POLICE OPERATIVES CLASH WITH KIDNAP/ROBBERY SUSPECTS IN PORT HARCOURT.

Recovers 1 AK47, 18 Live Ammunition

C4i Intelligence Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command in the early hours of Friday 19th May, 2023, raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout at Oyigbo/Igbo-Etche Forest.

The Operatives were acting on actionable intelligence gathered on the kidnapping gang. Upon sighting the Police team the hoodlums opened fire on them. During the gun duel that lasted for about an hour, the gang leader, who was later identified as Aka Blacky, was fatally wounded. Another suspect identified as Peter Nwafor ‘m’ was shot while trying to escape.

The two suspects were taken to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital where they were confirmed dead by doctor on duty. Their corpse have been deposited at the UPTH Mortuary.

The gang was linked to the kidnap of a woman and her daughter on 18th March, 2023 along Garrison, Port Harcourt. It would be recalled that two members of the gang had earlier been arrested.

Exhibit recovered at the scene include 1 AK47 Rifle and 18 Live Ammunition.

Meanwhile, residents of the state are advised to remain supportive, law-abiding, and vigilant and promptly report acts of crime and criminality to the nearest police station or by calling the command’s emergency hotlines on 08032003514 and 08098880134.

DEMOLITION OF BAYELSA PROPERTY IN RIVERS NOT POLITICAL - WIKE

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has dismissed insinuation that the demolition of the Bayelsa state government dilapidated property in Port Harcourt was politically motivated. The governor has however, blamed leadership failure on the part of Bayelsa State for the Rivers State government eventual demolition of the derelict property located at Akasa Street in Old Government Residential Area in Port Harcourt. Briefing journalists on his arrival from Europe at the Port Harcourt International airport on Thursday, governor Wike explained that in line with the Rivers State government urban renewal programme, a formal letter was written to the Bayelsa State government in August 2021 concerning its dilapidated property inherited from the Old Rivers State in Port Harcourt.

"It is most unfortunate, when you have leadership failure that is what you get. I have never seen a hostile government against Rivers State government like Bayelsa State government. It's most unfortunate. When I was away, I read from the media the rantings of the Bayelsa State government through the Commissioner for Lands.

"In August 2021, we wrote to the Bayelsa State government that with urban renewal policy and with the money we have spent, that it will be unfair to us if we allow such property belonging to them to remain there without any, maybe, a new development."

Governor Wike said he had met severally with his Bayelsa State counterpart, governor Douye Diri and enjoined him renovate or build a benefitting edifice on the parcel of land because the formal existing structure contravened the Rivers State urban renewal policy.

"I spoke to my colleague, the governor of Bayelsa State, Douyi Diri severally. I said look, it is better you renovate, bring down or build a new thing for your State. I am not claiming that the property belongs to us, but we have a right to talk about development in our State. No State can determine the level of development that should occur in another State.

"So, in 2021 August, not only did I write a letter to him, in all our meetings then, I told him if you cannot develop it, you can sell the property back to Rivers State government, we are willing to develop it, but we cannot allow that property to be the way it is."

He stated that governor Diri had acknowledged that it was unacceptable for the property to remain in its dilapidated state. And based on this, even in the presence of the governors of Oyo and Adamawa States, governor Diri had assured him that the Bayelsa State government will reconstruct the property, but to no avail.

"Ask the governor of Oyo State, ask the governor of Adamawa State, we are colleagues. He (Diri) had promised me that in the next three months everything will be done. I took him serious that he meant well for my State and I believed as a colleague he will not deceive me.

"I've said to anybody who cares, the failure of this country is the inability of leadership to take a decision. In one of my routine inspections, I went round and I saw the property. In fact, as I speak to you, no human being worth his salt will allow such structure to be there."

Governor Wike narrated that even the Rivers State had written a reminder to the Bayelsa State government, they still failed to act, prompting the formal with no other option than to demolish the property.

“You cannot have property in this prime area and you don’t develop it, and then criminals use it to torment ,terrorise and harass innocent people. And tomorrow you will tell me Rivers State is not safe.

"Go to Akasa street, you can see what is going on there. If you are serious government, you cannot allow that. We have no apology. As far as we are concerned, the place has been brought down, we are building judges quarters there."

The Rivers State governor said it was disingenuous for the Bayelsa State government to claim that the demolition of its property was politically motivated because the State did not support his presidential bid.

He wondered why the Bayelsa State government has always been antagonistic to anything that concerns Rivers State.

"I have never seen a government so hostile to Rivers State like Bayelsa State and let the truth be told. Every time politics will come in. Vendetta for what? Bayelsa has been the clog in the wheel of progress against Rivers State government.

"We had a joint property where Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) took over. NEW engineering works in Trans Amadi, AMCON took over the property and advertised for sale, Rivers State government, said look you can’t do it.

"We are ready to buy it. Bayelsa State knew about it. When Rivers State government purchased it from AMCON, Bayelsa State government went to court against Rivers State government. So, it is unfortunate."

