Mikey2880: Goodevening Please I need you guys to help a friend out here. She got her medical call on Monday and went for her medicals on Wednesday but got a call back yesterday and they ran some tests today and found out she is HIV positive and she’s literally losing it. Her application has been in process for quite sometime now and she thinks she’s going to be refused on this grounds. Please does anyone know what happens to a HIV positive patient’s application? Hmmm this is a new one, well i sympathize with her on the outcome of her result but just to clarify did u say they called her from the hospital where she did her medicals? if so i think the questions should be directed to the hospital, she should ask them what her faith is, they are surely in the best position to advise her but i doubt if they will allow her proceed to canada just my thoughts though. |

Arebo: Long post alert!
1st app: Submitted: 23/6/17 Refused: 31/8/17 2nd app: Submitted: 18/10/17 Refused: 15/11/17 Thanks to everyone, I finally picked up my passport, here is to correct the notion that I was being negative even before I submitted my 2nd application by asking if after tackling issue of funds which was the only reason for the first denial 'Lump sum deposit' as seen on the gcms note, I asked solely because I didn't put in for masters as I am a nurse and masters in nursing is not open to international nurses, so I opted for Pgc in nursing (Enhanced Nursing Practice), I gave my application another shot because I was initially refused based on just funds, picked up my refusal note now to see: 1. Purpose of visit 2. Travel history 3. Personal asset and financial status 4. Employment situation Finances wasn't ticked this time, Safe to say, a different VO reviewed and saw my app as not justified for approval, it all balls down to the level/choice of course. This forum has sure made me stronger, this forum gave me hope to even put in for the 2nd application, not getting approved is devastating but please let the pain make you better and not bitter, thanks to everyone & I wish all applicants the best. Signing Out! sorry about your refusal again. Most likely a fresh picked up your app like you and just saw something else. However if i may ask what did you do differently in your second app? Did you add a LOE? Did you change your SOP? Did you pay fees? I still believe you should apply for GCMS and give it another shot |

Arebo: Thanks....lol...I remember asking if one could get denied again after tackling 'lump sum' issue, like I saw this coming, no energy for 3rd application, guess God got other plans. For you to have been asking that question you were already negative about it from the first instance. Thats not a good spirit at all you have to be positive at all times. you need to find that energy for your next shot and believe me you will thank me next year |

Arebo: No.... not immediately, I ordered for gcms note and reason was just recent lump sum deposit from unknown source, tackled & applied again with the same documents & Medical, guess it's a different reason this time again....God knows best How did you address your lump? and hope you also addressed insufficient funds generally. Because lump sum is always perceived by the V.O as borrowed money into the account just to get TRV. 1) Did you provide proof of the lump sum? 2) Did you open a or transfer to a personal dorm account your living expenses from the account the lump sum was noticed? 3) After your first delay, Did you pay 1 year tuition out of the account the lump sump was noticed to show that the money is actually for your study 4) Did you provide an updated sponsor letter stating the origin of lump and what he has done afterwards as fresh evidence and financial commitment after the first delay (maybe pay balance of your tuition or provide bank letter) 5) After your first delay did you estimate how the total funds available to you will be spent If all the above was done and you still got delayed the second time then i support the motion that you should contact them to re-open your case. All in all please don't give up its has been said here that financial reasons is the easiest to tackle so don't throw away your wonderful written SOP, your admission, the stress to gather all documents, time wasted, and dreams because of funds that you no is genuinely available to you Am seeking GOD in my next application too. Gurus can also add this is just my understanding Regards |

Arebo: Funny post! For the past four days, Bn reading people's stories here on a lowkey & commenting, submitted my 2nd application on oct 18th, for some funny reason, I didn't link it online this time around because of the emotional stress, I decided to link online tonight but my mind told me to track it first & see what's up, app shows that passport has been dispatched since 15th, with no approval mail, safe to say...I love canny but maybe God has better plans...it is well @Arebo, We don't accept defeat here you need to be strong other for your GCMS note and re-fire we have heard approval of after the 3rd attempt on this forum. You have started your canadian dream and am sure you now no the in and out of the process. Just try one more time and am sure it shall end in praise. |

