Nairaland GeneralFor How Long Will The Ban On Twitter Continue? — OAP Michael Effiong by Topbaze(op): 3:14am On Aug 07, 2021
Media personality, Michael Effiong has expressed his view concerning the continuous ban on Twitter in Nigeria. The Kpoko FM presenter said this via his Facebook page;

https://www.facebook.com/114918913673127/posts/387069949791354/

FOR HOW LONG WILL THE BAN ON TWITTER CONTINUE?

I've done businesses with some people for some years without even seeing them face to face, we just transact and keep to each others bargain. That is social media. The power of social media is underrated.

I've interviewed people I haven't met before on my radio show just because I followed their conversations on social media and I read about their personalities. Twitter has been my greatest tool in research when I'm on duty. To me, Instagram is mainly for videos and photos, while Snapchat for photos, Facebook is there for you to familiarize more with friends, as for Twitter it is my home for research, sensitive topics and trends.

It's been months since the government suspended Twitter and a lot of Nigerians are acting like it is normal. One of the reasons I heard is that Twitter doesn't have an office in Nigeria and they don't pay tax. Some of you were busy to support them as you shared your ignorant post on Facebook. That Facebook you used in exposing your level of ignorance do they pay tax to your government? The likes of Instagram, TikTok, Koo and Snapchat, do they pay tax to your government? Do they have an office in Nigeria? Also they couldn't rightly challenge the decision of Twitter for taking down the tweet of the president, but they were quick to suspend the platform for no just reason. Even when human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong challenged them in court they denied of not knowing about the deleted tweets.

Another reason I heard is that of fake news. So what stop them from banning WhatsApp and Facebook, or are these platforms free from fake news?

Let me tell you, technically PDP isn't the biggest challenge of this government but social media (Twitter). The APC and PDP are like bird of a feather. Ever since the EndSARS protest they saw the power of Twitter and they decided to gag it. Twitter played a big role in that protest and it caused a challenged to the government than what PDP could ever do.

In case you don't know a lot of Nigerians are losing money from the suspension of Twitter. I ain't talking about fraudulent money but legit money. Everyone mustn't wear coat and tie to answer "yes sir" to a boss that will give him a coin at the end of 30 days, people are cashing out via social media in a legit way. According to a source we've lost N150.46 billion due to this ban.
We need to wake up and decide for our future or we remain mute forever.

Nairaland GeneralWasteful Lifestyle Of Equatorial Guinea's Vice President -- OAP Michael Effiong by Topbaze(op): 4:31pm On Jul 25, 2021
Michael Effiong has expressed is concern on the wasteful lifestyle of some African leaders. This time the media personality came for the son of the president of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Mangue.
He said this via his Facebook page;

If you ask me what this man here is thinking about I will say, he is possibly thinking of buying the ashes of a cigarette for a million dollar, then blow the ashes away. Just like that.

This is Teodoro Obiang Mangue aka Mr Lavish, he is the first vice president of Equatorial Guinea. He has spent billions of naira in luxury and some of his properties has been seized by different governments in the world. From luxurious cars, watches, yacht etc, he is ready to spend in $ million just to acquire them. He uses his country's commonwealth to balance his luxurious lifestyle. He even spent million of dollars to buy Michael Jackson's memorabilia, including the singer's hand glove.

His father, Teodoro Obiang Mbasogo is the president of Equatorial Guinea and he has been the president of the country for over 40 years.

Like Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea is an oil rich country, being the third-largest oil producer in Sub-Saharan Africa. Another characteristic it shares with Nigeria is that the oil money isn't going round, but it's been held by a few rich-people.

Some sources believe that when Teodoro Mbasogo retires or dies, the power shift is likely to go to his son, Mr Lavish. Imagine Mr Lavish in power. Africa has a big leadership problem and if we don't fix it, it will definitely kill all of us.

SportsWhat FC Ebedei Is Doing That Other Clubs Aren't Doing -- OAP Michael Effiong by Topbaze(op): 1:12am On Jul 23, 2021
Radio presenter, Michael Effiong has placed Nigeria lower division side, FC Ebedei above many clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League. The Kpoko FM Warri presenter said this via his Facebook page;

I think there is a lot to learn from FC Ebedei when it comes to the financial part of football and pushing of players to Europe. This club is far ahead of many teams in the NPFL when it comes to marketing of players.
Ebedei are in the third division of the Nigeria league chart, but there is a wider chance to make it to Europe through the club than other clubs in the NPFL. The big question is, what is Ebedei doing that other teams aren't doing?

