Igbos are something else. The way we got here, its only God that knows. God just single-handedly blessed us and make us what we're today. It is important that our past can be transformed as strength of the future. If only we can get a good television station that can permeate through different important parts of the country, we can sell both our state and other igbo states too.

What we don't understand is this:

1. We're the highest population of people who had a republican system of government. The western media has turned it to under-civilisation but what people don't understand is that we can turn into an asset. Republican system goes a long way to show that we have been breeding people who can think for themselves, fend for themselves, protect themselves and still become successful without being ruled over.

2. The various wars we fought with the british i.e the ekumeku war and others can be sold as asset too. It will be shown to the world that we're strong and can make things happen when we put our minds to it.

3. We can buy this Equaino's book and try to rebrand it in such a way that it will buttress the fact that the igbos are strong were open to western education and seeking freedom since the time immemorial.

4. Germany, Russia and Poland still sell their war experiences and have used it to tell the world how they've grown past the destruction of the war and where they are at the moment. They show you war sites and call many people to tell war stories and how they ran for their lives. We will show people various videos of then and now, and tell people that many of the kwashiorkwor stricken people of yesterday have become billionaires in their own right. This goes to show how we've come to light after many years of darkness.

5. We sell the image of our greats. Tell the world what they have achieved but academic, business and other facets of life. Show the world how they were home-grown and what they've been doing.

6. We'll use this medium to shield the crimes in the east and bring the governors and senators to light. Show them the manufacturing power of our people.

7. Sell the image of our indigenous manufacturers and businessmen in our land. Show the world what we can manufacture and what we can do with our resources in the east.

8. Change people's perception about the east being an erosion site and show them what we can do in art. This will make our art and culture sector of our states wake up and this will make that industry boom too. If we have programmes in the week that can highlight our artistic prowess, we can drag development to the region.

9. Publicise awards in the east and for people from all works of life. Give awards to many of different regions and country. This will make us less tribalistic and more open to people. Give them award for no reason and make people see us as open people. But this award will be one thing everyone will be looking out for.

10. Make emotional documentary on how someone from grass to grace made it in the east through investing in the east. This will boost the image of the people.

Media is like light beaming on a particular people. When light is shown on you, you will behave well. This will make our youths behave well because light will be on them.

The east shouldn't breed mediocre station and mediocre journalists who can't "go there" or do something crazy to get reports. The east can be a stronghold of development if only we can get these things right.

They may think they won't get subscribers, the opposite will be the case.

Ok. All these guys that are always talking shit. I have been with my bf for quite a long while now. Interesting article. It is interesting to read of communities and towns ancestrally found by Igbo-speaking people's which would not readily accept today that they were founded by Igbos. Several non-Igbo speaking communities (Ijaw, Ibibio, Isoko etc.) in the Niger Delta were originally founded by Igbos but due to rampant Igbophobia today, these communities would flatly deny any Igbo ancestry or connection to the Igbos. The Igbos are still suffering from the effects of the loss after the Civil war till today.

Urhobos even say 'biko' for please. I don't think they would want to easily accept that they borrowed the word from Igbos.

Just like the chameleon, the Yorubas can change the colour of their skin at will and can vacillate at random between Christian and Muslim worlds whenever the evil spirit begins to operate them. Little wonder they are descendants of a fallen demon!
The vacillation is akin to the abracadabra of a sworn homosexual who might screw a man today, a woman tomorrow, or an animal the next time. You never can tell.

The level of Yoruba treacheery and betrayal is second to none.

Finding a reliable and trustworthy Yoruba person is like searching for a pin in a haystack. Yorubas who possess these good characters are rare.

Outlined below are the indisputable cases of the treachery of these notorious, hateful tribe.

1* Afonja betrayed his Yaribanza people to the Fulani; Ilorin still remains an Islamic caliphate till date.

2* It was the testimony of some Yoruba Action Group leaders against Chief Awolowo that was used against him.

3* Justice Sowemimo, a Yoruba judge was used by the Hausa-Fulani Government to send Chief Awolowo to jail.

4* Chief Awolowo was an unyielding advocate of true federalism but suddenly changes as soon as he was appointed the Minister of local Government and Finance.

5* General Oladipo Diya, a Yoruba man was used by Hausa-Fulani to batter NADECO, Afenifere, Odua Movement and other Yoruba struggle groups.

6* Yoruba Obas collected bribe instead of fighting for the unjust murder of their "beloved son" MKO Abiola as confessed by Oba Akiolu.

7* MKO Abiola used his Concord newspaper to fight his own brother Obafemi Awolowo.

8* The same MKO Abiola financed the coup that sacked his brother Ernest Shonekan and brought in General Abacha - an Hausa-Fulani to power. 

9* MKO Abiola and other Yoruba elders even went to Dodan Barracks to congratulate General Sani Abacha for overthrowing their brother. It's so pathetic!

10* Awolowo usurp the agreement he made with Ojukwu before his release from Eastern  prison.

11* A small boy Yakubu Gowon used Pa Awolowo to cling on to power against Southern interest.

12* Obasanjo was very key to denying Goodluck Jonathan a second term.