Nzo1: Greetings Bosses, you guys are doing a terrific job here. I was a silent follower on this thread for long but I reached out to guys here when my first TRV application was refused back in July. My second application has just been approved. We Bless God!
Here's my timeline:
M.Eng (Electrical Engineering, MUN)
1st Application: May 5th, 2017 (Paper route), linked it online. Refused: July 7th, 2017 (Insufficient Funds for tuition fees, Purpose of Visit, & Travel History) Ordered GCMS Notes immediately and it arrived on August 9th, 2017. VO said i was being sponsored by a third party (my cousin), limited evidence of relationship on file, limited travel history and weak evidence of personal financial establishment.
Meanwhile, it was a fully funded admission, i had to stress that in my second application while also tackling the above reasons.
Second Application: August 28th, 2017 (Paper route), linked it online. Medical passed like three weeks later (same upfront medical i used for the first application) Application updated November 14th, 2017. Approved (I checked my profile the night before (13th) and review of eligibility had not started)
Special shout out to @Thesoj; As soon as i got my admission in March 2017, one of my guys in Canada advised me to read all your posts from the beginning and i did, very enlightening. Thanks Boss.
Very big thank you to @Maziude 1 of Ottawa who reviewed my LoE and pointed out areas where i sounded desperate, Lol. Thanks Boss!
Special thanks to @Austinpee4, @Mcobex & @Jnyuwa02 for their inputs and advice on how to tackle my refusal reasons. I'm grateful.
I believe my Scholarship was overlooked in the review of my first application because of the way i filled the financial section of my first application form but @Osemigho's post on that subject ensured that i didn't make the same mistake twice. Thank you bro!
I'm happy to answer any questions and to help anybody in need of some guidance.
Cheers Bosses. Hello, Congrats on your approval i was also denied based on financial reason V.O stated a lump sum seen however i have paid my full 1 year tuition and i have also open a dorm account for my living expenses can you advise on how to fill my financial section Tuition fully paid 1year -15,445 (please note my program is 2 years ) Newly opened Dorm account- 10,500 USD equivalent to 13,500 CAD @Nzo1 i would mind if u can assist with some lines to include in my LOE please revert so i can pm you @Nzo1 and Gurus please advice on how to fill financial part |

Hello people,
I was denied based only on financial reasons, the V.O stated in GCMS note that he noticed a lump sum. I initially paid half a year of my tuition, but after my denial, i proceeded to pay the full 1 year tuition and trying to reapply. Would it be right if i include my previous visa to kenya in my old passport as i did not include it before and the V.O did not mention i have not travel out before, i only included my wife travel history to the UK and mum to. And apart from explaining the lump sum and paying full one year tuition fees how else can i prove my financial capabilities to the V.O
Please note my study duration is 16 months |

osento: What I mean by that was, for the 6minths SOA such a high inflow was not recorded, and just 1month to submission of application ,you had an inflow of 4.6m and he submitted 7.8m. To me I won't pull such stunt, you simply gave the VO more attention to your SOA.. To me its really questionable... And u going ahead to clarify it, it shows a sign of something is fishy ... Start building your account prior to the 6months showing steady inflow and outflow.. To me that lump sum messed up the whole process. Bro i appreciate your comments so far and your opinion but for the sake of beginners reading this, its good to clarify and state that lump sum is not against the rule especially if you cannot help it. All you have to do is provide evidence which i did and the v.o omitted it. Please read my transcript well i stated that after the lump sum in july i paid tuition out of it in august and sponsor also transfered living expenses to close at 7.8mill. its fine to criticize the application because it was not approved which is really what i am looking forward to but when you do it please do it constructively because of other readers. someone i actually said the v.os are not mind reader i should pointed out every suspicious from beginning of the app to end which i see as a fact i hope this answers. |

thesoj: Forgive me for being blunt, but you can't blame the VO for not understanding the source of the lumped sums given that you didn't explain it to them. It is not reasonable to expect the VO to make the connection between your rent receipts and the lumped sums in your account(s), especially given that you probably had a ton of other financial documents that they had to look through and make sense of. You need to tell the VO exactly what you want him/her to know. VOs aren't mind readers.
I personally think that the job of a VO is boring, and s/he won't rack her brain to make sense of your application if you don't help him/her help you. Apologies if I sound rude, because I don't mean to. Hope this helps. You are not sounding rude in anyway its actually making sense |

thesoj: If you aren't 100% sure that your sources of lumps sums were explained in your SOP or your sponsor letter, then go back and check again so that you can fix it in your next app or however you plan to get CIC to reopen your app.
As a rule of thumb, always keep in mind that VOs are not mind readers. If an important part of your application is ambiguous and up to arbitrary interpretation, then best believe that the VO's decision may not favor you.
Once again, sorry about the visa refusal. Hi, Please can you share the email address of accra and probably assist with a format of how the mail should go Regards |