First, they signed a deal with Danish side, FC Midtjylland. This made the club an academy to the Danish club. It gives an open door for players in the club to have an easy switch to Europe without having problem.

Secondly, the success of the their deals with FC Midtjylland have given them an easy route to the European market. Clubs in Europe are likely to do deals with them because of their no-problem history.

Thirdly, the club chose to play in the lower division in order to cut cost. The cost of running a team in the NPFL isn't the same like the lower leagues. They tapped from that wisdom and chose the lower side with a higher return.

Fourthly, there is a big possibility that the club will have it own share for every deal done by their ex-players in the future. Sign-one percentage is a sensible way to cashout. Another way to generate revenue.

Imagine signing a player for €150k? That will look small in the European transfer market, but for a lower division team like Ebedei, it is everything. This is more than N60 million. Wisdom.

Products of Ebedei are Obafemi Martins, Paul Onuachu, Brentford new signee; Frank Onyeka, Akeem Agbetu, Oluwafemi Ajilore, Sylvester Igboun etc. FC Ebedei are business-oriented.

Nairaland GeneralLike Hollywood, We Should Have Our Own Naija Walk Of Fame -- OAP Michael Effiong by Topbaze(op): 12:21am On Jul 17, 2021
As the Nigerian entertainment circle mourns the late Sound Sultan, media personality with Kpoko FM Warri, Michael Effiong thinks the time has come for Nigerian entertainment to have its own walk of fame with stars. He wrote this on social media;

This is timely. I think Patorankingfire's "Celebrate Me" slaps more when I look at the life Sound Sultan lived. Oh Motherland!

Yesternight as I was playing "Motherland" I felt it so deep in me. Another veteran is gone, just like that. What a life.

I think we should've our own "Naija Entertainment Walk of Fame" where we will place a star to represent those that did extraordinary things for the industry.

Sleep well.

Sports2021 Has Been A Remarkable Year For English Football -- OAP Michael Effiong by Topbaze(op): 12:06am On Jul 17, 2021
Media personality with Kpoko FM Warri, Michael Effiong (Egbegba) has praised the English football teams for their performance at club and national duty in 2021. He wrote this via his Facebook page;

This year has been a remarkable year for English football, though not perfect, but it is worthy of admiration.
The English teams played the finals of almost all competitions they were involved, though they won just one, but it showed their level of competitiveness.
Firstly, the Chelsea women played the female champions league final, followed by Manchester United battling out with Villarreal in the Europa league final. Though both lost, but Chelsea won the Champions League, while the English national team played the Euro 2020 finals. That's a total of four finals and all were from England. Awesome. Imagine the English teams winning all the finals, it would've been fantabulous.
I can't tell of any nation having their teams play all four major finals in a calendar year. The English teams were great. Hopefully Chelsea will win the Super Cup to make the year more glorious.

Media Personality, Michael Effiong, popularly known as Egbegba of Kpoko FM Warri, has given a hint of what life would've been for Nigerian youths if only they were taught business at an early age. He said this via is Facebook page:

If only we were taught business at an early age, it would've been better. Imagine having to involve yourself in different businesses in your early 20s, before you get to your 30s you must have gotten a clue of where you are going and what to do. Your investment and business language will be topnotch. China is practicing such.
In Nigeria, it is about school, school, school. I ain't against school and I won't be against it, but we should know that what we are practicing today is a westernized form of education and it isn't a true reflection of what we are as a people. Our culture differs with theirs, so should our education be.
An average Nigeria in the educational sector in his early 20s is either thinking of scaling through JAMB or getting a good grades in a higher institution. Education is more than getting good grades. Education with nothing to eat at the end is almost nonsensical.
The Igbo trading culture is one admirable part of life we've not been able to look into. While it seem informal, but is ain't out of place, because it has produced countless millionaires and skilled individuals.

...this article should be long, but let me stop here. Don't be shy to keep your CV and work like you've never been to the four walls of a university. I've done it. Work and eat.

Christianity EtcEven Christ Was A Protester -- OAP Michael Effiong by Topbaze(op): 5:51am On Jun 13, 2021

Radio Personality, Michael Effiong, popularly known as Egbegba has voiced is mind concerning the June 12 protest. The Kpoko FM presenter gave a relationship between Christ and today protesters.
This is what he wrote on his Facebook platform;

Even Christ was a protester.

