Who would have believed that Cattle for instance can be reared in large farms in Anambra state not by the fulanis but by the hard working Omanbala/ Igbo people!.We tend to believe in the past that cattle farming are exclusive right of the fulanis & that it can not even be done in Alaigbo or by Igbos but that is now changing!.I want to give you another instance, for a good number of years, Bussa in Niger State was supplying most of the fish in Major Market in Onitsha & beyond with many trailer loads of fish but now that monopoly have finally being broken by Anambra Huslers & Millions of money retained in Anambra economy. In the process new jobs were created in the State!. Chino, we have what is called theory of comparative advantage.. we cant be jack of all TRADES you know. one must keep an ete at the targets...even nations are knwon for something take Switz..the country is noted for Financial institution, take Germany, it is noted for Engineering, take UK which is noted for Admoin and diplomacy, take Italy which is noted for High class fashion take French Rivera oh...i love there, finest tourist place what am i saying, i am not saying that states can be civiol servant but sametime be viable...who is talking about oil here. To me oil is going, cars are runing these days on ethanol and hydrogen so we have to reposition ourselves in a highly competitive market Enugu can tap into voal and other resources, Imo is central and Tourism is the key while anambra is on the go... and too fast to slow down then let us be on industry I like your analaysis but sometime you can get flipped easily nwanna, maka gini kedu ka ndi begi di..anya ma na eke na anya anwu ofuma dalu rinne chino11: I have said it time and time again that all these speculations and day-time dreaming of classifying each state is a total waste of time and a lazy man's hubby. Go and develop whatever you come from and stop online apportioning of areas of specialization. For instance one cannot parade a mere civil servant's state and hope to sustain itself more especially in this era of economic melt-down in Nigeria and around the world due to oil price crash.
Every state must have a bit of everything if it wants to succeed if not it will be acquired by a more economically powerful state. Malaysia wouldn't be Palm Oil giant today if it said oh Nigeria is already leading in that area or China would not be 2nd largest economy if it relaxed and said that Japan is already 2nd largest. But China worked for it and today they have over-taken Japan economic wise and is racing very fast towards over-taking America. Today Malaysia is not only ahead of Nigeria in palm oil production but it is the number ONE in that sector. We are operating a federal system like America- The state New York runs it economy independent of Texas, the same applies to California, we are getting there with the oil price crash then each state will stand all by itself, if it cannot stand then it be shared out to more economically powerful states.
Let us start building our individual states and stop online silly apportioning. This is why I am very happy for Anambra for giving them Obiano who is seeing very far ahead into the future. He has taken up 4 Pillars- Oil/Gas, Industrialization, Agriculture, Economic expansion, Tourism etc. This is where the future lies particularly on industrialization. There is room for over-take in everything. If the rest of the SE with the exception of Anambra, hopes to be self-sufficient they must move away from this same mentality some of you are exhibiting all over the place. If they hope to meet up with their bills and be able to pay salaries, they must think differently aside just getting Federal allocation which is fast disappearing. I said it, it will get to a time when some of this bankrupt states will not be able to maintain common governors office talk more of paying commissioners. It will get to a time when some of this weak and virile states will run their states under "mango" tree because they cannot maintain the government buildings anymore.
Let the people think out-side of the BOX for once. |

Handsomegod: . Nwanne ur suggestions re specialization of states in areas of comparative advantage is the way to go. It is a natural course of progress which has universal validity. Even here in the United States, the various states apply same principle to flourish. Michigan is the automobile planet and they have leveraged on that optimally. California is the movie and showbiz theatre. Florida is a tourist hub anyway and Texas is a sprawling oil state with massive commercial propensity characteristic of border states. Ebonyi may never catch up with Anambra and Abia in industrial and commercial strength but they will be unrivaled if they surge into mechanized farming and food processing. Enugu already has the administrative clout and can pass for another Washinton DC for the Igbo nation with enviable collection of institutions of learning. Imo state can be our silicon valley as proposed by the someone earlier and by all means should house some of our classified security facilities strictly because it is the most centrally situated part of Igboland geographically shielded by other states. The industrial and commercial potentiality of Abia and Anambra is already of global reckon. Anioma has vast expanse of land suitable for both farming and real estate. Yet,like someone already proposed,in addition to specializing,we each state can still have a bit of everything just to create a balance .I support ur view both in theory and practise. If this is to be an exam I am looking at A+ for you ..you broke it down using instances. ..how I wish our governors will see this and key into this area Just that we have bunch of old fellas as goverall leaders |

