richie240: If it was Osibanjo that Soyinka attacked and Igbos feel Osibanjo was right on the issue, they will criticize Prof. Even if it was an Igbo that criticized Osibanjo and we believe PYO to be right and the Igbo fellow to be wrong, majority of us will criticize the Igbo. Dave Umahi tried to intimidate Laila Johnson Salami of Arise TV during a press briefing guess what, sensible Nigerians and a lot of Igbos criticized Umahi and stood with the courageous lady. So call a spade a spade. It has nothing to do with tribalism. Mind you, Soyinka stood with Biafra during the war and we respect that. But on this and other contemporary national issues like the free fall of the naira vs the USD,he is attacking the wrong guy,PO. Is Tinubu the president not responsible for the economic situation we find ourselves in? Soyinka protested against GEJ about 10 years ago because of the state of the country,FX then was below N200/$ but now at around N1500/$ he has lost his voice because Tinubu his man is in power. That's what is called hypocrisy. People called him out because the respected his views before and are let down by his behaviors lately. He is entitled to his opinion no doubt but if it insults the sensibilities of the masses, be sure they will come for him & he shouldn't term every hungry Nigerian that does so an Obidient because even some of Tinubu supporters are screaming Ebin pawa. 1 Like |

EmperorCaesar: Soyinka is good no doubt but Achebe is greater than him. Just like comparing Kanye West with 2Pac.because of the Grammys. The whites reckon far more with Achebe's works than Soyinka's. Things fall apart was translated into over 50 languages. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Politics / Re: Reno Omokri Gives Reasons For Criticizing Peter Obi by toneroforever(m): 4:38pm On May 24 |
DMerciful: He is entitled to his opinion no doubt but for the suffering citizens to regard him,he needs to respect his age and talk sensibly like an elder statesman. The fact that Tinubu gifted him a property doesn't mean he should allow his conscience to be bought otherwise there's no difference between him and Reno. So with the way Nigerians are suffering including BATstards, all that Soyinka can contribute is to attack Obi's personality in a menner that suggests he is out to demarket him but guess what, Nigerians don't seek the opinion of those who they feel align with their oppressors. The economic policies of this government has plunged Nigerians into multidimensional poverty. He protested against N200/$, petrol at N97 & GEJ's subsidy removal but became dumb when the FX got to N1500/$ with subsidy gone and petrol sold at N690. This level of hypocrisy & double standards sure deserves a Nobel prize. 1 Like |

HitlerWasRight: That's not necessary. I don't subscribe to that. You don't seem to get it. Lagos is in the SW & belongs to you guys,ok. But it's development was not just by Yorubas. In fact you have to attribute it first to the colonialists, the FG, corporations which developed it into a land filled with opportunities. Then Yorubas as well as people from other tribes came in and built up the place and invested heavily FYI, people from other regions of this country have more properties and investments in the SW( 95% because of Lagos) than the Yorubas have in any of those regions. I hope you get it now |
Politics / Re: Landmark Loses N42bn From Demolitions To Relaunch In Two States, West Africa by toneroforever(m): 3:56pm On May 24 |
HitlerWasRight: Shame no dey catch you. I know that's the wish of most of your tribesmen so they can get a chance to own a property in their region. Nobody is dragging ownership of Lagos with you unless the person is just being mischievous. Stop bragging with Lagos oga. It was a former Federal capital. The colonialists, later the Nigerian FG, business corporations, your people, people from other tribes as well especially the Igbos invested heavily & own properties there. The other SW towns like Ibadan,Abeokuta,Akure,Osogbo & Ado Ekiti is your typical SW town. 1 Like |

For Soyinka to descend so low as to behave like Reno is quite unfortunate. Birds of a feather.... It's a tragedy that a once respected man chose to align himself with a government that impoverishes it's citizen by removing subsidy without a proper plan thereby causing inflation and unprecedented high cost of living & hardship. High electricity tarrif, higher taxes etc 1 Like |

drake2: Lol.... He told Laila Johnson of Arise TV that he was raised in the village and that he doesn't understand phonetics. Maybe he has a general problem with comprehension not necessarily about where he was raised because their are a lot of bright kids in the villages that understand phonetics and more. 1 Like |

If we trade places and they experience half of the adversities and malicious attacks we've faced, they all would have been IDPs by now. Politics / Re: Peter Obi Unfit To Lead Nigeria – Soyinka by toneroforever(m): 3:06pm On May 24 |
This Soyinka is quite shameless. Someone paid you a courtesy visit and you were carefully monitoring his activities on his phone and even had the guts to tell it to the world. Is that how much this guy has belittled himself? That's quite petty,or was he working for Tinubu low key during that period because Balablu had gifted him a house years back? Meanwhile he has seen the government he supports plunge the country into far more mess than they met it in 2015. To think he was a part of those that protested against N200/$ and petrol subsidy removal. He really deserves a Nobel prize for Hypocrisy. |

EJEGBULEJE: Nobody is interested in whether the north & west have an alliance or not. It's within ur rights, after all there's freedom of association. All we need is for such an alliance to realign the exchange rate back to around N200/ $, the price of a bag of rice to around N8000, petrol to N97/liter,indomie super pack to N50,bag of cement to around N1800, manageable cost of living etc to what it was before May 29, 2015. At least we can manage that. Even if that is achieved, it's still not progress because that's where we were at before ur alliance brought us to this terribly messed up situation we find ourselves. Compare the economy when Ngozi Okonjo Iweala ran it with what this light featherweight economist Wale Edun is doing at the moment. |

LegendHero: @ the bolded: With such a mindset, our society has no chance of getting better. Politicians embezzle state resources and use it to advance their owncourse, which in most cases leads to state capture with the interest of the masses overlooked and that's what you advocate. Think in the best interest of ur society and stop reasoning like someone who is a tool in the hands of politicians. 1 Like |

LegendHero: The mentality of some of you really amazes me. A governor/political leader that spends state resources to control his followers is what some of you applaud. Wike requesting N2b monthly from Fubara is what you deem morally right. I think the problem of our society can be found in the value system of the masses. Sometimes I am tempted to believe that a people deserve the kind of leaders they get. 2 Likes |

dealslip: So sorry if I misunderstood you earlier. Just that I don't like it when people's sweat/properties are destroyed in this harsh economic climate. Going forward, LASG should halt all illegal constructions at the early stages... Ironically the local councils give approval for construction to go on, it's not like the people just jumped into empty plots of land and built on them like that without approval. |

Konquest: She expressed her opinion and you term it irresponsible. Government made a businessman (Landmark) invest around $200 million in a project and in less than 20 years the same government is demolishing the business in the name of building a coastal road. If it was the government that built Landmark, will they demolish it? No. They would have found a way around it and still build the road. So without her saying it,the message has been sent. Investors will be careful because this shows government can't guarantee the safety of your investments. |
