I see some people cant read, where is it asked to justify it with Nigeria, I am ashamed of people not able to read and comprehend and act otherwise.

Your brothers in Africa, hmmm - I assume you are black, a monkey by birth, and you have now changed your animal type and denounce "your monkey brothers" -right? Noone is asking to compare it with anywhere else, monkey.

pls post the same statistics in the two democracies that you have lived in and let us make honest comparisons. that is, let us know how much it costs them to maintain the legislature as per allowances etc, this will allow us to compare and contrast the cost of democaracy.

Foreign Affairs / How British Mps Eat Tax Payers Money, This One Is Super Smart Corruption. by tombola: 12:19pm On May 13, 2009
In Britain, if you want to eat tax payers money, just make bogus claims and you will be paid back, example of bogus claims are:

Someone makes claim for ironing his trousers

Someone makes claim for watching pornography

Someone makes claim for going to a court summon for evading council tax

Someone makes claims for telephone bills.

etc etc

Noone is asking you to compare it with Nigeria, but, is this not corruption in a grand way?

still the same answe- who gives the hell if you think Naija is a failed state, if you think it is madness or if you want to give up on it, that is a single opinion which is not worth the pages of the internent on which they are written talkless of spending any more moment convincing you or debating it with you.

I assume if you are not a "Naija Britico", you were born, raised and bred in the same madness, does it mean all your people are mad and over 120 million people live in madness hence they are mad?

Nigerians are enemies of progress to themselves - never wanting anything good said about their country.

Politics / Re: I May Give Up On Nigeria Soon by tombola: 6:59pm On May 12, 2009
I hear the Nuzo guy lost on opportunities with a few politicians in Nigeria, this is why he is bitter, he has nothing to do with love for Nigeria or anything like dat. He is an ibo boy who is bitter he hasnt has enough of the national cake, nothing more, nothing less.,

As if you cant read - Nuzo/Samparian

Those that matters have been defined, defined properly and you can never be counted amongst them, not even in the life to come.

Akpangbon:

@Nuzo

You know for yourself that you dont maytter, so, no question here. The people that matter in Nigeria knows themselves, you dont even vote, before you say your reasons for not voting, keep them to yourself, the people that matter are those citizens who toil and labour day and night, who pay their taxes, who do their normal civic responsibilities to the nation Nigeria, these are the people that matters, not one run away exiled goon in one corner of the world who sees nothing good in the country Nigeria, he surely doesnt matter.

Boy, no other way to say it better, you have nailed him this time.

By now your head would have swollen to heights un imaginable, because you are a pessimistic person, I wonder if the chinese people who you now live with, if they had given up on their country years ago, I wonder if you would possibly now ever find a place to abode, like I said, it is not only enough to give up on Nigeria, do it quick so we can know the people remaining, noone will loose any sleep if you give up on Nigeria.
Politics / Re: I May Give Up On Nigeria Soon by tombola: 9:19pm On May 11, 2009
Kobojunkie:

@Nuzo, I am not going to sit here and tell you how, because less than 7% of 140 million (even though we have no proof that that percentage has changed much in the last 2 decades) can boast of a decent life, things are changing for good in Nigeria. Neither am I going to tell you that if you follow your heart by going back to contribute to change things in your local area that things will change tomorrow. I can however tell you that whatever you feel you can do, do it for the sake of your own soul. Do it so you can at least tell your own children and grandchildren what you did and how far you were willing to go to see things change in that country.

You are right, on a whole things are not moving forward in Nigeria. Some people will come in to try to swell your head with stories of how people like Fashola, and some other guys are doing “marvelous” work. The very same do not understand that at the end of the day, the more we continue to depend on this small group to change things, only a tiny fraction of people will be positively impacted by this, but at the end of the day, if we do not step up to make sure these changes will endure even after these men have been replaced, we will likely lose the little development, only for the cycle to continue. This has been the reality in Lagos for the past 30 years.

Nigeria is a country of over 140 million people; many of whom live in states where there are next to no development or change in site. Lagos alone is a state of about 15 million people that is about 10% of the population of the state. At the end of the day, about 30% of the people in that state will be able to boast of a better life (and no, I do not mean access to good roads and cleaner air cause at the end of the day, a hungry man does not care much for those things in his anger), but we will still have over 100 million people living in Nigeria under very poor conditions and with little access to decent living, let alone opportunities for better life. Worse yet we still do not have measures in place to ensure that when the man is gone, all his work will not be in vain. And for those who will come in to claim the same man is definitely working to make sure that does not happen, I say, if you know anything of government in Nigeria, you would know that he is limited in his power to control what will happen when he is gone. You only need to consult history of the state to understand that simple fact.

However, I will say that I believe in the power of the people and I do believe that if the people are truly ready for change, they can turn that power into something positive, if they are only willing to overlook differences and focus more on the goal. No one can guarantee that things will change in the next 2 decades. For all we know, five years from now, Nigeria might disintegrate in to civil war; yes, it is possible. And no, we do not need to dream of war for it to happen, just as we never needed to dream of life without power for that to happen.

I do know that we are all responsible for the problem. From the politicians who get into office and then start bombarding us with excuses for why they are unable to do their job for Nigeria to the average Nigerian who believes that if Mr. A gets a nice house, it is sign that Nigeria as a nation is getting better, never mind that during the same time Mr. B, and Mr. C who used to have good lives suddenly joined the line of destitute. And I believe that not until we are able to speak with a unified voice will we see change of any sort.

I am willing to admit that we do not have even a 50% guarantee that if we all decided to put in $1000 of our own money and time, that things will definitely change, so I am not going to ask you to contribute towards the good of the nation, Nigeria. But I will suggest that you focus on your legacy and what you want your kids and grandchildren to know of you as a human being. This is one of the reasons why I am not anti tribalism; definitely, there is the bad, but I do wish people would at least stop spewing claims of having pride in their ethnicity but act by proving it to us in some way. If a man was truly proud of his family, he would show it to the world by doing all he can to provide for his family and make sure they do not lack in anything. This way when people hear him, they know for a fact that he means what he says.

If however, the burden is just too heavy, please feel free to let it go and live your life as wonderfully as you can ooO!!

ps: ramblings put together in between meetings, if you have questions ask! if you are just another slowpoke with issues, skip it!!

The only way to give up quicker is to die before Nigeria eventually "dies" - why not put a bullet hole in your own head to quicken this process and see if you'll be missed?
