The missing fact about Ike Ekweremadu case

Barr. Emeka Ugwuonye explains the missing links in the Ekweremadu's trial. He wrote:

SOME LITTLE DETAILS YOU DID NOT KNOW ABOUT IN THE EKWEREMADU CASE

David Ukpo Nwamini is the 21-year old Lagos street hawker who was to give his kidney to Ekweremadu’s daughter IN London. When he was interviewed at the hospital in London, they asked him if he knew he was to donate his kidney to Sonia Ekweremadu. He first told them that he had no money to donate. They explained to him that it was his kidney that he was to donate. He asked them what was kidney. Initially, the doctors thought it was a question of language, since David’s English was not good enough. However, they eventually understood that David did not know which human organ was called kidney. In other words, he did not know what organ he was to give Sonia. That led the doctors to conclude that the procedure was not well-explained to David and that is the number one requirement by law. According to the law, you must explain to the organ donor the procedure and all the health risks associated with the procedure. It is only then that the donor is taken to have informedly consented. When the doctors found that David did not understand what he was about to get involved in, they declared him a mismatch.

The term “mismatch” is a technical generic language to indicate that the proposed organ harvesting has not met all the requirements. Many in Nigeria have misunderstood the term “mismatch” in this case to mean that David’s kidney was not suitable for Sonia. No! There was nothing wrong with David’s Kidney. To donate an organ, the facts must match both the law and the science governing the procedure. While the kidney matched the scientific requirement, the facts did not match the legal requirement. So, it was declared a mismatch. To help you understand it better, the term “mismatch” means there is a discrepancy. The doctors who interviewed David did not and could not have determined that a crime was committed. The doctors did not have sufficient information to reach such conclusion then. They felt uncomfortable with the discrepancies in the information they had about the donor and his decisions and whether he had made up his mind. For instance, the doctors did not get involved in how David was brought to them or whether he was paid. It was not their duty to deal with that. It was actually when Ekweremadu and Dr. Obinna attempted to return David to Nigeria that the problem started. David expected that he would be given a job in London as he was told before he left Nigeria. They did not give him job and they did not send him to school. Instead of all he was promised, he was asked to prepare to return to Nigeria and David ran away from the house where he was kept. As hunger wired him, he reported himself to the police. To win the immediate protection of the police, he lied about his age by telling them he was 15. It was when he was interviewed by the police that the information came out which established that a crime was committed. For instance, it was at the police station that they asked him if he was paid money and he said yes he was paid N270,000. When the police checked the WhatsApp chats between Ekweremadu and Dr. Obeta they realized that Ekweremadu actually paid 4.5 million for Obeta to pay to David. But Obeta only paid David N270,000 and pocketed the rest.

In fact, Ekweremadu tried to keep himself away from certain details of the deal. That was why Ekweremadu never discussed money with David. In fact, he did not deal directly with David. That was what made it possible for Obeta to cheat him. Ekweremadu believed that the 4.5 million went to David. But since he was not dealing with David directly, he never knew that Obeta pocketed most of the money. However, the law viewed Ekweremadu’s decision not to deal directly with David as a typical behavior of a big man who knew that he is getting involved in a crime. He would usually try to create some distance between him and the crime, yet he will be funding the crime from afar. Otherwise, how come you never wanted to meet the boy that is giving his kidney to your daughter and whom you called cousin to your daughter (which actually makes him your nephew)? Rather than see the non-direct dealing as evidence of his innocence, it was seen as deliberate or willful ignorance aimed at evading legal responsibility. One of the key factors that worked against Ekweremadu was that he lied. On three official documents he signed, he stated that David was Sonia’s cousin. But in all the WhatsApp chats he had with the doctor and his own brother over the matter, he referred to David as “that guy”. Hence the question: “You knew he was not Sonia’s cousin. While you signed that he was her cousin, when you wanted to say the truth, you referred to him as “that guy”, meaning you didn’t know him or even remember his name”. Ekweremadu admitted in court that he lied and apologized. NOTE: I decided to provide these details because I have read somewhere it was being said that David misled Ekweremadu and took advantage of him. No, David is a real victim. He did not manipulate them. He was manipulated by Dr. Obinna Obeta, who was working for the Ekweremadu.

