Cutehector: ah ah, informed abt what? Dnt dey knw its normal dat beauty pargents will put on bikini at some point in d pergeant contest? Its not smth one should be informed.. Common sense will tell dem dat...
Its like goin to a beach and wearin buba and wrapper.. Isn't it madness... When u knw very well dat there is a dresscode for d beach... Forget common sense, common sense is base on existence and status quo. Perhaps in the previous events, none has bikini wearing. If they'd known there would be bikini, thy wouldn't have registered. Moreover, the competition is Miss Nigeria Germany contestants. They could have thought the competition is majorly Nigerian. Bikini is alien to us. As for the beach issue, the first time i went to a beach (Lekki) was for an excursion. Some of our ladies wore wrapper to the beach from her. It was not MADNESS, it was more of IGNORANCE |

Cutehector: Stvpid girls.... Why did dey even register for it in d first place... Iranu the same thing i said when i saw the headings. We could as well ask if they were informed before the event if they were informed prior there is going to be bikini costume. Perhaps they were not informed. |

yes o, during my secondary school days.
i was just promoting to JSS2 that time, in a summer lesson before the beginning of the new session. The girl came from Ibadan that time to spend her holiday with her cousins, She was in Jss 3. one of her cousins(Sade) was my mate and seat partner in the school then and i did oppress and ride her.
On this fateful day, Sade abused me in class. On her way home, i went to waylay her and slapped her, before i could raise my hand to lace her another slap, 2 slaps sounded on me, it was from my classmate's cousin. I wanted to pull off my shirt to fight her, before i could succeed getting off the shirt, the two girls had rushed me and i met myself on the ground, one of them sitting on me. i could not see who between the two girls was sitting on me cos the numerous feminine punches and slaps had set my organs of sight in a disabling mode. My friends making jest of me later told me it was my classmate sitting on me like being in a canoe, paddling my face with slaps and punches.
i managed to stand up after they were done with me and next thing i saw was my friends laughing, my tear glands were activated straight off. While my friends were jokingly asking me why i was crying, i told them that "i am crying' cos my mum would beat me for having my shirt dirty and not because i was beaten by the sisters.
Till the girl left our school for Osun State School of sciene after JSS3, i dared not misyearn to her again. In fact, she was even the one ridding me, a case of "bushmeat catching the hunter". |

beejaychinedu: The proprietor of Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Dr Rahmon Adegoke Adedoyin, is a prince from Ile-Ife (Agbedegbede/ Oshinkola) Akui Ruling House. His developmental strides, particularly in the cradle of Yoruba land, prompted the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, to honour him with the chieftaincy title of the Maye of Ife. Adedoyin also owns a university in the United States and two polytechnics in Nigeria among other investments. In this interview, he speaks about the problems and prospects of education in Nigeria and how history and tradition favour him to emerge as the next Ooni of Ife. How the journey began This bold vision started about 35years ago when I was an undergraduate at the then University of Ife. I was approached by a particular lecturer to coach his child in Mathematics. The success I recorded with that child led to his introducing me to a number of his other colleagues. By the time I graduated, I had established a fairly large home lesson such that I d He is from the maternal lineage to the throne, not paternal. He seems not to be entitled to the throne. |

Sanchez01: You know, as much as I don't support the killing of others just because someone passed on, our culture is worth protecting (maybe they modify some aspects).
The world is outgrowing nothing. China, despite boasting a wealthy economy, is highly cultural. We cannot totally take some parts away just because it restricts certain things. Believe me, the burial of the Ooni would witness the presence of tourists who would want to see how events play out during a king's burial.
Final, our maintenance culture as a people is very bad. Majority of the so-called museums around are filled with different types of rocks, rather than pictures of past way of life that depicts how we used to live.
Culture is still important to us, no matter how vain we may think it is. Culture is worth protecting, I don't and won't dispute that brother, I believe you understand many cultural practices were drawn base on the time frame and applicable to that time. China is rich in culture, but not all their previous cultural practices are retained not because of free will, but the retardation they will cause on the growth of the economy. Historically, China has all it takes to be the world power centuries ago, why are they just joining the force now? China could have dominated the North American continent before the Europeans, only that they weren't interested in the world out theirs. Some cultural practices retards development, especially the ones stagnating the economy. My post you quoted was actually targeting the part where all marketing activities should be paralysed for 7days. |
