I think some of these cultural rights and traditions should be done away with or be le think ss intense with.
The world is outgrowing this, why trying to be stuck to the past and not embracing the future?
Ya, we need to observe the culture and tradition, not to the extent of total paralyzing of commercial activities |

It won't be surprising waking up tomorrow to read Bode George's response to what the Lagos PDP boss said. Saying "Bola Tinubu caused Lagos PDP downfall, not me"
Since everything happening to him now on earth is as a result of Bola Tinubu's activities and existence. |

barcanista: Dear All,
It has become necessary to draw the consciousness of esteemed members (and guests) of this forum on the recent ploy by supporters of the APC to malign my image and misrepresent my position on issues using clone moniker "barcansta". It is over 3 hours since I drew the attention of the moderators to the shameful development yet no action has been taken. Instead, the parody account has been allowed unrestricted privileges as it goes about with its devilish scheme.
I understand that supporters and fans of the ruling APC are never at ease whenever "Barcanista" and other patriotic "Wailers" create threads and post comment(s) to enlighten Nigerians as part of our patriotic role as opposition. It is however unfortunate that the APC will adopt sinister scheme in their bid to further deceive the gullible and misrepresent the members of the umbrella family.
It is my prayer that moderators Lalasticlala, Ishilove and Obinocopy step in to arrest the ugly situation before it gets out of hand. Pending when such action will be taken, Nairalanders and Guests should note that Barcanista, was registered on May 01, 2013. He is an unapologetic fan and supporter of the PDP, and a Proud member of the Patriotic Wailers. Whoever find any disturbing comment from a "strange" Barcanista should check the profile of the "poster" and check date of registration.
Finally, I want to appeal to Nairaland administrator (Seun) to wade in and save his forum from clones and parodies.
May God Bless Us All May God Bless Nigeria May God Bless People's Democratic Party bro, I'm not sorry to tell you that you aren't serious! This is a norm here, you aren't the 1st and won't be the last! |

chimkaire: ...in this case, is he wrong I'm not saying he is wrong! it is very rare and very uncommon in Yorubaland seeing Oba leading a protest. Oba will rather be in his palace and give out royal support, not leading the struggle. The Oba of Aramoko seems to be an activist and will be a better activist than this if he isn't a king. So evident the throne is curbing his activism. There is nothing bad in it. |

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, who was on the presidential delegation at a meeting with US Attorney General Loretta Lynch, later told Nigerians that US officials revealed that one of Mr. Jonathan’s ministers, whom he did not name, stole as much as $6 billion. Even though Mr. Oshiomhole did not disclose the name of the concerned minister, checks by SaharaReporters revealed that the rapacious former minister is Diezani Alison-Madueke who held the portfolio of Petroleum for most of Mr. Jonathan’s tenure. Ms. Alison-Madueke is currently in London Umaru Dikko, Very Powerful Transport Minister under Sheu Shagari, was alledged to have looted Nigerian fund. He went to London and an attempt to kidnap him into the country was made in 1984. Alison Madueke, A very powerful minister under GEJ, has been alledged to have stolen $6billion and now in London for 'treatment'. Mohammadu Buhari was the President in 1984 and returned as the President now. Shall we be expecting another episode of 1984 Umaru Dikko(Umaru Dikkess, cos a woman this time) on Alison Madueke from the same London? |

Would 've been fun to travel to Ogun state and 've a first hand experience of the rites just for the sheer thrills of it and for the sake of knowledge, but there's a curfew and even if there wasn't, I don't think I'd 've still been chanced to attend. But I'm very curious as a fan of African cultures, though a Christian. Will appreciate it if you can shade more light on the subject I don't know about the 'oro' sir, if just for the king's demise. Awo boys are just catching their own fun. |

JingoOAU: Meet the Nigerian who led Gatwick Airport Acquisition! A Nigerian, Adebayo Ogunlesi, has acquired the London Gatwick Airport as the new owner. The Gatwick deal is a £1.455 billion agreement with BAA Airports Limited. Adebayo Ogunlesi, 56, is the chairman and managing partner, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), an independent investment fund based in New York City with worldwide stake in infrastructure assets,is the new owner of the London Gatwick Airport.
The Nigerian who led Gatwick Airport Acquisition attended prestigious King’s College, Lagos. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association. He was a lecturer at Harvard Law School and the Yale School. Ogunlesi, whose father was the first Nigerian-born medical professor, studied philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford and then earned law and business degrees from Harvard. Ogunlesi has lived in New York for 20 years and is active in volunteer work. But he also cultivates his ties to Africa. He informally advises the Nigerian government on privatisation. The late Manute Bol, former NBA center, visited Ogunlesi in his Park Avenue office, seeking donations for a charitable foundation in former basketball star Manute Bol’s homeland, Sudan. Ogunlesi walked the late Bol around the hallways, introducing him to junior staff. It was just another day in the Bayosphere. Prior to his current role, he was executive vice chairman and chief client officer of Credit Suisse, based in New York. He previously served as a member of Credit Suisse’s Executive Board and Management Council and chaired the Chairman’s Board. Previously, he was the Global Head of Investment Banking at Credit Suisse. Since joining Credit Suisse in 1983, Ogunlesi has advised clients on strategic transactions and financings in a broad range of industries and has worked on transactions in North and South America, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
In the US, he is known as the Nigerian who clerked for late Supreme Court justice, Thurgood Marshall, who they say was unable to pronounce his name and quickly dubbed him Obeedoogee. Colleagues and friends call him Bayo. Ogunlesi is very much in touch with developments in his homeland Africa. In Nigeria, as an informal adviser to former president Olusegun Obasanjo, Ogunlesi has been known to advise successive governments on fiscal policies, economic development and strategic management…. Amongst other things has been involved in…AFC, IFC it was AFC that led Africa’s participation in the $750 million syndicated lending facility to develop Ghana’s Jubilee Oil Field, which is deemed one of West Africa’s largest deep-water offshore developments in over a decade. source |
