I won't believe your school have already sent out emails saying fall semester will be on campus. My school and the general consensus I see online still haven't decided on how fall semester will be. In order not to misinform the public, please provide a screenshot of such email

Yes, people must adapt and adapt protective measures but how will the world as a global village adapt? Will international borders open for non essential stuff like schooling without a vaccine? The US and Canada border is still closed, I can't go for my planned trip to Toronto.

Borders will likely be opened eventually but will the embassy open quick enough for students to process visa for fall semester which is barely 3 months away? I don't expect you or anyone to process stuff the way I process, it's what I do everyday so I understand.

P/S: Am a very positive person but I like to call a spade a spade

there is no way no international travel till next year. Some airlines and airport are already preparing to start operation. What will happen will be screening at the airport and full activities will resume when countries start to show zero infection rate. Australia airlines started some operation , I think same as New Zealand. For the Vaccine, don't bank on next year because that is a probability. Infact there is all possibilities that a vaccine won't even come or will come later, does it mean no one will travel again in the world. There would be measures to live with this covid, it has come to stay and it will be curtailed and mitigated with time. Many schools are also assuring students that fall will still happen or worse case scenario will be a defer or online classes for the first few months. US schools and US as a whole is very dependent on International students with the investment and money they bring in. As you can see Trump is trying to rush ways to open up the country so that the economy will be back to normal. As infection rates drop and cases goes to almost zero, nations will start resuming normal activities but with control measures. The world is going to learn to live with it because you can't bank on a vaccine. The politics and intricacies of vaccine are so much that there is no certainty for that. Moreover not all virus infection do have vaccines, sometimes vaccine trials do fail or go for years before it is achieved. So saying the world will wait for vaccine before activities starting is not just feasible because no one can tell when it will happen. The 18 months estimate is like the shortest time possibilities as best case scenario. You would ask what of those already given GA,RA, TA with full funding. And you know these are contracts which you have signed so the school has no right to rescind them

Ask your school to issue you the signed I-20 by the school DSO electronically. I know some students that received their I-20 electronically through email and embassy will honour it when consular activities resumes. It will also save you shipping cost too.

The US has evacuated it's citizens from Nigeria and closed their borders all over the world till further notice. Schools over here are contemplating online class in fall semester. Summer classes have already been scheduled for online only. Some schools are even thinking moving fall semester till January 2021.

My advice is chill. Everything is uncertain right now. If I was in your shoe I'll wait till things gets a little clearer before I make any move

I got an admission in the US, I just got the email. But now I'm having second thoughts. Based on the strict immigration laws and limited job choices due to type of Visa. I hear Canada doesn't have all these. Is it wise for me decline the admission in the US and apply to a school in Canada instead ?

(1) Once you have your I-20 handy, you can go on and book your visa interview. Any date from late April for Fall entry is within the 120 days to resumption of class so I guess you should be fine with any date from late April upwards to July.

(2) You don’t need any agent whatsoever. Once you’re able to pay your sevis fee, fill your DS-160 form and schedule your visa interview and prepare for your interview.

(3) The advise I will give you for your visa interview is to read through all the visa interview transcripts on here and model your own answer in a way peculiar to yourself.

Do I need an SOA for my Visa interview and the school is offering loan options, is that a safe path to thread?
