Another view

I was viewing lagos satellite pictures on google earth when I stumbled on this
spherical housing development, but I can't make out what part of lagos this is. It appears to be
close to Ojo (based on the picture label).

Does anyone have an idea where this is in lagos ?

Let us say it as it is, he inflicted this person on Nigerians, this was done by wide spread vote rigging and thuggery or in some places no elections yet results being announced, etc. That is how it was done, it wasn't an innocent blunder.


It wasn't a matter of he forgot to wipe his nose or an if you will, "oopsie daisy" situation, so let us not treat it as such or understate the matter in hyperbole. OBJ should stop contributing to Nigeria, it is enough, it is enough!! OBJ, IBB, Odilli, Igbenidion, all of them, they should just go somewhere and get another citizenship so that we can focus on cleaning up this mess and moving on without them. They have "helped" enough abeg. And who allowed these things to happen and carry on? Nigerians!! I trust, a man can go and rape a whole village but once he builds a road leaving the community with all of its many woes, all will be forgiven with the reasoning of "im try abeg, leave am". Only in Nigeria!!! The whole system seems to have failed in its duties, the legislature, judiciary, executive, and even more worryingly and shockingly, the citizens!!!

Please, where in my post did i say or imply that Nigerians should be grateful that OBJ gave us someone as president ? You said he inflicted Yar'Adull on us, I said he forced him on us - Isn't this pretty much the same thing

One of the biggest blunders of OBJ was forcing Yar'Adull on us as president. I'm sure he is really regretting it as we speak.

I think Turaki is kissing up to Yar'Adull so the EFCC would soft peddle on him. Turaki is not that bright to make a
statement like this with underlying goals of killing the constitutional review (unless someone's putting him up to it).

He is a Nigerian and spends weeks hiding in a container on the sheep having to deal with his own odour and excretes all with hope that when he reaches america, all will be well. Listen, there is a place and time for everything. There is no one disputing the fact that some Nigerians residing in the
west are engaged in fraudulent activities, but when we have occasional good news like this, we should give ourselves
a pat on the back.

the greatest tool for bridging the social gap is education. there were enough kids from poor backgrounds in my class( according to the top student in my class, his dad was a bicycle repairer. today he's in a bank( big loss to engineering - but hey - the guy had plenty of responsibilties )

idiots looking for cheapo solution to big problems. the saddest thing is that more often than not, in nigeria, the childern of the elite have less motivation to succeed - since their folks already have it made. so - there we have it make tertiary education available to people wh have no real need to hustle for good grades, then wonder about the quality of graduates.

I don't think the govt is intentionally trying to make university education available solely to the rich. The problem is lack of planning - we have not
been able to keep up with our teeming population's demand for food, electricity, transport, health care etc.

We need more federal universities badly. I believe Ex-Gov Chimaroke Nnamani of Enugu state built an ultra-modern state
university with around 30 billion naira (~ $252 million dollars).

What is keeping the federal govt from building more universities with $50 billion in reserves ?

The National Universities Commission and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board have warned that with the current carrying capacity of all universities in the country, less than 20 per cent of the 1,054,053 people who wrote the Universities Matriculation Examinations on Saturday would gain admission into the institutions.

They lamented that while there was an influx of candidates for the UME, the Polytechnics and Colleges of Education were currently undersubscribed.

The Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof. Julius Okojie, and the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. ‘Dibu Ojerinde, stated these at the presentation of licence to the Ondo State University of Science and Technology in Abuja on Tuesday.

Okojie said, “Every year, there is always the problem of access to education in this country. This year alone, over one million candidates are taking the UME, but unfortunately, we have placements for only 200,000.

“Meanwhile, places in the Colleges of Education and Polytechnics are usually undersubscribed because everybody wants to go to the universities.”

Warning that Nigeria was in dire need of more universities, he warned that the quality of education should not be sacrificed on the altar of quantity.

Ojerinde, who commented on the conduct of the UME on Saturday said, “We can only take just 200,000 because of the capacities of the universities.

“ Every year, the number of candidates taking the UME keeps on increasing, but the spaces are limited. I can bet that the number will keep on increasing.

“If care is not taken, in the next five years, we will have over four million candidates writing the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations and the UME.”

Even my own junior brother, who scored well on his UME did not get admission last year due to this lack of space in our universities. It is really
mind bugling that even after introducing new private and state universities, only 20% of UME candidates are going to be admitted.
As it stands now, our universities are crowded with students.

It's really sad that a Nigerian would read the article on this thread and come up with a response like yours. This is what I'll
expect from one of those jealous african countries, not a fellow Nigerian.

Data collection. We (all Nigerians - right from birth) should all have some sort of "unique" ID that is issued by the govt and stored in a database;
something akin to a Social Security Number in the US.

This will help in so many ways - planning, tax remittance, tax breaks, fighting crime, fighting diseases (vaccinations etc) and so on.

Many western countries are storing biometrics as part of the ID cards for their citizens.