Handsomegod: I dont know where you ve been to but such clannish disposition as yours is not needed here. Just a candid reminder:Are you aware that it was the high depth of intellectual discussions at the Enugu thread that necessitated calls for this thread by well meaning blue-blooded Igbo sons and daughters in a bid to diversify and share the success story our states are gradually becoming? Be well guided. In discussing "Igbocentric" ideas, the shades as they apply to Anambra,Enugu etc are unravelled and promoted. Igbos need unity and reawakening now more than ever before. Notable forumites re Pazienza,Budhha Monk,Tonychristopher,FKC,Igboson1,CJrane,Bishop42,etc are all igbo centric as much as they also work for the advancement of their various states. Are the so called states not even a tool for destabilization promoted by the hegemonists for sinister purposes especially as it concern Igbos? Either way,God bless Anambra state+Ndigbo dum! Apt submissions |

Aduba in 2014. Born Uzoamaka Nwanneka Aduba February 10, 1981 (age 34) Tribe Igbo American Boston, Massachusetts, United States
Aduba was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Nigerian parents of Igbo origin. She grew up in Medfield, Massachusetts.[4] She graduated from Medfield High School in 1999.[5] She attended Boston University, where she studied classical voice[6] and competed in track and field.[7][8] She describes her family as a "sports family".[6] Her younger brother, Obi, played hockey at the University of Massachusetts and went on to play six seasons professionally.[9]
Career[edit] Aduba first garnered recognition for her acting in 2003, when her performance in Translations of Xhosa at the Olney Theatre Center for the Arts earned her a Helen Hayes Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Play.[10] In 2007, she made her Broadway debut, portraying Toby in Coram Boy.[11] From 2011 through 2012, she sang "By My Side" as part of the original revival cast of Godspell at the Circle in the Square Theatre.[11][12] Her first television appearance was as a nurse on Blue Bloods in 2012.[6] She also played the mother of the title character of Venice at The Public Theater in New York.[13][14]
In 2013, Aduba began portraying Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren in the Netflix comedy-drama series Orange Is the New Black.[15] On being cast, Aduba said:
“ I auditioned for the show back in late July or early August of [2012]. I had been auditioning that summer for more television and film [after doing much theater]. I'd read a lot of scripts and I remember reading Orange Is the New Black, and it was at the head of the pack. I remember thinking, 'Wow, that is really good, I would love to be a part of that.' I went in and auditioned for another part, and my representatives called me about a month later and they were like, "Hi, we have some really good news. You remember that audition you went on for Orange Is the New Black? You didn't get it." I go, "So… okay, what's the good news?" They said they wanted to offer me another part, Crazy Eyes. I was like, "What in my audition would make someone think I'd be right for a part called Crazy Eyes?" But to be honest, when I got the script for it, it felt like the right fit.[16] ” Casting director Jennifer Euston explains the selection of Aduba for the role thus: "Uzo Aduba...had her hair in those knots for the audition...They saw something amazing in her and were able to connect it to what they were looking for in Crazy Eyes."[17] In joining the series, Aduba obtained her Screen Actors Guild card, about which she says, "I was just like, 'Wow, this means I'm a full actor now.' It was such a big deal, and I remember being so thankful and feeling so proud."[18]
She has been recognized for her performance as "Crazy Eyes": Aduba won Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series at the 66th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards as well as Best Guest Performer in a Comedy Series at the 4th Critics' Choice Television Awards and was nominated for Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries or Television Film at the 18th Satellite Awards for her season 1 performance.[19][20][21] Aduba's season 2 performance earned her the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series as well as recognition for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series at the 21st Screen Actors Guild Awards and a nomination Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries or Television Film at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards.[22][23][24]

Politics › GMB Has Impressed Us With This Singular Move by tonychristopher(op): 11:39am On Sep 21, 2015 |
I was watching Al Jazeera news last night and I saw the way they reported that Buhari has stopped the funding of pilgrimage to Mecca and Jerusalem both for Christians and Muslims ...I think they were not happy but to me this is a welcomed development. This has saved at least 30 million USD for the nation which can be used for other amenities such as roads , hospital etc
Big ups to Buhari...I am impressed and happy for this ...I must confess . if you want to go on any pilgrimage pls save up and go. We can use that money for other things
I am beginning to admire this man because of this singular effort ...Bleep tribalism
If he goofs I will talk but for now I think I will commend Baba, he has done what most past President couldn't do. It takes guts to hurt your religion and that of others . this he has proved to be a man of his words.
Nice one GMB but I am not a two good shoes...sir , I commend you on this and to be frank you have my admiration here