osento: 4.6 mll inflow from a building in a month, bro this VOs are not kids, the VO simply knew you tried building you account because of the visa application, that's why I think he said lump sum.in a month such an inflow. To me its questionable ...just my succession ...tnx Ofcourse i waited for the inflow before i applied that is why i provided evidence such as the pictures of the building reciept of payment C of O and evaluation of the building all am saying is that all this was not considered before concluding it was a lump sum from an unknown source. do u expect me to tell tenants to split the cheques because i want to apply canadian visa |

jnyuwa02: These statements made suffices as an explanation as to the origin of the lump sum and you may ask for a reopening of your case. Make sure to quote in verbatim the same statement you made before explaining the lump sum that you think the VO missed. Send an email to Accra with subject, "motion to reopen case based on error of fact." Then proceed to explain in body of email the factual error missed by the CAC, appealing graciously and respectfully that your case be reopened and reconsidered. Don't introduce any new evidence. Just a statement of explanation will do. Good luck! @jnyuwa02 really appreciate your responses so far i hope i wont be asking for too much, can you assist with the email address of Accra and probably a format of how the letter should go. i have visited the bank yesterday to pay the balance of 1 year tuition but still waiting for my account to be debited so i can demand a receipt from the school do you think i should wait for that receipt and attach it to the mail am about to send, i hope they wont see it as being desperate. also my passport has been returned can the application still be re-opened regardless? please i just sent you a pm really sorry for bothering you sir. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by tommee: 9:45am On Nov 03, 2017 |
jnyuwa02: Yes he can ask for reopening only if he actually explained before the sources of the lump sum in his account. If there is anything in his SOP or sponsor's letter adducing that the lump sum was from a rental and the VO didn't read that, it will amount to an error of fact for which he may seek reopening his case without paying an application fee. However, if there was never an explanation for the lump sum, his option narrows only to filing a new application and paying the fees and explaining well the sources of the lump sum based on previous denial of his application Hi @jnyuwa02, There was no part where the sponsor letter or my SOP specifically mentioned 4.6mill because there were various lodgment in the account we printed 6 months from march to august and in march there was a lodgment of 2mill in may there 1.8mill and then july the 4.6mill the lodgment comes in annually and theres a line in the sponsor letter that states this. i never taught the V.O will see it as lump sum. I also attached every rent receipt that was paid into the amount from march to august from as low as 250k to 750k till it got to the 4.6mill please see below lines from the sponsor letter that is pointing to the rent do you think the below is enough to re-open my application and what are the procedure to re-open app. [i]I have Investments in savings, and mostly in properties, and shares belonging to me and my late husband which I co-manage with my son, and from which annual rent and share dividends are obtained regularly, I have attached copies of certificate of ownership of all properties in my name and my late husband’s name.
The current values of all properties are worth over N350million (Naira)in the assumption of a forced sale value also see attached valuation certificate of one of the properties located at ***** and its leased out to a school (schools name) which is one of our biggest tenants. thesoj: Sorry about the denial. Did you write a short summary (either in your SOP or your mom's sponsorship letter) explaining the source of the lumped sums (and refer the VO to the receipts)? If not, it's very difficult for the VO to make the connection on his/her own -- especially in the midst of a large stack of submitted documents.
In your next application, do what you can to make everything as obvious as possible. Hello Bro, To the best of my knowledge i think i did i added various rent receipts of payments and the 4.6mill was included added C of Os of all buildings and the picture print out of this particular building i think its because the money came in july and i submitted my app in august i actually waited for that lump sum to come in so it can boost my financial credibility after the money came i paid half a year tuition fee. Am planning of paying the balance of 1 year please would be right to open a dom accoount and move all cash into the account in dollars wont it be seen as lump sum too? or would you suggest i re-open my my case like someone here as suggested? am really confused right now |

Hello Gurus,
Good Evening,My 1 year tuition is 15,445CAD for a 2year PGD intended study i was delayed 30th of last month for with all financial boxes ticked so i applied immediately for my GCMS note. After seeing the notes i think my case is a clear example of V.Os not checking all documents submitted please i really need your input and advise because i want reapply immediately. Apart from paying the tuition fee balance for 1year what other things do you think i can add to tackle this denial. Please see attached GCMS note stating Lump sum from an unknown source and below the history of the financial statement submitted.
Sponsor Mum GT Bank - 7.8 million (Mum received rent of 4.6 million in July for a whole building she letted out to a school she also paid 7,500 CAD half of 1 year tuition in August UBA- 2.3 million (her salary account with monthly income of 285,000)
My Bank Statement GT Bank- 2.5 million (Mum transferred 1.5 million to me and she stated it in the letter addressed to V.O)
Please note that i included rent receipt of the 4.6 million and all documents of the building but obviously the V.O did not check the document and still denied me on lump sum from an unknown source. The v.O also stated i included a third party sponsor which is false. There two statement from my mum and my GTBank LOA

