It won’t be processed. 14th and 15th July are also holidays here in France so this week is almost useless for visa processing. So all submitted applications this week will be processed from beginning of next week.

Yoruba Nation arrowhead, Prof Banji Akintoye, has urged the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, not to listen to Nigeria’s President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), but to visit scenes of herdsmen and terrorists’ attacks.

Akintoye also informed Guterres, who arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday for a two-day official visit, that the country is a failed state.

In a statement signed on Wednesday and made available to reporters by his Communications Manager, Maxwell Adeleye, Akintoye said Buhari has mismanaged Nigeria’s diversity and ethnicity by running a “government of the Fulani by the Fulani and for the Fulani.”

The statement was titled, ‘Your Visit to Nigeria, a charade if you don’t visit the theatres of the criminality of Fulani terrorists in South, Middle-Belt – Akintoye tells UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres’.

“Your Excellency cannot get the true picture of how close to the precipice Nigeria is unless you visit the theatres of the criminality of this government. Visit the Middle Belt, behold the atrocities of Fulani herdsmen and marvel. Visit the Southwest.

“Visit Ifon, also in Ondo State, whose traditional ruler was murdered by Fulani herdsmen. Visit Southern Kaduna where ethnic cleansing is a daily activity of the murderous Fulani nihilists. The same thing is happening in Taraba, Plateau, Niger, Ogun and Oyo states where Fulani herdsmen maim, rape, kill farmers and destroy farmlands in their land-grabbing drive across the southern region of the country.

“Your Excellency, the list is endless! And the atrocities have not abated. The Buhari administration refuses to allow the victims arm and defend themselves whereas the murderers are allowed to roam about with AK-47 looting, raping, maiming, and killing,” Akintoye was quoted as saying.

Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina says Nigerians should be thankful to God for not crossing the borders to look for food under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

“For those who look at only the downsides of things, under President Buhari, we can be thankful to God that we can feed ourselves, and not crossing the borders to look for food. All other things shall soon be added to us,” he said in an article titled, ‘Akinwunmi Adesina strikes again’ and shared on his official Facebook page on Thursday.

According to the Presidential spokesperson, the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr Akinwumi Adesina never comes empty-handed each time he visits Buhari.

“Anytime he traverses the land, air or sea like a troubadour, he must bring good tidings. Each time the Nigerian President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) comes to see President Muhammadu Buhari, he never comes empty-handed. He must bring goodies and goodies for his home country,” he said.

More statistics: ‘Price of wheat has soared in Africa by over 45% since the war. Prices of fertilizers have gone up by 300%, and the continent faces a fertilizer shortage of 2 million metric tons. If unmet rapidly, food production in Africa will decline by 20%, and the continent would lose over $11 billion in value of food production.’ Holy Moses!

“The AfDB boss quoted the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, who had said: ‘We are now facing a perfect storm that threatens the economies of developing countries.’ If there’s anything President Buhari is concerned about, it is that Nigerians should be able to feed themselves, without recourse to massive food importation.

“That was why he encouraged us to return to the land, put his money where his mouth is by funding agriculture massively, and today, we have a lot to be thankful for. Food security is almost a reality in the country. But because the world is now a global village, and no nation is an island, the Russian-Ukraine war could still affect some fundamentals of our food security. So, what to do? Fortunately, we have our own ‘export’ to the world at the AfDB. He unfolded what he has in store for Africa, and for Nigeria, our own dear native land.”

The Niger state government has declared a total lockdown in the state for two weeks from Monday, April 13.

Governor Abubakar Bello made the declaration while briefing journalists after an extensive, emergency executive meeting at the government house Minna on Saturday.

He said the decision became necessary after the confirmation of one positive case of COVID-19.

He disclosed that the patient is a returnee from Lagos state and resides at Limawa community in Minna.

Governor Abubakar Bello said Limawa community will also be in isolation for the two weeks period with health workers engaged to sensitize members of the community within the period.

All religious gatherings in churches and mosques have been suspended till further notice, the Governor said.

He regretted the earlier decision by the state government to relax the restriction order that was in place was taken for granted by citizens without regard to social distancing and necessary hygienes.

Governor Abubakar Bello said the state government is liaising with local tailors association in the state for production of face masks in view of the scarcity of the items.

He also said health workers would also be engaged at strategic points with thermometers to carry out regular temperature tests.

The Governor, who said palliatives would be provided to the poorest in the society, warned politicians not to hijack the items by the time they are released