Governor Wike said the ranting of the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Lands that the demolition of his State property in Port Harcourt by the Rivers State government smacks of sheer political vendetta, was rather ludicrous.

According to him, Rivers State had in the past taken possession of abandoned property owned by the Edo State government, Nigeria Railway Corporation and default Nigeria Airways, and was never accused of political vendetta by the affected parties.

EFCC re-arrests Mompha on alleged N6bn money laundering
EFCC declares Mompha wanted
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday said the social media celebrity, Ismaila Mustapha (alias Mompha), charged with N6 billion money laundering had been re-arrested.

The EFCC counsel, Mr Suleiman Suleiman, told an Ikeja Special Offences Court that the prosecution in collaboration with its international partners had secured the arrest of Mompha.


“The prosecution will like to bring to the knowledge of my lord that in collaboration with our international partners, we have been able to apprehend the defendant.

“We plan to take him into custody and to produce him before the court.


“The counsel for the defendant reached out to me seeking for an adjournment that he will be absent today in court,” Suleiman said.


Justice Mojisola Dada, thereafter, adjourned the case until July 3 for continuation of trial.

Recall that reports that the court had on Sept. 21, 2022 ordered the commencement of trial of the defendant in absentia after he failed to appear before the court.

EFCC had on Jan. 22, 2022 arraigned Mompha alongside his company, Ismalob Global Investment, on an eight-count charge of N6 billion laundering, which he pleaded not guilty to.

The court had on June 22, 2022 issued a bench warrant for Mompha’s arrest following his absence in court.

The social media celebrity was equally absent in court on June 16, 2022.



On June 10, 2022 EFCC accused him of flouting the court’s order by travelling to Dubai with a new international passport.

The charges against Mompha include conspiracy to launder money obtained through unlawful activities, and laundering of money obtained through unlawful activities.

Others are: retention of proceeds of criminal conduct, use of property derived from an unlawful act, possession of a document containing false pretense, and failure to disclose assets.

Rivers: Police rescue 12-year-old girl from forest

Police have rescued a 12-year-old girl, Franklyn Chioma-Blessing, who was declared missing in Port Harcourt this week.

Chioma-Blessing was rescued from a forest in Igboo-Kingdom, Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.

She was reported to have left her house on Thursday for school but never got to the school.

DAILY POST gathered that earlier on Saturday; operatives of the Nigeria Police stormed a forest in Igboo-Etche where the victim was rescued.

It is unclear if Chioma-Blessing was kidnapped for ransom or for other reasons.

The state Police Command has promised to brief journalists on the development.

Igbo-Etche has been touted to be a destination of kidnappers in the state, as several persons kidnapped have been rescued from there.

responsible parent will never accept that. About a week after, my mom had to come to their church to report her parent to their pastor (Olusho as they usually call it). I was very annoyed with my mom that I vowed never to leave this lady. Truth be told, this lady is virtuous, beautiful and respectful lady and I
love her so much. All this hullabaloo went down and I pretend I had nothing to do with her again. Meanwhile, her parent were of the
opinion that they can't dictate for their children. If she loves me equally, they're ready to support her decision and I also second this.
About 4 month after, her dad called me to meet him at the church compound, he told me that I can attest to their standard of living of which most of the time I do send them tokens and sometimes quality amount to get foodstuff and foot their bills. He then asked me if I could please get him a car for Uber, this request was made in the presence of my gf and her mom. For the first time, I felt ashamed and disappointed. This is a Red flag, not even up to 6 months and her Dad is making this kind of request. I just told him I can't afford it and if there's anything I can help him with I'll communicate it to their daughter which is my gf. I started recalling most of her parent stylish request through their daughter, they might call her on phone that her younger ones haven't eating or some frivolous issues that
requires money, I'd have to be responsible for all of this. I can't imagine how she could be
responsible to all of this when she doesn't have her on work or means of livelihood. I had this retrospection and I thought of what I could do. Firstly, I started dodging some billings and I try to focus on her and enlighten her on what's right and wrong, I asked her
about her plans and she said she intend to become a nurse, I enrolled her to an hospital where she would learn Nursing while she process her school.
She had an elder sister who's married and stays in Lagos. Her sister called me one day and asked if she could squat in my place with her two kids for 2-3 days for a church anniversary party that she told her husband not to secure an hotel since I reside in the
same street with their church. I was short of words because I wasn't expecting this kind of shameless attitude. Well, she came and she
almost exceed a week while I had to call my sister to pretend she's coming to my place. Getting to my place, mysister called my mom that she had confirmed that I've been hypnotized and charmed. She left that day
because she overheard my sister conversation with my mom. Since I have denied her dad request to buy him a car, her dad as now
developed a scam way of borrowing Money from me without paying back. It has happened about three times and I have denied him of that way. Her mom once did it too...Lol. This kind of demands has become extortions and
not normal at all.

It's been almost 2 years and I have tried to manage them with this red flags but they'll only stop for a while after a strict declining and then bring it on again. During this years, I don't
feel safe with them, I don't trust them, they're desperate, my girlfriend (their daughter) is different and doesn't exhibit this kind of attitude but she's unable to stop them too.