Elijah too was a protester.

These are people who won't sit comfortable and bear things, they rose up to the occasion and did the needful.
How will you describe the action of Christ at the temple when he saw people trading?
What about Elijah and Ahab? It was like a protester against the king, his wife (Jezebel), prophets of Baal and others. At a time he was afraid, but he didn't break.
Moses too even killed to pass his message that he is an Israelite. Though I don't advise you to kill, but the message must be passed.
-- Our economy is messed up.
-- Prices of good and services are on the rise.
Kidnapping is on the rise.
-- Armed herdsmen are still killing people in villages in Benue State and other places.
-- The Naira is seriously depreciating against the Dollar.
-- Our soldiers are been killed like we are at war with another country.
-- Our police officers are been attacked and killing, with their stations burned down.
-- Our educational sector is messed up with incessant strikes and lack of attention.
-- Our refineries are dormant.
-- Minimum wage is still pending.
-- Electoral system is not meeting up with modern time.
-- Public officers holders are still stealing monies with no hard penalty on them.

How long are we going to fold our hands?
Should we remain like this?

PoliticsLocal Govt Elections: Where The Ruling Party Takes It All -- Michael Effiong by Topbaze(op):
Media Personality with Kpoko FM Warri, Michael Effiong (Egbegba) has expressed concern about the way local government elections are been done in Nigeria. This is what he said;

https://deltaprideng.com/2021/03/08/local-govt-elections-where-the-ruling-party-always-take-it-all/

If you’ve been following the Local Government elections in Nigeria for the past years then one shouldn’t be surprised at what happened at the recent Delta State Local Government and Councillorship elections.

The selection process, oh sorry, I mean election process has always been like this. It isn’t just about Governor Ifeanyi Okowa or the Delta State Government, but it is a nationwide political deception. While the elections turn-out are always low, the results are always in the favour of the ruling party in the state where the elections are conducted.
In 2020 in Kogi State, the state’s ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, cleared all the 21 local councils including the 239 wards. The 2014 Anambra State Local Government Elections took similar step under the administration of Peter Obi, as his All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) won 20 out of the 21 local councils. In Rivers State in 2018, the ruling party in the State, PDP, cleared all the 23 chairmanship seats in the State.
If we are to have a sensible impact of what a Local Government Administration should be, then we need to amend the electoral act. This amendment will create a room for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct the local government elections same day with the governorship and state assembly elections. Imagine the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DESIEC proposed the sum of N1.147bn for the conduct of the Local Government Councils election and at the end what Deltans experienced was a shambolic process. What a waste of fund.
If we want to experience what will look like a free and fair elections in Nigeria, then we need to remove the power to conduct local government elections from the state electoral body to the national electoral commission. It is better we fix things now or continue to suffer from political deceit.
While we hope for our legislature to amend the electoral process, it is advisable for young poltiicians to pay more attention in contesting for state assembly seats than to go for Local Government and Councillorship elections.

PoliticsFood Blockade: Lessons For Southern Nigeria -- Michael Effiong by Topbaze(op): 8:44am On Mar 07, 2021
In an article shared by Deltaprideng.com, media personality with Kpoko FM Warri, Michael Effiong expressed his view concerning the food blockade actioned by the North. This was what he said;

https://deltaprideng.com/2021/03/05/food-blockade-lessons-for-southern-nigeria/

The southern part of Nigeria shouldn’t just sleep over the food blockade move that was done by members of the Amalgamated Union of Foodstuffs and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria (AUFCDN). They’ve passed a message to the south and there is no better way to comprehend it than to start looking for a way to be reasonably food sufficient. One of the acts of war is food blockade. No one would like to feed his enemy, instead they’d rather block food supply if they aren’t the ones directly supplying it. Why should one part of a country block the passage of food supply to the other and you claim to be under an umbrella called Nigeria? This isn’t reasonable and it isn’t worth to think about, but in all nonsense there is possibly an atom of wisdom to tap from.

While no one in his sense will pray for war, it is significant you prepare yourself for the unexpected. I think leaders from the southern part of the country should take this as an advantage to invest more in building an enviable agricultural system than is worthy of feeding its population. With this, you create jobs and it adds to source of revenue in terms of internally generated revenue. Many of those farm produces coming from the North to the South can be produced in the South. From rearing of cows to growing of tomatoes and other things. A good and reliable agricultural support system in the South will bring more hands to farming and also inspire those already farming.

