Well in a dept whr there are more of girls...d boys just act as ladies aswell

This got me cracking!! am also a nurse and i remember I and my roommate always talking about how the male lecturers have been "feminized" !!! And some of the male students too!!! Did my training at UBTH. Here in the US male nurses are highly mobile. The unions are very strong. And no one wants to be called "sexist" so it's really not an issue.
Used to have a crush on a dentistry student I saw often at pharmacy studying.(story for another day)..

I think it's a glitch! You're absolutely not on administrative processing. At the risk of getting inundated with questions from everyone in Nigeria smiley, your visa is approved and should be printed today! (After all the twists and turns in your visa journey I feel like I might as well make an exception and tell you that.)
May God bless you ma...

Hello VO
Am glad you are always available for guidance ...
I checked my status on ceac and it says AP..
Am very worried as I know ap could mean a thousand things especially more waiting time...
I can't even share this with my wife yet because this process has taking its toll on her really bad already..
I know u don't comment on ap cases but please make this an exception.... What does this mean?

1. We are cautiously back online!

2. This means that we are beginning to be able to print some visas, and we hope that we'll be back to full capacity soon.

3. Yes, we will be here this weekend, and I totally want everyone's sympathy and compassion because it is also Sanitation Saturday this weekend, which means that we all have to be here well before 07:00, and one of the most profound joys of my life is sleeping in. cry But, considering what all of you are going through, I can get up at 05:00 on a Saturday once in a while.

4. I can't promise you anything... we are still cautious... I don't want to get your hopes up unnecessarily. (This is the moment where I'm supposed to say "You should never, ever buy a ticket before your visa is actually in your hands" but you seem to be in a good mood and I don't want to shake that.) Shoot us an e-mail on Monday, or if you're comfortable posting your case number post it here, and I can at least let you know if your visa was one that cleared for printing on or before Saturday.

5. Nope, it's cool.
Hello VO..
Am praying really hard that mine has been printed... LGs2015526026

So I have to submit a new one at d collection center....
Glad to have my visa approved...tanx VO for everything

Hurray!

Please do bring all original documents as well as photocopies of those documents. We'll return the originals to you at the time of the interview. It's a good idea to bring relationship evidence showing that you've stayed in the relationship since your last interview with us. Good luck!
Good morning VO
Interview is tomorrow... I guess it's ok that I feel anxious....I have my original documents including my child's birth certificate(anything to prove our marriage is going strong...) I do not have the original copy of my police report because like i informed u earlier...it wasn't returned to me by the VO at my last interview... I hope it won't b an issue ....
Lastly ...which is the official date of my marriage... Is it the date we had the traditional ceremony or the date on the marriage certificate...
Thank you VO for everything... Hopefully I am able to tell you this in person tomorrow ...

April and May have already been scheduled, so my guess is that the earliest possibility will be in June. But if NVC asks us to take more cases in May, we will!
Good morning VO
We finally got a date frm nvc, June 12...LGS 2015526026...am happy dat finally this process is going to b over...
I knw I may need to bring all original documents... But we are a lil uncomfortable sending the original marriage certificate thru mail...can I bring along just d photocopy?...
I should get email from nvc and d embassy instructing me on other requirements and items to bring for d interview right?
One last thing...as u know i have been through this process before and was denied because evidence showed we are indeed married and in a bonafide relationship... Do I still need to bring loads of phone records ....emails... Passport pages and photos to "prove" we are still married?....
Thanks for being der as usual...

Dear Visa Officer,

Thank you very much for responding to my questions, i appreciated all that. To my uttermost surprise, we received an interview date today! Guess what? i have been gyrating ever since! I can't wait.

Below are some things i would love to know.

(a)Let's assume that we get done on time with the medical exams and have the result handy, is it okay if i email the IV section and request an early interview date?
(b)Talking about the medical result, is it mandatory to attend the interview with the Xray result that is always enclosed in that huge envelope or just only the sealed envelope? I know that the sealed envelope is mandatory.
(c) Is the immigrant visa application part 1 and 2 filled online be printed out and be brought to the visa interview or just only the confirmation page that is needed?

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

Awesome news! Also waiting (im)patiently for an interview date..got cc on the 6th of April ...did you call nvc or u got an email?...

I believe the NVC relies primarily on e-mail, but also sends official notifications through the regular mail, and uses the phone as a last resort. Maybe someone reading this can let us know?
NVC sent a mail to my address in Benin city. Edo state..though it was addressed about 2 months earlier than the day I received it.. ....good thing is that the same copy was sent via email to my wife about the time it was addressed..
All other correspondence has been through email ..with the my wife and I getting copies ...
Hope this helps

I guess u meant ....as long as I can explain...because am the applicant....
I read of cases where couples are placed on AP for reasons best known to you....we just want to be sure that we dont make any silly mistakes this time around.
The waiting is really hard on us...
Thanks for being there..

I think it will b nice to refile...chances are she would get a larger refund...smiley and our mind would b at peace that we haven't raised any red flags...