Tinubu To Inaugurate Rumuola-Rumuokwuta Flyover, Magistrates Court Building —Wike

Nigeria’s President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to inaugurate the iconic Rumuola-Rumuokwuta flyover and Magistrates Court building in Port Harcourt on the 3rd and 4th of May, 2023.

The 1007.5 metres Rumuola-Rumuokwuta flyover which connects Rumuola road to Ikwerre road is the 12th flyover built by the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike’s administration since 2019. Governor Wike during an inspection tour of the Rumuola-Rumuokwuta flyover and Magistrates Court building in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, disclosed that the President-elect will pay two days visit to Rivers State next week.

“To God be the glory. We are expecting the President-elect on the 3rd and 4th of next month to commission the 12th flyover and the Magistrates Court building. You can see the Magistrates Court building and how amazing it is. We commend the contractor too who has done this job, and quite on time. I don’t think you can find this in anywhere in this part of the country.”

Governor Wike explained that the President-elect was told when he came to campaign in Rivers State and paid a courtesy call in Government House , Port Harcourt in February, 2023 that he would be invited to commission some of the landmark projects of his administration.

“We had invited presidential candidates of other parties like Labour, NNPP (New Nigeria Peoples Party), they all came and commissioned projects, and we did say to him (President-elect) that we believe that after the election we are going to invite him to commission projects too. And luckily, these two very important projects are ready.”

The Rivers State governor said it is gratifying that his administration was able to commence and finish the construction of 12 flyovers within the last four years. According to him, Rivers people will attest to the fact that his administration has conscientiously delivered on the promises made to them.

“Rivers people will of course attest to the fact that we have given our best and we thank God and give Him the glory that it has turned out this way. We are extremely happy and we can beat our chest, we can go home satisfied that we have not disappointed our people. “

Governor Wike explained that as of part of the activities to mark the inauguration of the incoming administration in Rivers State, several projects like the Intelligence Centre in Rumueprikom, remodelled Prof. Kesley Harrison and Dental and Maxillofacial hospitals among other projects have been earmarked for inauguration.

“In fact, part of the activities to mark the inauguration of the new governor for the people of the State will be commissioning of other impactful projects. Remember when the IGP (Inspector General of Police) came last time to commission the Intelligence Centre (Port Harcourt), we did promise him that we are going to build another Intelligence Centre. As I speak to you now, that centre is ready. Some other projects are the Kesley Harrison hospital.”

This is Betty, an air hostess who quit her job, sold her land and donated it all to Malindi cult leader Pastor Paul Mackenzie. Her friends and colleagues are still in shock that she was lured to the "church" in Shakahola, Kilifi County, where police on Sunday exhumed 18 additional bodies bringing the total number of recovered bodies to 39. The tragic story began when Betty reportedly jetted into Kenya after her son Jason was allegedly forced to fast while she was in Qatar and sadly passed on.

He was living with his grandparents at the time. After receiving the news while at work in Qatar, she reportedly came for the burial but was never to be traced again.

She deleted all her social posts and sold all her belongings before booking a one-way flight and disappearing into Malindi. Her sister who reportedly resides in Umoja, Nairobi says that before she left, Betty wrote an emotional letter to her husband inferring that she might never return again.

She then left with the children and headed to Malindi. A friend had apparently told her that they were headed to meet Jesus on the 8th of April, so they had to leave on the 7th.

She tracked Betty's flight which was only a one-way ticket to Malindi.

The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, has Suspended all humanitarian activities in Okrika.

His statement reads:
OPM Free School In OKRIKA Given 7 Days To Close Down.

Sometimes we complain about government, while we are enemies of our own self.

I visited OKRIKA community in rivers state one day and found out that upon all the big multinationals in the community, many little children are out of school in that community because there is no single free school to help those that don’t have money for school fees of there children in that community and I hate seeing children not going to school.

Only rich children go to school.

So I decided OPM church open a 100 percent free school for everyone including Muslims and Christian that can not not pay school fees. Remember this is not my community. I am from Abia.

And after the free school, we are also to opened a 24 hours free hospitals will also be opened.

Currently am not in town, only to get a message that some persons are threatening the place where the free school is located. And gave it 7 days.

Is sad some individuals are more interested in what they will get than the educational future of this children. They prefer this little children not to go to school, so in future they can be used as political thugs.