Though the main food in the South revolves around cassava, vegetables, sea foods and palm oil, but it will be an enormous advantage if the South can maximize our production strength and starts massive production of other needed food items coming from the North. One of the lessons learnt in the food blockade days was that the North are ready to trade with Niger Republic than their Southern compatriots. This is a case of who are really the true brothers to the North? Is it the Southern people of Nigeria or Niger Republic?

Every wise leader knows when to act and when to relent. I hope prosperity will remember the decisions the leaders of the South make today. Listen isn’t wisdom all the time.

Nairaland GeneralWith Or Without Biafra The Igbos Are Going To Survive -- OAP Michael Effiong by Topbaze(op): 10:19pm On Jan 23, 2021
Media personality with Kpoko FM Warri, Michael Effiong, popularly known as Egbegba has expressed his views about the Igbo people of South-East Nigeria. He wrote this on his Twitter handle;

The Igbos are one of the most industrious people I've seen in Nigeria. They knowledge of business is deep. They understand the African way of doing business, same way the Lebanese and Chinese understand our ways of doing business. Politically and historically they are liken to the Jewish people in Israel but business-wise they are like the Chinese. Grab every single opportunity.
An Igbo trader won't ordinary let you leave his shop to another shop when he doesn't have that thing you want, instead he would go to the next shop to get that thing. He wants you to remain in his shop and at the end he either win your trust as a customer or convince you to buy something from his shop. Sometimes you'll even end up buying from him just as a form of appreciation or sympathy.
The phrase 'Onye wetalu azụmahịa, wetalu nri' is a driving force for them. Business means food. Where there is an Igbo man there is business. Like the popular Richard Quest's CNN program, 'Quest Means Business', I think the Nigerian version should be 'Igbo Means Business.'
Nigeria or no Nigeria, Biafra or no Biafra, an Igbo man would survive. They are just too dynamic.

Lets come back to Nigeria, those angry fellows that invaded our national assembly and took away our reverend mace where are they now?

This is a case of two nations dealing with similar issue in a different way. This is NIgeria."

FamilyWould Pius Angbo Stops Beating His Wife? -- Michael Effiong Asks. by Topbaze(op): 1:58am On Dec 08, 2020
Media personality with Kpoko FM, Michael Effiong has questioned the habit of some husbands beating their wives. He cited the case of Channels TV reporter, Pius Angbo after the Governor of Benue State, Ortom, reconciled him and his wife.
The Warri based radio personality tweeted this;

"Just go back to your husband because of your children. Do you want another woman to take over your husband's home? Just manage because every marriage comes with its own problem. The church won't be in support of a divided home, so just bear with the man. Do you want to bring shame to our family? Just stay with your husband. With these advices, many women have returned to their husbands home and died prematurely from the beating of the so called husbands. In few cases the husbands change, while others reduce the beating.
I'm not preaching for divorce but I just feel that Chioma, Ejiro and Bola would be living today if only they went their separate ways and stayed away from their abusive husbands.
Also our growing African women should learn to be independent, the struggle to survive independently is a key to making out decision that will work for you. You are the one in that relationship, you know what you face everyday.
In the case of the reported Channels TV reporter, Pius Angbo that beats up his wife, in a saner clime he would have been taken away by the law enforcers but here in Nigeria the case is different. Wishing them a successful reunion, but the question is that, "would Mr Pius stop beating is lovely wife?."

Nairaland GeneralPlacing Value On Things Given To You For Free Is A Key -- OAP Michael Effiong by Topbaze(op): 11:33pm On Nov 19, 2020
Radio personality, Michael Effiong (MikeMike) has urged people to place more value on things given to them for free. The Kpoko FM presenter wrote via his Facebook page;

"The free things you are using aren't really free, because someone sacrificed for it.
Appreciate it and use it well. There is this monthly book produced by Christ Embassy, in all my life I thought it was free. Sometimes I read it, other times I pay little attention to it. Maybe because it was free. At a time I discovered it wasn't totally free, but some persons were paying for it to make it available to all. The little sacrifice matters. Years ago, i made it a point of duty to give to Jehovah Witnesses something tangible whenever they come to share their belief with me. Though they will tell you their prints (Awake and Watchtower) are volunteering, but I still stand to give to them. It cost a lot to print and compile a body of work, let alone producing in thousands. No work is actually free but people stand to pay the sacrifice.
If someone turns on his wifi for you, place a value to it. Respect humanity sacrifices."