I'd say, as long as she can explain, it's fine. It would be a much bigger problem if she had listed someone else as her spouse!!! grin

Hello VO ....
I trust you are doing OK...
Just a few questions...
My wife filled her tax form 10EZ and she was instructed to fill single if her spouse was a non resident alien...I couldn't understand why but since that was the instruction...she did exactly that...
When she was to file her taxes..her accountant also told her to file as a single lady for tax purpose..
Just yesterday I stumbled on a page on visa journey..in which the author said a petitioner should never file as single as it raises a huge red flag...
So you see our dilemma... Should she go and refile as married or even as head of household as we now have a child together or it won't be a problem at interview?
Pls I need you informed opinion...
Thanks a lot

But in your case, you've never argued in this thread that you're not actually married. Your position has always been "Well, looks like we need to file for the right kind of visa -- a spouse visa." Or am I misremembering this?
Lol...VO
The Ibo culture from the little I have learnt can be "complicated".....
The list of items I was told to bring for the introduction was as long as the list of items I would bring for the actual ceremony. And after my experience with the k1 refusal ...I got to understand that the bringing of gifts and acceptance by the brides family is as valid as a trad ceremony ....but who would have taught that the embassy would also see this as a trad ceremony !. My bad!
Dear VO....All am asking is to be reunited with my family ......my wife just delivered a bouncing baby boy 2 days ago and all I have ar pics and phone calls!......!!!
Infact I need to call nvc right now...I need updates!

But at engagement i shared an engagement ring with my fiance that i still wear till today, does this also constitute marriage? wow, cos all u said above, as in yam and the the things presented are really to our culture all part of the engagement/betrothal, it is even called traditional marriage in some cases and Never can this mean marriage itself. because what it means simply is you have taken permission of family members to have their son or daughter in marriage, that should the marriage itself comes up, and parent and family members are not able to attend either due to distance or other reasons, you have permission to go ahead and exchange marital vows. infact engagement to my culture is the real thing for families, marriage is basically for sociial and official use. And at marriage there really no time to exchange all those yam and bags etc, save only for exchange of vow and signing the dotted lines... now am confused.

My dear friend .
I was denied a k1 for the same reason. I had a band on my wedding finger that my wife insisted I wear to show am taken"...she also referred to me as her husband on Facebook..coupled with the fact that her family came down for the ceremony was enough to deny me a visa. Now am stuck here with nvc trying to get my i130 processed.
Please no need to wait until you are denied...find a way to do a registry and petition for spousal.
Wish you well.....

Hello vo ..
My heart sank when I read d post where u said April schedule ar almost ready.....NVC has never been so slow....we got a mail telling us that it will take at least 60 days for review of our documents...and then maybe anoda 30 to 60 days before appointment date i guess...this is really difficult for us...I keep wondering how much harder it can get before we are qualified for our case to be expedited. the saddest part is dat i cant even try for a tourist visa because i have shown intent to migrate.
I would recommend this visa part as a last resort to anyone who seeks my opinion...

Good morning,

It could be a few months still before a case number is assigned. Currently, it's taking around six to eight months before NVC finishes processing a case and schedules it for an interview. You'll probably have at least a month, maybe six weeks, between the time you're notified that your interview has been scheduled and the interview itself. Good luck -- I hope everything goes quickly!

Hello vo
Compliment of d season..I was literally sweating after reading ur above post..it takes abt 5months for USCIS to approve a case and forward it to nvc. And another 6 to 8 months for a case number to b assigned and an interview scheduled?. Pls I need clarification. Tanks as always

Greetings,

I see the results and they're good. I've made a note in the case that she plans to travel before Christmas, so we can issue a visa with an expiration date to match the medical report. Expect a call from us soon asking her to drop off her passport. smiley[

hello VO,
I just want to say u are truly God sent, you do have a very good heart and i wish all consular officers had same...(if wishes were horses!!!!).
May the good lord grant you your heart desires...Amen....
It seems USCIS is experiencing computer issues at this time....hopefully it doesnt cause further backlog of cases...my wife got the NOA1 earlier this month for the i130 and she has filled the 129f....hopefully it helps to speed up our case...
Have a blessed weekend..

smiley Don't trust anyone you meet online! The moderators here didn't believe me either, but then they checked out my bona fides and let me stay. You can always e-mail us directly at LagosIV@state.gov if you don't like online forums, too.

If we have the DNA results here and they're all right, he should hear from us in just a few days. I can't tell from your post if we needed anything else to finish processing his case, but if not, as soon as he drops off his passport, he should have his visa a week later. Again, it's possible that DNA results weren't the only item we were waiting for, though.

I can't promise you Thanksgiving -- it depends what else his case needs -- but we will try. As soon as I finish answering these questions, I'm going to process a whole stack of DNA results; I hope your son's are there!

If his police report is dated Aug. 2014, it's good until Aug. 2015.

Hope this helps!