maygreaves: Long Post Alert Pre -application......The Most Critical stage. August 2016
While at work i spoke to a colleague of my plans of going to the USA for my Masters, i finished with a 2:2 and had already gotten admission from a good school in Florida. However, she asked "why the US, why not Canada?" Prior to that question the only thing i knew about canada was they were above the USA, i had never thought about it and didnt even know why she asked. i replied saying "hellllooo....This is USA, land of milk and honey"....she laughed and told me to read this thread....funny enough, before then i had no idea what Nairaland was for, when doing research i see some posts but just didnt care about it
September 2016 - February 2016
Research!!!! I work as an analyst of a consulting firm and research is my last name, so this was meant to be simple, but the information overload was something else. I got to this thread during Part 11, but i was just confused, very confused, so i went back to Part 1...but i realised that was just madness, so i started from 9 and read every single line, i didn't need to ask any question cuz someone will ask it, and the gurus will explain so well...every lunch break, in the toilet, before sleeping, after morning devotion, i always had a tab open on either a computer or my phone.
I knew it will be veryyyyy difficult to get a Masters degree with my grade, so i settled on a PGD, however this couldn't be any PGD, had to be from the best college, so half my time on Nairaland, the other on college rankings, reviews by students, different provinces (later realised Toronto was in Ontario lol), racism, banks, networks, basically everything all the way to the anthem "oh Canada".
Since i am in the finance sector it was definitely going to be in Ontario, regardless of the cost (i'm a firm believer in spending money to making money). So i had option with conestoga, centinniel, durham, algoquin, seneca, the whole lot really. And for me, i believed Seneca was the right step for me. My eventual goal was to get a masters degree, so the course didn't really matter to me, as long as it was finance related and a year long (don't have time to waste).
Application Stage Finally Applied in February 2017 with a view of starting in September 2017, but i didnt get admission till end of april, i then used the whole of May to gather and prepare all my documents The CIC forms Uni Transcript Uni certificate NYSC Certificate Sponsors account of $15,000, 9 million Naira (inflow outflow of over 300 million) and shares of 3 million Landed property of 20 million My CV SOP of less than a page, just explaining the Value i can add to the classroom in canada, and the impact other classmates of various nationalities will have on me....it was a short sop, but showed passion to canada, passion to Nigeria and passion for self development and a bit of humour showing myself as what i really am, a fun humorous guy Letter of admission...i even forgot to add the fact i paid for school fees International Passport with proper travel history....Please and please under no conditions should you violate your visa to any country or overstay the normal duration Please dont ask if i submitted anything else, such as police report and all.....i didn't....I figured if they want it, they can ask me, which was probably wrong, but why else should background check be so long if they are using the reports of our police eh
i submitted on the 7th of june, paper route and put it all in Gods hands. I was a bit scared because i didnt want a rejection, cuz i will need to always put it on every document that asks "have you ever been refused visa to any country" and i just couldn't be bothered thinking of that each time, but the faith and encouragement of families and friends made me so positive about the outcome (surround yourself with the right people....note: The right people don't always need to be optimists, but they should never be pessimists), though i was very very careful about becoming complacent and putting all my worries the Almighty God. Days becam weeks, weeks became months, doubts crept in, but my faith won't waver, people i applied before got their TRVs and resumed on time, but i kept telling myself @abiodune is there, you can't even start complaining, just be thankful.
In August i sent Cse's and emails, i got automated responses and after my resumption date passed i didn't bother..what will be, will be. I focused on my career and development, and kept reading here, and chipping in tme from time, got encouraged by a few testimonies and i later got a request for new LOA, then medicals, then approval.
People say submit a tight application, but i will say, let yourself show through your application, be honest ALWAYS, show that even if you are denied, life will still go on for you, try to help others when you can (the sky is big enough). And just always remember....God wants the best for you, ad maybe at that period in time, you going to canada won't help you (during my stay from september till now, if i had gone, i realised i would have missed so many opportunities that came in a space of one month, so im grateful)...DONT LET CANADA BLOCK YOUR EYES FOR OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
Be safe.....NEWBIES READ UP ON VARIOUS POSTS BY MANY MANY OTHERS>>>>I CANNOT EMPHASISE THIS ENOUGH @Maygreaves Congratulations and nice write up i tap into your success please i am interested in how you drafted your SOP i will like to send you my SOP so you review i was delayed too recently for financial reasoned. Please i need your help i just sent you a PM |
