Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Advice Needed:best Country For Nigerian-trained Doctors To Migrate To??? by tolulope9009: 10:10am On Nov 17, 2019
Laird:

I am a Doctor not an agent

As quoted in the above post

Saudi"# 3 years post graduation requirement

There are 2 known Agents used by their government 1 male 1 female.....

Someone 1 know used male, Someone else I know used Female

Prefer the male, my ex friend had somesome slight delays with the female agent..
But he is in Saudi now mainly gp jobs

Saudi Ministry Of Health Affairs pays for tickets

You have to pay the agents, they will tell You about Medical screening, certifying your certificates and transcripts with nigerian ministry of foreign affairs, and getting You jobs

Hello Laird..

I know this post was put up quite a while back. I would really appreciate if I can get both agents' contacts as I am keenly interested.

Thank you.

Hmm.....not sure thats totally correct cos it is part of my antenatal drugs and was scheduled for me to use once every month until October. I'm due early November. Unfortunately, I didn't bring it along with me to Yankee hence d reason I asked on this thread. Any particular reason u mentioned it is not supposed to be used after 36wks?? @firsttymum

I believe firsttymmum is right.. reason being that fansidar has this side effect- jaundice in the baby especially in the last few weeks of pregnancy because of its Sulphur component. Moreso, it isn't a routine drug; preferably taken in the late first and second trimester (meaning two doses in the entire 10months of pregnancy) as prophylaxis against malaria.

Nairaland family, I am back with my POE experience..

Boarded Ethiopian airways from Abuja with a stop over at Addis Ababa. Ample space to stretch and sleep. Good food, entertainment, cabin, and service. After the 2hours stop over, boarded another to Washington Dulles airport (IAD). Now, that was packed with passengers. Service still top notch. Bombarded me with food and drinks to a point I started declining politely.

Fast forward to IAD...
Arrived at 8:45am in the morning.. took about 15minutes to get to immigration as it appeared few flights came in at that time.

My mum and I approached the CBP:
Me: Good morning and passed on our passports.
CBP: Good morning. Why are you in the united states?
Me: To have my baby.
CBP: Is this your first time in the United states?
Me: Yes.
He looks at my mum and asks the same question.
CBP looks back at me: Is this your first baby?
Me: Yes
CBP: Is this the first baby you are having in the united states?
Me: Yes, this is my very first pregnancy.
CBP: So why US?
Me: Better healthcare services (in my mind, cliché answer)
CBP: Where is your husband?
Me: Back home in Nigeria.
CBP: Will he be coming over to join you?
Me: No. He is busy with work. If anything, maybe later.
CBP: What does he do?
Me: He is a .....
CBP: Will your mum be returning back to Nigeria soon?
Me: We intend leaving together after baby is born as she is here to assist me in taking care of the baby.
CBP: How many months are you now and when do you intend going back?
Me: 7months plus. Told him my return date.
CBP: Please, move to the side and let me see your tummy
Me: surprised.. did as he said
CBP: Ok then. So what do you do?
Me: I am a medical doctor
CBP: What field aŕe you in?
Me: Paediatrics
CBP: How long have you been practicing? To which I replied, 6years.
CBP: Do you have your certificate with you? I said, No, but I do have my ID card. Asks to see it.
CBP: HOW much do you have on you?
Me: 1000dollars in cash and some in cards (showed it to him). My husband is the sponsor.
CBP: How much is in your husband's account?
Me: Bleep in naira. He asks for it in dollars which I couldn't quickly convert so I said it's more than 2times the amount I've set aside for this delivery and told him the total of my budget sheet.
CBP: Do you have an idea how much it takes to have a baby here?
Me: Yes I do. Gave him the breakdown of the costs of the hospital bill for both vaginal and cesarean section deliveries, doctor's bill..
CBP: Have you chosen your method of delivery and have you considered the number of days you will be at the hospital?
Me: Haven't chosen a method as one can't predict how labour will go and yes, for VD it is 2days and CS it is 3days inclusive of the hospital bill.
CBP: Did you bring meat, snails, fresh vegetables?
Me: No. Brought dried vegetables and some other things including provisions
CBP: What are provisions?
Me: (Hian! in my mind). Started listing them.
CBP: Stamps our passports till April 2017. Make sure you pay your bills and get a zero balance from your doctor and hospital. You know what I mean, right?
Me: Yes I do. Thank you sir.
The above (that seemed like a secondary inspection) occured at the counter while standing.

