. Like someone said, if this is what it would take to move Lagos state forward then so be it.

It seems to me that you are thinking outside a very small box still within another small box, otherwise you would get the message being passed tongue. Fyi, the state of the federal roads in the country today is no respecter of car types.
Politics / Re: The Most Intelligent And Eloquent Nigerian Governors by tmontee: 2:00pm On Sep 28, 2012
Nice thread but I have a problem with 'Intelligence' and 'eloquence' being on same line. These are traits that do not necessarily come together. One govenor who is very intelligent may lack eloquence while another who is eloquent could lack intelligence. You can easily tell an intelligent governor by looking at his works/performance, while the eloquent one stands out by his speech. When you have both traits in one governor, then you have an outstanding governor. In my opinion the only guys who belong here are Govs Fashola and Oshiomole(stand to be corrected though).
As for Intelligent govs:

1. Gov Akpabio
2. Gov Sullivan
3. Gov Amaechi

Eloquence?
1. Rochas
2. Fayemi
3. Babangida Aliyu

Celebrities / Re: Domestic Violence: Frank Edoho & Zaki Adzay Abused Ex-wives Speak Out (Video) by tmontee: 1:53pm On Sep 24, 2012
Benez: So what happens when d woman strikes first. Beside my house is this gentle man. Anytime they quarrel, d wife raises her voice and pple including me would say that useless irresponsible man has started beating his wife again. Not until d laSt quarrel when d man mentioned that that was d first time of beating his wife since they got married over 20 yrs ago. The woman actually slapped him first and he responded several times. The woman did not fault her husband's claim. The man said that was not d first time of receiving such slap from his wife but that he responded like that so that pple could know what he haS been passing through.

This man is a victim of domestic violence, no doubt. Many a woman have driven their husbands to early graves because of what they spew from their mouths. Some men would even prefer to hang-out in bars after close of work until drunk enough to insulate themselves from the verbal abuse that awaits them at home. I do not support violence against women (domestic or otherwise) but I'm of the opinion that women play a very critical role in the home setup such that they can very easily control what happens in the home. When a woman stoops she will certainly conquer her man and make him do whatever she wants. Afterall it is said that the man is the head of the home and the woman the neck. Can the head move except the neck permits?