NYSC › Re: NYSC: A Litmus Test For A Faithful Wife/girlfriend by tonychristopher: 7:31pm On Sep 20, 2015 |
Tomjazzy2: Having successfully concluded my one year compulsory service to the nation, I can categorically say here that, any girl/lady who doesn't cheat, or attempts to cheat on her partner/husband during her service year, will to a very large extent, remain loyal and faithful for the rest of her life; take it from me.
The reason for the afore assertion is not far-fetched; NYSC is generally perceived as an avenue to engage, even if for the last time, in all maners of immoralities. During this period, you can hardly differentiate a married lady from a single lady; they all want to catch the fun with out any form of social discrimination from their colleagues. Most married ladies go as far as taking off their sacred wedding rings once they put on that revered, or perhaps cursed khaki.
I remember quite vividly, the frown that greeted me the day I curiously, but politely asked a married lady in my platoon, why she wasn't working on redeploying back to the state where her husband was residing. The stern look on her face as she looked at me, could be vaguely interpreted to mean, "wtf! do I look too old to be in this camp?"
Carry out a quick but careful study, you'd be surprised to find out the number of female corp members, that get married just few weeks after POP, who were hitherto, your close/intimate female friends.
I will NEVER advice any reasonable man, to allow his wife particularly, and may be his fiancee, to be deployed outside his state of residence. But if he wants to put her character to test, then there isn't any test which can be as rigorous and complex as the NYSC (Not recommended)
NB: the above post is made with out prejudice to the sound moral and ethical standards, which the NYSC scheme is built upon. But I have seen some decent ladies also in camp I do not think that it will be nice to label all ladies promiscuous There are still some decent ladies I have seen virgins that passed nysc and still virgin |

CREATE AN "I NEED HELP"SECTION IN NL AND HAVE IT MODERATED BY ENSURING THAT THOSE SEEKING INVESTMENT PARTNERS STAY OFF IT AND THEN PLACE A BANNER ON THAT PARTICULAR SECTION STATING THAT ANY HELP RENDERED WOULD BE PURELY A PERSONAL CHOICE BY THAT INDIVIDUAL. Such a nice idea and also there should be scrutinity and the serious cases should make front page ... Some people can get break via nairaland So that's life |

Seun: I hereby propose to create a new rule that forbids anyone from asking for money - especially investments and donations - on Nairaland later today. The enforcement of this rule will completely block the activities of many scammers. Any objections? To me ..I don't think it should be banned but the purpose ..some are genuinely in need and I think they should be given opportunity to get or solicit for funds ...some might be for charity reasons. ..but there might be scam artist also To me I think that before a post is allowed that is meant to solicit for funds ..there should be some level of scrutinity |

Also the rich is busy chasing money and deals where as the poor uses sex as recreational avenue ..and he is less busy
But poverty ignorance and illiteracy can help also
But the question is how many kids are too much
To some they need only two To some three is too much to some four is too much
So it depends |

hamzia: Cameroonian women and girls whose chests were ironed with hard and heated objects by ther mothers in a traditional practice tell their heartbreaking stories.
Breast ironing is the pounding and massaging of a pubescent girl’s breasts, using hot tools, to try to make them stop developing or to disappear. It is typically carried out by family members who are trying to protect the girl from sexual harassment and rape. They hope it will aslo prevent early pregnancy that would tarnish the family name, or to allow the girl to pursue education rather than be forced into early marriage.
It is mostly practiced in parts of Cameroon, where boys and men may think that girls whose breasts have begun to grow are ready for sex. The most widely used implement for breast ironing is a wooden pestle normally used for pounding tubers. Other tools used include leaves, bananas, coconut shells, grinding stones, ladles, spatulas, and hammers heated over coals.

It’s been two years now and she still checks it on a daily basis. It’s humiliating. I’d like her to stop. When I grow up, I want to be a lawyer or play piano. I hope that wearing this bandage will help me to continue my education.” – Cindy, 14 years old. What a hell Why are Africans this backward So this is it ....and its too bad |
