The Director General, National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Halilu Shaba has stressed the need for the liberalization of the Space Science and Technology industry with the private sector as key players in order to actualise the full benefits of the Nigeria Space Programme for socio-economic development of our great country.
He made this known in Abuja while receiving a delegation from Proforce Limited during a courtesy visit by the top management of company led by its Group Managing Director at the Agency’s Headquarters.
Dr. Shaba who appreciated the delegation for the timely visit, explained that the Space Agency is receptive towards solution-driven Companies that have the required economic force and requisite strength to secure Nigeria’s pride of place among other nations in the Space sector.
The NASRDA Boss who expressed delight on the achievements and success stories of the Proforce Limited assured the delegation of the Agency’s capabilities both technically and professionally, to ensure the realisation of the proposed partnership in line with NASRDA’S stipulated mandate without any form of compromise.
Dr Shaba emphasised that the agency, despite its challenges is legitimately empowered to provide the needed Technology, infrastructure and manpower to facilitate the innovations and solutions that the proposed partnership provides for the betterment of the quality of life of Nigerians and the African continent in general.
The Director-General assured the delegation of the agency’s support in collaborating with them on mutual interests that will be valuable to both parties. The NASRDA boss therefore approved the immediate commencement of necessary activities and procedures for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Space Agency and Proforce Limited.
The Group Managing Director of Proforce Limited, Mr. Ade Ogundeyin in his remarks appreciated the Director General for the unique reception accorded his delegation on such short notice. He highlighted the numerous achievements of the company which he described as complimentary to the noble goals and objectives of the Space Agency.
He unveiled the numerous efforts and achievements of the company, particularly on its intention to collaborate with the Space Agency in improving the security architecture and artificial intelligence of Defence in the country. According to him, NASRDA is a worthy partner with the essential abilities for real-time surveillance and joint development of the Nigerian Space sector.
Mr Ogundeyin explained that Proforce Limited is a total Defence solution provider, specialized in armoured vehicles and personal protection.