You cannot trust the allegiance of a Yoruba man, even the Abobaku that was once loyal to the Ooni of Ife absconded when it was time to prove his true loyalty.
Yorubas are not only treacherous but always at the servitude of the Northerners which is very worrisome.

forgetting that other tribes of people contesting

which they all support but never the same in

IGBO people are never among the the list of
richest people in Nigeria still yet, IGBO are the

question now is, with all these zeal and quest to
become rich, why are we not among the richest
at least in Nigeria not to talk of Africa or the
World in general or can we say that the people
who conduct this poll hate the IGBOs? or do we
say that they are correct in their conducts?
If you want to talk about other things like
setting up a place of worship, IGBO people are
far behind the pace setters of places of
Worship in the history of Nigeria but yet,
majority of NDI IGBO claim to be Christians.
NdI IGBO claim to come from Israel but the
present and previous Israelites never lived their
lifes as NDI IGBO of this present generation are
living, I will say that NDI IGBO of Old never
lived life the way it is now because IGBOS are
people that fear GOD but reverse is the case
now, We do not fear to destroy what our hands
cannot make. I am sad because these atrocities
has been going on and on again while the
perpetrators were going about living their
normal life and if anyone there to point those
who commits such evil crimes, he or she must
loose their life because from how everything

In every conceivable hamlet in Nigeria and most of Africa are men and women from the South-East who toil to make ends meet, and because of their sheer number, the press in Nigeria has continued to assert, albeit wrongly that the South-Easterners have abandoned education.

Why is that so?

Come along with me as we meander through the maze, bare the facts and bust the myth of who is in school and who is not.


We will begin by consulting JAMB, culling figures from UME admissions in the years 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007, and then crunching the numbers and provide the statistics.

It is noteworthy that the South-West lags behind among the three zones that comprise the South, and so for the purposes of this presentation, I will limit the study to the three Southern zones as the Northern zones have historically lagged behind their Southern counterparts.

From the above, it can thus be established that the South-East has more of her young men and women admitted to Nigerian universities than either the South-West or the South-South; "quota" system not withstanding. The South-South has been next to the South-East in the number of university admissions in all the years except 2006 and 2007 when South-West made a nominal gain. Within the South-South, it is interesting to note that Delta State is tops, and no attempt will be made on the part of the author to divvy up the South-South for the purposes of this presentation in spite of the fact that Delta and Rivers States have more of their young men and women admitted than Kwara and Kogi put together, so no numbers will be appropriated from the South-South into South-East, in as much as in the same token no remnants of Kogi and Kwara States will be consigned into the South-West.


The South-East and the South-West have far more homogeneity within the population that occupies its geographic space due to language. It is also noteworthy that there is a presence of Ijaw in the South-West but still my subsequent comparison will be solely confined to only the South-West and the South-East.

It can be seen from the above that it was only in 2004 that the number of women surpassed the men by a miniscule number. Also note the spikes in 2003 and 2004; I am not sure whether to attribute that to the number of universities under the wing of JAMB or to some other factors. The spike is also apparent when South-East is compared to both South-West and South-South (See Fig.4). It is also noteworthy that the South-East women have continued to keep pace with their male counterparts. To make a blanket statement that the South-East has abandoned education is totally false; that there are a number of men who are gainfully employed either as artisans or traders only goes to show that the South-East population has always been underestimated.

It is discernible that in the years from 2002 until 2007, the South-East has continued to lead the South-West in university admissions. The South-East bested the South-West in terms of number of admissions in both genders also. As to the spikes in 2003 and 2004, my best bet would be that in the subsequent years, JAMB divested from the number of universities under its wing. (See also Fig.3.)

We can glean from the above chart that there are more Southeast males in the universities than their counterparts in the Southwest. In 2005 ad 2006 the numbers essentially remained the same for each zone.

From the above, there are more South-East females in the universities than their SW female counterparts.

From the above, among all genders, SE males lead the SE females barely, who in turn lead the SW males. The SW females are fewer in number of admissions than all others.

We can deduct from the above bar charts as follows:


From fig.1: among the six geo-political zones for six years admissions from 2002 through 2007, the SE leads followed by SS, then SW, NC, NW while NE bottomed out.

In conclusion, if we add up the number of young men and women who are admitted into Nigeria universities together with the South-East men and women who are in the remotest conceivable hamlets of every state in Nigeria, and the rest in the West African sub-region and other parts of Africa, who are wrongly accused of having abandoned higher education while there South-East peers hold their own, it makes me to still demand to know how many we really are; the Nigerian state continues to spew out spurious population censuses.

Finally, if the South-East has more people in the universities when there is no reason other than that they have more candidates applying for same, it would be right and appropriately so to postulate that it in terms of population, there are more people in the South-East than either in the South-West or the South-South.

So the next time they tell you that South-East males have abandoned school, point the statistics in their face. And more poignantly ask them: O bu anyi anaghi eme ofuma; anyi oga egburu unu onwe anyi? (Aren't we doing well already; do we commit suicide for you all?)

But wait, in the next segment when the 2006 population census will be analyzed, the reader will be in for more shocker; the 2006 population census has Oyo State as the most populated State in the South-West outside Lagos, with a population of 5,591,581, while the most populated state in the South-East is Anambra State with a total population of 4,182,032. However in 2007 JAMB admissions, Anambra State recorded a total of 8,725 in admissions while Oyo State had 3,788….I am crunching the numbers.

My take regarding states specializing on areas of comparative advantage. That's natural phenomenon bro, every state has an area of comparative advantage, it must not be a signed agreement. It will only hinder other states from diversifying their economies. If state A has the potential to go into XYZ, it shouldn't be denied that right just because state B is already into XYZ.