Nairaland GeneralRadio Presenter Calls Out Warri South Chairman Over Bad Road by Topbaze(op): 2:43am On Sep 29, 2020
A Warri based media personality, Michael Effiong aka Egbegba of Kpoko FM has called out the Warri South Chairman,. Michael Tidi over a bad road in Warri.
The presenter wrote via his Facebook page;

TO: THE WARRI SOUTH CHAIRMAN, HON MICHAEL TIDI.
THE FAILED PORTION OF EBOH ROAD.

The primary aim of every government is to protect life and keep peace within its jurisdiction. This, I've heard of your led government in keeping peace for the past few years and in settling of the recent Udumu-Urhobo (Okere-Urhobo) leadership tussle. Keep on with the good work.
Sir, my aim of writing this is to point out the failed portion of Eboh junction by Okere Market, Warri. It has become an eyesore. The state of the road is extremely dreadful. While vehicles are finding it hard to pass the bad spot, commuters are also finding it unbearable to use the road. When it rains, it becomes more terrifying to survive the bad spot that is enlarging as the day goes by.
Please come to the aid of the people of Warri and repair this road. I know different governments are seeking for funds because of what covid19 has caused, but it won't be bad if you help out with little re-enforcement on that road. Few bags of cement and granite would be helpful for a temporary survival, for we don't know when a standard repair would come.
Also your beautiful banner is a stone throw away from this bad spot. If only the road is good, it would add more beauty and praises to your banner. What do you expect from a man who struggles to drive pass this bad spot and he gets to see your banner within few seconds? Praises or insults? Please help Warri.
Finally, this message is in no way to attack your person, but it is just a call for good road. Hopefully things would be done about this road in due time.
Thanks.

Politics7pm Curfew In Delta State Is Unbearable --OAP Michael Effiong by Topbaze(op): 12:16pm On Aug 11, 2020
A radio personality with Kpoko FM, Michael Effiong aka MikeMike has called the attention of Gov Ifeanyi Okowa to the plight Deltans are facing because of the 7pm curfew in the State.
He wrote via his Facebook page;

Dear Governor Ifeanyi A. Okowa
REQUEST FOR POSSIBLE ADJUSTMENT OF CURFEW TIME.

Every responsible government should put the lives of its citizens above any other thing. This you've done for some months in the fight against covid19 that has affected the State. I pray the State expediently recover from its loss for the pass months due to covid19.
With States in Nigeria and other countries gradually opening up their economies, i think it is reasonable for the Delta State Government to relax some of the covid19 measure it has in existence. My concern is the 7pm curfew. The 7pm timing has made lives unbearable for many in the past months. Many businesses are finding it hard to cope. Many people haven't recover from the April's stay at home order. Businesses are going down. More traffic jam when it gets to 5pm. This has created the avenue for haphazard driving on our roads, likely to lead to more accident cases. The pain is just too much. Police harassment is another bane on us.
Please I would kindly advise for the curfew to be in line with the federal government 10pm timing or any suitable timing. This would give a lift to small, medium and other businesses to strive and survive in time like this. Together we will enjoy the possibility of a #StrongerDelta.
Thanks.

Michael Effiong.
Concerned Delta Resident.

We educate, inspire and give updates.
I am elated to be part of this family and I am happy that we are celebrating #KpokoFMAt4 today. May God bless all those hands that have bless this station in one way or the other. God bless you. Please join us celebrate, #KpokoFMAt4 #KpokoFMAnniversary.

Radio personality with Kpoko FM Warri, Michael Effiong charged artists to keep on pushing their songs. The gave out some advice on his Twitter account;

"Pushing your sound is a big key to your growth. Having good songs doesn't mean the song will become a hit. There are thousands of dead good songs that didn't go viral. There are songs that were hit but with no quality lyrics, no organized beat, no defined genre.
If you've the money to spend to push your sound, do it. Don't let anyone deceive you, the industry you see today is money oriented. The likes of bloggers, OAPs, content pushers, SM influencers, supposed A&R will like to take their cut when they want to push you. Play to the game with wisdom.Some of these mainstream artistes do pay this price to stay at the top.If you are graced then your sound will fly for free.But keep pushing your sound. Contact any possible link for help, from Nigeria to Ghana, Sierra Leone, U.S etc.
Success to you."
