Today, the Rivers State Government has lunched what I consider one of the most important and laudable interventions of government. If effectively managed, I will consider it one of the best achievements of this government because it is one that involves LIFE. Today, the Rivers State Ministry of Health has officially launched the Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System in Rivers State that will keep a 24-hour operation and immediate response system. With this, a person suffering cardiac arrest or bleeding profusely can stand a chance of survival as there is now a standby system to take your call. Today, the Emergency Call Centre has been officially launched with the emergency number as 112. As of this moment, there is now a fleet of dedicated ambulance vehicles, a dedicated number of health workers for the emergency response system, an operational base, and an Emergency Call Centre. It’s also worthy of note that the ambulance system is free and that there is free medical service for the first 24 hours. This is how we develop as a nation. This is how we secure the life and well-being of the citizenry. May Governor Sim Fubara succeed🙏 Sim Fubara is in charge 💪 😊

EFCC PRESS STATEMENT EFCC WARNS PROMOTERS OF PLANNED PROTEST The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, wishes to alert the general public on the plan by a shadowy group to instigate a “protest” against the Commission. In the last couple of days, the group has been actively campaigning in the social media, recruiting impressionable young Nigerians, including students to take up “arms” against the EFCC. This insidious campaign is being promoted as resistance to the operational activities of the Commission especially in respect of the enforcement of the laws dealing with cybercrimes. The Commission, while not averse to protests by citizens, is alarmed by emerging evidence that suggest a grand design by corrupt elements under investigation or prosecution by the Commission to exploit the so-called protest to orchestrate a national uprising that may threaten the peace and security of our dear nation. As a responsible law enforcement organisation, the Commission will not tolerate any breakdown of law and order anywhere in the country especially around its office locations across Nigeria. EFCC, working in concert with sister security agencies, is therefore taking necessary measures to deal with possible threats to the peace and security of Nigeria. The Commission, however, appeals to parents, guardians and heads of tertiary institutions to take responsibility in ensuring that their wards are not recruited to be used as cannon fodder in a proxy war against the Commission by vested corrupt interests. The war being waged by the Commission against corruption and cybercrime is to protect the future of the youth of this country. That future is imperiled if Nigeria degenerates further in global reckoning as a den of fraudsters. Dele Oyewale Head, Media & Publicity July 3, 2024

I won’t vacate office on June 16, Rivers LG Chairman dares Fubara 23rd May 2024 Dr Samuel Nwanosike Nwanosike By Jide Ajia Kindly share this story: The Chairman, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Dr Samuel Nwanosike, has vowed not to vacate his office at the end of his tenure on June 16. In a viral video circulated on Thursday, Nwanosike directly addressed the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, stating his intention to remain in office beyond the stipulated date. He cited an extension of tenure by state lawmakers under the leadership of Martin Amaghule as justification, due to the state government’s failure to conduct local government elections. In the two-minute video, Nwanosike asserted that he would continue in his role based on the lawmakers’ directive. He warned that the people of Ikwerre LG would resist any attempt to remove him from office. He declared, “Let them come and try to remove me if they dare. The countdown begins—23 more days to go.” Nwanosike also challenged those questioning the authority of Martin Amaewhule, stating, “Who are you to say Martin Amaewhule is not the Rivers House of Assembly Speaker? “If Amaewhule declares that the governor’s failure to conduct local government elections means I should remain in office, then I will stay in office. This is the law in Rivers State.” He further warned potential challengers, “We don’t wear jeans in Ikwerre Local Government. We wear white, we tie wrappers, we wear Ogbakata. Come and disobey the law, we will wait for you. The law of Nigeria is the law passed by Martin Amaewhule. If you have the courage, show your face.” The chairman’s statements have sparked widespread reactions as the situation unfolds. He added, “Who are you to say Martins Amaewhule is not the Rivers House of Assembly Speaker? If Amaewhule says that because the governor of Rivers State failed in his duty to conduct local government elections. “And that, I, Dr Nwanosike Samuel, whose tenure by the oath of office I took and the certificate of return I was issued when I contested my second tenure election should remain in office. So shall we remain in the office in Rivers State! “We are sending a message to those who are threatening them to wear their jeans – do like this, don’t do like that. We don’t wear jeans in Ikwerre local government. We wear white, we tie wrapper we wear Ogbakata. Come and disobey the law, we will wait for you. The law of Nigeria is the law passed by Martin Amaewhule. If dem born you well, show your face. Thank you.” Source: Punch