After getting our luggage thinking the questioning was all over, we met another official (2nd CBP) close to the exit who asked to see our passports. She asked for my purpose of visit and how much I had on me to which I gave the same answers. Asked if I had insurance and I said I will be paying out of pocket. She then said, so why am I with just 1000dollars. Reiterated I had some in cards and will get some funds transfer if need be. She immediately told us to follow her. That one was tertiary and not secondary inspection.

3rd CBP: Same generic question to which I answered; childbirth
A 4th CBP showed up: How many months are you?
Me: 7months plus.
CBP: Good. You aren't so far.
Me: (in my mind.. what?! meaning)
CBP: How much do you have in your account for this since you have just 1000dollars in cash?
Me: Same answer I gave the 1st CBP.
CBP: Go and sit till you are called..

After 20minutes or thereabout (seemed like a lifetime ), I was called to the counter.
4th CBP asked for my profession, how long I plan to stay, and my return date. All these I answered. Stamped on my declaration card and advised me about payment and said I was free to go. I practically ran out of that hall...

5th official checked that stamped declaration card with my passport , collected the former and then said loudly with a smile: Congratulations and welcome to America!!

Agriculture didn't seize a single item from my many African goodies ( although over-zealous customs in Abuja collected my frozen palm oil ).

Phew!!! Thank God ooo...!!!!!-- The Way maker.
More good news to follow..
Thank you once again, my nairaland family.

Print the Form online, fill it but don't sign. Go with your Int'l passport as a means of identification. Just stroll into the embassy Mon-Fri before 12 noon. The process takes about 15-30mins (waiting time inclusive)

please, is it only international passport that they accept as ID at the US embassy?

Good day, Nairaland family..!
Been looking forward to sharing my experience here like most..
I am a first time mummy and I had my visa interview today.
It went thus:
VO: Good morning, ma'am.
I: Good morning.
VO: Are you having more than one baby?
I: No, just one
VO: Who are you going to stay with in the US?
I: I am going to stay with my friend (name) and she resides in Richmond Virginia.
VO: What do you do for a living?
I: I am a medical Dr who works in a Government hospital (mentions the name)
VO: What is your area of specialty?
I: Told her I am yet to be fully specialised but currently work in the paediatrics department.
VO: But why will you as a medical Dr leave your hospital and seek care elsewhere especially in the United States? (looking perplexed)
I: I said: For one: I have first hand knowledge of how the system works here due to my profession and with this knowledge I made my decision to have my baby in US. Also, I discussed with my obstetrician before embarking on this and he is in full support. Moreover, I am well travelled and I know that US has the most reputable medical practise in the world.
VO: What is the cost of this trip to you?
i: Mentioned $10k and was trying to list the items on my budget sheet before she cut me off by saying:
VO: I do not think that amount is close to what you would require for delivery in the States.
I: That waa what I got from my research and enquiries- told her I contacted the hospital (mentioned the name) as well as the Dr (mentioned his name) and I was given an estimate.
VO: How much do you earn?
I: I earn ....
VO: but what you earn is barely enough (she mentally converted it to naira and said the dollar equivalent)
I: I know ma'am and that is why my husband is the sponsor not me.
VO: Has your husband been to the US before?
I: No ma'am
VO: what does he do?
I: He is into real estate (describes what he does specifically) and also into agriculture (gives details as well)
VO: How much is in your husband's account as well as yours?
I: Told her
VO: May I see your bank statement?
I: Mine or his?
VO: His (handed it over and scrutinised it thoroughly)
VO typed for what seemed like an eternity.. didn't realise I was sweating even with the a/c. My kabashing no get part 2. I was claiming the white paper (even though I didn't see it in plain sight). It was the pink that was staring at me in the face.
Next I heard... Your visa had been approved.. didn't know when I tuned out from excitement .. Had to ask her to, please, repeat the rest of what she said.. She advised I not take medicaid and I should carry my husband's bank statement along to POE and if for any reason I cannot make full payment at once, I should make an arrangement with the hospital but settle all my bills eventually so as not to jeopardise future visa applications.
It was not a walk in the park but it was obviously my God @ work!!!
Sorry for the long post. Now on to PTA and very affordable flight hustle to Richmond Virginia.
Please, nefertitiram, I am loyal, ma....
More great news to follow...
Thank you, wonderful people of Nairaland!!

Hi Tolulope! I used Dr. W.F. too. For the Hosp, pre-payment was done over the phone after i had pre-registered. To pre-register you have to do that online. Google the Hosp's name and surf around it, you'll find where to pre-register;while i paid the Dr. at his office by swiping my card.

I hope this helps.
